We in Kechara really have a good time and at the same time we are very spiritual. Why not have fun on the spiritual path. Nothing wrong. I feel Dharma must suit current trends, current modes but keep the essence of dharma pure.

Thanks to all the dancers, margaret and everyone involved. It looks great and it is for a great cause!!

The videos and pictures were so funny. Everyone were so sporting to make it a success. A great example that if we let go of our ego, we can break our limitation. I am sure they put in a lot of time for practise to produce the best effect. Well done everyone.

  2. Andrea Lai on Jan 22, 2017 at 2:17 pm

I can’t stop laughing watching those videos. It’s so much fun and hilarious.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing these videos and pictures. It’s hard to believed that Dharma is so much fun!!And I like this idea of MEN participate into this performance. It’s not showing of their embarrassment, it’s about letting go their ego and ignorance.Thumbs up for this.

  3. Edward Ooi on Sep 20, 2013 at 11:44 pm

Dear Rinpoche, the picture are very funny. Mr. Ngeow and Tat Ming’s face are the creepiest and funniest of all. I think the Black Swan’s makeup is too much and my favourite is the White Swan because their dancing moves are funny. I think Eric Choong really enjoyed being one of the Wonder Girls. Hahaha!

  4. Vinnie Tan on Jul 29, 2013 at 1:10 am

It is just amazing how sporty all of them are. They are so multi-talented. So many of them are good with what they are doing, doing Dharma work, and now dressing up and dance. I believe that it was a challenge for them when they first started, but from the videos, I think they are really good. They are willing to dress up as females to dance. Most professional male dancers will never dress up as girls to dance, even if they choreographed a very feminine dance they will never do that.

It is just amazing how these Kechara man put down their ego and dressed like that to raise funds for charity.

  5. Julien Roth on Jun 30, 2013 at 9:23 pm

HAhahahahah,i remember seeing them live! They were actually really good and VERY funny, i was actually convinced that they were real women. Hahaha, this post brought make some good and funny memories 🙂 thank you for Sharing Rinpoche.

  6. Carmen Koo on Sep 18, 2011 at 2:34 pm

Oh my god! I remember this when I was a new member of Kechara, and loving the spontaniety in each of these guys although I didn’t know many of them. Looking back now, after getting to know them, this clip has a larger impact on me.

I remember thinking to myself then whoa, why do they have to do this?

Now I know that it is a training in itself, to let down one’s ego and attachment to beauty for the benefit of others. What a brilliant method to practise; that is incorporated with a modern twist.

In Kechara, Dharma is fun, entertaining, uncertain, spontaneous and harmonious. It really is one big family and we can only thank H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche for giving us this precious opportunity in this life to come close to the Dharma.

  7. Wan Wai Meng on Sep 14, 2011 at 6:03 pm

Not very sure how I pulled through but I suppose it was an exercise of letting go of who we are or stick on to a particular identity. As throughout many lifetimes we have changed many roles, sexes and personalities why do we hold on to our identity so strongly?

Plus I suppose it helps me to see how much women have to do make themselves beautiful for their husbands, boyfriend etc. I suppose i appreciate women much better for all that they do on a daily basis.

  9. Margaretlee on Aug 17, 2010 at 12:30 am

I honestly enjoyed and loved every single moment of the rehearsal with all of them. I still remember those sms’s Wai Meng sent me regarding how to act and dance on stage before the actual show. He asked me for advice and I felt that he really wanted to get himself prepared to make the show a success. He sure has come a long way and I am so so happy for him.

Same with Tat Ming, He was very resistent to the idea of being a swan when Rinpoche asked him to. But he overcomed it and guess what, I see a happier, more opened Tat Ming now. This is not just my observation, I heard many many good comments from our many kechara members of how Tat ming has changed. I am so happy for him. These are the satisfaction money can’t buy!

To the lovely gals in “Wanna Be Girls” and “Swan Legs”, I love you all and thank you for working so hard and patiently during all the late night rehearsals. I really don’t mind to be your “Mamasan” at all:-)

Like Rinpoche said, “Why not have fun on the spiritual path. Nothing wrong. I feel Dharma must suit current trends, current modes but keep the essence of dharma pure.” If you comtemplate well, the “Swan Legs” and the “Wanna be Girls” performances in itself is already a Dharma teaching and lesson there.

  10. Wan Wai Meng on Aug 12, 2010 at 4:32 am

This is something I will remember forever I suppose a black ugly swan lol. Took me two weeks to overcome my mental resistance to doing the show. but I am glad I gave it my all. It has many lessons the one that made me willing to go along with it was when I finally told myself ‘let others win’ and have a good laugh . 🙂

  11. Voon Chin on Aug 2, 2010 at 11:36 am

Agree with you Michelle. It is practicing exchanging self with others in a fun way.
Women got egos too although they don’t manifest it so obviously like men.
I believe women switching roles can also be beneficial. Switching roles, help us realize we all have a bit of man & woman in us and become less gender bias.

  12. Voon Chin on Aug 2, 2010 at 11:21 am

    Hi,JParis,Andrew,
Samsara can be nirvana if we know how to create the right causes to make things happen.
Bryan is beautiful because he was a very patient Mr/Miss Whoever in past lives and had been offering lots of flowers to Buddha.
Actually, karmic principles are the fairest laws in this universe.
We stop getting impatient and angry at others, show forbearance and kindness and make daily flower and water offerings, we can become beautiful too : ))

  13. Michelle on Jul 25, 2010 at 9:01 pm

    What a fantastic idea!!
This help to cut down the men’s ego and learn to respect women better. Women have been exploited by all the men ruled socities since decades ago be it west or east. Gender equality can only be reached when men stop exploiting and abusing the women.
Bravo to Mr Ngeow, Nicholas, Thierry, TatMeng, Eric, and all the ‘gals’. You look so cute and sexy. I like Margaret’s brilliant idea. Good to let the men to learn to be women.

  14. Eric on Jul 21, 2010 at 12:40 pm

    Oh my dearest darling Jojo,
Your group clearly has talent but one diamond shines brighter than all!
Its time to do a Beyonce and leave the wannabe girls!
With me as your agent, we’ll build your career in Hadjai, Batam or even Batu Pahat!!
    xoxo Eric

Andrew: it’s okay, we’ll focus on INNER BEAUTY, hmph! The world will love us for the beacon of light we will become and the glorious sunshine that will radiate out from our hearts hehehehehehehehehehehehehehe

WoW, What a show our own Wanna-Be-Girls and Swans both white and black put on during our Fund Raising dinner on 18 July.
Besides fund raising, our wonderful Kecharians really made it a FUN raising event.
It is so nice that so many people were shown that Dharma is creative and fun.
Kudos to Margaret and our stars.

  17. Shirley Tan on Jul 19, 2010 at 6:45 pm

I still cannot get over how graceful and “in the mode” Tat Ming was, playing the swan. I dare say he stopped playing at some point and became the swan. He was truly superb! I would have thought that he took lessons when he was young!
Wai Meng was, er….hating every minute? HAHAHA. I think he had to just let go and enjoy himself in the end! Hahaha. What a great sport! Even Fat Monk looked like he totally enjoyed himself.
I think the testament of their success came, after the whole show. Everyone lined up to take pictures with them. EVERYONE!!! They were all mobbed! The Wanna-Be Girls and Swans were like celebrity stars, swamped by their adoring fans – young and old, men and women!
This is truly Dharma, Kechara Style! With a hip, cool and forward thinking Guru, anything is possible and IS possible!

  18. Joe Ang on Jul 19, 2010 at 6:09 pm

    Dear Rinpoche,
It is a privilege and real honor to be able to dance and entertain our guests at the dinner last night. Many thanks to Margaret (our mamasan), who choreographed and put everything together for us. After learning and performing this dance, I must say that being a lady sure ain’t easy. You’ve gotta put on the make up, the hair, the stockings, the heels (those are the real killers) painful! But it was worth it! It is for us at Kechara to reach out to more people and to help the helpless. Where else will I get a chance to perform the WonderGirl’s dance?
I’m very very happy to be part of this performance as it is an experience that money can’t buy. The other Girls (Eric, Bryan, Peter, Chia) and the Swans (Thierry, Nicholas, Albert, Allan, Wai Meng, Tat Ming, Mr.Ngeow, FM), they are super! Though we practiced till late most of the nights, I am sure that all of us are very happy to be able to do Dharma and at the same time, get to know each other better. It’s been a wonderful experience and I really hope and pray that our dance have, and will create more awareness to the people out there about Kechara. May Kechara House and KSK grow bigger and better in order to benefit more and more people.
    With much love and respect,
    Joe Ang

Talking about transformation..boy, these guys TRANSFORMED over night! Got into the role and was super confident too. My god, Tat Ming looked like a real ballerina. Tat ming even commented to me how elegant the dance moves were. We love you Tat Ming!
Mr Ngeow, I don’t think I’ll ever forget how you looked like on stage. Attending your dharma talks from now on will certainly give me a different view of you…a true sport! Bryan, you looked hot hot hot. You don’t look like a wannabe but a real hot chick! 🙂
All of you really were amazing! and i love Rinpoche’s comments on the photos..hehehe….

  22. Sharon Saw on Jul 19, 2010 at 4:48 pm

Oh what a night! Everything was spectacular… the performers were topnotch… much better than some drag shows i’ve seen! It was great to see them perform at the finale again – a wonderful end to a wonderful evening..
The kechara bazaar in the foyer was thronging with people… the ladrang posters were fabulous… the progamme proceeded very well… even though we started a bit late, we didn’t finish too late. The mood was upbeat and funds were raised joyfully.
Aside from the star performers, there were many people who helped put things together behind the scenes – all the volunteers who were ushering and spotting the bidders, manning the receptions, who packed the gift bags, who assembled the little TV kiosks (believe you me, those take a loooooong time) etc. (and they had to be disassembled at the end of the night!)
This whole event was really an example of interdependency – everyone had to play a part, some more outwardly, some behind the scenes, and the best thing is that no one was looking for glory but just to participate to raise funds and awareness for Kechara House and KSK. Fantastic job everyone! Congrats to all who contributed!
And yes – Bryan is beautiful hahahaha 🙂
Thank you Rinpoche for letting us all contribute to and enjoy this mandala called Kechara.

  23. keng tan on Jul 19, 2010 at 4:43 pm

Andrew/Paris – life is a bit unfair. Sigh! Perhaps one of many good things from dharma practice is that we can meditate on impermanence.

  24. Nicholas Yu on Jul 19, 2010 at 3:56 pm

I totally agree with you. We have been practicing together and I really can see them with no hesitation to really put down their ego and just do. It is really a great experience not just becoming a “girl” but letting go yourself…doing something different (which for some of us we call it funny & weird) but we know that it will benefit so much people….it’s a practice! and it’s a good one! I can never ever thought that I’ll be in such a dress, put on such make up AND got to dance in such away in front of so many people.
Thanks to Rinpoche to make me realize that the attachment to whom we are actually is meaningless if we do not make good use of our self to help & benefiting others. We can be volatile and flexible in our life for others. That is what Rinpoche’s doing now and future.
TQ again Rinpoche. This stage play really a practice to me and I enjoy it.

  25. Andrew James Boon on Jul 19, 2010 at 2:38 pm

He is so much beautiful than most of us guys too!!!! Truly is samsara… proof! hehehehe

  26. Paris on Jul 19, 2010 at 1:57 pm

PS isn’t there something slightly unfair about the way Bryan is so much more beautiful than most of the rest of us girls? Samsara is this way, I suppose!!

  27. Paris on Jul 19, 2010 at 1:54 pm

It goes without saying that all the “girls” did a most fantastic job (all of course, under the brilliant direction and choreography by our very own Margaret). I was really rather surprised they pulled it together so fast, with less than a week of rehearsing… considering too that none of them have ever danced (well, bopping about in clubs doesn’t really count).
I think the best part of the whole evening was knowing how much some of them really didn’t want to be up there at first (ngeow, tatming, wai meng) – we can’t forget that momentous evening in Boathouse where we grilled them and just about “forced” them to dance. And they did it! They let their guard down, let go their weird attachments, let their hair down (what little of it they had) and went all out for Dharma. That was what really made it the best “show” of the evening 🙂

  28. Paris on Jul 19, 2010 at 1:45 pm

And what a splendid swan Thierry was! (as they all were).
I bet never in his life did he ever think, “when I grow up, I want to be a ballerina, a girl one, with a tutu and white feathers for eyebrows.” See, in dharma ANYTHING is possible….!

  29. Janice on Jul 19, 2010 at 1:07 pm

Absolultely hilarious, charming, “sexy”, touching performance last night. This is the first time i get to see Kecharians in Motion. The black swans are amazing – all the serious guys as we know them off stage. I wouldnt have guessed Mr Ngeow or Tat Meng on stage. The Girls are great, you guys have good legs, you know, hahaha. Kudos to Margaret too for “taming” all of your limbs to performance. Thank you, thank you.

  30. Andrew James Boon on Jul 19, 2010 at 10:23 am

They did a wonderful job at the Charity Dinner last night…. fabulous! Am very proud of each and everyone of the performers especially my baby! Well done!!! I think I was whisling the loudest… hehehe.
    Fantastic!!!!
By the way Rinpoche, love the new tweek in format in the there are “suggestions” after the posts. Love it! An on the right a single line for each “recent post” is also much neater!
    Thierry is resting poor swan!

  31. Ooi Pe on Jul 19, 2010 at 10:00 am

The night is over – exhibits taken down, chairs and tables stashed away, all the deicious food gobbled down, holy items up for bid were generously invited home by the successful bidders. Family and friends came together for another wonderful event, many lingering on well into the night and early this morning.
NO doubt about it – the Girls danced their way into everybody’s hearts. There were wives & parents in the audience who could not recognise their darlings up there on the stage.
I am not sure if our “family” was the LOUDEST (whoop, catcalls cheers) but one thing I am sure of – everyone involved in last night’s event deserve all the applause.

  32. Ivy on Jul 19, 2010 at 6:52 am

    Bryan Ho… WOW =D

  33. keng tan on Jul 19, 2010 at 12:50 am

No wonder the mirrors cracked. They are such a smashing bunch. And to top it all they are a fabulous dharma bunch of people who are not afraid to be alternate and I can tell they are loving every second of it.

The DEVOTION, COMMITMENT and SACRIFICE from the ‘girls’ and EVERY SINGLE member of the team, crew and organiser is the MOST BEAUTIFUL ACT – these JEWELS in Rinpoche’s mandala INSPIRE me so! Thank you very much, “Kam-sia che-che”!

    OMG!!!
Our darling Chia does really look like Chia Fu Ren (妇人)in her full maternal glory!!!
She really looks beautiful though I think it might be really hard work taking care of so many swans and swanks of different disposition and sizes. What could be more interesting than having all swans lined up and have people bid for these swans to do their best for their clientelles tonight!
    Kudos to everyone:)

    Dear Wanna-be girls and swans,
I would just like to share that we helped another sick homeless get medical attention and food tonight. He has some sort of breathing disorder and infected lungs. We admitted him to Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
Every step of the dance you guys will be making tomorrow and all your rehearsals plays a part of the hope we bring to the streets and the people who are in need. So, please dance your hearts out!! In my eyes, you guys are Wonder Women!! super heroes!!
May the stage light up with your love and tenacity for the dharma!!
with much love and even more respect,
    Wee Liang

From all the pictures I’ve seen of Mr. Ngeow, he comes off as a serious tightass. Seeing him in drags and lipstick and most importantly, having a lot of fun kneed my expectations in the balls!
Also, somewhat related, an ad I stumbled upon today.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdpjM3OeLSo
May I also develop the strength to overcome my rigidity like Mr. Ngeow.

  39. Judy on Jul 18, 2010 at 12:42 am

He He … this sneak preview from Margaret and the captions from Rinpoche is so very funny! Can’t wait to see them perform tomorrow night!
Wai Meng … if you do make your appearance to e-division next week, please alert us so we won’t pass out! Love thy neighbours, you know …. Allan looks like he is enjoying every bit of the glamour and attention he is getting! He is having a great time. Albert looks like a swan who badly needed a rest! It must be from too much of practice ! It’s easier selling a wealth-vase than to be a swan!
The swans and wanna-be-girls have stepped out of their comfort zone to make this dance a success and dare to be different for the cause of Dharma. Kudos!

    chickle? i meant chuckle!!! hehehe

  44. Andrew James Boon on Jul 17, 2010 at 7:03 pm

If I were on a chair I would have most certainly fallen off it. Too funny and with even funnier captions! Funnies aside and without biased I think it takes great courage and supression of ego or lack of to undertake such a task.
Let not the wide smiles, painted or otherwise (chickle!) deter us from the objective and hard work our Dharma brothers (sisters?) have put in often right into the wee hours of the mornings.
We are truly blessed to be in the presence of, what Anutie Han Nee has so aptly put, Dharma in Motion! Examples of pure dedication to behold. I am so looking forward to tomorrow’s event!

  45. thierryfornow on Jul 17, 2010 at 6:58 pm

For the readers here that do not know me, I am a white swan (it is my “natural state”).
I was actually interviewed yesterday and one of the questions I was asked was :
“Did anyone in particular surprised you in taking part of this show ?”
I replied that indeed, the people in ‘black-swan’ surprised me, Mr. Ngeow, Tat-Ming, Fat Monk and Wai-Meng. Then I thought about it again after the interview, and I think that what would really have surprised me is that they would have said no, then I would have been chocked and sadened instead of being pleasantly surprised.
    To the black-swans, HUURRRAAYYY!
To the white-swan, WE ARE THE BEST!
To the “wanna-be-girls”, IT’S IN YOUR SKIN!

  46. Lim Han Nee on Jul 17, 2010 at 5:33 pm

    Dear Rinpoche,
This IS Dharma in Motion! Seeing Mr Ngeow and having to switch one’s perception of an awesome Lamrim teacher to that of the Black Swan dancer trying to turn on ‘her’ charm and allure; or the perception of the quietly serious KH administrator to that of a ballerina trying to exude charm and grace with a smile – a 360 degree turn? This is really Dharma – ego down to ground zero. Can’t we all do it as well? Here I am laughing at this very entertaining post whilst scratching myself bloody and also laughing at my great discomfort over my terrible attack of skin rash, probably purification from the Setrap Retreat?

  47. Shirley Tan on Jul 17, 2010 at 4:03 pm

I think the captions Rinpoche wrote below all the photos made them all the more funny! I couldn’t stop laughing from the beginning to the end.
Yes, only Kecharians are that BRAVE or that CRAZY!
We love the Dharma so much that we wouldn’t mind doing the silliest thing and making fools out of ourselves. Well, in some cases, the Wanna-be Girls are actually very stunning! Like Bryan Ho!!!! He looks like a supermodel or Japanese pop star sensation!
Dharma is really fun, funny, exciting and it makes us look at ourselves differently. In this case, it also makes you look at us differently.
As Rinpoche says many times, when it is all done from the heart, with the right motivation, it is a good cause in itself.
I cannot wait for the show tomorrow night!

  48. Ethan Chu on Jul 17, 2010 at 1:34 pm

At first, many were reluctant to be in a dress, the difficult dance moves and everyone was extremely busy with their work… But everyone worked so hard at this performance and started to have fun “cam whoring”… it was hilarious!
After a few days of “intense” rehearsals, all actually got really comfortable and really put everything together and the performance is stunning!!! It touches my heart that regardless of your sexuality, age and status; they all went through this and put down their egos coz they are know they are doing it for a good cause.
Guys, be there at the dinner to witness the hard work and effort of the swans and the wannabe girls. Can’t wait really!!!!

  49. May Ong on Jul 17, 2010 at 1:14 pm

Watching the Black and White Swank gals and legs in sexy stockings were great! The videos were so funny …. I can’t stop laughing!
Kechara members would do anything for Dharma!
Great job and can’t wait till dinner tomorrow night to raise funds for a good cause – our new gompa or temple!

  50. Nicholas BP on Jul 17, 2010 at 12:09 pm

I could not believe that our teacher Mr.Ngeow?@#$% in that costume..Eric natural..Robert a Latin blonde..others what can i say
lol…but their ego dropped to zero. That’s DHARMA!

  51. Josh Akers on Jul 17, 2010 at 10:19 am

Tat ming makes me feel not so bad when I dressed in drag, on the forums. Shout out to Wai Meng… Looking good. Anybody else think Bryan Ho looks like a professional, um, ladie model? Excellent job on makeup too.

A card and hard disc from Sean Wang was truly a smart idea afterall. Nobody could imagine such idea but he did it. Placing thumb drives with millions and billions of Vajrayogini her holy mantra in Tibetan into the holy statue. Not only that drawing pictures too . Such a great idea whereby people come to make offerings, prostrate, circumambulate, collecting huge amount of merits for themselves and their love ones. Thanks to Sean Wang/

Reading this blog kindly reminded us of the most cherished people in our lives that’s our parents. Mother’s Day that is on this Sunday 12th of May and Father’s Day falls on the third Sunday in June. Teachers Day too important ……a day to honour and recognise their roles in our lives. Rinpoche always emphasised that we should not avoid the responsibility of repaying the kindness of the people who have helped us in our life. The only true way to honour and repay their kindness is to let them know that their kindness meant a lot to us . Do something good for them or someone else as this practice ultimately gives enormous power and possibilities for positive effects in many lives not just our own life. Simple saying thank you and expressing our appreciation can go a long way.
Reading all those powerful quotes by Rinpoche gives us a lesson and example.
Thank you Rinpoche and writers team for sharing

Achi Chökyi Drölma is the Dharma Protector of the Drikung Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. She also appears as a protector in the Karma Kagyu refuge tree as Achi Chodron. Although Achi has a particular committment to protect the Drikung Kagyu, she is recognized and practiced by all lineages of Tibetan Buddhism. To benefit the beings in samsara, she displays a limitless number of manifestations at different times and in different space dimensions. She vowed to protect the Drikung Kagyu lineage and its practitioners, removing inner and outer obstacles , a revered figure in Tibetan Buddhism, embodies the harmonious union of compassion, wisdom, and protective energy. a powerful wisdom-protector who guards and protects all sincere Dharma-practitioners to rely on her. She is also known for her power to confer wealth. She rose to protect Drikung Kagyu lineage while Dorje Shugden who rose to protect the Gelug teaching. Interesting read.

Dorje Shugden is a special Dharma Protector who quickly fulfils wishes and sincere prayers. He brings healing, harmony and peace; protects from harm and obstacles and attracts opportunities for success and growth. To promote the practice of Dorje Shugden, Kechara has came up a easy way for more people to understand the Powerful Practice. Presented in six different languages as such in English, Tibetan བོད་ཡིག, Chinese 中文, Hindi हिंदी, Tamil தமிழ், Nepali नेपाली so everyone could access. For the last 60 years, the Tibetan Government-in-Exile has exploited, abused, marginalised and persecuted their people. For the first time in six decades, since the Tibetans first entered a life in exile, we are seeing more and more examples of ordinary Tibetans speaking up against this exploitation. In years gone past, Tibetans would never have dared to voice their objections to the leadership. They have been mixing religion and politics ever since. A majority of the Tibetans in India are stateless, and been sufferings quietly. Hundreds of thousands of Tibetans were killed during the Chinese invasion, prompting the young Dalai Lama to flee into exile in 1959. Because of all the exploitation the younger Tibetan generation are willing to express and speaking up.
Reading the commentary by a anonymous member of the Tibetan community tells us how those desperate Tibetans experienced all this while and to voice the truth. Interesting read. In order to achieve peace it is necessary to address the root of violence and conflict by having dialogue between the Chinese Government and the Tibetan Government.

The legendary Ra Lotsawa Dorje Drak was born in the village of Nyenam,Southern Tibet amidst many auspicious signs of a high rebirth. Ra Lotsawa was a great tantric master and is one of the most controversial Buddhist teachers in Tibetan history who had used wrathful means to subjugate his opponents. One of the previous lives of Dorje Shugden is the renowned lama Ra Lotsawa Dorje Drak, Amongst his great deeds, Ra Lotsawa was known to have renovated many with Samye, Tibet’s first monastery. He also sponsored numerous new translation works, the copying and recitation of sacred scriptures, and the installation of Buddha statues. Interesting read of the biography of this great master. Ra Lotsawa Dorje Drakpa left behind a legacy of many great lamas, practitioners and preserving, as well as spreading this tantric system in Tibet.

Dorjé Shukden is a controversial Tibetan Buddhist protector deity, believed by some to be a wrathful spirit and by others to be an enlightened Buddha. The controversy that arose from this divided understanding over the last fifty years has impacted the Tibetan Buddhist community globally and continues to be relevant to observers and practitioners of Buddhism the world over. The Yellow Book, based on its cover. It was composed by Kyabje Zemey Rinpoche in 1970, but it was not published until 1973. Kyabje Zemey Rinpoche never intended for his book to be published but somehow it was published without his permission. According to the introduction, Kyabje Zemey Rinpoche authored this book in 1970 based on teachings given by Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, the junior tutor to the 14th Dalai Lama. The original intention of this book was to be complementary material to Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche’s book, Music Delighting An Ocean of Protectors, which was published six years before the Yellow Book. The Yellow Book did not circulate widely until several years later. It is a collection of cautionary tales and teachings but sadly some influential powerful officials and people who had corrupted the Gelug lineage . Interesting read.
I am looking forward to finish reading this book.

Firebirds are mythical birds found in the folklore of many cultures. They are often depicted as magical birds with feathers that glow like flames or the sun. The mythology surrounding firebirds varies between cultures, but there are some common themes. In Greek mythology, the mythical bird known for its ability to be reborn from its ashes, symbolizing immortality and renewal. It is often depicted as a beautiful and majestic creature with brightly coloured feathers and a long tail. Interesting read of the stories related to the mythology, legend and folklore in this blog.

Cham Dance is the traditional dance of Tibetans. It involves a series of masked dances, which are usually performed by monks and laymen, wearing colourful costumes. These dances are vibrant and lively and are performed during annual festivals. Dorje Shugden Cham dance is one of them, is said to have originated in the Himalayan range and by far the date and year are kept as a treasured secret to this date. The Dorje Shugden cham dance is rare but not an obscure lineage; there are certain monasteries in Tibet who have practised this dance for hundreds of years. Dorje Shugden Cham dance is a colourful and impressive performance, performed by Buddhist monks who practiced Dorje Shugden. The Cham dance is very powerful and through the dance which depicts the truth of Dorje Shugden. There are a few variations of accounts on the history and the lineage of Dorje Shugden, written by various attained lamas in the last 350 years. Collected works on Dorje Shugden written by His H H Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche considered the most accurate account. As describes clearly how Dorje Shugden for many lifetimes had manifested high level Mahasiddhas. Dorje Shugden and his entourage of thirty-two deities are all depicted in the Cham dance as a World Peace Protector. Interesting read.
    Thank you Rinpoche great sharing.

Bouddha, also known as Boudhanath, is a stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal which is located about 11 km from outskirts of Kathmandu. Its massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal and the world. The Boudhanath Stupa pyramid is coated with over 60 pounds of gold, is one of the largest and one of the most significant Buddhist monuments in the world. This great Stupa is home to precious relics and this semi-circular structure stands out with its majestic mandala, recognized by UNESCO in 1979 as a World Heritage Site. The Boudhanath is the most sacred sites in Tibetan Buddhism outside of Tibet, reflecting the cosmological tenets of Buddhism. Was there last year June joining thousands of pilgrims circumambulate the stupa.
The aerial view of this Boudhanath Stupa is magnificent indeed. Looking merely at the pictures is a blessing.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer

Umze for the day was Siew Hong. She's just been with us for slightly more than a year now but she's proven her capability in leading the puja. Our Penang group members are so proud of her and her commitment in attending the weekly puja. Despite being eloquence and smart, she has beautiful chant as well. When she leads, make sure you are there to hear her chant for yourself! Kechara Penang Study Group by Jacinta.
