Since Rinpoche began speaking about the Dorje Shugden practice in public, there have been detractors and critics who have directed insults, vulgarities and violent remarks towards Rinpoche.

Encouragingly however, there have also been many positive comments and messages of support for Rinpoche. We, as Rinpoche’s students, have collected them here, to give encouragement and inspiration to everyone who continues to receive verbal and physical abuse for their practice and beliefs. We rejoice in people’s ability to look at the facts and evidence, and decide for themselves if Dorje Shugden is good or not.

Some may ask why His Holiness did not reveal his practice during his tenure as the Gaden Tripa. In fact, His Holiness had all along not been happy with the Dorje Shugden ban but did not speak against it. Realising the preciousness of his position, he refused to act in a manner that would stain the reputation of the office he held. Thus he waited until he became an ‘ordinary’ monk again, before making his practice known so that any attacks would be personal to him, and not to the position. Actions like these make it clear to us that His Holiness is without ego, valuing Dharma above politics, and it is clear this attitude has influenced his most loyal and closest students.

Therefore, you have died and you have turned into a being here that is unhappy and causing suffering to others. I would like to release you from this and have you enter the entourage of Dorje Shugden to become one of the ministers and assistants because you are quite powerful, and you are quite learned, and you could be of assistance to the Buddhadharma and the growth of the Buddhadharma. Would you like to do that?”

    For Ming HY –

    Dear Ming,

Thank you so much for your kind message!

It is very true that people are using the Dorje Shugden practise as a platform to get back at Rinpoche because they do not have anything substantial that proof their hate speech towards Rinpoche and Kechara.

A dharma centre is open for people from all walks of life, people come, people go; some stay and improve, some improved and leave, some stay and do not change, of course some leave without change also. Obviously, it is solely the choice that individuals had made. The question is why make a choice and then put the blame onto people in the dharma centre?

In our case, people who have left did have good merits and karma to be in Rinpoche’s mandala doing something meaningful and beneficial in their lives, and whatever time, efforts they have put in within that period of time did not gone into waste, many are benefited because of them. Isn’t it better to think about all the good things one has done than to give in to the negative thoughts that one has?

Negative thoughts can arise from anger, jealousy, bitterness etc. due to one refusing to see one’s flaws. When they refuse to see within, they started to blame externally, and conveniently to those who had kindly pointed that out to them. The extreme cases are those that you’ve mentioned.

We will continue to protect Rinpoche and His precious works and take all necessary actions to do so. On the other hand, we appreciate people, especially those who had been benefited by Rinpoche, to please come forward to show your support by leaving comment here http://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/dorje-shugden/they-want-to-kill-me.html, share your kind thoughts about Rinpoche and Kechara, so that more and more people are aware of how selfless, kind and compassionate Rinpoche is.

Again, I thank you for your kind comment and please share more with us if you can.

    With much appreciation,
    Pastor Adeline

Before I pass away, I wish to get as many teachings, practices, meditations and rites on Dorje Shugden out as much as possible to the world. Dorje Shugden has many beneficial practices that are varied but with one goal (removing obstacles and enlightenment) to suit the various karmic inclinations of sentient beings. Bringing Dorje Shugden to many in order to relieve some of their suffering has been a passion of mine for decades. It’s just in the past we are ‘not allowed’ to speak about it. But you know what? As you get older, you fear less, worry less and give much less credence to ‘authorities’ and scorn from others who don’t like what you are doing. My motivation for this is good and I will do it. My heart tells me to do this and I will share my knowledge about Dorje Shugden to many who are karmically ready for Him. I do this with all humility, care and sincerity to benefit others. When I see others in problems it really moves me to do something. I am ordinary and I can’t do much. But Dorje Shugden is Manjushri in the form of a helpful guardian angel and protector and not ordinary. If we put our heart, practice and sincerity into Him, He will help us. If I can bring Dorje Shugden to many, then this is my legacy. The many other incredible teachings by Buddha and Tsongkapa many other great lamas are bringing to the world. They are doing a great job and I pay homage to them, but I will bring Dorje Shugden. I don’t do this for any political reasons, financial gains or prestige but simply it will benefit others and that is what I live for. I’ve always committed myself to Dorje Shugden for only spiritual reasons the day my Teacher assigned Him to me 30 years back. It is for spiritual reasons I keep Him close to me and introduce to you all. May you be benefitted always. ~Tsem Rinpoche.

    (Wednesday, Apr 22. 2015 03:52 PM)
I am saddened to hear about such threats against our beloved guru who has only shown love and care to all, including those that attack him. Rinpoche has to go through so much to bring the Dharma and benefit to so many. Having read many of the comments, I am astounded that these ex students some of whom served Rinpoche very closely for years, and received much teachings and kindness, and could just turn around and literally backstab our beloved Guru. Did they not learn anything during their stint? Their recent actions seem to completely devoid any sincerity in their Dharma practice when they were with Kechara. To turn around and threaten Rinpoche based on DS practice is not acceptable. It seems that some have much anger and resentment, and are using this platform to “get back” with whatever they are dissatisfied with in life.
However, it is not logical that anyone practicing any form of Buddhism would behave in such a way if they truly understood the basic law of Karma. I pray that they they may find peace within themselves, but also pray that the ban to Dorje Shudgen is lifted soon as this cannot be an excuse for others to use it to attack others in such a disturbingly aggressive and violent manner.

    @Meng
Thank you for your concern but as was mentioned, the names are on public platforms and the admins have no intentions to incite hate upon these people but to raise awareness of what kind of statements we have been receiving. I think people should be aware as you are talking of death threats or at the very least, the threat of violence. As practitioners of compassion, we cannot just sit idly by because that would mean that we condone or even encourage such actions. By posting it up, the very least would be that these people be wary of what they post and how they express themselves. I am sure you will understand that.
  • Pastor Jay Jae
    (Sunday, Apr 19. 2015 06:10 PM)
For Meng – These posts were published on bigger social network platforms such as Facebook for all to see and is made public. The reason why these are posted on Rinpoche’s blog is so that these perpetrators are made known so that they do not create further damage. It is true that we need to be compassionate but being compassionate does not mean to stand still and wait for potential harm to come onto us. These posts also serve both as a proof of the alleged threat that the party is making.
  • Jason Wu
    (Sunday, Apr 19. 2015 06:04 PM)
For Meng – Your expectations are funny.

When someone threatens Rinpoche, it’s not okay. But it’s also not okay for Rinpoche and his students to defend themselves by exposing the individuals involved. What’s wrong with exposing those people? Facebook is a public platform and clearly people write things there so everyone can know about them. Therefore if these people stand by their views (since they believe their twisted views are not wrong), then they shouldn’t have a problem with their names being revealed.

So your point is that just because people are Buddhist, they have to accept the violence and vulgarities directed at them and not react. Wow.

Why don’t you sign up for a Facebook account and ask those people not to post such horrible things, instead of writing on Rinpoche’s blog and asking the victim to stay quiet? Why are you asking the victim to stay quiet, and not telling the perpetrators to practice Buddhism since they CLAIM to be Buddhist and following the Dalai Lama’s teachings? Go ahead and sign up for the account, go and write on their wall and see where that gets you? :)

This person in the picture with me is a very humble, kind and knowledgable senior monk. I have the great merits to be considered his friend. He has been very kind to me on many occasions. I have the deepest respects for him and he has been serving others for nearly 40 years as the personal authorized oracle of Dorje Shugden, Kache Marpo, Setrap, Shidak Gyenze. He was trained up as a monk oracle by His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche and Kyabje Domo Geshe Rinpoche. He is fully qualified and benefits many with his oracular abilities. You can see him here in full trance in the monastery with hundreds of monks and people: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Xbghs-mdNc I thank Dorje Shugden for appearing in oracles to speak to us and I thank this oracle monk for his services. For Meng –

    Dear Meng,

I understand where you are coming from and would like to share my thoughts for your kind considerations.

I believe we are on the same page that hate speech is not acceptable, especially when it is being thrown onto a Buddhist monk. These speech were said on the social media platform with the intention for all to see openly. I believe people who said these are ready to take responsibility of their actions, therefore they do not mind say it with their name published openly. These people claimed themselves to be Buddhists too, are their actions acceptable in the first place?

If you put yourself into our shoes, receiving these speech, how will you react to protect your Guru and organisation which works are solely to preserve and spread the precious dharma to benefit beings ultimately – to be liberated from samsara and achieve ultimate enlightenment. From your earlier comment, it is clear that you understand the consequences of these speech and it violates the very basis of the Refuge Vows and it is also clearly listed as one of the 10 non-virtues actions.

Let’s say we keep quiet and not do anything about it, chances are they will continue to say more and create more negative speech karmas for themselves. How compassionate is it for us to know their consequences but remain quiet? It is illogical. It has been proven in the past that when we do nothing, we get more of the these negative speech directed at Rinpoche, our organisation and our members on social media. Not reacting encourages more of these hate speech to spread and continue.

It is in fact a compassionate act to make their actions known so that they are made aware of their actions and will think twice before they do it again. Without showing their names, it is very possible that they are unaware who we are referring to. I believe you feel empathy because if you are one of them, you would appreciate to be given another chance before your faults are being exposed. Isn’t this all that we fear, our wrong actions being exposed openly, our ego being challenged? So, as a compassionate being, would you continue to protect one’s ego, which is the cause of all our negative deeds, or to show them directly, after many advices, their wrong actions? As a Buddhist, we understand that one needs to be responsible for their actions. If one is afraid of the result, why act in certain way at the first place?

Therefore, it is necessary to show their comments with their names so that we do not give an impression that we are making up those claims and for the convenience of those who do not go onto social media, can see what has been said here clearly. In addition, we also don’t want to start a trend of simply accusing anyone without proof. It would be a bad example for people to follow especially those who have intention to cause harm.

Thus, it is important, again with compassion intention, to not encourage hate speech and incite hate, we need to make a choice, one that will benefit both parties in the long run, especially when it is related to Dorje Shugden and the sensitivity that comes with it. We need to protect Rinpoche, His safety is our main concern, because without Him, there will be no dharma. In case if you are unaware, there is a hit list that display the full details of the Dorje Shugden practitioners including their address and contact details. This is a serious matter.

As I’ve mentioned earlier, these are my thoughts for your kind considerations. I hope very much that you will take them into considerations and understand where I am coming from. Compassion do comes with wisdom, without which compassion is merely an act that further damage one’s practice on the path to enlightenment.

    With metta,

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

I've always not felt comfortable reading on computer screen for over a decade now. When I do, I feel I am slower. I thought it's just me, studies show it's most people. I am always faster and more efficient and catch more things when items are printed out for me. I enjoy books much more than reading online. I dread reading on the phone. I am super slow.Nice little trivia that affirms my habit.

Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche & Kyabje Ling Rinpoche doing Lama Chöpa in Bodhgaya in the 60s
In the 1960s, H.H. Yongzin Kyabje Ling Rinpoche would always organize Lama Chöpa (Guru puja-composed by Panchen Rinpoche) with 1000 offerings in Bodhgaya and would often be joined in by H.H. Yongzin Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, and sometimes the 16th Karmapa would even join in. Wonderful. Watch this blessed and old footage of the two Yongzins doing Lama Chöpa in Bodhgaya. Yongzin is the special title to those who were the root and close teachers of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. There were two official Yongzins. Trijang Rinpoche and Ling Rinpoche were the Yongzins of the current Dalai Lama for over 40 years living nearby to Dalai Lama and passing him all the teachings necessary. They were extremely kind and giving all necessary teachings, empowerments and oral transmissions that Dalai Lama is disseminating to the world today to millions. The Girl Who Couldn't Cry - Water is Life
It's really hard to educate a generation of people born in conditions where they take things for granted. A simple slogan campaign that says, "Save water, It's precious" isn't sticky enough to make inroads. That's exactly where this video steps in: to make people realize how precious water actually is. A brilliant video that follows the heartbreaking story of a young girl that cannot cry. Sounds like fiction? Sadly, it is not.
