I Appreciate Mama Mooi Lan So Much
Mama Mooi Lan and her daughter Jojo visited our Kechara Paradise Sunway Outlet last month. I was very happy for that. We presented her a new Tsongkapa box. Mama Mooi Lan is a very generous and kind lady. When I arrived in Malaysia years ago, she was one of a few people in a group from Cheras that always helped me.
She never demanded or made conditions. She just helped me in so many ways from the goodness of her heart. Really she helped me and my work IN SO MANY WAYS THAT YOU WOULD THINK I WAS HER SON. I appreciate this lady deeply and I am very close to her. I will NEVER FORGET her kindness and how she helped me in the early days. I am doing better now and that is partly because of this lady and the wonderful Cheras group. The early days had so many struggles and difficulties and this group from Cheras was always there to help. We are in contact now of course and when I think of them, I can never forget their kindness. Never. I thank Mama Mooi Lan and the whole Cheras group so much from the bottom of my heart.
We should never forget who helped us and be loyal. We are where we are because of them. We should have good contact with them if at all possible, send them gifts and always pray for them. Remember, we can’t get to where we are without help from our friends. Loyalty is a big part of making us good human beings. ALWAYS BE LOYAL. ALWAY REPAY BACK THE KINDNESS OF OTHERS. Never forget who loved you, and helped you especially during the lean years. Make yourself human always by doing that.
I love you Mama Mooi Lan and you are very special to me.

Although I do not know who is Mama Mooi Lan but definitely being grateful to the person who has helped us especially those difficult days. Even we might not cross the path again or perhaps not in good terms (in some cases) but we should remind ourselves of their kindness when we needed help. We should repay their kindness or perhaps a single good wish will do wonders!
Hope she and the daughter are living happily.
Nice post

Much condolences to Mama Mooi Lan’s family. Even though my family and I are still very young Kecharians, but due to your kindness and loving care during HE Tsem Rinpoche’s early days in Malaysia, we are able to receive teachings from HE now. It is with your support and assistance that we are able to build Kechara with Rinpoche’s guidance. We wish you a swift rebirth and may you enjoy the abundance of Dharma and never parted from perfect Gurus.
It’s so kind of you giving help during these years. We sincerely thank you and wish you have a good rebirth and close to dharma.
Every so now and then, we hear of people passing away… This is sad, but this is the truth. The only thing that is guaranteed is we will die one day.
Though I have not met Mama Mooi Lan before, I thank her for her contribution, for not because of her and the team’s effort, I will not be able to sit here comfortably doing my so called Dharma work.
It is also a reminder to me that things are impermanent, and at the time of death, nothing really matters except for the mind transformation. With you as my inspiration, may I have the courage and determination to continue serving others,
Much condolences to Mama Mooi Lan’s family and close friends… she must have been a wonderful lady. May she quickly take a smooth, fast and fortunate rebirth to practice the Dharma as she had done so diligently in this life.
My condolences to Mama Mooi Lan’s family.
As student of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche, we can’t thank you enough for all your kindness and helps to Rinpoche in his early years in Malaysia. Kind sponsors like Mama Mooi Lan are the ones that contributed to the manisfestation of Kechara now and what to become later like the Kechara Forest Retreat and ultimately the KWPC. The merits of helping Rinpoche to spread Dharma before and in the future, we dedicate to Mama Mooi Lan for her good and swift rebirth and also dedicate the merits to all the people who had been kind and supported Rinpoche.
Dear Mama Mooi Lan and family
We are lighting candles in Kechara to dedicate to your swift and good rebirth and your good deeds to help Tsem Rinpoche when he arrived in Malaysia. Without your kind and generous sponsorship, Kechara would not manifest to benefit so many of us here today through Rinpoche’s teachings. Thank you.
My deepest condolences to Mama Mooi Lan’s family and relatives. Without Mama Mooi Lan’s help many thousands and in the future hundreds of thousands will not get the benefit if you had not helped Tsem Rinpoche. I pray you thought of many virtuous things you have done in your life just before you passed away and may you have a swift rebirth in Dharma again.
Our family deepest condolences to Rinpoche and Mama Mooi Lan’s family. It is always very sad to hear & know someone’s love one departed & leave behind their be loved family members & friends & Guru !
Yes, Rinpoche teaches us the correct lessons in life that we MUST always remembered & repayed the kindness of other ppl whom had helped us in any ways in the past, can be in terms of small money when we were poor, food when were hungry or spiritual helps… no matter after how many years had passed or after we are ” Successful ”
Thank you Rinpoche for the teaching & wish you Good Health always !
Mama Mooi Lan, we will never forget the kindness and support you gave to Rinpoche when Rinpoche first came to. I rejoice and believe that you have collected tremendous merits as a pioneer in supporting Rinpoche’s work in Malaysia and you will take a good and swift rebirth soon. May you always be blessed by the Three Jewels.
My condolences and prayers to Jojo and family.
I have met Mama Mooi Lan long time ago….very briefly. But i remembered Rinpoche always telling us how generous, helpful and how kind she was. It was not easy for Tsem Rinpoche during those days when Rinpoche had just brought Dharma to our very shore. With all the contaminate minds we have, is even more difficult for Rinpoche to penetrate the Holy Dharma into us. But Rinpoche never give up and with the help of His loyal students, Kechara has grown into one of the famous Buddhists Organization in the world if not Malaysia. I believed if is not because of Mama Mooi Lan, we weren’t be here commenting on this very blog post, not only that but perhaps there won’t be Kechara of today. So, i sincerely wish Mama Mooi Lan to have a good rebirth and may she be able to receive Dharma and help others similar to this life of hers.
Thank you Mama Mooi Lan. Thank you Tsem Rinpoche for not giving up.
My deepest condolences to Mama Mooi Lan’s family. It is because of Mama Mooi Lan that we have Rinpoche and the works of Kechara growing today. Without the efforts, kindness and care that Mama Mooi Lan gave to Rinpoche, maybe what we have today would not be as as such. Though I have never met you, thank you Mama Mooi Lan, we will continue the works to bring Rinpoche and Kechara to the world to help many more souls.
Rinpoche, thank you for sharing this post with us. I will light a candle for Mama Mooi Lan and dedicate my prayers to her for a swift rebirth and to meet the Dharma again. We never know when the time for us to live will be up, there’s nothing certain in life besides death and karma.
Mama Mooi Lan was so kind and generous! Because of her care towards Rinpoche, we are able to meet Rinpoche and Dharma.
Lets pray together for Mama Mooi Lan’s swift and good rebirth and always have the good merits to practice Dharma.
Dear Mama Mooi Lan,
Although I’ve never met you but from Rinpoche and his senior students , we know it is due to you and those supported Rinpoche during his early years here in Malaysia that we have Rinpoche with us now.
Your kindness will always be remembered by Kecharians.
With prayers,
Yoke Fui
Thank you Mama Mooi Lan and the Cheras for contributing and helping Rinpoche in the early years. Without you, we would not have Kechara and what it is today. And it would not have been so easy for someone like me to just walk in and be a part of it.
May Mama Mooi Lan have a swift and good rebirth and always be near the Dharma. My deepest condolences to the family.
Thank you Mrs Mooi Lan. Without your support I wouldn’t have meet Rinpoche and the precious Dharma teachings. May I fortunate enough to meet you in future lives as well.
I have heard Rinpoche mentioned of Mama Mooi Lan many times and I have met her and Jojo once albeit briefly. A quiet unassuming lady.
My condolences and prayers to Jojo and family.
Deepest condolences to Mama Mooi Lan’s family
May Mama Mooi Lan be blessed by the Buddha and may she has a good rebirth!
Mama Mooi Lan — without you, we would not have been blessed to have Rinpoche with us here. Thank you so very much.
May you have a swift rebirth and always be close to the Dharma with Buddha’s blessing.
Dear Rinpoche,
Thank you for sharing the story of this wonderful person, Mama Mooi Lan. I am inspired by her loyal and generous self. Reading about her in a way makes me feel indebted to her because she helped Rinpoche at the beginning. I guess she was one of the few kind souls that helped Rinpoche and that’s why all of us have Kechara and Rinpoche’s amazing teachings today. I am sorry to hear that she passed away and I will light a candle in her honour tonight. May she take a good rebirth and meet Rinpoche again!
I did not know mama mooi, but a lovely lady she sounds. And because of her help to Rinpoche during the early years, Rinpoche is able to be here in Malaysia to benefit so many. Thank you and may she have a good rebirth.
Because of what you did then, Rinpoche was able to teach without worrying about finances. And also because of that Rinpoche is here and now for everyone! Thank you for being so kind, loving and caring.
May you be bless by the Buddhas in all your lives and be a sponsor again in all your lives for Dharma. May you have swift rebirths in all lives with Dharma. Will light candles and dedicate merits to you.
Deepest condolences to Rinpoche and Mama Mooi Lan’s family. Her passing is not something to be sad about though as I believe her support for Rinpoche and Rinpoche’s works has garnered her countless merits which will take her to a good rebirth. From her (and others of course) initial support when Rinpoche first came to Malaysia, Rinpoche has managed to create Kechara, and eventually KWPC. Rinpoche’s tremendously beneficial works will benefit the sponsors who created the causes for these works to happen. That is karma. If we have any opportunity at all to support Rinpoche’s work, we should follow Mama Mooi Lan’s example and give as much as we can.
I remember many years ago, that is more than 10 years ago Mama Mooi Lan went to Ganden Monastery to visit Rinpoche for blessing as she was always sickly. Whew! Mama Mooi Lan is still striving on after that trip. What a blessing from Rinpoche.
Rinpoche shows us many lessons and example of how he appreciates people who stuck with him through thick and thin. From the days when Rinpoche struggled in the early days there were many who helped rinpoche, and Rinpoche still to this day speak and is concerned about them. He never forgets their kindness and generosity ever.
Mama Mooi Lan is a wonderful person very soft spoken and gentle. She is what Rinpoche says she has been and still are. I met her on one of the early trips which I organise and brought her to visit Rinpoche in Ganden when Rinpoche returned from Malaysia. Three people from cheras Mama Mooi Lan, Mama Yong and Alfred. Mama Mooi Lan is the sister in law of Mama Yong. Unfortunately when mama mooi lan visited Tsem Ladrang Ganden. Rinpoche fell very sick and could not spend as much personal time with the Cheras Group. But all the same they were able to be in Rinpoche’s house when a lot of people would not been able to. Although mama mooi lan and Cheras group is from another Lineage they have never hesitated to help Rinpoche when Rinpoche came to Malaysia in 1992.
Mum always wanted to visit the Kechara Sunway outlet, since the day Rinpoche informed her about the outlet. But she has never had the chance cause all of us are working most of the time and she can’t really walk that much because of her illness. I finally brought her to the outlet on her birthday, to her, this is the best present for her on her birthday, fulfilling her promise of visiting the Sunway Kechara outlet. Rinpoche, i just want to let you know that mum always think of you and she miss you a lot. On the other hand, same to you, she can’t thank you enough of helping her through the tough time over the pass years. Mum always tell us how you’ve encouraged her when she’s lying in the hospital, that she will be fine and with your kind words she has the courage to live again. I can’t thank you enough for that.
Thanks Alvyn for sharing this wonderful page with me and i can’t wait till mum wakes up tomorrow and show her what Rinpoche has said about her. Rinpoche, thank you so much for having Mama Mooi Lan in your mind and likewise, Mama Mooi Lan miss you all the time as well, just like missing her own child. Hope you are always at the best of your health.
I don’t know if i met this kind lady, but i would like to. anyone that was good to Rinpoche back then should be praised and blessed. May she always have someone to watch over her.
Aunty Mooi Lan is one kind soul for us to look up to – people like her, simply LIVE THE DHARMA…. i guess many people who can weave beautiful philosophy of Dharma may not even be so filled with KINDNESS like her; and truly, like what Rinpoche said, we must not forget the kind people in our life. Gratefulness in a person is a virtue makes the person great!
Mama Mooi Lan was one of the 1st people who had help Rinpoche when he arrived in Malaysia. Unfortunately we did not have KMP Div in the early years when Rinpoche came to Malaysdia to teach Manjushri and the story of Gelupa Lineage. The news Tsongkapa Box set wshich was churned out from KMP has complete information and HISTORY OF OUR LINEAGE THE GELUPA LINEAGE. this has help Rinpoche a lot by reducing his teachings so that he can concentrate on his projects in his other 13 Depts. Also KMP with the promotion of the Tsongkapa box set will also bring a lot of new members to Kechara whereby they can be come volunteers or sponsoors speeding the progress of Kechara Organisation.
