I Appreciate Mama Mooi Lan So Much

Aug 25, 2010 | Views: 542

Mama Mooi Lan and her daughter Jojo visited our Kechara Paradise Sunway Outlet last month. I was very happy for that. We presented her a new Tsongkapa box. Mama Mooi Lan is a very generous and kind lady. When I arrived in Malaysia years ago, she was one of a few people in a group from Cheras that always helped me.

She never demanded or made conditions. She just helped me in so many ways from the goodness of her heart. Really she helped me and my work IN SO MANY WAYS THAT YOU WOULD THINK I WAS HER SON. I appreciate this lady deeply and I am very close to her. I will NEVER FORGET her kindness and how she helped me in the early days. I am doing better now and that is partly because of this lady and the wonderful Cheras group. The early days had so many struggles and difficulties and this group from Cheras was always there to help. We are in contact now of course and when I think of them, I can never forget their kindness. Never. I thank Mama Mooi Lan and the whole Cheras group so much from the bottom of my heart.

We should never forget who helped us and be loyal. We are where we are because of them. We should have good contact with them if at all possible, send them gifts and always pray for them. Remember, we can’t get to where we are without help from our friends. Loyalty is a big part of making us good human beings. ALWAYS BE LOYAL. ALWAY REPAY BACK THE KINDNESS OF OTHERS. Never forget who loved you, and helped you especially during the lean years. Make yourself human always by doing that.

I love you Mama Mooi Lan and you are very special to me.

Although I do not know who is Mama Mooi Lan but definitely being grateful to the person who has helped us especially those difficult days. Even we might not cross the path again or perhaps not in good terms (in some cases) but we should remind ourselves of their kindness when we needed help. We should repay their kindness or perhaps a single good wish will do wonders!

Hope she and the daughter are living happily.

Much condolences to Mama Mooi Lan’s family. Even though my family and I are still very young Kecharians, but due to your kindness and loving care during HE Tsem Rinpoche’s early days in Malaysia, we are able to receive teachings from HE now. It is with your support and assistance that we are able to build Kechara with Rinpoche’s guidance. We wish you a swift rebirth and may you enjoy the abundance of Dharma and never parted from perfect Gurus.

It’s so kind of you giving help during these years. We sincerely thank you and wish you have a good rebirth and close to dharma.

Every so now and then, we hear of people passing away… This is sad, but this is the truth. The only thing that is guaranteed is we will die one day.

Though I have not met Mama Mooi Lan before, I thank her for her contribution, for not because of her and the team’s effort, I will not be able to sit here comfortably doing my so called Dharma work.

It is also a reminder to me that things are impermanent, and at the time of death, nothing really matters except for the mind transformation. With you as my inspiration, may I have the courage and determination to continue serving others,

My condolences to Mama Mooi Lan’s family.

As student of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche, we can’t thank you enough for all your kindness and helps to Rinpoche in his early years in Malaysia. Kind sponsors like Mama Mooi Lan are the ones that contributed to the manisfestation of Kechara now and what to become later like the Kechara Forest Retreat and ultimately the KWPC. The merits of helping Rinpoche to spread Dharma before and in the future, we dedicate to Mama Mooi Lan for her good and swift rebirth and also dedicate the merits to all the people who had been kind and supported Rinpoche.

Dear Mama Mooi Lan and family
We are lighting candles in Kechara to dedicate to your swift and good rebirth and your good deeds to help Tsem Rinpoche when he arrived in Malaysia. Without your kind and generous sponsorship, Kechara would not manifest to benefit so many of us here today through Rinpoche’s teachings. Thank you.

My deepest condolences to Mama Mooi Lan’s family and relatives. Without Mama Mooi Lan’s help many thousands and in the future hundreds of thousands will not get the benefit if you had not helped Tsem Rinpoche. I pray you thought of many virtuous things you have done in your life just before you passed away and may you have a swift rebirth in Dharma again.

Our family deepest condolences to Rinpoche and Mama Mooi Lan’s family. It is always very sad to hear & know someone’s love one departed & leave behind their be loved family members & friends & Guru !
Yes, Rinpoche teaches us the correct lessons in life that we MUST always remembered & repayed the kindness of other ppl whom had helped us in any ways in the past, can be in terms of small money when we were poor, food when were hungry or spiritual helps… no matter after how many years had passed or after we are ” Successful ”
Thank you Rinpoche for the teaching & wish you Good Health always !

Mama Mooi Lan, we will never forget the kindness and support you gave to Rinpoche when Rinpoche first came to. I rejoice and believe that you have collected tremendous merits as a pioneer in supporting Rinpoche’s work in Malaysia and you will take a good and swift rebirth soon. I have met Mama Mooi Lan long time ago….very briefly. But i remembered Rinpoche always telling us how generous, helpful and how kind she was. It was not easy for Tsem Rinpoche during those days when Rinpoche had just brought Dharma to our very shore. With all the contaminate minds we have, is even more difficult for Rinpoche to penetrate the Holy Dharma into us. But Rinpoche never give up and with the help of His loyal students, Kechara has grown into one of the famous Buddhists Organization in the world if not Malaysia. I believed if is not because of Mama Mooi Lan, we weren’t be here commenting on this very blog post, not only that but perhaps there won’t be Kechara of today. So, i sincerely wish Mama Mooi Lan to have a good rebirth and may she be able to receive Dharma and help others similar to this life of hers.

Thank you Mama Mooi Lan. Thank you Tsem Rinpoche for not giving up.

My deepest condolences to Mama Mooi Lan’s family. It is because of Mama Mooi Lan that we have Rinpoche and the works of Kechara growing today. Without the efforts, kindness and care that Mama Mooi Lan gave to Rinpoche, maybe what we have today would not be as as such. Though I have never met you, thank you Mama Mooi Lan, we will continue the works to bring Rinpoche and Kechara to the world to help many more souls.

Rinpoche, thank you for sharing this post with us. I will light a candle for Mama Mooi Lan and dedicate my prayers to her for a swift rebirth and to meet the Dharma again. We never know when the time for us to live will be up, there’s nothing certain in life besides death and karma.

Thank you Mama Mooi Lan and the Cheras for contributing and helping Rinpoche in the early years. Without you, we would not have Kechara and what it is today. And it would not have been so easy for someone like me to just walk in and be a part of it.

May Mama Mooi Lan have a swift and good rebirth and always be near the Dharma. My deepest condolences to the family.

    Dear Rinpoche,
Thank you for sharing the story of this wonderful person, Mama Mooi Lan. I am inspired by her loyal and generous self. Reading about her in a way makes me feel indebted to her because she helped Rinpoche at the beginning. I guess she was one of the few kind souls that helped Rinpoche and that’s why all of us have Kechara and Rinpoche’s amazing teachings today. I am sorry to hear that she passed away and I will light a candle in her honour tonight. May she take a good rebirth and meet Rinpoche again!

May you be bless by the Buddhas in all your lives and be a sponsor again in all your lives for Dharma. May you have swift rebirths in all lives with Dharma. Will light candles and dedicate merits to you.

Deepest condolences to Rinpoche and Mama Mooi Lan’s family. Her passing is not something to be sad about though as I believe her support for Rinpoche and Rinpoche’s works has garnered her countless merits which will take her to a good rebirth. From her (and others of course) initial support when Rinpoche first came to Malaysia, Rinpoche has managed to create Kechara, and eventually KWPC. Rinpoche’s tremendously beneficial works will benefit the sponsors who created the causes for these works to happen. That is karma. If we have any opportunity at all to support Rinpoche’s work, we should follow Mama Mooi Lan’s example and give as much as we can.

I remember many years ago, that is more than 10 years ago Mama Mooi Lan went to Ganden Monastery to visit Rinpoche for blessing as she was always sickly. Whew! Mama Mooi Lan is still striving on after that trip. What a blessing from Rinpoche.

  28. Wan Wai Meng on Sep 5, 2010 at 1:12 am

Rinpoche shows us many lessons and example of how he appreciates people who stuck with him through thick and thin. From the days when Rinpoche struggled in the early days there were many who helped rinpoche, and Rinpoche still to this day speak and is concerned about them. He never forgets their kindness and generosity ever.

  29. Anila on Aug 30, 2010 at 3:41 pm

Mama Mooi Lan is a wonderful person very soft spoken and gentle. She is what Rinpoche says she has been and still are. I met her on one of the early trips which I organise and brought her to visit Rinpoche in Ganden when Rinpoche returned from Malaysia. Three people from cheras Mama Mooi Lan, Mama Yong and Alfred. Mama Mooi Lan is the sister in law of Mama Yong. Unfortunately when mama mooi lan visited Tsem Ladrang Ganden. Rinpoche fell very sick and could not spend as much personal time with the Cheras Group. But all the same they were able to be in Rinpoche’s house when a lot of people would not been able to. Although mama mooi lan and Cheras group is from another Lineage they have never hesitated to help Rinpoche when Rinpoche came to Malaysia in 1992.

Mum always wanted to visit the Kechara Sunway outlet, since the day Rinpoche informed her about the outlet. But she has never had the chance cause all of us are working most of the time and she can’t really walk that much because of her illness. I finally brought her to the outlet on her birthday, to her, this is the best present for her on her birthday, fulfilling her promise of visiting the Sunway Kechara outlet. Rinpoche, i just want to let you know that mum always think of you and she miss you a lot. On the other hand, same to you, she can’t thank you enough of helping her through the tough time over the pass years. Mum always tell us how you’ve encouraged her when she’s lying in the hospital, that she will be fine and with your kind words she has the courage to live again. I can’t thank you enough for that.
Thanks Alvyn for sharing this wonderful page with me and i can’t wait till mum wakes up tomorrow and show her what Rinpoche has said about her. Rinpoche, thank you so much for having Mama Mooi Lan in your mind and likewise, Mama Mooi Lan miss you all the time as well, just like missing her own child. Hope you are always at the best of your health.

Aunty Mooi Lan is one kind soul for us to look up to – people like her, simply LIVE THE DHARMA…. i guess many people who can weave beautiful philosophy of Dharma may not even be so filled with KINDNESS like her; and truly, like what Rinpoche said, we must not forget the kind people in our life. Gratefulness in a person is a virtue makes the person great!

  33. Anila on Aug 25, 2010 at 6:19 pm

Mama Mooi Lan was one of the 1st people who had help Rinpoche when he arrived in Malaysia. Unfortunately we did not have KMP Div in the early years when Rinpoche came to Malaysdia to teach Manjushri and the story of Gelupa Lineage. The news Tsongkapa Box set wshich was churned out from KMP has complete information and HISTORY OF OUR LINEAGE THE GELUPA LINEAGE. this has help Rinpoche a lot by reducing his teachings so that he can concentrate on his projects in his other 13 Depts. Also KMP with the promotion of the Tsongkapa box set will also bring a lot of new members to Kechara whereby they can be come volunteers or sponsoors speeding the progress of Kechara Organisation.

These signs and marks are said to appear only on the body of someone who is exemplary because they denote the inner qualities of that person. Furthermore, it is also a sign that this person or being can leave imprints in the minds of others to achieve those very same qualities. When we study and understand the meaning behind these marks, we come to the realisation that they serve as reminders of the qualities that we should practise in our daily lives on our path to spiritual perfection. Not only do the Buddhas teach the Dharma verbally, but even their bodies are used as roadmaps to enlightenment itself.

Ucchusma is unique as she is the female form of Bhurkumkuta. The phenomenon of having male and female manifestations of the same Buddha is relatively rare. Her practice can be found in the Rinjung Gyatsa collection of sadhanas and she is particularly powerful and effective to purify defilements of the mind, deluded minds, negative thinking, broken promises and the resultant karma, illness, faulty memory, memory issues, body pollution and negative energy.

There are some information compile including some short practices for those who would like to learn more.

Each Dalai Lama is a unique individual, they have been philosophers, builders and even poets, and as each is revered as a Bodhisattva who possess great mystical powers and can incarnate life after life, every Dalai Lama has great potential to benefit many beings by disseminating Buddhism and safeguarding his fellow countrymen. This can be seen clearly as His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has been a charismatic global spiritual teacher whose teachings are timeless and translated into many languages.

However, not all is well in paradise. When each incarnation is recognised, the successor will inherit the position, fame, and estates of his predecessor. As such, as highlighted in Mike Dash’s article featured in smithsonian.com, the selection of the Dalai Lamas is never a straightforward and purely religious process. You will read about the politics and power struggles surrounding the selection process, insights into the tragic loss as the lives of the Dalai Lamas were cut short due to political intrigue, and most of all, the key events that shaped Tibetan history.

The article below by Kelli Bender, as featured in PEOPLE.com, is about courage. It tells a heart-warming story of a gutsy cow named Bonnie who managed to escape its doomed fate from a slaughterhouse and lived for eight months in the woods with a herd of deer before being rescued. Thus, proving to us that animals too have feelings, and if given a chance they would rather not be the object of human consumption. May the story of Bonnie’s bravery inspire many to develop love and respect for animals. We must stop hurting them, using them and eating them. I am grateful to the people at Farm Sanctuary for rescuing Bonnie and I hope more people will support them in their compassionate works. Please visit their website.

This child is extraordinary, at such a young age, he can play guitar so well. There is no other explanation except he must have brought the talent from his previous lives. This is what we call ‘imprint’ in Buddhism.

All the material things that we possess, we cannot bring them with us to our next life. Whether we are a billionaire or someone who is broke, there is nothing physical we can bring along with us when we die. What we bring along with us when we die is our karma, our habituation and our personality.

Thank you Rinpoche and the blog team for sharing this blog post. It is an interesting blog post that reveals to us the true identity of Dorje Shugden. Dorje Shugden is a fully enlightened Buddha which means he is above all the gods. The gods will pay respect to him when they meet him to gain his blessings.

This is one of the evidence of Dorje Shugden being enlightened in nature. Since all of us can’t see the true nature of the being, it is best for us to refer to incidents like this. From the video, we can see clearly that the gods paid respect to Dorje Shugden when they pass by the altar.

Gods are sentient beings too and they will too die when their karma comes. They also need blessings from Dorje Shugden to plant imprints in them so that they eventually they can become enlightened.

If you have a house with a big glass window or doors and you have some plants in your house, this might happen to you, birds keep hitting on the glass. This is not uncommon. Birds cannot see glass, especially if it is reflecting the nearby habitat or sky, or simply the plants inside the house. They think the reflection is real and so they fly towards it. There are ways to prevent birds from flying into the glass, read this article to find out more.

The Reasons Birds Hit Windows and How to Prevent It

Thump! That sickening sound can only mean another bird has flown into one of your windows. Birds cannot see glass, especially if it is reflecting the nearby habitat or sky. These reflections do not register as such to a bird. This is why millions of birds die or are injured each year in collisions with glass windows in homes and office buildings.

Here are some suggested options for making your windows less deadly for the birds. Please note, the only way to truly prevent birds from hitting your windows is to create a physical barrier (such as a screen or crop netting) between the birds and the glass surface. Other strategies and products can only visually deter birds from flying into the glass surface.

Out of their immense kindness and compassion for sentient beings, the enlightened beings or Buddhas manifest various forms. These varying forms help sentient beings in different ways. Though all Buddhas can lead beings to complete enlightenment, each form of a Buddha has a unique benefit and function. A well-known example would be Chenrezig, who is known to help practitioners develop compassion. Manjushri on the other hand helps practitioners develop wisdom. Both are fully enlightened beings and can lead practitioners to enlightenment, but the main benefit of their practice differs. Therefore, Buddhas manifest in countless forms to aid beings on their spiritual path in different ways.

One rare Buddha is the deity Vajraraksha whose name means “Adamantine Protection”. He manifested in a one of a kind form and is distinguishable from other Buddhas due to his unique iconography. Vajraraksha is also a very efficacious Buddha and can definitely aid you on your own spiritual path. You can read more about this fascinating deity below.

How big are we in this universe? Compared to the sun, planet earth is relatively small. However, when compared to other planets, the sun becomes so small. Our existence is very tiny if you look at how small planet earth is. Therefore, learn to let go and don’t be so hang up.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

Find one of the most beautiful temples in the world in Nara, Japan. It is the 1,267 year old Todai-ji temple that houses a 15 meter Buddha Vairocana statue who is a cosmic and timeless Buddha. Emperor Shomu who sponsored this beautiful temple eventually abdicated and ordained as a Buddhist monk. Very interesting history and story. One of the places everyone should visit- https://bit.ly/2VgsHhK

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the #Wesak Festival at Kechara Forest Retreat and enjoy a moment of quiet contemplation in the mantra recitation room. This year's goal is to accumulate 100,000 Shakyamuni mantras collectively. You can even start chanting today and add your mantras to the group total at the recitation counter on Wesak Day itself. All you need to do is chant at least one mala of TAYATHA OM MUNI MUNI MAHA MUNI SHAKYAMUNI YE SOHA every day from today till Wesak. Powerful collective energy is generated from group mantra chanting. So don't miss this spiritual experience, come take part in the mantra recitation!
