For the next two days, Kechara is holding the 2012 Grand Festival of Wealth and Protection (GFWP)! It commenced yesterday on January 6, 2012 (Friday). Last year’s Grand Setrap and Dzambala Puja was such a successful event, that the committee had to move this year’s event to the heart of KL’s city centre at Chin Woo Stadium!
GFWP started at 9:30am and many people showed up for the opening. Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek kindly came to officiate the opening ceremony and also in attendance were Tan Sri Dato Wira Jason Goh, Datuk Dr Lim Chee Sin, YB Khoo Soo Seang, YB Lim Kee Moi, Dato’ Ngeow Voon Yean and his wife, Datin Ngeow.
The Grand Festival of Wealth and Protection is being held for the next two days from 9:30 am to 9:30 pm. I have copied and pasted the programme highlights extracted from Kechara.com below.
Do take a look at the photos that were taken today. Admission is free for all who are interested to join in the fun!
I thank our special VIP guests for attending the event. I thank the committee and volunteers. I thank the members and all those who worked hard for weeks to make this so beautiful and special. But it is not over, so go and check it out!

What a delightful blogpost down memory lane! Although I’ve not known Kechara at that time, from looking from these pictures, I’m sure it has benefitted many. It’s a way to promote Kechara too. Hooray to many who have put effort in this.
This is certainly a blast from the past, hope we can do such spiritual festivals again in the future, many people came to meet Kechara and Tsem Rinpoche for the very first time in their lives. It was a beneficial event to reach out to Malaysians.
Thank you for sharing this article. From this article, I can have a glimpse of flashback into Kechara’s History and glory. It is very exciting to know that we did big events in such scale in 2012. If only I had knew back then, I would had joined the exciting experience.
From the pictures, I had recognized some of the members who are still with Kechara and how they had looked different. Impermanence is around us everyday and yet we still failed to recognized it. Our ego is so huge that it completely blocks out the truth and keep us in the pink dream of “Me Me Me and I will live forever”. We have to live in present and not future tense anymore.
Really a lot of work went into the planning and execution of this event and Liaison Paul worked non stop to make it happen for all Kecharians and all departments. Events to the public are always great learning experiences to see how well we cater and serve the public so experiences gain through GFWP is invaluable to know what the public wants.
What a fantastic event for Kechara to hold every year! It gives so many people a chance to meet the Buddhadharma. They come for blessings of wealth and protection, but realise there is something more so they stay back.
Congratulations to the fantastic organising team especially Paul. Every year he works so hard to make the event bigger and better. His drive to bring the Dharma to others really embodies what Rinpoche and Kechara are really about.
Every year, the committee of Grand Festival of Wealth and Protection always bring surprise to us. This year the committee decided to bring this grand festival to the heart of KL, where will be much more convenience for the public to touch by the blessing of 3 jewels.
Even-though the title for this event called WEALTH AND PROTECTION FESTIVAL, but what people can get from here is much more than that. Whoever came in to our event, or just a a glance on our flyer will plant a seed/imprint of Buddha enlighten mind in them. For whoever make any offering, even speech offering like : “WAH, this Buddha look gorgeous” will collect a lot of merit, that can bring all of us to the true freedom one day in the future.
I thanks all the committee members to always bring benefits to others.
The 2012 Kechara Grand Festival of Wealth & Protection event had just over. Many of our volunteers still very excited and talked about this event.I heard from many new volunteers, they learnt a lot from this grand event. Some of them told me, they more understand what Rinpoche direction and how can Kechara benefit many.
Rinpoche always advised us learn more Dharma knowledge and then applied in daily life. I think involve in dharma activities is a good way let’s ourselves realize how much we had learn and understand. Some of them even told me they want to do more!
Thanks for the sharing of the event Rinpoche. I am not able to be there, and the pics are always better than a thousand word. I can felt the tremendous hardwork and time put in ny the Kecharian to make this a sucessful event.
Yes Margaret, Paul and the committee member had been working very hard daily to organize the whole events. Everyone enjoy the events so much. Not only for new visitors to know about Kechara, but for all Kecharian to know, gather, bonding with each other during the 3 days event. It is really a “One Kechara” event.
So nice to see our own Kecharian conducting traditional puja according to our lineage with ritual, set up, Mudra, chanting…
Just like what Datuk May mentioned during the last day of the event, since we can organize this why not Tsongkhapa Day? Looking forward to Wesak and Tsongkhapa Day at the end of the year.
Can’t believe the GFWP is over. The past few days have gone by so fast, packing, setting up, meeting so many people at the event and then the tornedo speed tear down……..all at the blink of an eye.
Everyone worked so hard, we had lots of fun while spreading Lord Setrap and Dzambala to the public. The kecharians got closer together.
Thank you Paul for your leadership, his left hand man Nicholas and the organising committee who have been working tirelessly for the event.
May the merits we Kecharians created be dedicated to the swift manifestation of KWPC!
i have been a very useful and a useless person at the same time. Useful as in i am good at ordering people around and using people to achieve goals. Useless as I do not do for others. After involving in GFWP, i feel I am well used; bringing benefits to others. The experience is an eye opener and absolutely uplifting. Tiring but loving every moment of it!
Looks really grand and beautiful, as is the Kechara trademark. And all for a good purpose and to bless so many. Everything Kechara touches is of the finest quality and with great motivation and purpose. Heartfelt Congratulations go to Kechara and especially the Organizing Committee. And wow, see how Kechara has grown so big.

KECHARA FOREST RETREAT PROGRESS UPDATES
Here is the latest news and pictorial updates, as it happens, of our upcoming forest retreat project.
The Kechara Forest Retreat is a unique holistic retreat centre focused on the total wellness of body, mind and spirit. This is a place where families and individuals will find peace, nourishment and inspiration in a natural forest environment. At Kechara Forest Retreat, we are committed to give back to society through instilling the next generation with universal positive values such as kindness and compassion.
Very fortunate for me and friends to have visited these four most worthy pilgrimage sites as mentioned in this blog post. Lumbini where the birthplace of Prince Siddharta Gautama later known as Buddha Shakyamuni, Bodh Gaya the place where Prince Siddharta Gautama reached enlightenment, Sarnath the place where Buddha Shakyamuni turned the Wheel of Dharma for the first time and finally Kushinagar the place where Buddha Shakyamuni entered Parinirvana. So blessed managed to visit all these Holy places just before the lockdown because of the covid pandemic.
Thank you Rinpoche and Novka Kuaranita for this interesting sharing, so as more people be inspired to go.
In the eyes of many people, giving doesn’t count unless it’s completely selfless. In reality, though, giving isn’t sustainable when it’s completely selfless. Tsem Rnpoche is one truly Lama who gives silently without hope of praise and reward. Rinpoche gives selflessly to awaken the sleeping humanity in one’s heart. Spreading love and caring everywhere as Rinpoche goes had inspired many of us. There is nothing more beautiful things we can do. If we ever had the chance of making a big impact on the life of someone else, we know how wonderful it can feel to help someone.
A beautiful story of a selfless Lama who have a heart of gold.
Thank you Rinpoche and Anila for this sharing.
Rinpoche read all notes, letters, and cards that was sent to his labrang. It never comes to my mind at all whether or not our guru Tsem Rinpoche saw, ate, or liked our offerings. All I know that Rinpoche knew for sure what we are doing. I am one of the many that Rinpoche had gave me gifts through all these years. Feeling happy and blessed with what I received. Thank you Rinpoche with folded hands. May Rinpoche have a swift return.
Thank you Anila for this wonderful sharing for many of us to have a better insight understanding of a great Lama.
Reading this article reminds me of my trip there in 2019 just before the lock down. I am glad I made it there as encouraged by our Guru Tsem Rinpoche to go on pilgrimage to Holy places instead of visiting places of interest. It’s a once a life time experienced for me. Went on pilgrimage to Tibet in 2019 and to Sera Choding Hermitage of Lama Tsongkhapa and few other Holy places as well. Sera Choding Hermitage was also the founder of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. It was one of Tsongkhapa’s principal retreat centers, where he gave many of his most important teachings and where he composed one of his most famous works.
Fortunate to go to Kushinagar where Buddha Shakyamuni entered Clear Light , and seeing the Ramabhar Stupa, where the cremation place of Buddha Shakyamuni, and a colossal statue of Lord Buddha at the Matha Kuar feeling blessed indeed. Another holy place as mentioned in the blog is Wu Tai Shan. It is a popular pilgrimage as well. Mount Wutai with its five flat peaks is one of the four sacred Buddhist mountains in China. This Holy place is associated with the rising sun which signifies birth and renewal. Due to this interpretation, it is often regarded as the most sacred of the Five Great Mountains. Went there too much earlier with Kecharians friends. Minhitale Buddha Statue in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, another Holy place. Historically recorded as the birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Anuradhapura was also the center of Theravada Buddhism for many centuries and has been a major Buddhist pilgrimage site with ruins of many ancient Buddhist temples. A place worth going but I have not visited yet which I love to go some day.
Thank you Rinpoche for this wonderful sharing.
A strong inspiring story that will touch our heart and soul. Reading and watching those videos in this blog post will definitely inspire and motivate us all. Bill Porter was an American having spent much of his life studying and translating Chinese religious and philosophical texts. He is a translator of Chinese texts, primarily Taoist and Buddhist, including poetry and sūtras. Bill Porter stepped into the ancient Chinese literary world, which changed everything. To many Chinese, he is known as Red Pine and the author of popular books on Chinese hermits and ancient poets. Many had wonder if the Buddhist hermit tradition still existed in China, not until Bill Porter discovered that the hermit tradition is very much alive. So many insights into life in China, and the Buddhist renewal after the cultural revolution the historical refuge of ancient hermits. Dozens of monks and nuns continue to lead solitary lives in quiet contemplation of their faith deep in the mountains. Inspiring each of them , living as simple as possible with what they have. That’s a beautiful understanding of Chinese culture, a rare happening , and should be cherished by all who love the Chinese classics .
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.
Wow this great Lama the third Purchok incarnation the Lozang Tsultrim Jampa Gyatso who had served as tutor to both the Twelfth and the Thirteenth Dalai Lamas . He studied under a number of great masters and became a competent scholar at a very young age. His collected works covering subjects such as commentary on logics, rituals, and biography were compiled into texts. Interesting read.
Thank you Rinpoche .
Dharma teaches us the ultimate method, the ultimate way of release from samsara. When you receive the Dharma teachings — when you receive the method and you practice it — you will be able to free yourself from sufferings.
Wow…beautiful scenery pictures . Each and every pictures has an interesting stories to tell. Looking through these in this blog tells us a thousands words , simply exquisite beautiful indeed. Tranquillity serenity and beauty of nature in every pictures .Natural beauty is everyone wish to be there.
Thank you Rinpoche for this great sharing.
The Colossus of Rhodes was a statue of the Greek sun-god Helios, erected in the city of Rhodes, on the Greek island. An interesting mythology behind this huge statue. It was built between the years 292-280 BCE, to honour the Ancient Greek god of the Sun, Helios recording to history. The people of the city of Rhodes in Greece were saved from a terrible siege and that’s where this statue was built. The Greek mythology was strongly influenced by the ancient Egyptian myths. Sound interesting. Rhodes has been famous since antiquity as the site of Colossus of Rhodes, and was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. This ancient town is a step back in time and is one of the biggest best-preserved Medieval settlements of Europe. It’s the oldest populated medieval city in Europe with some 5000 people living inside the castle walls. Worth a visit to see for ourselves the beauty of this ancient town with many myth stories .
Thank you Rinpoche and Gen. Lobsang Phuljung for this wonderful sharing.
Each of us have a dark story to tell from the past. Reading again this interesting short posts of personal experiences with HE the 25th Tsem Rinpoche by Gen. Lobsang Phuljung . Black magic spells for revenge are an advanced and destructive form of magic that can manipulate or hurt other people. Everybody has been in a scenario where vengeance appeared to be the perfect idea for resolving a conflict. Even if we employ these curses and spells for revenge we are the ones who gets hurt as well. Negatively impacts our physical health by raising our blood pressure, trigger defensiveness and it turns into a destructive force that can harm ourselves. Life can only be understood backwards but it must be lived forwards. May these life experience provide us the inspiration we need to go on in life while learning from it.
Thank you Gen. Lobsang Phuljung for sharing this untold story with us.
We should feel gratitude for all that was given to us. The highest giving would be dharma. From those who have given us dharma, we should show a humble and sincere attitude. Always remember their kindness by practicing and applying. Only with dharma can we find genuine lasting happiness. The person who gave us genuine happiness through teaching us dharma should be remembered, celebrated, respected and be shown gratitude always.
The Sangha has kept Buddhist texts safe over the centuries and has interpreted and taught Buddhist philosophy. The Sangha has also provided inspiration and guidance on how to live a good Buddhist life. Being one of the three jewels of Buddhism, Sangha is an integral part of this community. We turn to these three jewels when we need to feel safety .Sangha is an equally important part of Buddhism where they provides a harbour in time of distress, and at the time of distractions. They help each other to make the journey smooth and spread kindness to everyone around them. It is believed that while walking the path, they will helps everybody to visualize goals clearly and aids in understanding the meaning of life in a better way. Beautiful article by Thich Nhat Hanh explaining the essence of a sangha.
Thank you Rinpoche for this wonderful sharing
Yunnan is a province in southern China, bordering Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam as well China is a multi-religious country. Taoism, Buddhism, Islamism, Protestantism and Catholicism are the main stream religions in China. Reading this article again and again feeling glad as the practice of Dorje Shugden had spread to many more places. Showing that it is not a minor practice after-all. Its flourishing to the ten direction. Dorje Shugden stupa is located right in the middle of the beautiful and sacred snow-capped mountains. Yulong Snow Mountain is a famous scenic area in Yunnan, after all. Since then it had attracted many locals and tourist .Looking at those pictures tells all. I have visited Yulong Snow Mountain but not been to see that new monastery where the sacred stupa is built. Hopefully I could visit someday.

Hear the holy voice of Kyabje Zong Rinpoche giving advice on the practice of Dorje Shugden to those who had received the life-entrustment initiation. In Tibetan Buddhism, it is always said that whatever we practice must come from an enlightened source to be beneficial in our spiritual journey. As such in this video, Kyabje Zong Rinpoche shares with us the history and reincarnation lineage of Dorje Shugden to explain how great this Dharma protector is through the examples of his previous lives, showing us his powerful spiritual attainments. Dear everyone... This is a good condensed talk I gave on Guru Yoga of Tsongkapa. This is the one you should share with others when they are interested in a not too lengthy explanation. It is the perfect practice for everyone who wants simplicity yet effective blessings. You can share this with more people, it will be good.
"If you say you don't have money to help a animal shelter, why then do you have money to buy meat?"
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Eating animals is not our God-given right, but being kind to them is."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"What makes us good humans is not how we abuse animals, but how much we allow them to live and be happy freely."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"We need another and wiser and perhaps a more mythical concept of animals.... We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein we err, and greatly err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complex than ours they moved finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth."
~ Henry Beston, The Outermost House
"Not eating animals is only unnatural when we are not used to it."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES
"We may encounter defeat, but we must not be defeated."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"What you are today, is the choice you made yesterday."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"You think you can choose your life? What an ego trip!"
~ Lama Yeshe
"If TODAY you are dissatisfied, you must make the changes to create different results for TOMORROW."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
SPIRITUAL QUOTES
“Meditating on Dorje Shugden while reciting his mantra will open the gateways to higher dimensions, blessings and protection.”
~ Tsem Rinpoche
“If one does the recitation of the Lama Tsongkhapa guru yoga prayer for even one month using one of the visualizations for great or clear or quick wisdom, one will definitely see development of that wisdom. It is proved by experience. There is no doubt that by doing the Lama Tsongkhapa guru yoga practice one can meet Lama Tsongkhapa’s teachings from life to life. And furthermore, it gives one the opportunity to be born in the pure realm of Lama Tsongkhapa, Tushita, whenever death happens.”
~ Pabongkha Rinpoche
"I was 18 years old in 1983. That was a very special year as I met His Holiness Kyabje Zong Rinpoche and received innumerable precious teachings and empowerments from Him at Thubten Dhargye Ling Centre in Los Angeles, California. It was the best time of my life. A time that seems so magical and surreal to me. Kyabje Zong Rinpoche is Heruka Buddha and I met Heruka."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"If being me offends you, maybe I'm not the problem."

"Whether we do work and suffer but for others or we do work and suffer for ourselves, either way we have to suffer. That is the nature of samsara. So let us suffer for others and then suffering has meaning."

"Those who really want the dharma to grow within themselves and to grow for others should never fear hard work, timing, difficulties, struggles, disappointments because it is for a good cause. Working for Dharma is not a prison or work, but it is purely spiritual practice. It is purely collection of merit and purification. Actually not doing dharma work is the real prison."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"His Holiness Zong Rinpoche stressed the need to continue to practice even when we come up against obstacles, and that we should continually review our progress. He stated that a happy, luxurious life was like a good dream, and that obstacles and difficulties were like a bad dream. We should give them no significance, but simply carry on working towards real, everlasting happiness."

"You know since very young, for better or worse, I always did the things that others told me not to do. I wasn't really good at following the rules. Devotional Songs
Sung by Mary Fewel Tulin, these mystical songs in praise of the guru originate from the Sikh tradition. Yet, they are applicable to all traditions for those who want to venerate their guru.
The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them.
That's the business model.
How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying...
We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood.

WLY asked:• What is the process one goes through ti become a monk/nun in Shar Gaden?
• Deity practices for lessening lust?pastor answered:Dear WLY,
1. This depends on the individual's background and familiarity with Buddhism, Tibetan culture, etc. In Shar Gaden there is no standard process, it is based on the individual.
2. The majority of deities that deal with overcoming of lust specifically are the Highest Yoga Tantra deities. However, their practice require initiation and there many vows and commitments that you need to hold in order to engage in the practice. On a general level however, the practice of Wangze helps you to control your mind, include all disturbing emotions. If you have an overt issue with lust his practice can help you with controlling your lust so it doesn't effect you: https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/buddhas-dharma/dorje-shugden-wangze-for-power-and-influence.html This is in regards to deity practice. The actually method to overcome lust is contemplate death and impermanence. I hope this helps.

Kee asked:Sorry for this question- in Buddhism when women menstruate should we not go near altar or do our prayers? Why did people establish this rule in the past? pastor answered:Dear Kee,
There is a belief that when women menstruate they should not go near altars or prayers. However, Tsem Rinpoche explained that this only applies to certain chapels in temples, etc. If you are at a home and you have a normal altar to the Buddhas, meaning they are all enlightened deities, and not any unenlightened deities, then it is fine to go to the altar and do your daily prayers.
Due to the bodily cycle of a woman, the energies in their bodies are in a state of flux. Hence they can be negatively effected by the energies of certain unenlightened deities, so in certain temples and chapels to these deities, women who are menstruating should not go inside.
However, this only applies towards certain wrathful unenlightened deities. If you have a normal altar with the Buddhas then this is absolutely fine. Here in Kechara and on this website there are no such deities. I hope this answer helps. Thank you.
Kevin asked:Halo pastor, may i know if i need to renew the water offering the next day after doing one day of retreat or i just add few drops of water in the bowl? Do i need to renew the serkym every session in the day? And may i know where can i learn the mudras of offering in the torma offering part? Can i copy and change the protector and serkym part to dorje shugden in the prayer text for tsongkhapa retreat and print it out? (others remain the same). Thank you..pastor answered:Hi Kevin,
Thanks for your questions.
1. For water offerings, make them before the first retreat session of the day. During subsequent sessions, add a couple of drops to each bowl to "refresh" them for that particular session. At the end of the day, after you last session has finished, clear all the water and turn your bowls upside down. This is just like if you were clearing the water offerings from your altar normally. Then the next day, before you start your 1st session of the day, make new water offerings. So in short, you need to make new water offerings daily, and only add a couple of drops to the bowls if you are doing additional sessions in the day, then clear at the end of the day.
2. If you are doing the serkym prayer during every session, then you need to offer fresh serkym during each session. This is different from the water offerings, where you only to add a couple of drops of water for each session. The serkym should be made fresh every session that you do the prayer.
3. For the torma offering mudra, the simple version is to hold your hands next to each other with palms facing up, as if you are holding a plate from underneath. Your hands should be held at least above your heart level. When you you finish each torma offering mantra, click with your right hand, using your thumb and middle finger. Bring your hands back into the torma offering mudra and continue reciting. Again when you finish reciting the torma offering click your fingers using your right hand again.
4. Yes, you change the protector section of the retreat (including serkym) to the Dorje Shugden instead of the Setrap one. Everything else should remain exactly the same.
I hope this helps.
Rabten asked:Hello pastors!
I would like to ask about:
How to do tsa sur offering?
Thank you so much.
pastor answered:Hi Rabten,
Tsa Sur is a smoke offering to the Three Jewels as well as those who have recently passed on and are in the bardo states. Such bardo beings are at the mercy of their karma, so the smoke offering is said to nourish them and alleviate some of their karma so they can take a good rebirth and not suffer as much. It's a common practice among Tibetan Buddhists that this practice is performed during the 49 day period of a person's passing to aid them on their journey to their next rebirth.
The offering is made by burning various types of herb incense, tsampa (roasted barley flour), butter, and other ingredients. Other types of commonly available herb incense such as sandalwood, white sage, etc., can also be added to the mix before it is burned.
The ability to make such an offering does not actually come from the smoke itself, but the practitioners ability to generate themselves as Chenresig or another type of tantric deity, usually belonging to the Kriya Tantra classification. As such, this offering can only be performed by those with the appropriate initiation and practice conferred by a fully qualified tantric guru. Though there are many texts available nowadays, the method to actually make the offering should be taught directly from your guru, otherwise the offering won't actually be effective.
There are however, other types of smoke offerings that you can do. For example the smoke offering to Dorje Shugden, available here: https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/prayers-and-sadhanas/incense-offering-to-dorje-shugden.html If you would like to make prayers for someone who has passed on recently, you can do this sang offering to Dorje Shugden daily for 49 days, and request Dorje Shugden to help the deceased. This is actually very powerful in assisting them out of their current state of suffering as a bardo being, and leading them to take a fortunate rebirth. I hope this helps. Thank you.
Dal asked:- When is vesak?
- Mantra for lessening anger?
pastor answered:Dear Dal,
Wesak is on May 4th here in Malaysia. The day may vary according to region by 1-2 days depending on when your local Buddhist culture celebrates it.
You can use many mantras to lessen anger. One of the best is Chenrezig's Mantra: Om Mani Pete Hung. This mantra helps to develop compassion, which is the direct antidote to anger. You can also learn about overcoming anger in this meditation book: https://www.vajrasecrets.com/insightful-meditation
I hope this helps. Thanks.

Anon asked:Is euthanizing an animal cause bad karma? In urgent situatiins where the animal suffers so deeply that the owners want their pets to die painlessly, they resort to euthanizing their pets so they die and no longer experience certain pains.pastor answered:Dear Anon,
From a Buddhist perspective, euthanasia is still unfortunately considered to be an act of taking a life, so it is killing. There are definitely circumstances where for example a pet is in pain and the pet owners do resort to putting the pet down so they no longer experience pain. However, the Buddhist perspective spans many lifetimes, not just this one. If the karma that caused the pain that they are experiencing in this life were to be cut short because they were euthanised, then that karma would actually carry forward to their next lives. Karma also multiplies over time, so that negative karma would grow stronger and stronger. And they would need to suffer from that heavy negative karma in future lives. So therefore, practising Buddhists would try not to euthanise the animal and instead let that karma finish in this life, so that they do not have to experience such pain in future lives.
This is of course very hard to do, because we love our animals. However, the way we love them is only limited to this life. If we can learn to love them over a longer period of time, meaning by thinking about them not just in this life, but also future lifetimes, then we would want to let that karma finish as quickly as possible so that they do not suffer in the future.
This is hard to do since they are suffering right in front of us, but there are ways that we can help them. Engage in your daily sadhana, do pujas for them, make offerings for them. This generates merit for them and helps to purify that negative karma through the power of the enlightened beings - the Buddhas. Also recite mantras for them, give them blessed water, protector rice, blessed pills, etc. At the same time, do everything that you can do for your beloved pet in terms of medical treatment, and to make them as comfortable as possible as they are in pain. From a Buddhist perspective, this is actually how you love your pets and animals. I hope this helps answer your question.

Dear Rinpoche,
Thank you for sharing this article.
Humbly,
Chris
Fantastic!!!
