Here is a short yet extremely profound meditation on Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen, the previous life of the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. As many of you will already know, Dorje Shugden and his many previous lifetimes are all emanations of Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom. Therefore when we meditate on any of his previous lives, we are tapping into the enlightened energies of Manjushri. What is special about this meditation is that Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen is visualised in the form of a lama or guru. Guru Yoga or meditation upon the figure of one’s own teacher or a high teacher of the past, is actually one of the most fundamental practices within Tibetan Buddhism. It is said that without Guru Devotion and invocation of the blessings of the lineage lamas one cannot be successful in gaining higher spiritual attainments. Below is a meditation focusing on Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen that be engaged in as a daily practice and bestows great blessings and uplifting spiritual energies for your own inner transformation.

Meditation and prayers to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen will bless one’s mind to gain the five types of wisdom, increased memory, clearer understanding of subtle dharma points and penetration into the knowledge of what makes one suffer so it can be removed. It can remove obstacles that are in every day life. Daily meditation and prayer to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen will protect one from land gods, nagas, spirits, negative formless beings that follow one from places we visited, negative energy as in haunted places as well as beings that disturb us during sleep. This prayer and mantra will help us recover from misfortune or difficult situations that seem hopeless. If we engage in astral travelling or any practices that are more esoteric in nature, Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen when invoked will protect us during our journeys. We will be able to reach higher states of consciousness as we meditate on this practice. In general, the great wisdom, compassion and protection of this highly realized saint will afford us many benefits in this life and in our spiritual practice.

We do not need permission, initiation or special instructions to practice these prayers and mantra. We can start immediately. If we have a prior daily meditation, this can be incorporated within our existing practices.

One should do this daily without miss and with great faith. You will experience great benefits. I wish you all luck and humbly rejoice in your spiritual advancements.

Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen
and Manjushri are inseparable

A short daily meditation on Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen

From top to bottom: Buddha Shakyamuni, Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen and Dorje Shugden. Click on image to enlarge

  1. Visualise Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen on your crown, the size of your thumb, embodying the nature of Manjushri. He sits on a lotus amidst rainbow lights. Think Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen is one with your root teacher. Reflect on the kindness of your teacher and how he or she has taken care of you time and time again. If you don’t have a teacher, then think Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen is the embodiment of universal wisdom, compassion and protection.
  2. You and all beings (especially those who have been kind to you) take refuge in Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen. All beings of the Six Realms (hell, ghost, animal, human, demi-god and god realms) of samsara take refuge with you and make a blessed connection with Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen.
  3. Recite Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s prayer composed by either His Holiness the Panchen Lama or Dorje Shugden. Either one is very good and can be found below. Recite the prayer fervently and from your heart with feeling. From the very depths of your being.
  4. As you recite the prayer invoke upon Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s wisdom, skillful methods and compassion to protect you, guide you and enlighten you. Also, to purify your karma and open your mind to higher consciousness. You are asking Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen to always look after you. Believe this is what is happening. Believe this great awakened being Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen fills you with healing, love, forgiveness, compassion and capacity for great wisdom.
  5. After the prayer, recite the special and powerful mantra using your mala (Buddhist rosary) as much as you like. Or at least one round (which is 108 mantras). Or you can use any prayer beads. The count is not as important as the meditation invoking the blessings of this supreme being who can bless your life tremendously.
  6. After reciting the mantra, visualise Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen on your head dissolve into brilliant golden light like the sun. He is very pleased with you and will bless you and grant you higher insight. He will protect you from the three lower realms and bless you to gain wisdom. This light then dissolves into your crown, descends to your heart and becomes one with you. Our subtle consciousness is said to abide at the heart area. You and Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen become one and you are blessed. Relax and feel happy that you have been blessed and protected. You have been blessed by Manjushri Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen who is one with your own teacher. Love yourself. Love others. Be forgiving. Let go of anger and misconceptions. Let go of fear and past pains. Let go of judgement. Abide in bliss, happiness, love, wisdom and the wish to be of benefit to all beings who exist. Develop a strong wish to be of benefit to all beings and to become a beacon of light giving hope and love to others.

Prayers

To engage in the prayers recite either the Reincarnation Lineage Prayer of the Incarnate Master Dragpa Gyaltsan or the Reincarnation Lineage Prayer of Tulku Dragpa Gyaltsan. Then recite the special mantra and complete your prayers with a completion dedication.

Reincarnation Lineage Prayer of the Incarnate Master Dragpa Gyaltsan

This prayer also, to the incarnate master Dragpa Gyaltsan through his reincarnations, has been spoken for the benefit of all migratory beings by the Dorje Shugden who protects the holy Dharma, at the sacred abode Choling in response to requests from many devout monks and nuns and householders. Dorje Shugden took trance of his special oracle lama and spoke. Gedun Choejor was the scribe. May this serve as cause for all migratory beings swiftly attaining in one lifespan the state of Vajradhara.

May there be auspiciousness!

Lord Manjushri, the sole father of all kindhearted Victors,
Lord Tsongkhapa, whose renown fills this world,
Lord Yamantaka who has arisen to subdue the intractable:
Bless us supplicants with common and uncommon attainments!

Lord Sambhota, the best of scholars,
Loden Sherab, the savant in all classics,
Lords Naropa and Khyungpo Naljor:
Bless us supplicants with common and uncommon attainments!

Ralo Dorjedrag and master Khutoen,
Masters Sakya Shri and Choeku Woezer,
And to the Omniscient Lord Buton:
Bless us supplicants with common and uncommon attainments!

The all-pervading Tsarchen, and Sonam Dragpa;
Sonam Yeshe, prominent among saviors of beings;
Sonam Geleg, in whom merit and virtues shone like the sun:
Bless us supplicants with common and uncommon attainments!

Dragpa Gyaltsan, the master leading nyig-dhue1 beings to liberation,
Whose very name, just hearing, frees from the lower migrations,
Who leads to liberation any who supplicates single-mindedly:
To this protector of teachings and beings of three worlds we pray.

Ngawang Jinpa the emanation in saffron robes, and
Ngawang Tenzin, upholder of the victory banner of the teaching,
And Jetsun Losang Geleg, the great master:
Bless us supplicants with common and uncommon attainments!

Losang Tenzin, the victory banner of Dharma who comes
As kings, ministers and monks for beings and dharma’s sake,
In successions endless as ripple in water:
To such past and future emanations we pray.

By the truth power of the Three Jewels,
By the enlightened actions of oceanic dharmapalas
Such as the Four-faced Lord and the Dorje Shugden,
May all beings live well and in happiness.

As you embody all Three Roots2,
For us all migratory beings here, in the future, and in bardho3,
In all happy and bad times we have none but you:
Hold us, without separation, with parental love.

When in future you enact the enlightened deeds,
As attaining Enlightenment as Buddha Rabsal among others,
May we and all other beings connected with us,
Be the first to taste the nectar of your vast and profound words.

May we, and all sentient beings, in all lifetimes,
Come into contact with the Second Buddha’s teachings,
May we all take on the going forth, and take
All sentient beings across the ocean of samsara.

Alternatively, you can recite the following prayer.

Reincarnation Lineage Prayer of Tulku Dragpa Gyaltsan

This praise to the reincarnation lineage of the supreme incarnation Dragpa Gyaltsan has been composed by the erudite meditation monk Losang Choekyi Gyaltsan (His Holiness the Omniscient and highly realized scholar the 4th Panchen Lama) at the prayer hall of  the great and vast Tashi Lhunpo Monastery on account of fervent requests from Legpa Gyaltsan and many other attendants of the master.
May there be auspiciousness!

The one whose renown permeates the world;
The great being holding aloft the banner,
Of the Second Buddha, happiness and wellbeing’s source:
At that great master’s feet we pray.

At the feet of the World Teacher with the ten powers,
You invoked the power of truth with pure superior intent,
Causing flowers to fall like rains.
We pray at the feet of that great master.

The Guide of all migratory beings both man and god;
The treasury of all knowledge and attainments in dharma;
The great hero who strove for the supreme liberation:
We pray at the feet of Choekyi Jhangchub.

The one whose greatness, on account of pure prayer,
Was like that of a second Buddha;
And was supreme Guide to fortunate ones of India and Tibet:
We pray at the feet of that great being.

In the sky of the great bliss of Dharmakaya,
The radiant orb of the three bodies of the Buddha is full circle,
Radiating a million rays of enlightened activities: We pray at the feet
Of that opener of a million lotuses of benefit and wellbeing.

We pray at the feet of Master Buton, the unrivalled
Amongst all those who are scholars and realized ones,
In upholding and spreading the Buddha’s teaching,
By example in teaching and practice.

With an intellect superbly trained from the past,
Your mind joyously bloomed in all profound paths.
With single-minded effort you attained supreme realization.
We pray at the feet of that supreme and realized master.

From the vast lotus gardens of phuntsog* merit,
Myriad lotuses, with hundreds of petals, of learning and practice, bloom.
The fragrant scents of good name and deed dispel the ancient sicknesses
Of migrant beings: At the feet of that master we pray.

By the wish-granting jewel of merit and wisdom,
You became a crown jewel of both man and gods,
Its hundred rays of good deed dispelling the dark ignorance
Of all migrant beings: At your feet we pray.

The vast celestial mansion of virtuous accumulation of merits,
Overflows with jewels of the good path of the three trainings.
We pray at the feet, of its dweller─a guide of all beings─
Attired in the magnificence of enlightened deeds.

In holding aloft the victory banner
Of the sutra and tantra teachings of the Second Buddha:
In this you are unrivalled in all three worlds.
We pray at the feet of this noble tutor.

The source of renown and wellbeing and happiness,
Is the Buddha’s teachings. May the chief of all who uphold this banner
Live for long for the sake of innumerable beings to be tamed!
May his phuntsog* enlightened deeds spread to the ten directions!

By the merit of praising in this manner, may we never be
Separated from the protection of noble spiritual mentors!
Progressing swiftly in the supreme vehicle’s path,
May we swiftly attain the state of the three kayas!
Footnotes From Panchen Losang Chogyan, Collected Works, Vol Ca (5), folio 34a-35a (p. 83-85), Tashi Lhunpo woodblock print, Tibet. *phuntsog: a compound word in Tibetan (of phun sum tsog) meaning the ideal combination of the three i.e. a good cause, its result and enjoyment of that result.

Beautiful billboard just came up in our hometown of Bentong where Kechara Forest Retreat (KFR) in Malaysia is located. All of us in Bentong are warm, simple and very friendly people. Our beautiful billboard depicts Dorje Shugden statue in KFR and Dorje Shugden is a hero (pahlawan) and a powerful being from Tibet. He is highly respected for giving great inspirations and blessings from his life story.~Tsem Rinpoche- See more beautiful pictures- https://bit.ly/2UltNE4

I am not surprised to know that trees are good to the human’s body. I remember my grandparents used to live in a village where there was a lot of green, not so much concrete and traffic, they were healthy and seldom sick. I like to live there too because the air was very fresh.

In the cities where there are fewer trees, people tend to get sick easily due to pollutant caused by vehicles, industrial waste, etc. It is proven that trees are a good provider of oxygen and they can absorb and filter pollutants. Many metropolitan cities in Europe have started to plant more trees and they have a plan to grow more trees in the city for the wellbeings of the residents.

Malaysia has visitors from all over the world as our country here is beautiful, peaceful and diverse. I am fortunate to be in Malaysia with wonderful friends here too. So many people from all over the world visit our Kechara stalls, outlets and Kechara Forest Retreat in Malaysia. They really are happy to invite Dorje Shugden home with them along with his prayers, photo, poster, mantra and information booklet. Many of them return and or contact to tell us their wishes has been fulfilled when they sincerely pray to World Peace Buddha protector Dorje Shugden. It makes me so happy to benefit others.

Arya Nagarjuna was a famous Mahasiddha, Buddhist philosopher, and alchemist who was born 400 years after Buddha Shakyamuni’s parinirvana.

He is known for establishing the Middle Path (Madhyamaka) Buddhist tradition, making gold to fulfil the needs of the Sangha, and retrieving the Prajnaparamita Sutra from the Naga realm.

Today, the practical applications of Einstein’s theories include the development of the television, remote control devices, automatic door openers, lasers, and DVD-players. Recognized as TIME magazine’s “Person of the Century” in 1999, Einstein’s intellect, coupled his strong passion for social justice and dedication to pacifism, left the world with infinite knowledge and pioneering moral leadership. So was his passion for Buddhism and its teachings. Today we present you Einstein’s world famous quotes on Buddhism that will be of a great value to understand how much the Buddhism was close to Einstein’s heart.

An Introduction To The Buddha Form And Iconography

In this book, Tsem Rinpoche introduces us to a rich range of Buddha forms, providing basic information to kindle our interest in the iconography of statues –their postures, gestures and mudras, the ornaments and the implements they hold. Each one of these is a symbolic teaching in itself. Indeed the entire iconography, colour and pose of each Buddha statue combined presents a path to ultimate enlightenment.

Everyone wants to be happy in life. Everyone wants to achieve happiness. For an athlete, for instance, his idea of ultimate happiness is to win a gold medal in the Olympics.

For the glory of a gold medal and a few minutes on the podium with your national flag going up while they play your national anthem, you deprive yourself of the pleasure of nightlife, relationships, fun, going out with friends or even your partner. You will subject yourself to a special and stringent diet, train eight hours a day, sleep early and not stay up. You will stay away from friends and curtail many activities because you have to train and work hard. You have to push and discipline yourself.

You really have to transform yourself and change your schedule in order to get your body ready in the next four to eight years in the hope that when the day of the Olympics arrives you will be selected to participate.

Thank you Rinpoche for this inspiring and motivating article. People can say many things about us but we will know very well how we are and how we are. We should not react to the comments people make on us.

However, I do agree that we have to contemplate on what people say about us. If what they say about us is true, especially our bad qualities, we have to change. If it is not true, we just have to move on and ignore the comments.

In “Compassion Conquers All”, Tsem Rinpoche shows how through the practice of “The Eight Verses of Mind Transformation”, this wish for others to be happy can engender a state of mind of supreme love, compassion and altruism. This is the mind of Bodhicitta that wishes every sentient being to be free from every suffering and to enjoy real lasting happiness, and is determined to realise this wish by achieving the state of mind of real ultimate happiness and peace (that is free from every suffering) first, and then helping all beings attain it. This state of mind of ultimate peace and real lasting happiness is called Enlightenment or Full Awakening, where one achieves the qualities of omniscience, love and ability so as to have the power and ability to help others reach this same state.

John Eaton Calthorpe Blofeld (John Blofeld) (1913 – 1987) was a renowned writer of Chinese culture, Taoism, Zen Buddhism, and Mahayana Buddhist tradition. His literary endeavours had helped in introducing Buddhism to the Western world and inspired many to follow his path on the journey of spiritual discoveries.

During his lifetime, John Blofeld had travelled widely around China and other countries, visited sacred mountains and monasteries, and met with hermits, sages and great Buddhist masters of various traditions. As his popularity grew, he used his fame to inspire younger writers to follow his path and helped to launch their career by writing forewords or providing constructive feedback to their maiden literary effort. Those who had the privilege to be acquainted with this extraordinary man, remembered his generosity, warmth, and sincerity. Even today, his writing and unique experiences continue to inspire others to the path of spirituality and give insight to the world of China when the refined Chinese civilisation was omnipresent

Following our habituated way of thinking, the source of whatever happiness we seek from marriage appears to be the picture of an ideal partner. In fact, even as we embark on a long-term relationship with our partners, we already have expectations and projections on our partner. We expect to be happy when our partner conforms to our own set of norms, way of thinking, and expectations. In order to correct this mistaken view, we need to look deeply into ourselves and see that happiness does not come from holding mistaken projections and expectations. In fact, when these expectations and projections are unfulfilled, they are likely to cause us disappointment, pain, and anguish instead.

Tsarchen Losal Gyatso (1502 – 1566 CE) was a famous master and the founder of the Tsarpa lineage of the Sakya tradition centred at Dar Drangmoche Monastery in the central Tsang province of Tibet.

The great Tsarchen Losal Gyatso is the 21st lineage holder of the Vajrayogini tantric tradition stemming from the Mahasiddha Naropa himself. In fact, by engaging in Vajrayogini as his main practice, Tsarchen Losal Gyatso gained high realisations and went on to have several important visionary experiences associated with her. Due to his high realisations, Tsarchen also beheld pure visions of Padmasambhava, Vajrayogini, Chakrasamvara, Kalachakra, Yamantaka, other tantric deities and masters.

This is a very interesting article to know that Mongolian astrology is closely related to Buddhism. Some of us might think astrology is a very superstitious practice but it is practised in Buddhism.

From the scripture, our body body parts are related to different planets. In a way, it means our body and the universe are in fact one. Therefore, we should respect our environment because if our mother nature has lost its balance, our health will be affected as well.

The most recent celebrity that was reported to have shown some interest in Buddhism is Katy Perry. People often think being a celebrity is wonderful, but behind all the smiles and the beauty, there is much suffering and pain… We have seen it many times, and celebrities who fail to cope with the stress and public pressure often take up dangerous habits or suicidal. I’m not claiming that I know of Katy Perry’s life and difficulties, but as long as we are all in samsara, we are all subjected to suffering.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
