Dear friends around the world,

Here is some good news that will really make your day. This kind of news really inspires people, and gives us hope and strength. This man is really a role model for people all over the world. His actions show us a way of life that is more compassionate, peaceful, and harmonious. For years, I have been advocating about saving the lives of animals, through animal liberation activities in Kechara, as well as sharing posts on social media to create more awareness. Many have commented that the information I’ve posted has helped them to understand more about the suffering of the animals. Popular posts such as Earthlings, and Marc Ching Shows Us The Way have literally changed people’s lives for the better, making them more compassionate towards animals.

I’m glad to have come across this piece of news and I would like to thank Mr. Jay Wilde for his compassion and I thank him sincerely. It gives me great joy and satisfaction to know that more animals are free from their suffering. It is also heartening to know that more people are becoming aware of the harm we cause to fellow sentient beings and the environment because of our diet. Please read this short yet extremely inspiring news piece below.

Vegetarian beef farmer gives herd to animal sanctuary

England | June 13, 2017

01

Jay Wilde gave his herd to a sanctuary to spare them “a terrifying death” at the slaughterhouse

A vegetarian farmer has given his herd of cows to an animal sanctuary to protect them from the slaughterhouse.

Jay Wilde, 59, who farms in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, sent 63 cattle to a Norfolk rescue centre as he could no longer bear to send them to be killed.

Mr Wilde, a vegetarian for 25 years, grew up herding cows and took over the family farm when his father died.

“Cows have good memories and a range of emotions. They form relationships. I’ve even seen them cry,” he said.

“It was very difficult to do your best to look after them and then send them to the slaughterhouse for what must be a terrifying death.”

The Hillside Animal Sanctuary near Frettenham said 30 of the cows are pregnant and all the animals “would live out their lives essentially as pets”.

Founder, Wendy Valentine, said Mr Wilde is not the first farmer to have donated his herd.

She recalls a couple who “could not bear to continue dairy farming and kept their cows as pets with the help of the sanctuary”.

02

The cows are now being cared for by Hillside Animal Sanctuary in Norfolk which is fundraising for their keep

Mr Wilde, who switched from dairy farming to organic beef production on the death of his father in 2011, said he always wanted to give up animal production because he “couldn’t believe it was right to eat them”.

He believes dairy farming is particularly hard because calves and cows would often become distressed on separation.

“I’m relieved to have made the decision to no longer farm animals, something which I always found quite upsetting,” he said.

His brother-in-law told him he was “absolutely insane” to give away cattle which could fetch up to £40,000 at market.

He said “a lack of imagination” had previously stopped him switching to arable farming.

Mr Wilde will now be running a vegan organic market farm supplying garden produce without using animal products or fertilisers.

This article was truly amazing of Mr. Jay, switching his family oriented business, by putting his heart and soul successfully running a vegan organic market farm supplying garden produce.
May Mr Wilde inspired more people to give up animal farming as animal farming is harming to our environment and eating meat is not good for human health.Thank you very much for this good article.

Wow……. Jay Wilde a lifelong cattle farmer has given his entire herd of cows to an animal sanctuary. He could no longer bear to send them to the slaughter house. Taking those cattle to be slaughtered was such an ordeal for Jay Wilde that he took drastic action. He had been working on his father’s beef farm , and he disliked taking his cows to the slaughter house. He had raised these cows from birth, he felt as though he was betraying them when he took them to slaughterhouse. It is a terrifying experience for the animals, that’s where he decided to give up his herd to the sanctuary and taking up growing vegetables instead .
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

Mr. Wilde is a real hero! 63 cattle is not about how much it worth in pounds but it is 63 living beings that can’t speak for themselves. To Mr. Wilde the cows is his pets and it’s not no way to give away to slaughter-house. I truly admire Mr. Wilde for his compassion seeing the animals differently and will forgo money for the life of the animals. Mr Wilde has set a great example and I wish his vegan organic market farm success with his great compassionate true story to be told to encourage more people realize animals are just like us which needs care, respect and live in peace.

This fantastic and brave decision of Mr. Jay Wilde for turning his cow farm to arable farming. This article was truly amazing of Mr. Jay, switching his family oriented business, by putting his heart and soul successfully running a vegan organic market farm supplying garden produce without using animal products or fertilizers.

Its was very generous of Mr. Jay to donate all his herd of cows to an animal sanctuary to protect them from the slaughterhouse. An interesting sharing of saving animal and giving them hope.

Animals show love for humans! Cow, lions, apes, dogs, bears, parrots and more can all be very affectionate and show surprising emotions when it comes to expressing their love for people. An emotional animals hugging humans video.

It is rejoicing to know that a farmer is able to care for his animals and realized that they are sentient beings not to be eaten. That is absolutely amazing especially when farmers are more profit-oriented in today’s world. May Mr. Wilde reap the goodness of his kind actions. Thank you, Rinpoche for sharing with us the people who do care and it only takes one to be kind and generous and now the whole world knows and may emulate the same.

  7. Yee Yin on Oct 14, 2018 at 8:35 pm

Cows kept in the farms are for commercial purpose, they are kept for their milk and meat to be sold in the market for the farmers to make their livings. It is just normal when the cows have grown to a certain size, they will be sent to a slaughter house to be killed. Very few farmers will develop special bonding with the cows.

However in England, a vegetarian farmer called Mr. Jay Wilde has developed a special bonding with the cows he has kept in his farm. Mr. Jay Wilde has been a farmer for his whole life, until recently he could not bear to send his cows to the slaughter house to be killed anymore. He realised the cows also have feelings and emotions, it must be very terrifying for the cows to have their lives ended under the knife, in great fear.

I think being a vegetarian has somehow helped Mr. Jay Wilde developed compassion in him, for him to realise other living beings deserve to live just like us and should not be killed for our stomach. He has sent 63 of his cows to an animal sanctuary to be kept as pets instead. His brother-in-law said he is crazy not to sell the cows but the value of Mr Jay Wilde’s conscience is far more higher than the money he can get by selling the them.

Being a vegetarian and living as a farmer that need to send his cow to be killed, must be very difficult for Mr Wilde. Glad that now Mr Wilde has donated his herd to the sanctuary and start a vegan organice market farm. May Mr Wilde inspired more people to give up animal farming as animal farming is harming to our environment and eating meat is not good for human health. If the supply and demand of the meat market can be reduced, more life can be save.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing the story of Mr Wilde.

Animals also have feelings on pain and emotions. Mr Wilde knows that and he can’t bear to see animals distressed when send them to slaughterhouse. Mr Wilde will now be running a vegan organic market farm supplying garden produce without using animal products or fertilizers. What a compassionate man who has reduced suffering for these cows of his and more that may probably have to pass through his farm if he did not decide to stop. Thank you Rinpoche and blog team for writing this post about Mr Wilde. ?

I really like the shift that Mr. Wilde has done.
“Mr Wilde will now be running a vegan organic market farm supplying garden produce without using animal products or fertilisers.”

We know that animal products are not good for our health and many researchs have been done to prove this. I wish that more people see the suffering that animals have to go through and that what we do to the animals is absolutely cruel and no being deserves this.

    Thank you Mr. Wilde!

The few minutes a day we spend on social media creating awareness for animals who cannot speak is purely spiritual and humanistic practice because we are trying to alleviate pain from another sentient beings and that makes us more spiritual, and that makes us more spiritual and more humane.

Thank you for writing this post Rinpoche for writing this post about Jay Wilde. It is very sad to see animals such as cows to be sent to the slaughter house. But I am happy for the cows that are in Mr Wilde sanctuary that he made to save them. I am also very happy that he is a vegan and quit dairy to organic farming. And the fact that he is saving the animals, I think that he is an inspiration to us all.

Decision of Mr Wilde on switching from dairy farming to organic vege farming is really save many livestocks life. Animals also have feelings on pain and emotions. Wilde knows that and he can’t bear to see animals distressed when send them to slaughterhouse. As we know that the dairy farm was inherent from his dad so it is hard to make such decision to switch from dairy farm to organic vege farm. I really salute and respect Mr Wilde and he really set a good example to many dairy farm owner to switch their farm to vege farm without any killing on livestock.
Thanks Rinpoche share this article to create awareness to dairy farm owners.

It is so helpful that Mr Jay is showing the way, I think many people who work with animals need to open their minds and senses to how Animals can feel pain, suffering fear as these sentient beings. I look forward to more animal farmers not just thinking about money and think about how to make a living without hurting animals.

  17. Lin Mun on Jun 21, 2017 at 9:48 pm

This is a very inspiring story. A person out of his compassion has sent his 63 cattle to a rescue center in order not to kill them eventhough the cattle can fetch up to 40,000 pound sterling in the market. Rejoice that Jay has now convert his farm business into running a vegan organic market farm supplying garden produce without using animal products or fertilisers. His compassion, love and care for other sentient beings has reduced a lot of pain and suffering to animals. I hope he has great success in his organic business and to create more awareness for others to follow his footsteps.

Jay Wilde. a man who put his money where his mouth is, actually doing something that he believes in. As he himself is a vegan, he has decided to earn a right living by not living off the death of another being, in this case cows.

And, Mr Wilde will now be running a vegan organic market farm supplying garden produce without using animal products or fertilizers. What a compassionate man who has reduced suffering for these cows of his and more that may probably have to pass through his farm if he did not decide to stop.

Best wishes to him in his new venture.

Jay Wilde 59 Years old, a vegetarian for 25 years, grew up herding cows, which he took over the family farm when his father died. Cows have good memories and a range of emotions. They form relationships. I’ve seen them cry.” So feeling “regretful and guilty of the good thing that he did not do, Mr. Jay Wilde sent the last 63 of his batch of cattle to a Norfolk Rescue center as he could no longer bear to send them to be killed. His-brother-law told him he was “absolutely insane” to give away the cattle which could fetch up to sterling 40,000- at the market! Jay Wilde said that he now feels relieved that he no longer do farming of animals, which he always find mind “pricking” and upsetting! But, now running a vegan organic market farm and supplying garden produce without using animal products or fertilisers seem to bring a pleasurable feeling of peaceful contentment and happiness! Thank you so much for the sharing, Rinpoche! Om Mani Padme Hung.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article. Rejoice to Mr Wilde for his choice of sending his cows to the animal sanctuary as he no longer can take care of them himself. It is better to give them away to people who can care for the animals rather than killing or selling them to the meat seller. I also rejoice to Mr Wilde who will now be running a vegan organic market farm supplying garden produce without using animal products or fertilisers.

Thank you for this great news! Not only a herd of 30 cows are saved but the decision has also saved Mr Jay Wilde from relying on a job which contradicts from his belief, and making him lives an unhappy life. It sounds a big thing for him to give up the cows, but he is actually making a decision really good for his mental and physical health. He is inspiring as well to let people know, WE ALWAYS HAVE CHOICE in life. Killing another being to be served on our plate is not a must, not eating meat/drinking milk does not make our life miserable, or cause very much inconvenience; compares to the animals at the other end.

We are actually have choices, we are not stuck in life. It’s a matter of we want to make the decision, and opt for happiness (mentally and physically) or not. And whether we looking for quick fix or a long term solution or not.

Thank you Rinpoche for always shows the world the way, shows us we are not stuck, decision is in our hand.

I do agreed with Pastor Han Nee on this, being a vegetarian for 25 years had transformed his mindset and perception of animals.
So happy to read that. Mr Jay Wilde have sent 63 herd of cattle to animal care santuary.
From cattle farming to vegan organic market. He is so compassionate and doing a right move without being selfish.

    Thanks Rinpoche for sharing

Amazing but true! Jay Wilde, a vegetarian beef farmer , gave his herd of 63 cattle to an animal sanctuary where they would all be treated as pets for the rest of their lives! He just could not bear the thought of them dying terrifying deaths in a slaughter house!

Perhaps being a vegetarian for 25 years had transformed his mindset and perception of animals. He saw his cows as having “good memories” and “a range of emotions”. “They from relationships”. He had also seen them cry. He could not reconcile the idea of looking after them and doing the best by them, and, afterwards sending them to the slaughter house to face the terrifying ordeal of brutal death.

Earlier on, he had tried his hand at dairy farming. However, it was hard for him to see calves and cows being separated and being “distressed” by the separation.

So now, he feels relieved that he had made the right decision to stop animal farming. He had always found it upsetting. He will now turn his attention to the business of running a vegan organic market, where no animal product or animal fertiliser will be involved!

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this post, which is like cool spring rain on dry cracked land.

Such an inspiring and heartwarming story. It has such a great impact on creating awareness against killing of animals to satisfy our diet. Detaching oneself from our possessions and desires is never easy. This man had showed us that with compassion it is not difficult at all. Thank you Rinpoche for always reminding us to be kind and compassionate towards all sentient beings.

    Dear Rinpoche,
Indeed something to rejoice, it will encourage others to do so. However, it takes time for some to realise this. for consumer, How many will have the courage to look into their eyes, moreover their plight for freedom. Often, the taste, the smell and the picture of fine dining are more compelling than giving up. When talking about giving up, it is something like so hard to do and yet it is very necessary.
    Thank you Rinpoche.

One of the few surviving historic Buddhist buildings in Mongolia. The temple of the Choijin Lama is an important example of Chinese-style religious architecture. It is one of the few surviving historic Buddhist buildings in Mongolia. Hidden among the tallest sky scappers this hidden gem is an architectural wonder. It was the home of Luvsan Haidav Choijin Lama, who is the state oracle and brother of the Bogd Khan. The State Oracle of Mongolia had a long historic connection with Dorje Shugden. Even took trance of 3 different deities , Nechung, Tsiu Marpo and Dorje Shugden. It is a temple with a lot of old, ancient artifacts as Choijin Lama would go into a trance. After been through historic changes it was reopened as a museum. The Choijin Lama Temple’s history is documented with many religious hardships and interesting happenings. Interesting read and detailed explanation for one to understand better . A must see place when travelling there .

Breaking news the Tribune Journal published December 15, 2017 H H Dalai-lama planning to visit China. Since exile HH the Dalai Lama left Tibet in 1959, returning to China will be a wonderful reunion for many. This potential visit to China by HH the Dalai Lama might lead to those who left their homeland able to visit Tibet again. Millions of Tibetans in Tibet would definitely wish to see Dalai Lama again. The Dalai Lama would be too happy as great memories to see places as such his palace, relatives and so forth. If the return is successful all negative attacks on Dorje Shugden practitioners should cease immediately. There are indeed many benefits if Dalai Lama visit to China as it would clear the doubts of some. May Dalai Lama fondest wish come true soon.

This mandala offering is the symbolic offering of the prosperity of the whole universe. Mandala offering is a powerful method for accumulating extensive merit if we do it with proper visualization. Doing it this way we dedicate the merit from each offering for the sentient beings as it is performed. It is very effective for the mind. It is important to understand all about the offerings. Doing the mandala offering is a way of clearing out all these negative states of mind. The mandala offering purifies our attachment, the stinginess, the miserliness, the clinging mind. It enriches the mind with the positive potential from giving. We create a lot of positive potential or merit just by giving. The mandala offering is training us to develop the mind that takes delight and joy in making other people happy. In doing so, we create merit. Interesting read.

Changkya Rolpai Dorje a Grand Lama of China, Imperial Art Consultant, a principal Tibetan Buddhist teacher in the Qing court. He is closely associate with Qianlong Emperor of China. This relationship proved extremely significant. He served as Qianlong’s main Buddhist teacher and adviser in matters related to Buddhism. Including art, literature, religious initiations and practices, and diplomacy. He was recognized as a reincarnation of the previous Changkya Lama. As a Buddhist administrator in Beijing, he played an important role in founding Yonghegong Temple , a monastic college for Mongol, Manchu, and Chinese monks. He was also instrumental in developing the systems of iconography, cataloguing, and inscribing that would prove so important to the Qianlong emperor’s projects in Buddhist art. Truly talented.

Giuseppe Tucci was a scholar of oriental cultures, specializing in Tibet and the history of Buddhism. He is considered one of the founders of the academic field of Buddhist Studies. Tibetan painted scrolls, also known as thangkas came to Tibet from India. They
are synonymous with Tibetan culture and religion. The tradition of thangka painting which is also known as scroll painting came to Tibet from India. It was largely influenced by the art form developed in Nepal. Tucci, highly literate in Sanskrit and Tibetan as well as fluent in many Himalayan languages, was the first western scholar to travel widely through the Tibet and India. Thangka served as important teaching tools depicting the life of the Buddha. The scroll paintings are framed with colour stain ,an art form with unique features in Tibetan culture. Wow in one of the thangkas he even described the mythical kingdom related with the Kalachakra Tantra and its divine kings. What he did was truly amazing.
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor Niral for this wonderful sharing explaining all about it.

Kalmykia is a sparsely populated republic and country of Russia located directly north of the North Caucasus in Eastern Europe. Buddhism’s revival in Kalmykia can be traced to the political liberalization which led to the construction of the republic’s first Buddhist temple. The Kalmyk nomads, arrived about 400 years ago bringing their faith with them from Asia. Having a long complex history views of religious revival in Kalmykia. The Kalmyks and Russians have had close ties for centuries. Kalmykia is the only state in the whole of Europe where the majority of the population is Buddhist. A beautiful country to visit with many attractions such as Temple of the Golden Abode of Buddha, Pagoda Seven Days, Buddhist Temple Syakusn-Sume and so forth.
Thank you Rinpoche and Stella Cheang for this wonderful sharing.

Reading this post again just wondering how this amazing Hanging Temple was built without modern technology. This Hanging Temple, built into a cliff near Mount Heng in Datong City, Shanxi Province, China. Built more than 1500 years ago by a monk named Liao Ran. It has survived since than with many locals and tourist visiting it yearly. It is the only existing unique temple with the combination of three Chinese traditional philosophies of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. The most outstanding feature of the Hanging Monastery is the side-by-side sculptures of Laozi, Confucius, and Shakyamuni. The temple was one of the five most scared mountains in China considered as a sacred site for pilgrimage. Wish to see for myself this unique temple someday.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

Duldzin Dragpa Gyaltsen the first Kyorlung Ngari Tulku, was one of the principal disciples of Je Tsongkhapa and also the founder of the Gelugpa school. Duldzin Dragpa Gyaltsen is renowned for his strict adherence to the Vinaya or Buddhist monastic code. Duldzin Dragpa Gyaltsen was the founder of Tsunmo Tsal monastery in Tagtse Dzong , Central Tibet. Was one of the more notable previous lives of Dorje Shugden where in this incarnation, he had made the promise to arise as a Dharma Protector to protect the precious teachings of his teacher Lama Tsongkhapa. Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen was devoted to Lama Tsongkhapa, following all his advice and instructions without breaking any commitments. That’s how the first ever Gelug monastery, Gaden Monastery in Lhasa was built then. Interesting read.
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor David for this sharing.

Awesome art work of thangkas. Thangkas serve as important teaching tools depicting the life of the Buddha, various influential lamas and other deities and bodhisattvas. Looking at all these antique and ancient thangkas featuring Buddha, deities, the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden and so forth is simply beautiful indeed. The thangka is very much a part of Sikkimese Buddhism and it is painted in the traditional Tibetan style.
Thank you Rinpoche and talented painters for coming up with all these awesome thangka painting for us to download for free.

To the Mosuo people whom are a small ethnic group living in Yunnan and Sichuan provinces in China, the Goddess Gemu is their main Protector. Mosuo people are an ancient tribal community of Tibetan Buddhists, accepting this Protector for over 1,000 years. The Mosuo are believed to be descendants of the ancient Qiang, a people from the Tibetan plateau . Where here women are treated as equal, have led families for centuries. According to legend, the history of the Mountain of the Goddess Gemu, is closely linked to that of Lake Lugu. The sacred Gemu Mountain graces the edge of the pristine, deep azure blue Lugu Lake. As told by the locals the goddess Gemu was a diligent, beautiful girl in Zhebo Village at the foot of Lion Mountain. Interesting story behind this beautiful girl and her ability to embroider . The people celebrates the remarkable Gemu Mountain Goddess on the seventh moon of the lunar calendar, with music, dancing and prayers. Interesting the folk myths and legends are infused with Tibetan Buddhism elements. Thank you Rinpoche and Valentina for sharing this enchanting story .

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer

All attendees are paying homage to Rinpoche and Buddhas before the start of our weekly Dorje Shugden puja. Outwardly, it seems that Dorje Shugden helps practitioners overcoming their obstacles and problems but ultimately Dorje Shugden’s supreme purpose is to help practitioners on their path to Enlightenment. Do join in our weekly DS puja, every Saturday @3 pm at Jalan Seang Tek, Penang. ~by Jacinta

We are in the third week of Ramadan this year, and kind volunteers have never failed to feed people in need since Tengku Zatashah started this meaningful #zerofoodwastage initiative in 2016. The aim is to benefit the underprivileged with nice surplus food collected from Ramadan buffets. Every night during the month of Ramadan, volunteers collect surplus cooked food from hotels and distribute it to charity homes and low-income families. THANK YOU, Tengku, dedicated volunteers and hotel partners, for making this Ramadan special for the underprivileged. #kecharasoupkitchen #kecharafoodbank #kecharaempowerment - KSK @ Vivian

In 2021, we've encountered far too many challenges—Pandemic, months-long lockdown, landslide, and flood. We are proud to witness Malaysians helping one another as these agonies come sequentially. Looking back to 2021, Kechara Soup Kitchen has made significant progress, with more to come in 2022. Every year, we move a little closer to our vision. We are immensely thankful to have such dedicated teams of volunteers willing to go above and beyond for our clients. Not to mention our sponsors and donors; none of this would have been possible without you. Thank you. Thank you for being you. Thank you for helping the underprivileged to a better future. Have a blessed year ahead from our hearts to your hearts. #2022 #newyear #kecharasoupkitchen #kecharafoodbank #kecharaempowerment

Underprivileged residents of two PPRs in Kuala Lumpur recently received a total of 427kg from our longterm surplus produce sponsor, Lotuss Stores (formerly Tesco Stores). The 65 families are our regular beneficiaries, and are grateful to receive fresh vegetables on a consistent basis right at their doorstep. One of our recipients, Rajeswari, 52, single mother of 2 children, shared that she stopped receiving welfare aid due to unforeseen circumstances. Her words: "Saya cakap untuk Kechara [Soup Kitchen] banyak terima kasih sebab kasi makanan. Dan lebih mau tolong orang lain yang susah seperti saya". Our heartfelt thank-you goes to Lotuss Stores for being a dependable source of food aid and for #helpingthepoor with us. #kecharafoodbank #makingadifference #kitajagakita #charity #foodbank #bantuan #ngomalaysia #givingback #strongertogether - Vivian @ Kechara Soup Kitchen
