Blog Chat Etiquette

These are some simple guidelines to make the blog chat room a positive, enjoyable and enlightening experience for everyone. Please note that as this is a chat room, we chat! Do not flood the chat room, or post without interacting with others.

EXPAND
Be friendly

Remember that these are real people you are chatting with. They may have different opinions to you and come from different cultures. Treat them as you would face to face, and respect their opinions, and they will treat you the same.

Be Patient

Give the room a chance to answer you. Patience is a virtue. And if after awhile, people don't respond, perhaps they don't know the answer or they did not see your question. Do ask again or address someone directly. Do not be offended if people do not or are unable to respond to you.

Be Relevant

This is the blog of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche. Please respect this space. We request that all participants here are respectful of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche and his organisation, Kechara.

Be polite

Avoid the use of language or attitudes which may be offensive to others. If someone is disrespectful to you, ignore them instead of arguing with them.

Please be advised that anyone who contravenes these guidelines may be banned from the chatroom. Banning is at the complete discretion of the administrator of this blog. Should anyone wish to make an appeal or complaint about the behaviour of someone in the chatroom, please copy paste the relevant chat in an email to us at care@kechara.com and state the date and time of the respective conversation.

Please let this be a conducive space for discussions, both light and profound.

Wow Shikoku islands are amazingly beautiful! Not only the island offers scenic landscape but also a great pilgrimage destination where there are 88 temples around the island and an artistic town too. If given the opportunity I would love to join the pilgrimage trip, a trip to have a break from the rush in work and living in the city. I would like to visit Iya Village and Oboke and Koboke Gorge. I’m sure the hike at this place would be lovely. So nice to be near the nature and breathing clean air.

Amazed with Jacob’s intelligence and great knowledge at a young age, he is definitely a genius. But the question is where does he obtain the intelligence from? He couldn’t have learned it at that young age. From Buddhism angle, I believe this is from his past life imprints. He must have this great skill and intelligence and that his mind bring along to this life.

Ekai Kawaguchi was a Japanese Buddhist monk, famed for his incredible journeys to Nepal and Tibet, being the first Japanese traveling to either country. Ekai Kawaguchi who’s dedication and determination in learning Buddhism was indeed a inspiration to all.He took four years to reach Tibet was not easy afterall. Travelling to remote areas in Nepal and Tibet at that time was tough .As a foreigner who could not speak the languages was another hurdle moreover to translate it to Japanese was challenging for him. He has devoted his time in Tibet to Buddhist pilgrimage and study.Incredible he even translated difficult classical Chinese texts to Japanese. He brought back to Japan a large collection of Tibetan scriptures to be translated too.He was a pioneer of Tibetan studies in Japan, and well respected by the people of Tibat,Nepal and Japan. A statue honouring the traveling monk Ekai Kawaguchi was built at Shichidou-station, Osaka in Japan.Memorial Museum was also named after him in Marpha, Nepal to commemorate him.
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor Antoinette Kass and Pastor Niral Patel

A Guru teaches, guilding along and show us as we learn ,pracitce to be a better person and will help us to cross the ocean of samsara. When we practice spiritually with the guidance of a Guru, we will certainly progress, allows us to actualize successfully all the steps of the path to enlightenment. We are to walk the path no matter what happens and always devoted to our Guru. Without a Guru and proper guidance will lead us to no where and no Dharma.
Well said by Li Kheng….Spiritual awakening is not about changing but expanding yourself.
Thank you Li Kheng for sharing this article.

Beautiful story of Kukkuripa choosing a dog over a havevenly feast. Kukkuripa shared everything from food, water to bedding with his dog in the caves for years while he meditates. So much so he was known as Kukkuripa the dog lover. The dog to him is more a friend. Kukkuripa had given up all attachments to be with dog as he could bear the sufferings of the dog being alone and without foods.
Later only he realised the dog was actually Vajra Yogini and was attained full enlightenment and blessed by Vajra Yogini.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this beautiful and inspiriing teachings for us .To let go all attachments and always be compassion, caring,be kind and loving to all sentient beings.

Wow …interesting ,unique a Tibetan lama also known as Iron arrow of Golok looks more native American Indian than a Lama.Chagthag Rinpoche was well respected living in Sikkim.Through his miraculous powers gained from meditation,he could even fly.He used to wear heavy iron chains on his body and neck to pull him down from flying. He would fly from mountaintop to mountaintop to meditate Thats amazing.
We are fortunate able to view this Very rare and powerful picture of Chagdar Rinpoche with the traditonal outfit of a wisdom mirror at his chest and wears a leopard skin skirt, carring weapons.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing these interesting post with a short explanation of the outfit for us to understand better.

Deepavali is a flavourful festival where rich colours are used to decorate the premises and lights will be lit everywhere. It is rarely known to the multi-racial community of beautiful Malaysia that the festival actually marks the victory over Demon King Ravana and rescuing the abducted Goddess Sita from Demon King Ravana. Today, the celebration of Deepavali signifies victory of good over evil, truth over ignorance, and light over darkness. Therefore, may we all be joyous to look forward to the beautiful celebration of Deepavali and be reminded to battle our inner demon, ignorance and darkness. Thank you for this sharing.

Leshan Giant Buddha is the world’s largest stone-carved Buddha. It is a 71m stone Buddha carved out of cliff which is situated in southern Sichuan province of China and not far from Mt. Emei.Leshan Giant Buddha is a statue of Maitreya in sitting posture facing Mt Emei. From what i saw from the post the Giant Buddha statue looks stunning. It was listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996.Leshan Giant Buddha is the tallest Buddha sculpture in the world craved during the 8th century AD.
Its such a beautiful place to combine travelling and holidays with spirituality to collect merit, plant Dharma seeds and be blessed, as advice by Rinpoche.

Their practices come from the Kagyu and Nyingma schools within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.spiritual practitioners at Gebchak Gonpa. It is the largest nunneries in Tibet and heart of a renowned meditation tradition unique and outstanding to women. Its nuns are famed for their accomplishments in profound meditation, while their compassion and dedication to the Dharma is remarkable.Reading of each unique nun’s stories their interviews and their backgrounds and so forth were interesting and inspiring. They hold on their Guru Devotion firmly from the moment they entered the nunery till the end of their lives.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing these interesting article .

Mt. Emei seem to be towering, beautiful, old and mysterious. It is like a huge green screen standing in the southwest of the Chengdu Plain.Mt. Emei was enlisted in the world natural and cultural heritage by the UNESCO. Mt Emei is the highest of the sacred mountains which is at 3,099m having a long rich history, people in remote ancient times have lived in this place as early as 5,000 years ago.Amazing discoveries by the archaeologist. The first monastery was built 1,900 years ago, thats where the birthplace of Buddhism in Yangtze Valley begin.
The Buddhist architecture, music, grottos and paintings in the mountain all reflect rich religious flavor and culture. Its famous for the beauty of the mountains and there are many ancient temples which attracted thousands of tourist yearly.
Thank you rinpoche for sharing these post which i do hope i can visit one day.

Chinese folklore features a rich variety of ghosts, monsters, and other supernatural creatures. According to traditional beliefs a ghost is the spirit form of a person .There are many folk beliefs and taboos surrounding during the 7th month of the Chinese calendar.Thats where the hell gate open recording to their beliefs.Traditional Chinese culture attached great importance to Ancestral Ghosts and the need to have descendants who would continue to honour them.
Each faith have their own views of it.Ghosts have played a very important role in Chinese beliefs for many thousands of years, and for many Chinese they still do.
I always believe when we do not disturb them, they do no harm to us and we are protected by each individual beliefs. As long as we are mindful of customs and beliefs.
what we can do to help those wandering spirits is by each doing own customs of compassionate way.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing these comprehensive explanation, insight post which helps us to understand better.

It take some time for me to read this article but it really worth to read. This article really give very details on Kyushu especially on tourist places and the way to get to tourist places and accommodations as well. I like Kamado Jigoku hot spring because it look like demon being cook by the hot spring. This very good educational source to people to become good person. Besides that, temples are always in my travel itinerary, so I would to visit Fukiji and Makiodo temple where a huge Amitabha statue was located inside.
I will recommend this article my friend because it really informative and sure will help in Kyushu travel itinerary.
Thanks Reinpoche and others to gather so much information on Kyushu to open our eye on Kyushu.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

This picture is of KB lovingly holding Mumu while he tries to stand up. I was in the room with them and someone else took this picture. It is a very sad and poignant picture because just a short while after this picture was taken, Mumu passed away with all of us present. This was the last picture of my little Mumu alive. We immediately did puja for Mumu and he is sorely missed by many as he touched our lives deeply. Tsem Rinpoche

Practising makes you better at something. If you keep practising in laziness, that is what you will become good in. If you keep practising generosity, that is what you will develop. Keep practising in what you want to become good at.

Lady Buddha Diamond Dakini Vajra Yogini, you appear in so many forms, guises and methods out of great compasion to bring me to your paradise of Kechara heaven. When the ban first came into place, the monks protested against the ban in Gaden Monastery. Samdong Rinpoche was there and saw the protests which later he and Tibetan leadership took fierce and quick actions to cut all protests and expel all monks who protested. There is no democracy. Dorje Shugden has been practiced by individual and khamtsen group monks in Sera, Drepung and Gaden for four hundred years and suddenly it is not allowed. No religious freedom. What the Tibetan leadership wants, they will impose their will. If you disobey, protest or not agree, you will be banished or silenced.

Every person who has Maha-annutartantra empowerments (Eg. Heruka, Guhyasamaja, Yamantaka, Vajra Yogimi, Chittamani-Tara, Kalacakra, Hevajra, Gyalwa Gyatso Chenresig, etc) should keep a copy of this on their shrine or prayer book. These are all the ritual items tantric practitioner must keep by commitment. If it is in picture form, it is alright also.

This is a simple chart showing the three main psychic channels used in tantric meditations to control the winds, raise tummo (fire energy), gain higher consciousness and insight and also for gaining siddhis. These channels are used in meditations for controlling the mind, when the mind ejects from the body (phowa) and one\'s death. These three channels are very important. Tsem Rinpoche
