Blog Chat Etiquette

These are some simple guidelines to make the blog chat room a positive, enjoyable and enlightening experience for everyone. Please note that as this is a chat room, we chat! Do not flood the chat room, or post without interacting with others.

EXPAND
Be friendly

Remember that these are real people you are chatting with. They may have different opinions to you and come from different cultures. Treat them as you would face to face, and respect their opinions, and they will treat you the same.

Be Patient

Give the room a chance to answer you. Patience is a virtue. And if after awhile, people don't respond, perhaps they don't know the answer or they did not see your question. Do ask again or address someone directly. Do not be offended if people do not or are unable to respond to you.

Be polite

Avoid the use of language or attitudes which may be offensive to others. If someone is disrespectful to you, ignore them instead of arguing with them.

Please be advised that anyone who contravenes these guidelines may be banned from the chatroom. Banning is at the complete discretion of the administrator of this blog. Should anyone wish to make an appeal or complaint about the behaviour of someone in the chatroom, please copy paste the relevant chat in an email to us at [email protected] and state the date and time of the respective conversation.

At the age of 23, Tsongkhapa went to the region of U to meet up with some people from his hometown, Amdo. His friends entreated him to return to Amdo and they also gave him a letter from his mother. She also requested him to return to Amdo and had slipped one of her white hairs in the letter too. Touched by this, Tsongkhapa considered returning to Amdo for a while. However, when he contemplated deeper. he realized that if he left for Amdo, he would be disrupting his practices of mental discipline. As there was no benefit, he sadly decided not to return to his homeland. Instead he sent a thangka of a painting of himself to his mother in Amdo. When his mother opened it, the picture spoke to her and it was as if Tsongkhapa was there with her, which brought her great joy. In a letter accompanying the thangka, Tsongkhapa requested his mother and sister to build a stupa around the sandalwood tree which had sprung up at his birth. His mother and sister complied and from that stupa, the holy monastery of Kumbum developed.

David McCollester: Throughout history, the greatest remembered men of moral and spiritual conviction have all been ostracized, oppressed contrarians. Christ, Buddha, Lennon, Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln…etc. And all of their bodies met their end with a bullet from someone who misunderstood peace and tolerance. However, the world witnesses that the idea of the man lives stronger with each passing generation. This is the way of Love and the vibration of the awakened. The seeking and sewing of Love is not all rainbows and unicorns. It is a trial by fire. A test of resolve and commitment.

People cling to their miserable mental boxes and identity constructs, and lash out when they are threatened in any way. The ego is an insolent child like that. It is to be expected. Love always brings to the surface that which is unlike itself. It’s like a salve that draws out the nasties.

So, you’re in tough territory. Welcome aboard. Everyone who has different ideas, different bodies, different colors, different languages, even different species, are treated terribly by the sleeping masses. This isn’t just a religious problem. Life on Earth for the contrarian will hit you where the sun doesn’t shine and try to drag you down into darkness with it. It is how you take it that distinguishes you from the rest. Your own non-reactivity or reactivity becomes your testament and others are healed and enlightened just by witnessing it in action; amidst the vitriolic remarks, spit, physical violence, threats and vanquishment.

To me, you will always be a great man; a transcendent being.
I honestly don’t think you can change that, and the world, being what it is, is certainly not going to allow you to relax into it. So, be strong light warrior. It doesn’t matter if you wear the cloth of Buddha-ism or not, you will always attract criticism. It’s just vibrationally who you are and it’s all perfectly karmic. Continue to be the burning torch in a dark room Rinpoche.

What Am I Writing Now

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

This is powerful. We are in a great place and that is Kechara. Some in the past and present and maybe future may think otherwise. And that is ok. Everyone has their karma to contend with. But if we put our efforts in Kechara and it's our genuine efforts, it can be no different than other places and even better. Where we put our efforts is where we will get the results. I guess this illustration says it all. "The grass isn't greener on the other side. It's greener where YOU water it.". Where we 'water' it is the effort we put in. Since we are here, we should do our best instead of doing little or mediocre thinking there is a better place and this is just a transition place. Because maybe this is the best place but some of us don't see it because we are blinded by our projections. Just my thoughts. Tsem Rinpoche

Dzambala suggests an antidote, generosity: Practicing Dzambala helps us to overcome miserliness and to develop a more generous mind. And it is through this generosity (not the greed we are accustomed to) that we can attain real wealth. Tonight's weekly Dzambala puja (Chinese) was led by Poney Sim and assisted by Danny Seah.at Kechara House gompa. Lucy Yap

"Dorje Shugden and The Tradition of Oracles" https://youtu.be/ltOUkhzusII Oracles are intermediaries between the deities and humans, and are the channel through which the deity speaks, gives advice, heals, teaches (in the case of Dorje Shugden) and has communion with lamas and practitioners. Dorje Shugden oracles play an important role in Tibetan Buddhism from recognizing incarnations of highly important lamas to giving advice in critical situations, for instance when helping the present Dalai Lama escape from Tibet in 1959 against very difficult odds. "The Relationship Between Dorje Shugden and Setrap" https://youtu.be/4WXiOWJe1f4 Dorje Shugden’s close relationship with the Dharma Protector Setrap Chen is historically significant. Not only did Dorje Shugden’s line of previous incarnations, including Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen, propitiate Dharmapala Setrap, it was also one of Dorje Shugden’s past incarnations, Lotsawa Loden Sherab, who brought the practice of Setrap from India into the Tibetan pantheon of deities. The close association between these two enlightened Dharma Protectors can also be seen in the story of how Dorje Shugden arose, as well as within the depiction of Dorje Shugden’s mandala. "The Mandala of Dorje Shugden" https://youtu.be/hMTiQ4Zuwy0 The thirty-two deities of Guhyasamaja’s mandala are represented in the mandala of Dorje Shugden, and each of these beings is an emanation of Dorje Shugden himself. This introduction to the various deities of Dorje Shugden’s mandala illustrates the many ways in which he can assist us, through the Five Families of Dorje Shugden as well as through his entourage – the Nine Mothers, the Eight Guiding Monks and the Ten Youthful and Wrathful Deities. From: June Tang (Khjb)

"The Iconography of Dorje Shugden" https://youtu.be/BvXpmbNYcvc The iconography of an enlightened being is a roadmap to enlightenment, communicating not only the function of the deity but also serves to invoke a certain awareness in the minds of practitioners. Therefore, every detail of a deity’s form, from their stance and posture to the implements they carry, their mounts, and their mudras are in fact teachings in themselves. Dorje Shugden’s iconography is no different and illustrates well the deity’s enlightened nature and how he helps practitioners overcome their outer, inner and secret obstacles. From: June Tang (Khjb)

"The Lineage of Dorje Shugden in Kechara" https://youtu.be/Ys3XYO93IyU Kechara’s Dorje Shugden lineage is pure and unadulterated, and can be traced directly through an unbroken line of lineage masters all the way to Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen. Thus, the practice of Dorje Shugden within Kechara is ripe with the blessings of the lineage masters including Mahasiddha Tagphu Pemavajra, H.H. Pabongka Rinpoche, H.H. Trijang Rinpoche and H.H. Zong Rinpoche. From: June Tang (Khjb)
