Dear friends,
Recently, I had a group of people over at Haven to work on an exciting project. There were many people who came and Datin Jennifer was one of them who offered to help out.
Datin Jennifer is the mother of Jamie. She is a very kind and generous lady. Not only is she a sponsor of many Kechara departments and activities, she also strongly supports her daughter’s Dharma work AND maintains her own spiritual practice at home. I like Datin Jennifer very much…
Datin Jennifer is a lady of many talents… One of them being cooking! She loves to cook and feed people also *animals. Whenever she steps into the kitchen, she is all equipped to cook up a storm for at least 20 people… hehe. While she was at Haven the other day, she decided to bake a cake for everyone who were working very hard.
Datin Jennifer has promised to come to where I live (ladrang) a certain amount of times per month every month. It is her contribution/commitment and her dharma work among other practices she is doing. Everyone can contribute to Dharma in their own special way…We have over 15 persons in the ladrang dept and they are always hungry…she is like a mama bird bringing food to the nest and all 15 chicks have their mouths wide open..hehehehe..I welcome Datin Jennifer very much.
While she was at it, a group of my younger students decided to help her out… did they really help her out or mess things out? Watch the video below to find out!

This is so funny! It was so fun helping with the baking. The product was very delicious! Hehe! Datin Jennifer’s reaction was very funny, she looked bored and amused at the same time. She was probably wondering why was everyone so interested!
Datin jennifer is so nice and caring. every time i see her she has a huge smile on her face :D. her helpers are nice too, but be careful Jutika can be tricky… hehe. They are all very nice people and i am so sure we all like them.
I LOVE IT whenever Datin Jennifer comes over. She’s such a lovely lady who’s always chatty, bubbly and in a cheery mood. She comes prepared to cook with her additional cutleries, and whenever she walks into Rinpoche’s Ladrang she has 5 big bags of ingredients. You’d think that she was cooking up a feast!
She jokes that she doesn’t know how to cook in small portions, but really, it looks like she’s cooking for an army. When there are 20 people in the Ladrang, she’d cook for 50.
When people say that they don’t know how to contribute to the Dharma, Datin Jennifer shows that there’s always a way. She does what she can do, and pushes herself to do more.
She can cook very well, and offers her culinary skills to feed the younger ones who (unfortunately) have very pathetic culinary skills! lol
It’s always a treat to have Datin Jennifer around 🙂
Hahaha, this is really funny and cute!
Datin Jeniffer is not just a good cook, but a great accountant too! She is very inspiring to me as she has no ego at all with her being the professional accountant, instead, she is always very humble, generous, loving and she is kind to all around her as well as to dogs. Her dogs are just like her sons! Her Guru devotion to Rinpoche is also very strong. She just followed the instructions given by Rinpoche do it diligently be it to do her mantra or to spend a few days a week to be at Rinpoche’s Ladrang. She will just do it with a smiling face and do it with her 100% effort!
May she always healthy and close to Rinpoche!
All the laughter and happy faces while mixing the ingredients will sure turn out to be a yummy cake. Good vibes. Datin Jennifer is a very kind lady and one can feel this energy when around here. I admire Datin’s bubbly and kind personality.

Datin Jennifer is a warm and caring auntie for all the younger Kecharians. It’s not surprising why all the little “monsters” are naturally drawn towards her.
She always baked a few cakes and gave them to the annual Kechara Wesak Fair for fund raising purpose.
She has always been supportive of all the different departments of Kechara and we all love her !
OH I definitely love Datin Jennifer’s food!! I love her lemon cake! Super yummy 😀 Other than food, she is an extremely nice and elegant lady who speaks well and is very devoted to Rinpoche.
Agreed with Bryan, the 3 kind ladies he mentioned are super mama. They contribute to Dharma with their talents in cooking. They not only always offer food to Rinpoche, they would also cook for us to eat. This shows that they are not selfish at all and they really take care of this big family in Dharma like their own family.
She really is one of the loveliest people I’ve met. Her warmth and kindness is deep and so real, you feel it instantly.
She only met me a few times, but after the first time she greeted me as if she’s known me forever.

Just like all the 84 mahasiddha, they all have their unique way to gain enlightenment, but most important is Guru Devotion, believe and trust the Guru. Datin Jennifer is very down to earth and gentle lady, who LOVES to cook nice food for people and she is a pet lover..all the mumu in her house are mostly “out of shape”….lol
Datin Jeniffer always so kind with people and animal. she can’t stand watching people or animal hungry. all her dog are feed well and healthy. We are so lucky having she around cooking for rinpoche and ladrang staff.
haha, this is so cute and so funny, working in Dharma, when we work with a group of “interesting” people, it can be very fun too. everyone has different personality, but everyone can still work together, isn’t this beautiful??

How fun to able to bake our way to enlightenment! To be honest, the batter do look kind of unappetizing. LOL! Too bad Jamie did not take a picture of the end result. Bet the cake was delicious.. Hey, how about baking some cakes and sending some over to the other departments, Datin Jennifer? hehe!
They sure do having fun baking the cake. But i m worry of extra unwanted ingredient in the cake lol.

That day Datin Jennifer told me that she loves to cook very much! ( im sure all of us know this well) I can see Datin Jennifer, the small kids and ‘big kids’ are enjoying themselves there.
What Rinpoche said is right, everyone can contribute to Dharma in their own special way. No matter how old or how young you are,you can always help and bring happiness to others!
Datin Jennifer is a very sweet friend of mine. It was through Datin Jennifer whom I met her daughter, Jamie aka Paris. Jamie introduced me to Rinpoche. That was more than 5 years ago. Time flies.
Datin Jennifer cooks very well. She used to fill up her dining table with food during our gatherings. She’d feed us non stop. Even her dogs are all fat! hehe

Hahaha so the “suppose to be a chocolate cake” turned out well and tasted good also. It should be when it is prepared with so much love, sweat and laughter.
大家动手一起准备食物、用餐总能比在外用餐拉近彼此的距离，那种感觉很温馨。这也难怪，炎热的马来西亚，还能多人还是喜欢吃火锅—常常吃了很多下肚，不消一会儿肚子就咕咕作响了。能享用Datin Jennifer的巧克力蛋糕的朋友真是太有口福了，没有机会享用的，看着视频想象一下巧克力的香浓应该也挺不错的！哈哈！

Datin Jennifer was patiently waiting for her assistance to mix the cake. The chocolate cake would have tasted with extra ingredients.
My mummy! This is true about how she loves feeding people and being constantly worried about people not having enough food. We have a joke in our home that she cooks enough for armies each time she steps into the kitchen. She’s found the right place to feed people now @ the Haven. If you’re all wondering why I can never lose weight, part of this is because my mother keeps making delicious food that I can never say no to (hey, it would hurt her feelings if I didn’t eat it all right?!)
And yes, she is just as worried about feeding dogs as she is with humans – perhaps more so. She’s the biggest sucker for a sad story about a dog or a cat, or anything furry with four legs and a tail. And thank god she did – Gonkar has a tremendous amount of medical problems and if he didn’t make it into a good, caring home, he would have surely died. He’s now in good health, rather fat and very noisy.
Mum is now also coming into Haven to volunteer and cook for us at the Haven twice a week. She’s helping out with Ladrang accounts too because she rocks the accounting world (you would never guess I’m her a daughter, being so completely inept with figures).
She’s also learning how to use the computer, to read blogs and comments – which is amazing because she’s terrified of even turning on a computer.

Datin Jennifer baking a chocolate cake, oh no! It’s will be so delicious…I ate the cookies that cooked by Datin Jennifer. It is so delicious. Until today, I still can remember the smell haha…I like Datin Jennifer because she like everyone mother, even though I not so close with her, but I can her motherly”smell”. I am happy Datin Jennifer be more and more involve dharma activities. I think the precious gift Paris gave to her mum is DHARMA.I AM REJOICE!!!
I love Datin Jennifer… and her famous line is “Don’t call me Datin or Aunty, just call me Jennifer”. She is such a wonderful and sweet lady, but most important she cook VERY NICE FOOD !!! We have few great “cooks” that always come into Haven and cook for us.
Being a “British Lady” Jennifer always cooked us western food, such as pasta, cakes and etc. She is my Princess Diana. Another wonderful lady Mrs. Chuah, who is Ms. Chuah Su Ming’s mum also always come in and cook for us. Mrs. Chuah is in charge of Asian food… I believe a lot of us have tried Mrs. Chuah’s Tom Yam and chinese soup…
Recently Fiona Ng, another volunteer that regularly help up in Kechara Care also started to cook food for us, and her famous dish is Black Vinegar Eggs…
Three of this ladies are house wife, and they still find their way to contribute to the dharma, they can’t do much physical works like moving things around, but they still spent their time to do something to care for others. I love three of them very much (not only because of their food), and i hope three of them always healthy and blessed with Buddha.

I like what you wrote Bryan; eventhough these ladies are unable to do much physical work, yet they did not make excuses but find other ways to contribute to dharma work. Just like in a monastery, monks who can teach will teach. Those who can raise funds will travel overseas to do that. Those who can do administration work will be the changtso. Then there are other monks who clean and cook.
In Kechara, we have it all too. All due to the kindness of Rinpoche who created so many departments and is still constantly coming up with ideas so that anyone and everyone can contribute to the dharma.
I agree with you that Datin Jennifer’s cakes, Mrs Chuah’s soup and Fiona’s hard boiled eggs in black vinegar and ginger is super yummy! Oh dear, suddenly I am hungry again…..
So finally it wasn’t the case of too many cooks…..The cake did turn out to be delicious, with Datin Jennifer’s magical hands!Anyway, all the young helpers looked so keen and seemed to be having fun too!
Yes, Datin is a lovely, warm bubbly person whose compassion towards animals is rare. I remember her adopting George, the stray dog, who’d been hanging outside Kechara Care for quite a while, before that.When George fell very ill, she had a Menlha done for him. Recently, unfortunately, George passed away.But , because of Datin Jennifer’s kindness and love, he was in pain and suffering for only a while before he died.Datin Jennifer, I love you for the unconditional love you showed George and all your pets and adopted stray dogs under your care.
Even though I don’t have the chance to taste the cake but it is “delicious” as well to see all the smiling faces… very “Sweet” cake 🙂

She is a good example for all of us,she always spend her time on meaningful activity like Rinpoche have mentioned before,I think can help in Dharma is great,I also wish I will have the opportunity to work for Dharma in future.
I’m sure that chocolate cake must have tasted better with extra ingredients from those clowns’ saliva and perspiration dripping from their hands into the bowl! LOL!
And at one point, Datin Jennifer with her chin resting on one hand must have thought “Oh, what the heck!” LOL!
Haha….See how Datin Jennifer looks upon the “human cake mixer” mixing the cake! Was wondering the cake would turn out well. It is always FUN to have Datin Jennifer to bake and cook. In fact, her food is delicious! Can’t wait to have a chomp on Datin’s next food party.

Datin Jennifer is a great cook. Her food is yummy. Just a few days ago, she brought over a big pot of “Tau Yew Bak” (Black Soya Sauce Pork)- vegetarian of course. She is such a happy and bubbly lady who enjoys making others happy. We are very lucky to have her cook for Rinpoche and us…… Thank you Datin Jennifer!!!
