Healing the defects of our eyes
We can heal the defects of our eyes with this special form of Avalokitesvara the mighty Bodhisattva who manifests in countless manners to benefit sentient beings.
The Eye Clearing Avalokiteshvara (Mig-Jed Chenresik) originates with the Revealed Treasure of the Nyingma Tradition and the teacher Nyangral Nyima Ozer in the 12th century. Since the original text of Nyangral many authors from numerous traditions such as Kagyu, Sakya and Gelug have written follow up ritual and meditation texts, including figures such as Karma Chagme and Dagchen Kunga Lodro. This practice is simple yet extremely effective so it has become very popular.
Although originally a practice found in Southern Tibet the Eye Clearing Avalokiteshvara has grown immensely in popularity in Mongolia and many other countries. One of the largest images in the Ganden Monastery, Ulan Bator, is this Eye Clearing form of the deity. It is possible that the 8th Jetsun Dampa is principally responsible for the 20th century popularity. The huge statue of this special deity in Ulan Bator is visited by hundreds of pilgrims daily.
Three of the images below are of full size paintings. Five of the images are Mongolian miniature paintings. There are two images of sculpture. The first is a very large metal repousse piece constructed at Ganden Monastery. The second sculpture is made of wood and belongs to the Chojin Lama Temple.
The focus of the special activity of the deity is to remove the ignorance of all beings and on the most mundane of levels to help relieve eye ailments. Many of our eye ailments can be healed and our precious eyes protected. We can obtain the special clairvoyant eye of seeing through this practice.

This is a very beneficial to heal the eyes from illnesses. It is also very simple and easy to practice. Avalokiteshvara’s practice is simple yet powerful and extremely effective. The Eye Clearing Avalokiteshvara (Mig-Jed Chenresik) is another form of Avalokiteshvara who is uniquely to relieve eyes illnesses and protect our precious eyes. This practise helps to heal the eyes together with treatments and medication from doctors.
We can do this practise even if our eyes are healthy. We need eye of wisdom to gain deeper understanding of the Buddha’s teachings, and penetrate the true existence which is the Emptiness. Ultimately, this practise lead us to enlightenment.
We should practice this to have our eyes protected and healed beacause our eyes are precious
