I have watched this many times now and it has never failed to crack me up. David’s talent should have it’s own show!

  4. Edward ooi on Aug 29, 2013 at 8:50 pm

Dear Rinpoche, David has always been a great entertainer to me. He is always helpful and the one that bring funny jokes. And of course I love his jokes. Sometimes when I feel too bored I will also talk to myself but not in this way. it’s just imagination, I will kept on talking to myself about everything until when my mom says: Edward, why are you talking to yourself? Haha

  5. Sharon Ong on Apr 16, 2013 at 6:21 pm

That was soooo super hilarious! You have one talented tummy! Ok, you are BOTH equally talented. 🙂 Love, love this skit.

  6. Joy on Mar 19, 2013 at 4:00 pm

Oh my gawwwwwdddddd… this is super super hilarious! David you really know what you can do if all else fails! Gosh this just made my day! David yes I am sure you can soon start hosting your own talk show with your stomach… something which the market have never seen before!!! No but seriously kudos to you David for being a good sport… and for making people laugh… I am sure somewhere you gain some merits for making our Guru and the world laugh – you are a “star” x

  7. edward ooi on Feb 13, 2013 at 1:32 pm

This is very funny. But when I was about 5 to 10 years old, whenever I watched television I will also talk to a imaginary friend. It feels like I actually talking with someone when I am just talking with myself. And its really fun to play with your imagination.

  8. Jean Mei on Jan 31, 2013 at 6:21 pm

Hahahaha I just rewatched this video… and I’m not surprised that this post has one of the most comments!

I’m not too sure whether David turned out so… different… coz he was brought up a single child, or whether it’s an innate characteristic of David haha.

Irene, his stomach is bigger now. MORE IMPACT. I await Part 2… hehehehehe x

  9. Lucas Roth on Oct 30, 2012 at 3:34 pm

hahahahaha!!!!!! this is so funny i almost couldn’t breath because i was laughing. this really made my day. 🙂

  10. Sean Wang on Jun 30, 2012 at 9:40 pm

David is really good at comedy. He should learn ventriloquism. He is already quite good at having a multiple personality when speaking to his stomach. Mr. Stomach should have a performance on a stage to raise funds for KMP. Many people would want to watch.

  11. Wan Wai Meng on Jun 27, 2012 at 4:31 am

David is so natural in front of the camera hope he develops it much further!

  35. pastor ngeow on May 1, 2012 at 12:49 pm

Hilarious ! Years back , I hv seen a ‘ pro ‘ version by comedians where they paint their torso with eyes and nose to make it really like a face talking.
Fun way to give yr stomach a good massage too. Thanks for putting smiles on everyone’s face with yr stomach which is usually hidden and not doing much to benefit others.

  36. Sock Wan on May 1, 2012 at 10:54 am

This is super funny. I was laughing so much, it’s definitely better than the “Annoying Orange”.

  37. Pastor Yek Yee on May 1, 2012 at 10:36 am

  41. Chandra on Apr 30, 2012 at 11:08 pm

I cant hear what you’re saying David but the muted video made me go, ‘What an idiot'(sorry). Who’s the joke on, hey? And silentlaughs going OMG that is so weird. LOL. The navel’s the mouth…lolled

  42. Su Ming on Apr 30, 2012 at 10:54 pm

    David is so funny.

I was fortunate to be in the room yesterday. Besides this, Rinpoche gave David beautiful advice on how to move forward with results and to be a successful in his dharma work, And at the end he will achieve happiness.

This is what Rinpoche does tirelessly to most of his students. Some listen and follow through. From there, you will see the results. Some don’t and it is sad.

  43. mayy on Apr 30, 2012 at 10:19 pm

LOL! David, you can be a comedian too. Next time, when opportunity knocks perform for “fun” and “fund” raising projects! Hmmmm, why not?

  44. Ethan Chu on Apr 30, 2012 at 7:10 pm

I have the greatest honour to witness David’s performance and talents. Having getting front row seat, I tried so hard not to laugh as I was afraid my laughter would be recorded and distract the recording. So what happened to the front vow VIP guests.. they were holding their laughter so hard and tears were flowing down from our eyes. David is hilarious!

I did not know he had Mr.Stomach with him as a friend since childhood days… It was like discovering Mr.Hanky from South Park in David! David is super duper funny and a great brother to hang out with. This is just the beginning people, haha… you have no idea what other talents David might have… hehe

  45. jennifer on Apr 30, 2012 at 6:10 pm

David , you are absolutely , totally and delightfully hilarious ! I couldn’t stop laughing ! Really cute but i do worry about you though 🙂

  46. nsa on Apr 30, 2012 at 5:06 pm

  49. bengkooi on Apr 30, 2012 at 4:27 pm

very very funny. I also appreciate david being a very good sport to do this and have it go public for the whole world to see. I can literally see you letting go of your ego and embarrassment as the video progresses. Inspiring.

  50. Victor Phang on Apr 30, 2012 at 3:28 pm

oh my god!!! what are you doing, David?? Beyond my expectation and it really surprise me. hahaha! Seriously and sincerely I’m offering myself to be your alternative “stomach” whenever you need someone to talk to… Please don’t talk to your stomach anymore. It is scary. hahaha!

  56. Carmen Koo on Apr 30, 2012 at 1:11 pm

OMG!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA DAVID LAI!!!!!!! Are you serious you used to do that when you were a bored kid? You are….special..hehe. Do you still do it when you’re bored coz that seems quite rehearsed to me baby! lol. Thank you for making my Monday! It was epic. I would totally have frozen infront of the camera, but you my friend made it work well. Nothing held you back, it was so natural!! 🙂

  57. Paris on Apr 30, 2012 at 12:53 pm

OMG this is tooooo funny. I’m in a place where I can’t laugh too loudly right now so I’m about to suffocate from trying not to laugh… OMG SO SO SO FUNNY. David really does have INTERESTING stories doesn’t he…. His mother told us that he had tried to be superman once (they had bought him a costume). He asked his mother to find him a very long, strong elastic band to tie him up and hang him down the stairs so he could “fly”. I guess he was smart enough to have anticipated the dangers of just jumping down the stairs and thought of safety precautions, even at age 7!

This is going all over Facebook. We’ll make it viral, David. There’s been nothing like this, ever.

  58. Paul paul on Apr 30, 2012 at 12:23 pm

haha!!! David sure got lots of hidden talent to cheer up our day!!! 😉 thank you munster David

  59. ericchoong on Apr 30, 2012 at 12:06 pm

    哈哈哈哈。。。。David 太多才华了,这个特别才华还可以搬上舞台表演呢!

    Thanks for this….

  61. Elena on Apr 30, 2012 at 11:22 am

Omg this is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long long time, and David is such a good sport to do this, and to bare his stomach hahaha over the years, he’s done so many odd things like catwalk down Bangsar or dance on the spot, and made a lot of us laugh. Maybe his talent is in comedy!

Anything else to share with us David, about your childhood? Hahaha your next book should be reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal interesting!

  62. Jean Mei on Apr 30, 2012 at 11:22 am

The Buddha Shakyamuni and Bodhisattva Manjushri worked closely to expound the Dharma, although Manjushri himself had achieved enlightenment many lifetimes ago. According to the Avatamsaka Sutra, Manjushri is actually the Buddha Nageshvaraja who achieved enlightenment many eons ago in a different world system. In Shakyamuni’s time however, he took the form of Manjushri, a student of Lord Buddha himself. Indeed, many teachings arose just because Manjushri asked a question to Buddha Shakyamuni.

Manjushri is the embodiment of wisdom and knowledge, and this Namasanghiti text that recalls his names and qualities represents the pinnacle of all Shakyamuni Buddha’s teachings. Scholars classify it as a tantra of the non-dual (advaya) class, along with the Kalachakra Tantra.

The Namasanghiti was expounded by Shakyamuni Buddha for his disciple Vajrapani and his wrathful retinue in order to lead them to Buddhahood. The essence of the Namasanghiti text is that Manjushri Bodhisattva is the embodiment of all knowledge. The Namasanghiti is a short text, consisting only of around 160 verses and a prose section, which is a fraction of the vast Sutras such as Avatamsaka Sutra and Prajnaparamita Sutras, or the endless ocean of tantras such as Manjushri-Mula-Kalpa.

Mekong River is incredibly important for millions of people in China. It flows through many countries: China, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and finally Vietnam. But weird and it is shocking to know the dogs cruelty, smuggling and trading just for the meat across Asia, through the famous river, What a cruel business. Need to be aware of visiting all this countries.

The veneration of relics is an ancient custom that plays an important role in major world religions such as Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, and Shamanism. For example, sites that house holy relics in Christianity are major pilgrimage destinations because it is believed that these relics are a benediction to the living and the deceased.

In Buddhism, holy relics generally refer to the physical remains or personal effects of Buddha Shakyamuni. Incredibly, some of Buddha Shakyamuni’s bodily remains have survived for two and a half millennia, including the much-revered sacred tooth of the Buddha in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

Most Buddhist temples have stupas, and these stupas are often created specifically to house precious relics. Such reliquary stupas often become the initial structure around which the whole temple is later based. Today, stupas may also hold the ashes or ringsel (relics in Tibetan) of prominent or respected Buddhist masters.

Towering imposingly and majestically in the sky, mountains are believed to possess supernatural properties because they are closer to heaven than any other earthly feature. Interestingly, many mountains are linked to spirituality and enlightened beings, such as the Buddha and Jesus.

From the earliest times, many peoples from the Greeks and Native Americans to the Indians and Polynesians have placed mountains central to their beliefs. The power of such sacred places is believed to enhance the mortal experience and sometimes, it is even forbidden to climb them out of respect.

The mountain calls to us with its calm and serene environment and is often chosen as the site for religious retreats. Pilgrimages to holy mountains are also a way to connect to the sacred and they allow us to purify our sins through the rigour of an arduous climb. In some religions, adherents are urged to make such a pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime.

Here is a selection of sacred mountains scattered across the globe. They are revered by people separated by vast spaces but united in their awe and regard for these magnificent giants of nature.

Labrang Monastery in Xiahe County, northwest China’s Gansu Province, is an annual destination for tourists, Buddhists and pilgrims from around the world. They gather to witness the unveiling of the world’s largest thangka (tapestry) of Buddha, as part of the Grand Monlam Prayer festivities.

Also called the “Sunning of the Buddha” ritual, at this time, Tibetan monks invite a giant thangka about 100-feet long and 65-feet wide of Buddha Amitabha, up a mountain near Labrang Monastery, which is the largest Tibetan monastery outside of Lhasa.

It is unveiled at first light on the side of the mountain so that the first rays of the sun illuminate the sacred painting.

This is not the only story about how Rinpoche helped others. I remember reading an article about Rinpoche buying lottery tickets from a woman in Thailand so she could end her day earlier with the income she needs for the family. Rinpoche always walked the talks, he didn’t just preach but he showed us how to put his teachings in practice. Never be afraid to be kind and nice to others, and when we are kind to others, it should not be with the intention to get something back from them. Be kind and be generous always, this is how we can make our planet a better living space.

If we want to go on holidays, it is better to go to holy places. Even if such places are not sophisticated, they benefit us spiritually; we can take a break and collect merit, plant Dharma seeds and be blessed. This is a good way of combining the pleasure of holidays with the spirituality of collecting merit.

Never get tired of collecting merit because it offsets negative karma that leads to suffering. People without Dharma will not know this so for them, a holiday is a holiday. They do not know that their holidays will bring no long-term benefit. With Dharma, we are wiser.

We should go on pilgrimage to places where holy beings are known to reside or where great practitioners have engaged in profound practices. These places are vortexes of energy – an area where concentrated energy naturally converges on the planet’s surface.

Mainland Thai culture is heavily influenced by Buddhism. However, unlike most other Buddhist countries of East Asia, Thai Buddhists follow the Theravada school of Buddhism. Thai temples, known as wats, are usually adorned with lavish gold ornaments, and are easily identifiable by their multi-coloured pointed roofs. Pre-Buddhist traditions have been infused with the values of Buddhism, making Thailand a cultural powerhouse.

According to Buddhist history, the first recorded use of incense occurred during Buddha Shakyamuni’s time, when a woman named Magadha Sangmo offered incense and prayers to request the Buddha to come forth and visit her village. Magadha Sangmo was the daughter of the Buddha main patron, Suddatta. She mirrored her father’s immense faith in Buddha Shakyamuni and was his ardent devotee.

After marrying and moving to a village where Buddhism was not practised, she wished very much to meet her guru, the Buddha, again. So one day, she climbed to the roof of her in-law’s house, offered incense and sincerely prayed for the Buddha to visit her. Hearing her prayers, Buddha Shakyamuni, together with his entourage, descended from the sky to fulfil her request. It is said that upon meeting the Buddha and hearing his teachings, the entire village became Buddhists. In this way, Magadha Sangmo’s heartfelt request to the Buddha also benefited those around her and succeeding generations.

Magadha Sangmo recited the following verse while engaged in prayer to the Buddha:

MA LU SEM CHEN KUN GYI GON GYUR CHING
DU TE PUNG CHAY MI ZAY JOM DZAY LHA
NGO NAM MA LU YANG DA KYEN GYUR PAY
CHOM DEN KOR CHAY NAY DIR SHEG SU SOL

Protector of all beings without exception,
Divine subduer of innumerable negative forces,
Deity, perfect knower of all things,
Bhagawan and attendants, please come here.

Malaysia’s rich cultural diversity is reflected in the country’s packed calendar of events and festivals. Most of these celebrations have religious or cultural origins and many are also designated as either state or national holidays.

Celebrated by everyone in the country, the colourful festivities which observe the ethnic traditions and beliefs of the varied backgrounds of the population are what gives Malaysia the label of “Truly Asia” that it is so well known for.

The national events and festivals of Malaysia are occasions for family reunions and for joyful community get-togethers. They are world-class examples of how diversity can be inclusive and celebrated.

Many of these days of observation follow the lunar calendar, thus the dates they fall on vary from year to year.

Before our globalised world of jet-setting travel, cosmopolitan cities and urban migration, the entire region of the Malay archipelago was, for more than 600 years, an international destination for Arab, Indian and Chinese maritime traders and European explorers who, through the centuries, settled down for trade or for love in these parts, thus creating cosmopolitan communities.

A true melting pot, Malaysia is one of those rare places in the world where people of different ethnic origins, cultures, traditions and religious beliefs have infused harmoniously to form a distinct multicultural society.

This country’s rich heritage includes hundreds-of-years-old temples, churches and mosques — some of these located within doors of each other, others having in one place shrines dedicated to deities of different faiths or denominations. All of them have played a key role (and still do!) in shaping the nation by being centres for the community to convene and connect spiritually.

Thank you for sharing this story with us Pastor Niral. It is a very warm story that fills my heart with joy and warmth. Rinpoche had always taught us to focus out and take care of the people around us and this will bring us great joy. Our little actions will have an unimaginable impact on those people who are in need of warmth.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

Trijang Rinpoche never gave up his devotion to Dorje Shugden no matter how much Tibetan government in exile pressured him to give up. He stayed loyal inspiring so many of us.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
