Malaysia has a very brisk and thriving tourist industry and one of the main attractions in the country is Petaling Street. It’s a famous night street-market in the capital city Kuala Lumpur, and an iconic must-see for all tourists. There are hundreds of outdoor stalls under a covered road so that come rain or shine, tourists can come here to look for cheap clothes, electronics, enjoy local Malaysian food, etc.

Today on October 24, 2018 a group of my students surprised me with an offering of a Dorje Shugden store. They sent all the pictures that you can enjoy below. The store’s official opening was today and I had no idea they were planning this. I was really overwhelmed and moved to receive the news, and I really thank them for all their hard work. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of tourists pass through Petaling Street every single year and this Dorje Shugden store looks out onto the main thoroughfare. Inside the store is all kinds of Dorje Shugden items like books, CDs, postcards, pendants, statues and so on for tourists, locals and foreign visitors to invite home with them. So many people can see the benefits of Dorje Shugden practice and the demand for his items such as pictures, posters, statues, pendants, tsa tsas, books, key chains, thangkas and so forth are growing. We aim to provide these items for people from this new store and many other venues (www.vajrasecrets.com) we have. I have full conviction in Dorje Shugden and I know he will benefit so many who invoke upon him sincerely.

I would like to say I felt so touched, I had no idea that any of this was being organised and it came as a total (pleasant) shock to me. I actually shed a few tears because I was so touched by all the effort into making this manifest. Again, thank you to everyone who worked so hard on this so that Dorje Shugden can continue to connect with and bless countless beings from our beautiful country of Malaysia where I have made my home. I believe many people who are sometimes in difficult situations, no matter what their religion is or their lack of religion, if they sincerely propitiate Dorje Shugden, he will definitely help. And this is my way of bringing benefit to others. I bring Dorje Shugden to many who need assistance. He can definitely assist them as he is the emanation of the Buddha Manjushri.

Update: New Signboard!

On December 1, 2018 a new signboard was installed to the left of our shop on Petaling Street. The new signboard, which is lit up at night, greatly increases the visibility of our shop from further away. The signboard features a nice, large image of Dorje Shugden. Thank you to all who worked so hard to get this signboard installed and erected.

Dorje Shugden has been proven for helping many people around the world. Seeing this Dorje Shugden store at this busy area where it’s a hot tourist spot in Malaysia, really heart-warming. Many people will drop by and check out. From here these people will have dharma seed planted, some may invite some blessed items to bring back or as gift for their friends and families, some may ask who is Dorje Shugden and gain knowledge about him and started practicing and etc. I can only see the benefits of this store can offer. If you are in KL come and pay a visit to this store.

Congratulations to the opening of the new Dorje Shugden chapel in such a busy tourist hotspot of Kuala Lumpur! I can imagine the effort and hard work by the students of Rinpoche to get this established in time for Rinpoche’s birthday. Dorje Shugden is the emanation of Lord Manjushri, He will help everyone regardless of race and creed. In the form of an enlightened protector deity, Dorje Shugden can help us to overcome our problems such as health issue, financial issue and even relationship issue. May many many more people be blessed by Dorje Shugden.

Cool! I haven’t been to Petaling Street before so seeing this shop makes me want to visit more. The big Dorje Shugden statue looks stunning, with the golden body, the green snow lion mane and the lighting just makes it beautiful.

I am happy to see that so many people visiting this beautiful place. I hope that this place will help to spread the word about Dorje Shugden. Praying to Dorje Shugden will also bring many benefits such as:
    1) easing the suffering we endure within our minds
    2) protecting us from black magic.
    3) increasing material wealth, lifespan, and more

Thank you, Rinpoche for writing this post

    Dear friends,

Tibet has produced many powerful meditations, rituals and guidelines to help us gain spiritual protection, gain wisdom and higher states of consciousness. In general Tibet has produced many powerful methods for the growth of our spiritual evolution. Dorje Shugden is an angel, a saint, a powerful spiritual protector-warrior who originated 350 years ago when a highly awakened Tibetan Lama fulfilled his vows to become a special being to grant protection, wisdom, material needs, safety when travelling (normal and astral travel) and spiritual awakening. Both the Great 5th Dalai Lama and the current His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama composed short yet effective prayers to invoke upon the power and blessings of this special saint and protector. One can recite either one of the prayers that you feel suits you, anytime or even daily. When you feel a special need for help, you can recite either prayer anytime. When you are feeling down, afraid or just need a blessing, you can recite them. After reciting either invocation, it is good to chant the mantra of Dorje Shugden: Om Benza Wiki Bitana Soha.

You do not have to be a Buddhist or practitioner of any religion to invoke upon the blessings and protection of this special enlightened and awakened angel Dorje Shugden. He helps all without discrimination or bias as he is filled with compassion and love. Divinity has no boundaries, they help all who call upon them.

Enclosed are the prayers in English, Chinese and Tibetan.

May you be safe, protected and blessed.

“The 4th Zhabdrung Rinpoche of Bhutan and Dorje Shugden” blog post which was published June 8, 2018 already has exactly at the moment 152,744 views!! Over 150k views!!! Amazing!! The views will keep growing as time elapses of course.

This indicates many Bhutanse and Buddhists around the world will now know that Dorje Shugden is connected to Bhutan and their Kagyu Lineage. Dorje Shugden was promoted by the highest lama of Bhutan namely the 4th Zhabdrung Rinpoche himself. So Dorje Shugden will help and protect anyone and is not sectarian as they accuse him to be. People in the Kagyu school of Buddhism also practised Dorje Shugden and Dorje Shugden assisted them lovingly. Dorje Shugden being an emanation of Manjushri will help anyone who calls upon him regardless of their background and religion.

Good job to our writers, researchers, editors, technical team, supporting team and Kechara people who promoted this blog post on social media. Now more will come to understand how pervasive Dorje Shugden is in all the lineages of Tibetan Buddhism although the Tibetan leadership in-exile tries to hide this truth. Thank you everyone for promoting Dorje Shugden to benefit many. We were all very harmonious before the unethical ban against Dorje Shugden practitioners. Since the inception of the ban in 1996, there has been no benefits and instead so much disharmony among Tibetan Buddhists around the world. Many hundreds have spoken up about this point where we want harmony back. There should never be a ban against any spiritual practice.

His Eminence Kyabje Dagom Rinpoche’s incarnation is in Lhasa visiting. He is visiting the 350-year-old Trode Khangsar chapel dedicated to Dorje Shugden. He is paying homage to the powerful statue of Dorje Shugden housed in this sacred chapel. Both the chapel and statue of Dorje Shugden were commissioned by His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama. The Great 5th Dalai Lama also composed a prayer to be recited daily to Dorje Shugden.

Dagom Rinpoche’s previous lives were great masters, scholars and practitioners of Dorje Shugden. Now this new incarnation of Dagom Rinpoche is offering gold on the face of Dorje Shugden in homage and worship to this very sacred statue of Dorje Shugden housed in Lhasa for the last 350 years. This is a very traditional Tibetan method of paying homage to holy images, which is by offering gold with prayers.

The Tibetan leadership wrongly says if you practise Dorje Shugden you will take rebirth into the three lower realms. Hundreds of lamas from the Sakya, Kagyu and Gelugpa schools of Buddhism have practised Dorje Shugden and their incarnations returned. Many of the incarnations are recognised by His Holiness the Dalai Lama himself. So this shows if you practise Dorje Shugden, only benefits come and no harm will come. The very fact Dagom Rinpoche’s incarnation is back, is clear evidence that Dorje Shugden’s practice is beneficial.

May Dagom Rinpoche’s current incarnation live a very long life.

Divination (‘mo’) Text by Dorje Shugden

This is an important divination (‘mo’) text composed by Dorje Shugden himself. Dorje Shugden took trance of the Choyang Dulzin oracle lama, the senior oracle of Gaden Shartse Monastery, and instantly on the spot composed this text within two hours.

The divination text contains information on how to use dice to do divination for the future and is known to be highly accurate. When practitioners use this text, they will be in direct contact with Dorje Shugden to get answers to questions about the future. It is for those who have good samaya with Dorje Shugden and are free of the eight worldly dharmas to be of benefit to others in divining the future.

The Library of Tibetan Works and Archives is in Dharamsala, which is broken into two parts. Upper Dharamsala is where the Dalai Lama’s palace is located with his audience room and main prayer hall. It is also the location of the Dialectics School, Gaden Shartse’s guesthouse, restaurants, tourist hotels and main tourist areas.

A short ride down takes you to the lower part of Dharamsala where the Tibetan government is located. It is the location of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Nechung monastery, the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, the Tibetan arts centre…it’s all in one area. And the reason why it’s split into upper and lower Dharamsala is because the area is mountainous.

The Library of Tibetan Works and Archives was established by the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government to preserve all the ancient texts – both secular and spiritual – of Tibet and in the process, translate them into various languages like English. This book, Overview of Buddhist Tantra, by Panchen Sonam Drakpa was one of the books translated into English. What’s very interesting is that the book very clearly says that Panchen Sonam Drakpa’s previous life is Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen, one of the five main disciples of Lama Tsongkhapa. It also says that after that, he was Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen.

So the book is basically saying that Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen, Panchen Sonam Drakpa and Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen – the three Drakpas – are of the same mindstream.

Now that’s very peculiar because if Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen’s previous life is Panchen Sonam Drakpa, the renowned composer of 45 volumes of Dharma texts, the abbot of three monasteries AND the 15th Gaden Tripa, the holder of Lama Tsongkhapa’s throne…if that’s the case, how can Panchen Sonam Drakpa take rebirth as Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen and become an evil spirit and have a negative mind?

Prior to Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen, he was Panchen Sonam Drakpa and before that, he was Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen, a heart disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa. How can a heart disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa reincarnate as the erudite master Panchen Sonam Drakpa, and then die and reincarnate as Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen…and then Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen, due to a bad and negative prayer, become the evil spirit Dorje Shugden? How is that possible? Logically, it’s not.

What’s incredible is that all of this was printed by the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives under the Dalai Lama’s guidance. They contradict themselves because on one hand, the Tibetan leaders say Dorje Shugden is an evil spirit. On the other hand they’re printing a book saying that Panchen Sonam Drakpa, whose later incarnation became Dorje Shugden, is of this illustrious mindstream.

So how can the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, which is under the auspices of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government, print the translation of a book composed by the previous incarnation of a so-called evil spirit? How can they then say in the book that Panchen Sonam Drakpa’s previous life is Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen, and his next life was Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen?

Prior to the Dorje Shugden ban and controversy, everyone in Tibet knew that Dorje Shugden is Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen, that Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen is Panchen Sonam Drakpa, and that Panchen Sonam Drakpa is Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen. The three Drakpas, they are one mindstream emanating again and again to benefit other beings.

And as we all know, Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen became Dorje Shugden so it totally doesn’t make sense to call him an evil spirit, then highlight all of his previous lives as erudite masters, and publish all of this information under their own library. OVERVIEW OF BUDDHIST TANTRA

GENERAL PRESENTATION OF THE CLASSES OF TANTRA,
CAPTIVATING THE MINDS OF THE FORTUNATE ONES

rgyud sde spyi’i rnam par bzhag pa

    BY
    PANCHEN SONAM DRAGPA
    (Pan-chen bSod-nams grags-pa, 1478-1554)

    O Choje Sonam Dragpa Pel! (Chos-rje bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal!)
In the vast expanse of Your bodhi-mind,
The mind that the Buddhas have lauded for as many as
    one hundred times,
You have developed “merit” shining like the sun.
Through Your skill in learning, debate and writing,
As illuminating as one hundred thousand sun rays,
You have developed in You a complete knowledge of
    the entire sutras and tantras,
Resembling a garden of flowers in full bloom.
    The power of Your speech is like the sun;
The fame of your name has reached the three realms of
    this world.
O Sonam Dragpa, the teacher of teachers!
I bow down at your feet.

In the vast garden of Your great teachings,
The intelligent young people gather for
The ‘six ultimates’ and the ‘four modes of transmission,’
Just as they are attracted to
The one hundred thousand types of nectar
Dripping from a flower of one hundred petals.
May I be able to experience
The taste of the secret tantra!

Panchen Choje Sonam Dragpa Pel (Panchen Chos-rje bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal), the holder of sutra and Vajrayana teachings, was a master whose outstanding learning and spiritual accomplishments are well known by all the learned ones in Tibet. His first incarnation came in the form of one of the five prestigious disciples of Lord Tsongkhapa (Tsong-kha-pa) and became known as Vinaya Holder (Dulzin) Dragpa Gyaltsen (Gragspa rgyal-mtshan). Then came Panchen Sonam Dragpa Pel (Panchen bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal), the author of the present text. The next was Nagri Tulku Dragpa Gyaltsen (mNga’-ris sPrul-sku Grags-pa rgyal-mtshan). In this way, a line of his incarnations, each with the Dragpa (gragspa) surname, followed successively.

Panchen Sonam Dragpa Pel (Panchen bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal) was born in the 14th century in Tsetang (rTsed-thang) in the Lhoka (Lho-kha) region of Central Tibet. He entered the great seat of learning, Sera Thekchenling (Se-ra theg-chen-gling) monastic university, where he became the personal disciple of spiritual master Donyo Dangden (Dhon-yod dang-ldan) and His Holiness the Second Dalai Lama Gedun Gyatso (dGe-‘dun rgya-mtsho). Under them, he studied the entire teachings of sutra, tantra and their commentaries, and became known for his outstanding learning. He also received from them the empowerments, reading transmissions, guides and instructions of the entire body of spiritual training. On becoming the fully blessed one, the Dalai Lama appointed him the abbot of the Loseling (Blo-gsalgling) college, one of the four colleges of Drepung (‘Bras-dpung)- the most prestigious monastic university in Tibet before 1959, with over 10,000 monks on its register. He continued to be the abbot of this college for the next six years; and after him the tenure for each of his successors in this position was fixed for a period of six years, a rule that is followed even today.

He was then appointed the head of the Gelugpa (dGe-lugs-pa) order, the throne holder of Gaden (dGa’-ldan), thus becoming the 15th regent of Lord Tsongkhapa (Tsong-khapa), the second Buddha. In his eulogy to him, Khedrub Gelek Pelsang (mKhas-grub dGe-legs dpal- bzang) says:

O Lama, the second successor of the Unsubduable One,
The regent of the Lord of Dharma,
    You are the one who made the virtuous qualities thrive;
You are the one who ascended to the golden throne uplifted
    by the fearless lions.
    May Your success thrive forever!

He continued to be the throne holder for the next seven years, during which time he promoted the spread of Lord Tsongkhapa’s (Tsong-kha-pa) precious teachings, the Gelug (dGe-lugs) tradition, across the land in all directions. He also paid special attention to the practice of monastic rules and the learning and meditation of Buddhism in the monasteries such as Sera (Se-ra), Drepung (‘Bras-spungs), Kyomolung (sKyo-mo-lung), Phagmo Chode (Phag-mo chos-sde), Nyeding (Nye-sdings), Ödna (’Od-sna) and Chöde Rinchen (Chos-sde rin-chen) etc. and improved them to a great extent. He taught the Third Dalai Lama Sonam Gyatso (bSod-nams rGya-mtsho) as the latter’s spiritual master. It was from him that the Dalai Lama received the name Sonam (bSod-nams).

His contributions in the literary field are enormous; and, indeed, they are the most valuable of all his contributions. Tsongkhapa (Tsong-kha-pa) has rightly said:

    Of all one’s deeds,
The ‘deeds of speech’ are the most valuable.

Panchen Sonam Dragpa Pel (Panchen bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal) was a person with an extraordinary talent for teaching, debate and writing. In his colophon to Bu mey chi don zab don sel wey dron mey (dBu ma’i spyi don zab don gsal ba’i sgron me), he wrote:

In the field of teaching, I am [next to none!] Knowing that
I would outdo them in this field, Arya Asanga and his
    brother transmigrated into another realm.

In the field of debate, I am [next to none!] Knowing that
I would find out the areas they had contradicted and
that I would examine them and put forth my arguments,
the logician Dignaga (Digh-naga) and Dharmakirti tactfully
    bypassed me.

In the field of writing, I am [next to none!] [In my eyes,]
Arya-sura was just good at spreading the works, which
are like ‘disputes~ between an insect and a field.’

I am the learned man. Peerless in the field of teaching,
    debate and writing!

For some this passage might sound utterly nonsensical, but the most learned master of our age, the talented teacher, logician and writer, the late tutor to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Yongdzin Trijang Dorjechang (Yongs-‘dzin Khri-byang rDorje-‘Chang), said: “Now, some people of our time, who consider themselves learned scholars, think that this is utter nonsense; but they are wrong.”

Panchen Sonam Dragpa Pel (Panchen bSod-nams grags-pa-dpal) wrote over 45 volumes of books dealing with many different subjects, such as the commentaries on the sutras and tantras, the saddhana manuals of the tutelary deities, history, religious history and so forth. Among these, one that is very important for all who wish to learn and meditate on the path-of the practical aspect of Buddhism in general and that of Vajrayana in particular is the Leg shey gyu de chi nam par shagpa kelsang gi yi trod (Legs bshad rgyud sde spyi’i rnam par bzhag pa skal bzang gi yid ‘phrod). In this book, he has explained precisely how the four tantras differ from one another. He has also fully described the stages of the two spontaneous path practices of the Vajrayana tradition, dealing with the ‘six ultimates’ and the ‘four modes of transmission’, thus interpreting without mistake the intention of Adhi-Buddha Vajradhara.

May the reprint of this text, which the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives is publishing herewith, bring peace and happiness in this world!

It is amazing that we have a store in the most famous night market in Malaysia where alot of tourist that came to Malaysia will visit. The night market located in Kuala Lumpur, the heart city of Malaysia. The name of the night market is Petaling street. Thousands and millions of Malaysian and tourist pass by that area annually.

It is very good to have a Dorje Shugden store at such a prime area because the exposure is excellent. Many will be blessed by the supreme protector even with just a glimpse of his holy face and form. May many be blessed by Dorje Shugden.

It is with the blessings of our Guru, H.E Tsem Rinpoche, that the students were able to secure and have a Dorje Shugden store manifest in busy touristy Petaling Street. Available spaces for rent are few in Petaling Street. Many tourists from all over the world and many local Malaysians will now have the good fortune to meet with Dorje Shugden.

On this meeting with Dorje Shugden, many will know that when in time of dire situations, they will be able to call upon divine help from Dorje Shugden and they will not be disappointed.

With the establishment of this store may many people be blessed with meeting the Protector of our time, Dorje Shugden.

WOW!! This is the greatest offering ever to mg Guru. This shop is amazing and it’s going to benefit many many and many people in Malaysia and every tourist that passer by. What a brilliant ideas bring Dorje Shugden to people. We Dorje Shugden practitioners always knew that how powerful and beneficial Dorje Shugden is.. When you have Dorje Shugden, you no need Fengsui and insurance any more la. your luck will just flow on you. Everything just go smooth. Everything will get better and better. I know.. what else besides give me more money bevause we got bills to pay.. I am not talking about just money or financially but family, spirituality, children, friendship etc etc. We have many people practicing Dorje Shugden just for health and they went through life and death situation, and they see how fast they recovered an moved on with their lives like a new happy person again. Dorje Shugden covers everything thing in our lives! What’s best is … He needs no return from you. Nothing. You just have to be sincere and offer His mantras. What you need to do is just your heartfelt prayers.

This place is not just a shop but a place where you can come to get blessings and protection when u need one. Dorje Shugden will grant your wishes, help you overcome your problems using his wisdom and compassion hence leading you to the direction that’s beneficial to you because He is Boddhisattva Manjushri, Buddha of wisdom himself.

  36. Yee Yin on Oct 28, 2018 at 3:43 pm

Wow, congratulations! Such a neat and nice Dorje Shugden shop for people to come to visit. Tsem Rinpoche and the students really work very hard to spread Dorje Shugden practice to everyone. To set up a shop in Petaling Street is a very good idea as there are many tourists and Chinese around this area.

Dorje Shugden is a very powerful protector of our time. Since he is an emanation of Manjushri, we can definitely rely on him. He will be able to help us when in need.

I have heard the Gyenze (another form of Dorje Shugden) in Kechara Forest Retreat shows miracles. Many people who went there to pray, have had their wishes fulfilled. Whether it is your health, financial or relationship problem, you can always pray to Dorje Shugden to help to improve the situation.

Considering that any real estate within Petaling Street is a commodity and always in demand, securing a place therein is definitely not easy and kudos to all who made this possible. With such prime location with a lot of traffic, definitely many would be exposed to enlightened Dharmapala Dorje Shugden which is such a great blessing indeed. May many from all walks of life, come to connect and be blessed by Dorje Shugden. Thank you Rinpoche, the sponsors and the resourceful team behind this greatly beneficial feat. 🙏

  41. Marcus Wombly on Oct 28, 2018 at 2:22 am

Isn’t this store in Malaysia and isn’t Malaysia a Muslim country? That’s pretty cool a Muslim country has so much religious freedom and tolerance. After reading all that stuff about how Shugden believers are cut away by Dalai Lama and fellow Buddhists, I feel sad and pity them. On the other hand, it’s great that the Dorje Shugden practice gets to flourish elsewhere around the world. My friends here in Australia all swear to how good it is and I have noticed the incredible change in some of them too.

This is a nice blog, by the way. Keep up the good work. Cheers!

  42. Kenneth Chan on Oct 28, 2018 at 2:11 am

CONGRATULATIONS! This is so amazing, the store location looks wonderful. For the students who made this happen, it must have been with the generous blessings of the Dharma Protector for them to secure this great corner lot in a prime location.

This is a wonderful news. Thank you for the team who made it happened. Petaling Street is a great location with a high visibility in Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia. Many people especially tourists frequently visited Petaling Street. With this store they can get connected to Dorje Shugden, get his blessings and protection. The Dorje Shugden is not just a store to get blessed holy statues but it is getting the Buddha message to the masses. People do the practice, gain some reliefs when their obstacles are cleared. With a happier mind then they are open to more, something higher in life than just living.

It is indeed a very strategic place as there are many locals as well as foreigners who tour his place on a daily basis. Looking at the photos of everyone receiving Dorje Shugden blessings is heart warming, as Rinpoche said, an association with this divine being can only bring benefits.

Thank you all the people who worked hard to get this shop, and also all the sponsors who tirelessly produce these collaterals to be distributed free to everyone.

  50. Pastor Elena Khong Jean Ai on Oct 26, 2018 at 4:12 am

It makes me so happy to see this. I am reminded of the fact that we are very lucky to live in Malaysia where we have the freedom to do things like this. I am also reminded of the fact many people are still living under the religious oppression perpetrated by the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) because there is NO WAY anything like this could be opened in India.

Isn’t it ridiculous? When Shugden practitioners are denied service in, for example, guest houses like the Gaden Shartse one (https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/dorje-shugden/they-said-no.html), people say it’s the owner’s prerogative to deny service to whomever they like since it is a private business. Well, shouldn’t that logic therefore also apply to a Dorje Shugden practitioner who wishes to open a store like this? Since it’s a private business, a Shugdenpa should be allowed to open whatever business they want. But nope, you can betcha bottom dollar that the CTA (Tibetan leadership in Dharamsala) will meddle and block its opening.

The application of double standards will be the cause of the continued failure and dissolution of the CTA. Why? Because with double standards, it means that there’ll always be one sector of the community you do not serve adequately, which also means one sector of the community that will always be disgruntled with you. They will see that they are being treated unfairly and one day, someone will have enough and say or do something. Gandhi was that one person for the whole of India.

Good luck CTA. You may not practise Dorje Shugden but the results of karma are not dependent on whether you practise Dorje Shugden or not, or whether you are faithful to the Dalai Lama or not. So enjoy siphoning off as much money while you can. One day, karma WILL catch up with you and no high lama – whether it’s the Dalai Lama, Karmapa, Sakya Trizin, Gyalwang Drukpa, etc. etc. – is going to be able to save you.

Blog Chat Etiquette

These are some simple guidelines to make the blog chat room a positive, enjoyable and enlightening experience for everyone. Please note that as this is a chat room, we chat! Do not flood the chat room, or post without interacting with others.

EXPAND
Be friendly

Remember that these are real people you are chatting with. They may have different opinions to you and come from different cultures. Treat them as you would face to face, and respect their opinions, and they will treat you the same.

Be Patient

Give the room a chance to answer you. Patience is a virtue. And if after awhile, people don't respond, perhaps they don't know the answer or they did not see your question. Do ask again or address someone directly. Do not be offended if people do not or are unable to respond to you.

Be Relevant

This is the blog of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche. Please respect this space. We request that all participants here are respectful of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche and his organisation, Kechara.

Be polite

Avoid the use of language or attitudes which may be offensive to others. If someone is disrespectful to you, ignore them instead of arguing with them.

Please be advised that anyone who contravenes these guidelines may be banned from the chatroom. Banning is at the complete discretion of the administrator of this blog. Should anyone wish to make an appeal or complaint about the behaviour of someone in the chatroom, please copy paste the relevant chat in an email to us at care@kechara.com and state the date and time of the respective conversation.

Please let this be a conducive space for discussions, both light and profound.

This is a very useful teaching on how to deal with our negative emotion especially anger. Anger causes a lot of problem to us. To know if we have anger is to examine if we have patience. When we are impatience, it is a sign of anger. I never thought these two emotions are related but it actually make sense.

When we are impatience, we cannot tolerate other people’s fault. Then we get angry with the things they do or say. Our impatience could be caused by our arrogance of thinking we are better. If we really are better, we should be patience to pass and share the knowledge with others. There might be people who have the attitude problem, but this is not something we can change. What we can change is how we feel and perceive.

Ram is a Nepalese staff working in Tsem Ladrang for many years. He is hardworking, friendly and polite. His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche always sees Ram as part of the big family.

In mid-2016, Ram’s wife in Nepal who was pregnant for 7 months suddenly developed complications, she had to go for operation due to dislocation of the baby in the womb. Ram’s wife and baby were very weak and in dangerous condition, the doctor had no choice but to operate and take out the baby. The doctor …even said EITHER the wife or the baby would survive.

Ram was very worried and informed Tsem Rinpoche immediately, Rinpoche’s divination showed that both the wife and the baby would survive, and immediately instructed pujas to be done and candles to be lit for both the wife and the baby for a few days. Rinpoche also instructed Ram to recite Dorje Shugden’s mantra strongly to pray for protection for his wife and baby.

Founded in 1790, Beijing (Peking) Opera has been the main form of Chinese entertainment for over 200 years. It all started when the Four Great Anhui Troupes went to Beijing to perform for the Imperial Court, with the royal families present. Although in this time and age, this beautiful national art form has to compete with blockbuster films, TV drama series, home-made internet films, MTV music videos etc …many, many people in Beijing and most parts of China still appreciate it.

The Chinese government encourages the younger generation to participate in Beijing Opera, and like Wang Tao Yang (aka “Wonder Kid of Peking Opera”) many of the younger kids seem to have a natural ability for it.

Manjushri, whose name means ‘Gentle Glory’ or ‘Sweet Splendor’ in Sanskrit; ‘Wen Shu Shi Li’ (文殊师利)in Chinese; ‘Monju Bosatsu’ in Japanese; ‘Moosoo Posal’ in Korean; ‘Jampel-yang’ in Tibetan) is one of the most important Bodhisattvas in the Mahayana and Vajrayana traditions.

Manjushri is also known as ‘Manjugosha’ (the Gentle-Voiced One); ‘manju’ refers to how the continuum of his life has been rendered ‘gentle’ by his grasp of transcendental wisdom, and ‘gosha’ refers to his perfect ability to communicate the Dharma verbally and in written form, in which he destroys illusions, delusions and ignorance that keep all sentient beings within samsara.

Tai chi is a mind-body practice that involves a series of slow, flowing exercises that combine movement, meditation, and rhythmic breathing. Although it was initially developed as a martial art, it’s commonly practiced as a form of “moving meditation.” According to the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, tai chi’s movements can help stimulate the flow of vital energy (also known as “chi”) and, in turn, promote healing from a variety of health conditions.

Many practitioners of tai chi use this technique to enhance physical and mental health, as well as to improve posture, balance, flexibility, and strength. In addition, tai chi is said to boost mood, alleviate pain, strengthen the immune system, and improve heart health.

Thank you Pastor Jean Ai for sharing the importance of making offering to Buddha. Many would not put priority on making offering on the altar as preference is always spending the money for ourselves. But we didn’t realise that making offering is directly helping us in our spiritual path and we would be able to generate merits through this process. We should always remind ourselves not to be stingy in making offering but be very generous instead.

A revelational read about the ugly politics of Potala. Contrary to the general belief of the untouchable holy status of the Dalai Lamas; they were frail and disposable, especially during their younger years. Based on records, it seemed that during those centuries, it was obvious that if the Dalai Lamas succumbed to the control of the upper few like the Regent and the serf lords, he would live long and prosper. If he had a mind of his own or had ideas to reform, then he would be eliminated. Imagine, if the holiest of the holy had not to exchange his free will for survivor and acceptance by the upper few, leave alone the life of others and the commoners. Thank you for this article.

Anger can cause many problems to us. It is scary to know sometimes we don’t even feel we are an angry person. We wonder why people are walking away from us, the truth is no one wants to be near us because we are angersome, people cannot get along well with us.

We have to always observe our mind, don’t let our anger eats us up. We are always kind to people we love but we cannot give the same kindness to people who are not related to us or who we don’t like. In order to cultivate kindness, we have to learn to be kind to everyone, regardless if they are kind to us or related to us.

Buddhist teachings arrived in the country known today as Indonesia in the 2nd Century CE. Buddhism is the second oldest religion after Hinduism in this region. For the most part, Hinduism and Buddhism co-existed peacefully in Indonesia. Before their arrival, the people in this region believed in animism, the belief in the supernatural power of Mother Nature. They regarded trees and stones as sacred objects and used these for worship to connect with their higher power.

The Buddhist influence was first introduced by the traders and missionaries from Eastern India who travelled to this region via the ancient maritime Silk Road or Silk Route, a route that spanned from China to the Mediteranian Sea and was central to trading and cultural interaction. Over the centuries, for 2,000 years, the traders and missionaries who travelled along the Silk Road played a strategic role in the dissemination of religious beliefs across Eurasia. The traders often built shrines and temples of their own faith during their travels in order to worship their own gods.

One of the many fascinating and historical festivals in Malaysia is the Nine Emperor Gods Festival. This festival takes place from the first to ninth day of the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar.

Throughout this nine-day festival, adherents observe a strict vegetarian diet, meditate, study scriptures, interact with fellow vegetarians, and make donations to the temples to show their devotion to the gods. During this festival, many hawkers and vendors set up stalls around the town to sell food and prayer supplies. Many devotees also take this opportunity to donate to various rituals and ceremonies in order to maintain luck, to dispel bad luck, and to show appreciation for the good luck they received in the previous year.

Among the many countries around the world, Sri Lanka is known for its rich Buddhist culture and heritage. It is where the the ancient city of Polonnaruwa is located, a place where kings ruled Sri Lanka’s central plains more than 1,000 years ago. It was a thriving commercial and religious city from the 11th to the 13th centuries, and the ancient city has many precious relics and Buddha statues.

The ancient city of Polonnaruwa has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO as it is one of the best planned archaeological relic sites in Sri Lanka, a reputable testimony to the greatness of its first rulers. In 1982, Duran Duran filmed their ‘Save a Prayer’ music video amongst the beautiful scenery there.

Brief Garden is a hidden paradise in Kalawila Village, located approximately 10 km (6.2 mi) from the resort town of Bentota in Sri Lanka. The garden and the house on the estate was the residence of the famous architect and landscape designer, Bevis William Frederick Bawa (Bevis Bawa) (1909 – 1992). Bevis Bawa was also a military officer by profession, and he served as the personal secretary (Aide-de-camp) to four Governors of Ceylon (the present day Sri Lanka) during the British colonial era.

Brief Garden is a delight for those who love nature. When visitors walk into the garden, they will be able to enjoy the jungle feel of the garden and its unique sculptures. The house on the estate is cosy and comfortable. Bevis Bawa built the premise with care and the intention to make it his retirement home.

Malaysian weddings are diverse, unique and colourful affairs, as is to be expected in a country that is a melting pot of cultures and faiths. Generally speaking, wedding customs in Malaysia are determined based on the couple’s race, religion or both. As a large percentage of Malaysians are Malays, and given that Malaysia’s constitution provides that all Malays are to be Muslims, Malay weddings are typically steeped in Malay traditions and solemnised according to the tenets of Islam.

How we feel should not be affected by what others say about us. Everyone has a different expectation and perception of things. Their comments on us are purely based on their perception, it may be true and it may not be true.

Our motivation might be misunderstood, but it should not matter. At the end of the day, we create our own karma. If we react to negative comments with negative emotion and behaviours, we are the one who lose out. We should always remember what the 8 verses of mind transformation say, give the victory to others.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

  • What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
    2 yearss ago
What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
