Jean Ai Goes to Kechara Oasis @ Viva Home
Earlier I sent some of my students to go and film Kechara Oasis Viva Home. I wanted to do this to promote KOVH, and I will shoot more videos like this in the future to promote the departments because my liaisons and students and friends work very hard to make our departments a success.
When you walk into a nice restaurant or a nice outlet, or you walk past a roadshow, you see that it is very beautiful and well laid-out, and organised. But what you don’t see is the hundreds of hours of work that go on behind the scenes. All the painting and building and lifting heavy boxes, cleaning and laying things out nicely and decorating – all that is also what makes the place very beautiful.
Like KO Viva Home, it is run by a lady called Ms Irene Lim who has been my student for 19 years now. Irene is very loyal, very dedicated and whatever she says, she does. I like people like that. Sometimes Irene can be a bit forceful so I tease her and call her a bulldozer but I’m just joking with her. She gets the job done and I appreciate that kind of integrity.
I heard that Irene traveled back and forth from Malaysia to China to find all the things she needed for her restaurant. Even for her lights and light fixtures took her a long time to find, because she wanted to make it just right. She is very particular about these types of things because she knows that Kechara Oasis is a method for us to spread the Dharma. When people step in, they see a restaurant but also all the Buddhas images plants seeds of enlightenment in their mind. And when they choose to eat vegetarian food, and not eat meat, then they are also creating the good karma of not killing a living being.
Anyway, KO Viva Home is our second vegetarian fine dining restaurant. The first is in Jaya One and it was opened in 2009, and was very popular so Irene decided to open a second location. She was so successful and her concept was so unique that a few malls approached her because there is no other fine dining vegetarian restaurant in Malaysia. So Irene looked carefully and she decided to go with Viva Home because it is a very big mall and it is located right next to an extremely busy road in Kuala Lumpur, one of the main roads going through our capital city.
I am very proud of Irene and how long she has come since the day I first met her. Irene is one of the first students I met when I came to Malaysia, and she helped me to stay here and I wish to celebrate her and her success. Please go to Kechara Oasis and also use the services from our departments and support our people because they work very hard to spread the Dharma, and they work hard to make their departments a success. We should always promote Kechara so others will be touched by Lama Tsongkhapa’s tradition.
I thank Jean Ai and friends who went to film this clip and explanation at my request so I can blog. Thanks everyone.

The outside of the restaurant, very classy and elegant
Different areas of the restaurant have a theme. This one is Japanese so it has tatami-style seating. But it also has a wooden engraving of Tara which is very nice too
This is the main dining area of the restaurant, where wedding and parties and other big events will also be held
Another view of the main dining area which they are preparing for a wedding.
This is one of the private dining areas, good for family get-togethers and business meetings
Kechara Oasis does a wide range of vegetarian food, like Western, Thai and Vietnamese. This one is a fusion dish, green curry spaghetti
This is one of KO’s most popular dishes, butter mushrooms
Another one of KO’s most popular dishes, vegetable curry. I really like this because it’s light and healthy, and has a lot of different vegetables inside
An interesting dish, avocado mousse with pistachios. They use real avocados inside. The ingredients that KO uses are always high quality and fresh

Congratulations to Aunty Irene as she made such a wonderful place manifest. She is a very hardworking lady. She is very helpful and she is always smiling 🙂
I find those qualities very good and she is a great example on being successful by applying effort.
