Why I share Dorje Shugden with others

My very holy, wise and attained lamas told me over 30 years ago that Dorje Shugden is Manjushri. I’ve had many lamas and they tell me the same thing. He can benefit many beings during this time and age because our distractions are so many. We need a special protector who can ‘push’ through our heavy negative karma to help us as we are very attached. Materialistic advances do not make the inner mind more happy but just give slight relief to our outer bodies. In fact, they actually present more distraction from the goal of raising our consciousness to higher levels. Material advancement does not equal happiness. It never has.

The Buddhas, and in this case Manjushri, manifest at special times to suit special karmic situations and their practices are therefore more effective at different times. It is like the antibiotics first created decades ago which may not heal modern diseases we have now but it was fine back then. So, over time antibiotics have to keep changing to adapt. Like that, protectors (and enlightened beings) keep changing manifestations to suit the inclinations, unique manifestations of karma and situations in our lives as time goes on. Perhaps Dorje Shugden will have to change his form and manifestation in the future again and again but for now, he is the perfect protector for our time. A protector whose time has come. Manjushri manifested as Dorje Shugden for our particular time for the beings of this era. In that way, he is particularly effective to ‘battle’ our current modern obstacles. If we rely on him all the way, our relationship with him will grow and we will see his positive influence in our lives more and more for sure. Dorje Shugden manifests solely due to great enlightened compassion to help sentient beings, a hallmark of a Buddha.
One of the promises I made to H.H. Kyabje Zong Rinpoche was to hold the practices that he gave me, which includes the Dorje Shugden practice.
I have practiced, shared and promoted Dorje Shugden for the simple reason that I have derived tremendous benefits from relying on him as promised by my erudite teachers and I wanted to share the benefits with others. Monks have a special duty to share benefits and relieve the sufferings of others as much as they can according to the special situations in their environments. I practice and have shared Dorje Shugden for only spiritual reasons for the last 30 years. I have no other reason but a spiritual one. I trust my guru 100%. Practicing and holding onto my commitments to Dorje Shugden is really holding onto my promise to my guru that I will practice him. My respect for my guru and remembering his kindness to me is to keep my promises and commitments to him of which Dorje Shugden is one of those promises. You see, the guru is the important factor here and Dorje Shugden is a part of that for me.

Rinpoche is very kind to share Dorje Shugden to all of us. There are so many high lamas who can confirmed that Dorje Shugden is emanation of Manjushri and is very beneficial especially during this period. In order to bring the practise do us Rinpoche has to withstand many negative comments and threat from the Tibetans and non Dorje Shugden practitioners. I personally have experienced the powers of Dorje Shugden much to my amazement for each request I make even of the minute ask is fulfilled sometimes immediately within the day of asking or several days to weeks depending on my extend of my life request.

There is no doubt that Dorje Shugden is an emanation of Buddha Manjushri and he is an enlightened Dharma protector who we can rely on. Trijang Rinpoche also said that in the text he composed called “Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors”. Apart Trijang Rinpoche, many high lamas also have written prayers to Dorje Shugden. If he is a spirit, high lamas would not propitiate him.
Dorje Shugden has many good qualities. He can give us protections and remove our obstacles. He is suitable for people of all ages to practice. For adults, he can help us to fulfill our wishes; for students, he can give them clarity of mind so they can learn better. In general, he can give us protection from harm, negative energy on a daily basis.
