Blog Chat Etiquette

These are some simple guidelines to make the blog chat room a positive, enjoyable and enlightening experience for everyone. Please note that as this is a chat room, we chat! Do not flood the chat room, or post without interacting with others.

Be Patient

Give the room a chance to answer you. Patience is a virtue. And if after awhile, people don't respond, perhaps they don't know the answer or they did not see your question. Do ask again or address someone directly. Do not be offended if people do not or are unable to respond to you.

Should anyone wish to make an appeal or complaint about the behaviour of someone in the chatroom, please copy paste the relevant chat in an email to us at care@kechara.com and state the date and time of the respective conversation.

Niguma is considered one of the most important and influential yoginis and Vajrayana teachers. A mysterious eleventh-century Kashmiri woman who became the source of a major Tibetan Buddhist practice lineage. Niguma was considered an emanation of the great dakini Mandarava. The legacy of Niguma’s teachings and spiritual practices is still available today within the Shangpa Kagyu tradition. Her teachings are also embodied within the Gelug school as well as the other sects of Tibetan Buddhism. Interesting related to Niguma and Khyungpo Naljor about the 500 gold coins and so forth. A very rare insight into the unusual role of women in the development of Buddhist history.
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor David so this sharing.

I was once a hypocrites before but coming to Dharma I came out from a nut shell and still learning. Positive thinking, rather, is used so that we can learn, grow, and evolve from what we experience in life. When failure is possible, view it as a challenge, as it makes us stronger. Accept whatever comes along , mistakes and try to correct it and move on. Its better to learn our mistakes then not knowing it. I don’t mind to accept mistakes as I learn from it , with a positive mind. Profound teachings indeed.
Thank you Rinpoche for this great teachings. Will read again and again to remind myself.

Great teachings …..doing purification practice through Vajrasattva’s practice and prostrations. I have plenty to go , glad to come across this old article which I will try to absolve whatever much I could. Reading it , I realised its indeed a very beneficial and effective practice in purifying our negative karma. Since the MCO I have been doing prostrations I could feel a peace and calmness within my mind.
Thank you Rinpoche for this great teaching which I truly treasured.

The Potala Palace is a fortress in the city of Lhasa, in Tibet. It was once a winter imperial palace of the Dalai Lamas but has been a museum since then . This palace is the highest ancient palace in the world, it also once served as a seat of government, and monastery, it’s now a must visit place for Tibet . As the most iconic architecture and top UNESCO world heritage Site in Tibet, at 3750 m . From the Palace one could see the whole area of the Holy Lhasa city. constructed in the 18th century, is a masterpiece of Tibetan art. The beauty of this Palace and the ancient architecture of the buildings integration in a striking landscape, added to their historic and religious interest. Hundred thousands of pilgrims visited this Holy city yearly. I am fortunate to have gone to this Holy sites with my friends. Worth going on a pilgrimage .

Dungkar Lozang Trinlé a Tibetan historian and Buddhist scholar was one of the most important Tibetan historians of the 20th century. He was recognised as the eighth incarnation of Dungdkar Rinpoche. an expert on traditional poetics and a campaigner for modern Tibetan education and cultural development, a rare polymath among Tibetan scholars of the 20th century. After years of forced labour during the Cultural Revolution, he became a leading advocate of education in the Tibetan language. His legacy lives on till this day in his prodigious array of Tibetan-language historical texts and important commentaries on religious subjects. He was well known, recognized by many and also internationally.

Thank you for the interesting sharing, I love using natural remedies as it helps me in many ways and furthermore it is organic. Besides, easily available in our garden and flower pots.

Herbal and natural remedies are very popular methods used today since it has many medical benefits. Herbal remedies have proven effective in healing serious illnesses without leaving any side effects.

Many plant based herbs remedies are safe to consume and help us to relief symptoms faster. Natural remedies can be prepared easily and less time consuming. Most of them are widely used for immediate relief from symptoms, boost energy or lose weight, but we need to be very careful choosing the right herbs.

Panchen Sonam Drakpa the Fifteenth Ganden Tripa, throneholder of Ganden Monastery was a great master, writer, abbot of all monastic universities. His texts form the core curriculum for most Gelugpa monasteries. He was unique, having served as abbot of the three main Gelug monasteries – Ganden, Sera and Drepung. His collected works spans fourteen volumes, constituting the main textbooks which are used till today in the educational curriculum. His works are highly regarded and been relied on by monks to this day in Drepung Loseling and Ganden Shartse Monasteries. He worked for the welfare of others and the Dharma until he entered clear light.
Interesting read of a GREAT Lama.

History is full of unexplained mysteries, and for some reason, we as humans tend to concentrate on the mysterious things more than the undeniable facts. I do enjoyed reading all these mysteries , unexplained and unsolved events. Every one of us might has had weird experiences, things that happen in life. Unexplained phenomena always caught the public eyes imagination. Due to some sort of supernatural connection, it could be strange sightings. Amazing of how Astronaut carving was found on a cathedral that was built 1100 years ago. A picture of a giant mystery river snake wending its way down a tropical river, in Southeast Asia . This I have read about it sometimes ago in papers. A great grandmother’s face seen in the photo of an American girl taken in her cell phone . Well these pictures were unexplained and very mysteries indeed.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this .

Interesting read ….Sonam Yeshe Wangpo was unmistaken incarnation of Panchen Sonam Drakpa. At such a young tulku (reincarnated lama), he was already giving teachings and inspired those present in the hall. He completed his monastic ordination under many great masters , abbots and so forth. He did travelled tremendously and giving various teachings. Throughout the journey he even composed notable verses of praise of the Dalai Lama along with many ritual liturgies. However, he entered clear light when he was only 37 years old.
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor David for this sharing.

What a cool concept to create Buddhist gardeners who do actual farming and also farm/cultivate their minds. Traditional Tibetan prayer flags, prayer bells, and prayer wheels can be seen and heard in every part of the Odiyan mandala complex .

The Odiyan Retreat Center as a sanctuary, both spiritual and ecological , and one that has created a wholesome community living within it, is a must to visit.Thank you very much for the wonderful article.

The temple grounds consisting of over 400 rai of land is famous for its large Buddha statues overlooking the town. The breathtaking vistas from the upper temple grounds are unmatched anywhere in Thailand.
The temple has a meditation center , teaching center for monks, and youths as well as a drug rehabilitation center. A temple is a perfect place for meditation and study.Thank you very much for the good article.

H H the 16th Karmapa was one of the greatest meditation masters of the 20th century. A great master who demonstrated intuitive wisdom, joy, and loving kindness, his compassionate activity for others being beyond words . He was such a highly respected teacher , well known among many practitioners across the Himalayas which also includes the royal families of Sikkim and Bhutan . It seem that masters of the other lineages would also consult him for help and advice. The life and legacy of H H the 16th Karmapa lives on through his reincarnation, Thaye Dorje, H H the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa. The 16th Karmapa was considered to be a “living Buddha” and was deeply involved in the transmission of the Vajrayana Buddhism to Europe and North America. He had travelled tremendously giving teachings then. Interesting read .
Although the time is a little early, in the future you will
definitely need to rely on this deity (Dorje Shugden).” – His Holiness 16th Karmapa.
Yes it true as we could see now more and more people are relying on this Powerful Protector nowadays.

Three interesting stories from this blog.
Animals that are held by humans and prevented from escaping is sad. They are been held in captivity in cages, bad for their welfare. Well those animals are deprived of their natural habitat , even experience a lower quality of life. They can feel and many show signs of depression and stress. The Chapultepec Park Zoo in Mexico City , houses almost 2000 animals from more than 200 species. Activist from the Animal Naturalis organization protest the captivity of these wild animals.
Blue penguins found washed up on northern east coast beaches. The number of injured birds was unusual. The penguin were suffering from head and leg injuries. Sylvia Durrant and Annwyne Stanish, were volunteers has help to rescue injured penguins.
It’s a huge problem, a dilapidated Simone Hotel, was to be demolished. Friendly residents on Ocean Drive, and cat activists, raised awareness of homeless cats living there. The residents managed to get a temporary postpone against the owner to demolise the hotel. A dozen of kittens were saved and given a home. That’s wonderful ,they given a chance to live like human. The area state laws are against intentionally hurting or killing animals.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing of compassionate people saving animals. They do anything to safe, love and care for those who cant speak for themselves.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer

Thanks to the effort of our outstation team, we were able to mobilise food provisions to 600 families living in Kelantan, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor during the Raya period with each of these families receiving RM200 worth of provisions. Adding onto the current 368 families in Klang Valley, a total of 968 families were benefitted from this. Special thanks to the sponsors who have contributed especially Hong Leong Foundation and partially from Tesco Malaysia (where we also ordered the provisions from). ~ Vivian @ Kechara Soup Kitchen

More photos taken from our "Hari Raya Hampers" distribution this week. Making sure everyone of our clients have something to be cheerful about. Apart from food, daily used items such as hygiene products, kitchen utensils, assorted fabric items, stationary items and toys were also included into our hamper bags making it extra heavier this month! Food items alone were about 35kg per family! Taking this opportunity to wish everyone of our Muslim volunteers, friends, supporters and clients a Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Maaf Zahir Batin. No doubt this year's celebration will be very different but appreciate everyone is safe and protected from the pandemic. We are in this together and let's work to fight this pandemic together! Thanking all sponsors and donors for the generous support enabling us to continue serve the needy with food, love and care. Amongst all pujas, the fire puja is considered the king of all Pujas. It is the most powerful of all pujas within Tibetan Buddhism and its purpose is basically to remove all obstacles and its stains to enlightenment.
