Our 1st Tea House in Shanghai!!!!

Sep 8, 2011 | Views: 3,189

On 27 August 2011, Kechara Tea House (KTH) officially opened in Shanghai!!

The official opening was spread over two days: a cocktail party on 27thAugust and a brunch on 28thAugust. Many guests, including Kecharians from KL and Bangkok flew in to attend and support the event.

The interior design of the tea house has a contemporary and spiritual touch… and the food follows the same style! They have a wide selection of interesting vegetarian and vegan dishes and creative tea beverages. During the opening, guests were able to sample the tasting menu such as the open face mushroom sandwich, roasted eggplant lasagna, tea mojito and Ruby Tara Mar-tea-ni (non-alcoholic, of course!). I heard that many people particularly enjoyed the vegetable lasagna and the various tea concoctions. How wonderful that the tea house has such a great chef to entice people through vegetarian options!!

Kechara Tea House is our very first Kechara branch in Shanghai, China. Two Kecharians who are based in Shanghai, Phng Li Kheng and Christine Wang, took it upon themselves to make this Tea House happen! Together with Datuk May Phng, President of Kechara House, all three women have worked very hard to oversee and source for everything… from the place to the architect, to the decorative items, furniture, renovation and food items. I sincerely thank them from the bottom of my heart for their compassion and sincere dedication!

Phng Li Kim, CEO of Kechara Media & Publications, flew in to support and was the MC for both occasions (cocktail party and brunch). During the opening night, Phng Li Kheng and Christine Wang gave their official speeches. After the speeches were given, a small token of appreciation was presented to the investors of Kechara Tea House by Datuk May Phng and Henry Ooi (Vice-President of Kechara House). According to those who went, the opening ceremony was well-organized and went very smoothly. Guests were entertained, the company was warm and the vibe throughout the event was celebratory!

I am so proud of Li Kheng and Christine. They took on the challenge, to inspire others to choose a kind and healthy lifestyle. They chose a meaningful path in their life to benefit others and to promote vegetarianism through a fun and modern way. Fantastic! Fantastic! Fantastic! Creating healthy, happy and spiritual lifestyles…I met Christine maybe 6 times. I met Li Kheng maybe 10 times…my point? I have hardly spent time with them, nurtured them, yet they can do so much and commit with so little time from me. They demand nothing from me…. Incredible. There are sometimes people you spend so much time and effort and they feel it’s not enough. These two can produce so much in a short space of time with little coaching…they have asked nothing of me and no demands…they just get the work done….wow…thank you two for your great examples…It shows you are with me for purely Dharma reasons. Inspiring to me….Yes, that’s how you inspire a Dharma teacher to continue turning the wheel of Dharma. They do what they say, demand nothing and do it for the good of others…

Li Kheng who is the youngest daughter of Datuk May Phng, is a young, intelligent woman, with a lot of integrity. When she commits and makes a promise to do something, she will make sure she does it well and all the way. She has been instrumental in holding everything together for Kechara Tea House. She has to juggle between her work and everything for the Tea House, but still remains so dedicated in all her duties and responsibilities.

Christine decided to leave her full time job to run the Tea House full time! Although she is so new to this, and to Kechara, she has taken a leap of faith to do something more meaningful in her life. During her speech she said that it was when she came for the Gompa Opening in November 2010, it made her think and search for something more to do in her life. I am glad that she has found it. Christine is a good friend of Li Kheng, and is a successful, bright and dynamic lady who has also been working very hard to get the Tea House ready.

I thank these two ladies very very much, and hope that the Tea House will do well in Shanghai. Thank you, Li Kheng and Christine, for being an inspiration to many people, and for wanting to make a difference in the lifestyle of others and believing in a compassionate, spiritual, kind and healthy life that is possible in modern growing China. It is another historical event for Kechara, and the Tea House will continuously improve and grow tremendously to benefit others.

Do take a look at the photos of the opening below! I have also added a video of the opening…

The tea house is located in Red Town, G113, Building 28, 570 Huaihai (W) Road, Shanghai. It is opened from 8am to 9.30pm and contact is: +86 21 5237 1716. Do visit when you’re in Shanghai!

Again, I am very proud of our first branch in China. Wonderful!!

A message from Li Kheng:

“Thank you for your generous and enthusiastic congratulatory messages!

It is pretty awesome to take a step back and look at Kechara Tea House and what it represents: A lifestyle for the 21st century based on compassion.

Kechara Tea House is an effort to epitomize the teachings of Lord Buddha as taught by H.E Tsem Rinpoche, whom I thank profusely from my heart. It is with the teachings and care of Rinpoche that the idea of using my abilities to benefit others could be conceived. It is with Rinpoche’s wisdom that a “commercial” person like me could use my secular experience to garner the chance to live a more purposeful and rewarding life.

Kechara Tea House is created with the guidance and blessing of Rinpoche to provide a tasty and healthy dining solution that is simultaneously kind to environment and animals. The tea house is fashioned around our modern lifestyle where we continue to enjoy a delectable meal in a stylish setting. The only thing that changes is our motivation to benefit another life every time we choose to go vegetarian for the meal: Nothing changes, everything changes!

Kechara Tea House’s first outlet would not have opened smoothly without the skillful coaching of Datuk May who has been a pillar of strength to ensure that every aspect of the tea house is set up by the highest standard befitting the name of Kechara and our Guru – H.E Tsem Rinpoche.

Also, sincere thanks to fellow Kecharians. Not only did many of you come all the way to Shanghai to grace this event with your presence, you have been an inspiration through your dedication to Kechara House in Malaysia, Thailand and the Internet. I pray that Kecharians will continue to inspire and make a difference to any more people.

Lastly, I would like to scream a huge THANK YOU to my dear friend Christine! Thank you for your fierce passion in the Dharma and faith in this vision. You have certainly displayed true courage in your leap of faith as you leave your comfort zone and begin a journey that will make a difference to so many beings. To a rare jewel of a person: Christine!

It is such an honor to be blessed with the opportunity to create something that can bring benefit to others.

Next time you are in Shanghai, come join us for a meal that is Kind & Kinda Delicious!  We await your visit at Kechara Tea House.”

when I lived in Shanghai, there was a branch of Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Coffee_Bean_%26_Tea_Leaf
    behind Jingan Temple
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jingan_Temple
that had a Dorje Shugden statue, in a cabinet, but it was only visible in the morning, after which the cabinet door was closed and it wasn’t apparent what was in the storage space . . . . .
loads and loads of Tibetan Lamas coming to Shanghai, of many different lineages, including Bon and Jonangpa, I met a Dorje Shugden Lama at a Kopi Luwak https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kopi_Luwak coffeeshop on Fahuazhen Lu – quite a fashionable little street with quite upmarket bars and restaurants – ain’t life surprising

    可喜可贺,真心祝贺上海 Tea House 大展宏图,也非常期待不久的将来中国所有大城市都有我们克切拉茶坊的存在。也同时希望在欧美国家也会有同样的茶坊出现,让克切拉精神转播出去。

    Dear Rinpoche,

I am terribly sorry for such a late reply due to the VPN issue…Even though Likheng has already “ warned” me that many people commented on Rinpoche’s blog about the opening of Kechara Tea House. But when I read the blog today, I was so surprised that my mouth kept open for a while! I never expect the opening of Kechara Tea House would have caught so much attention and it was totally overwhelming to read so many kind words from dear Rinpoche! Thank you Rinpoche!

Rinpoche, you said “ Thank you “ to us many times but it should be us to say “ Thank you” to Rinpoche for inspiring us and guiding us and changing our lives! It should be us to say that Rinpoche never asked anything from us but bless us and nurture us for our benefit. We can never pay back enough to equal what Rinpoche has benefited us. I would be still sitting in the office thinking about what to do off work if I didn’t have the chance to meet Rinpoche in this life.

We are so lucky! SO LUCKY!

And I want to thank Datuk May specially for making the pursuit of my Dharma journey possible! It’s such an honor to have the opportunity to learn from Datuk May about business and life!

It was very sweet to see all the nice Kecharians in Shanghai for the opening party. Felt like families coming to our graduation ceremony. ☺ Really appreciate their support and effort and all these kind words left at the blog…

And to Likheng, my darling friend and Dharma sister, and now my business partner, what can I say? I admire her energy and loyalty to Dharma work and thank her for watching over me with love and patience. She has worked so hard day and night and took the lead to make all this happen. I would like to scream back to her an even bigger “THANK YOU” for being such a wonderful friend!

Rinpoche’s teaching has inspired many of my friends to see their lives in a different way. I really hope that Kechara Tea House will attract more and more people so they will have the opportunities to experience Rinpoche’s teaching that simply start from eating deliciously food without killing another being.

Again, thank you so much Rinpoche for promoting Kechara Tea House Shanghai at the blog. I hope our Tea House will become one of the hot sightseeing spots for Kacharians and other friends when they visit in Shanghai!

    With love,
    Christine

Christine, my dear Li Kheng and her Datuk mama,
Opening a tea house to spread the Dharmma?
Who would have dared to do what they do?
Three gutsy ladies inspired by our caring Guru.
You are now such a great inspiration to all of us,
Knowing that you worked on this from morn to dusk.
No doubts it will be such a great success,
So many sentient beings will be blessed.
Congratulations to you all is the general order of the day,
May the next Kechara tea house not be far off from today!

  20. Paul Yap on Sep 10, 2011 at 10:16 pm

Congratulations to Li Kheng, Christine, Datuk May for creating the first Kechara deparment in Shanghai! I was fortunate to be able to personally witness the opening and saw how they worked so hard to get the tea house open in time. I know it is not easy but they DID it. They are brave and focus on the objective to make this possible.

Thank you ladies for bring Kechara officially on the map of China. Hurray!

  22. Li Kim on Sep 10, 2011 at 8:43 pm

Li Kheng and Christine have been wonderful in making the first Kechara Tea House in Shanghai manifest. It takes a lot of courage to take this on. It is no doubt that with the inspiration and guidance from Rinpoche, and the guidance from our mother Datuk May, they cannot go wrong BUT it is still pure courage and commitment from both these young ladies that I am inspired by. Why? They could have easily started a business in the “norm” of things like a fashion shop, or even a wine bar, which would be easily accepted BUT they chose to create something new and different.

Kechara Tea House is done beautifully – simple yet elegant. More importantly the ambience is cosy and bright. Very very nice. And the food – Delicious! The drinks – Creative and thirst quenching. The tea mocktails make not drinking alcohol cool!

As Li Kheng’s sister, I am so so very very proud of her. And she did it all without a sweat and full of grace. And Christine, for someone so new to Dharma, to leave her well-paying job to commit to this simply because she believes in compassion and Rinpoche is truly inspiring and admirable.

All the best Li Kheng and Christine! May many many more Kechara Tea Houses blossom in China!

    Kechara Tea House in Shanghai:

“A small step for Kechara, a giant leap for Dharma.”

  24. David Lai on Sep 10, 2011 at 7:56 pm

This is amazing! This is a historical moment as Kechara enters China. I do hope more of such cafes mushroom all over Shanghai, Beijing and other major Chinese cities. China is expanding economically and growing at such a phenomenal rate that materialism is rampant resulting in millions of unhappy and dissatisfied rich people. Therefore, Kechara has a huge role to play by introducing Dharma in a modern and conducive way that the Chinese would be able to embrace and benefitted.

Congratulations to these wonderful girls. They are a beacon of inspiration for young spiritual and progressive city girls for others who are like them.

  25. abby on Sep 10, 2011 at 7:22 pm

It’s a lovely news!! Glad to hear that 🙂
This is a good start and im really excited!
I wish to be there in the future to help or whatsoever.
Kechara goes to CHINA!! yay ^^V Congratulation!
All the best and good luck to all!

  26. Margaretlee on Sep 10, 2011 at 5:19 pm

Chinese are tea drinkers by culture…….And Shanghai is a cosmopolitan city with much western influence. The conceptualization of a tea house with all the western savouries (vegetarian of course) and alike is just a genius idea to be the power house to bring dharma in contemporary setting to all….

Love the idea and and rejoice in all the people who involved in executing this plan.

“Thank you” is never enough …. to Rinpoche, Datuk May, Li Kheng Christine, generous sponsors and many hard working staff behind this project.

I rejoice with all of you and wish I could have a “Honey Date” or a “Ruby Tara Mar-Tea-Ni” very soon in the first and ever “KECHARA TEA HOUSE” in Shanghai!

May Dharma grows and spread through Kechara Tea House……

  27. Nicholas on Sep 10, 2011 at 4:46 pm

Wow…..Kechara Tea House is really beautiful….

Congratulation to Li Kheng & Christine. The result from their hard work really inspire me. As mentioned by Rinpoche, they spend less time with Rinpoche by there are able to do so much. This is truly guru devotion.

Having Kechara Tea House in Shanghai shows our expansion to China and at the same time in Thailand. Kechara is really growing and for the spreading of Lama Tsongkhapa doctrine and Rinpoche’s teaching.

Thanks again to Datuk May, Li Kheng & Christine and their team for making this tea house happen. It’s really nice and I know this is just the starting point. With their effort it will grow and benefit more and more people in China.

Way to go dragon ladies of Kechara, pioneering the first branch of Kechara into China. And to think these two key ladies have only met Rinpoche not so many times in the past two years and yet they produce such a big result.

I do hope I can be in Shanghai to enjoy the drinks and food there.
Hmmm will the tea house also manifest in Malaysia?

Congratulations to Kechara Tea House Shanghai! I like the juxtaposition of raw material and modern structure of the interior and also its facade. It somehow can connect to the idea of it is possible to lead a healthy meat-free diet in our busy and stressful life, especially in metropolitan Shanghai.

Kechara is so blessed to have some powerful potent female who make the huge leap forward within Kechara and for Kechara. Thank you Datuk May, Li Kheng, Christine and those who worked hard to realise the vision of Kechara stepping into China. They showed us nothing can defeat us if you really have the sincerity to spread dharma to others. They are truly inspiring and i respect them a lot.

  66. Sock Wan on Sep 9, 2011 at 11:48 am

This is so nice to see Kechara reaching China. I am really impressed with Li Kheng and Christine’s determination to bring Rinpoche’s teachings and Dharma to the people in China.

These 2 young ladies are real Dharma practitioners, even though they hardly see Rinpoche but it does not stop them from wanting to stay with Kechara and spread Dharma to people. We should learn from them, always ask ourselves why are we in Kechara? Is it because of Rinpoche or Dharma? Personally, it was Rinpoche who brought me to the world of Dharma by the way Rinpoche gives teachings. To repay the kindness of Rinpoche is to continue with the of spreading Dharma, benefiting others even when Rinpoche is not with me physically.

  67. KYC on Sep 9, 2011 at 11:02 am

The Kechara Tea House is beautiful and modern. It will certainly attract many people. I can see that a lot of hard work has gone into the opening of the tea house. This is tremendous, a big step forward in Kechara’s history and journey. I am sorry I couldn’t be there but a massive congratulations and THANK YOU for all you are doing to bring the Tsongkhapa and Dharma to China, and to bring such a powerful message of kindness and compassion to a country that is famously known for eating “anything with its back to the sun”. Thank you for creating the beginnings of what will become great education, sharing, practice and transformation.

Big love and smush hugs to Li Kheng and Christine too. It is just what Rinpoche has said, that you have given so much without having asked for anything back. In between all this, LiKheng and Christine have also been instrumental in helping Kechara Media & Publications in various matters which have contributed so so so much. Thank you for all your care – it really shows what amazing, sincere, kind hearts you have. You’ve shown us that nothing is impossible if we just put our minds to it – it’s not whether we can do something, it’s how much we want to.

When will you be coming to KL again so we can give you giant smushy hugs! Or we come up to Shanghai and go for massive double celebrations (KTH and KMP)!

Big big love and thank yous again… most of all for just being you!

  99. Philip Yong on Sep 8, 2011 at 11:46 pm

How amazing Kechara has expanded to China! I’ve always love the topic of entrepreneurship and I’ve always believe there should be more social entrepreneurs out there who use their skill and innovates not only for profit but also in the way we do charity or in this Dharma. That to me is a true success of an entrepreneur.

As far as I am concerned, Tsem Rinpoche is the only one ‘entrepreneur’ who has skillfully spread the Dharma through various creative ways.

Congratulations on the opening of the tea house! May there be more branches soon all over China, Malaysia and the world as a whole!

I went there again 2 days after the opening and to my surprise Christine told me that they have sold off all their food and cakes for the day! And that was only 3pm!!! It is really a good start and may dharma grow in China with KTH.

    Congratulations to Kechara Tea House!!!

Christine and Li Kheng are indeed very dedicated to bring Dharma to more people, with their talents and skills, I believe that this will be a successful first step in China.

    Wish them all the best!!

Christine, I want to give you a big hug when i come, you hv done a good job!! Respect you so much!!

I had the privilege to attend Kechara Tea House’s opening. It is such wonderful to see Kechara spreading her wings to Shanghai. By using modern way of lifestyle, Kechara Tea House will attract a lot of young crowd to start vegetarianism and cultivate the compassionate habit.

Li Kheng is very special. She doesn’t complain and just get the job done. I truly rejoice for what Datuk May, Li Kim and Li Kheng had done for Dharma!!

Visiting Tibet, holy Gaden Monastery is everyone dream and a once life time. Of course if we have the means to visit again will be great. End of December 2008 and early January 2009 our Guru H E Tsem Rinpoche with a small group students visited Tibet. Thousands of pilgrims, visitors and tourists around the world have visited this incredible holy land for the last 600 years. Tsem Rinpoche visited Tibet for the first time with an oxygen tank. I am fortunate to visit this holy place with my Dharma brothers and sisters years back.
With our Guru blessing we went without any without any hitch. Visited most of the monasteries and could feel the powerful energies there. Looking at those pictures in this blog reminds me of trip there.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

Interesting….. a ground breaking documentary by world BBC where everyone should watch. BBC did mentioned and documented that Jesus was a Buddhist monk and that he had spent some years in India. I would not know about this till I came across this blog. Many people most probably too. Interesting watch one should not miss. Jesus was a religious leader revered in Christianity, one of the world’s major religions. He is regarded by most Christians as the Incarnation of God. Historical evidence indicates that Jesus was well acquainted with Buddhism. Historical evidence indicates that Jesus knew about Buddhism. Other evidence, while perhaps apocryphal, indicates that he spent most of his so-called lost years outside Judea, possibly in Kashmir to study Buddhism exclusively.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

The Great Buddhas of Bamiyan were two monumental Buddhist statues built around 600 CE. A holy site for Buddhists on the Silk Road, historically a caravan route linking the markets of China with those of the Western world. The two most prominent statues were the giant standing sculptures of the Buddhas .It was the site of several Buddhist monasteries where monks at the monasteries lived as hermits. It was until in 2001, both statues were destroyed by the Taliban . Before being blown up in 2001, they were the largest examples of standing Buddha carvings in the world .Buddhism was eliminated in Afghanistan by the 13th century during the Mongol conquests. Sadly all statues depicting humans in Afghanistan was destroyed. They were perhaps the most famous cultural landmarks of the region, and the site was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Despite the Buddhas’s destruction, the ruins continue to be a popular culture landmark, where many locals, pilgrims and tourist visit the site.
Thank you Rinpoche for this interesting blog.

Ven. Kyabje Yongyal Rinpoche was born in Eastern Tibet, recognized as the fourth reincarnation of Kyabje Yongyal Rinpoche. Well he was known for his purity in holding his vinaya vows. Even though he left Tibet in 1959 and settled in India, he had inspired, and supported the Sangha community, working tirelessly giving teachings at Sera Monastery in India . He also continued in protecting, preserving and propagating the Buddhadharma all over the world. H E Tsem Rinpoche first met him about 15 years in Sera Monastery and the last time in Gaden Monastery. Kyabje Yongyal Rinpoche knew that Tsem Rinpoche in New York back in 2013 and decided to meet up with Rinpoche. Looking at those beautiful photos tells all . Its truly rejoiced moment .
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing with precious photos taken during Rinpoche visit.

The general preliminaries are the four contemplations on precious human body, impermanence and death, cause and effect of karma, and the defects of samsara. The special preliminaries are taking refuge, arousing bodhicitta, the recitation and meditation of Vajrasattva, mandala offerings, and guru yoga. The purpose of life is to benefit other sentient beings and the greatest benefit we can offer them is to liberate them from their suffering and its causes. We have to purify all the negative karma and defilements we have collected over our beginning-less rebirths and accumulate extensive merit. These are the conditions necessary for us to actualize the path. Well we have received just this once the most precious human life ,we have to make our life as meaningful as possible. The purpose of doing preliminary practices is for us to purify obstacles to achieving realizations of the path to enlightenment for the sake of all sentient beings. I am still doing my best .
Great sharing thank you Rinpoche and Pastor David for this important write up .

The Heart Sutra teaches emptiness through the epitome of compassion. It is often said that, the heart of emptiness is compassion. It’s an attribute by which we sees the suffering of another and experiences true empathy for them. This empathy, in turn, leads the person to reach out and share in the person’s suffering. By helping them to endure whatever they are going through regardless of race and religion. Our prime purpose in this life is to help and benefit others. Well if we can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them. Treat others as we would like others to treat us. Always wish upon others and showing kindness to those who are feeling sad or upset to help them feel better. Lend a shoulder to them to lean on. Emptiness can be explored through meditation and contemplation. By observing the impermanence and interdependence of all things, we can gradually come to understand the true nature of reality. We have to understand the actual words of the Heart Sutra and its meaning within the Buddhist tradition as well as the meanings of emptiness. Will revisit this blog to read, learn more .
Thank you Rinpoche for this profound teachings.

The concept of Dharma is considered to be accessible and applicable to everyone, regardless of their religious background. Dharma, in its essence, is about understanding and living in accordance with universal principles of righteousness and ethical conduct. The core of the doctrine of dharma, especially in Buddhism, is about understanding the nature of suffering, the cause of suffering, the possibility of ending suffering, and the path to liberation through ethical conduct, mindfulness, and wisdom. Dharma is the essential teachings to transform our mind towards that of an enlightened being. Learning and putting what we learn into practice helped us to become a better person. Dharma is for everyone, reading those stories as in the blog give us a clear understanding. Nor matter what religion we are , we are taught to be loving, compassion and living peacefully.
Thank you Rinpoche for these great teachings.

Generosity is giving more than we can, and pride is taking less than we need. Giving is an action; generosity is a matter of the heart. Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present. Sharing one’s resources and helping others in need. We have not lived today until we have done something for someone who can never repay you. A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article.

n Buddhism, Dharma refers to the teachings of the Buddha and the true nature of reality. It also encompasses principles like the Eightfold Path, which guides individuals towards enlightenment and liberation from suffering. A Dharma attitude involves fulfilling one’s responsibilities and duties towards oneself, others, and the environment. Dharma work helps us to focus on benefiting others instead of ourselves. Each one of us has different ideas, approaches and methods to do dharma work. As long as its benefits others and
taking responsibility for our own actions transforming others with love and generosity. It is important to embrace our imperfections as embracing puts us on a better path of acceptance and self-discovery.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this.

Buddhism is one of the most ancient belief systems and is practiced today by nearly 350 million people around the world.
Bettany Mary Hughes is an English historian, author, and broadcaster, specialising in classical history. Bettany Hughes travelled to the seven wonders of the Buddhist world. Where she documented a unique insight into the seven wonders that explained the long and rich history of Buddhism 2500 years ago . Truly fascinating documentary that’s one should watch. Started off her journey with Bodh Gaya in India, the Bodanath Stupa in Nepal, the Temple of The Tooth in Sri Lanka, Wat Pho Temple in Thailand, Angkor Wat in Cambodia, the Giant Buddha in Hong Kong and the Hsi Lai Temple in the United States. At each location, she meets with Buddhist scholars who explain the different concepts that form the core of Buddhist philosophy, giving insight into the long and rich history of Buddhism. Interesting sharing.

Religious discrimination remains a significant issue globally, impacting various aspects of life. The Dorje Shugden controversy in Tibetan Buddhism involves accusations of religious discrimination against devotees of the Poweful Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. Dorje Shugden was a powerful Protector associated with the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. H H the Dalai Lama previously practice Dorje Shugden’s practice but somehow later discouraged the practice, citing concerns about sectarianism ,its perceived role as a spirit. Dorje Shugden’s practitioners have reported feeling ostracized and discriminated against by the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) and those supporting the Dalai Lama. The controversy has divided the Tibetan community and has been a source of contention and tension. CTA had breached the rights of every Dorje Shugden practitioners to what they pray . Many families are torn apart by this. Dorje Shugden people had to break away from their monasteries .Religious freedom and human rights are interconnected. Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion regardless of race and faith. Religious freedom is one of the most fundamental of human rights. The discrimination that Dorje Shugden practitioners are experiencing today has similarities to other historic bigotry and prejudices such example was the African American Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s,and the Women’s Suffrage Movement. Racism affects virtually every country in the world. It denies people their full human rights just because of their colour, race, ethnicity, descent or national origin. The most prevalent discrimination that we see today are national origin and race discrimination. May there be peace, unity, harmony and based on compassion, acceptance and universal freedom of religious choice without discrimination or recriminations of any kind.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

The Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala, India is said to be thousands of years old, built in the Dravidian style, and houses more secrets than most people can ever dream of. That’s interesting. This temple is a legendary secret chamber that has remained unopened for centuries. Legends and local beliefs it is protected by powerful deities and a curse. The door is said to be sealed with a mystical spell, and it is believed that anyone attempting to open it without proper rituals will face grave consequences, having met with mysterious deaths or terrible misfortune. Locals had warns that attempting to open Vault B without proper rituals and respect for the deities could unleash untold calamities and misfortune. Stories abound of previous attempts to open the vault had failed that resulted in terrifying visions and other supernatural occurrences, and tragic fates for those involved. Some believe that the vault contained ancient treasures , wealth and divine relics . Previously temple workers reportedly tried to force open the door, resulting in the terrifying experiences described in legends. It’s not just a place of worship but also a vault of mysteries. Modern attempts using technology have also failed to open the door, as if some force is protecting it. Every attempt to open Vault B has failed. The door remains closed, and no one know of the contents within, whether wealth, divine relics, or something else entirely, are unknown to the world . No one dare to try opening it since at least the 1880s recording to reports. Interesting article .

Revisit this interesting truth where not many people knew the actual story behind . With great effort and research finally the story unfolded. In Tibet, Oracles play, an important part in principal roles assisting governmental decision-making and providing intelligence revelation, religion, doctrine, and prophecy. To this day the Tibetan government still believe and rely in Nechung Oracle. When Nechung oracle took trance, it is actually spirit Nyatrul who has causes problems and misprophecies. Nechung is bound by oath to protect the Dharma. Nechung prophecies are unreliable, most probably given by Nyatrul spirit to the Tibetan government. Such as wrong medication given to the 13 th Dalai Lama as prescribed by the Nechung Oracle. Another misprophecies was during the British invasion. If it was really Nechung who took trance of the Oracle, these types of misprophecies would not have happen. As mentioned in the 6th Dalai Lama biography, we cannot trust or rely on Nechung’s prophecies. It was said that Nyatrul not Nechung who created the problems and harm to Dorje Shugden . It must have told HH the Dalai Lama to ban Dorje Shugden .
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor Jean Ai for this interesting article.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

Find one of the most beautiful temples in the world in Nara, Japan. It is the 1,267 year old Todai-ji temple that houses a 15 meter Buddha Vairocana statue who is a cosmic and timeless Buddha. Emperor Shomu who sponsored this beautiful temple eventually abdicated and ordained as a Buddhist monk. Very interesting history and story. What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
