Rinpoche saving doggy at 3am on the highway | 凌晨3点的任务

By | Jun 22, 2013 | Views: 1,045

凌晨3点半,多数人还在睡觉,詹杜固仁波切却在高速公路上拯救受伤的动物

Last night Tsem Rinpoche went for an outing with some of His students until past midnight, along way the back, Rinpoche would stop the enotourage of cars whenever he saw stray dogs in order to feed them. Rinpoche always carries along in the car boot a lot of dog food – dry food, wet canned food, milk, and the plates and bowls, so that whenever stray dogs were spotted, especially those that looked skinny and were seeen wandering around looking for food,  Rinpoche would ask His students to feed the dogs, and many times Rinpoche would watch to make sure that the dogs were eating well, only then would He moved on.

So as usual, a white and brown dog was spotted along the way, and upon further inspection, he only had three legs, and had a gaping wound at his back, Rinpoche was very concerned because that means the dog would have a tougher time looking for food in the wild and would suffer further, so after asking His students to feed the dog with a lot of dry and wet food and milk, Rinpoche had a discussion with His students on what to do and how to help the dog further.

It’s 3:30am in the early morning and Tsem Rinpoche was standing on a highway with a few of His students following the injured stray dog spotted along the highway, waiting for the tranquilizers and carrier to get here. Poor doggy only has three legs, and a gaping, festering hole in his back. Then, after five hours of running around, and six tranquilizer pills later, doggy is finally safely on his way to the vet! Look at how much pain he is in. Despite that, no crying from him and no struggling in his cage, and he didn’t puke on the winding driving down.

May we be able to help all animals in pain and relieve them of their sufferings.

Update: 24 June 2013

Dear Rinpoche,

1. The vet has been cleaning Sonam’s wound for the past 2 days. It is a repetitive process because they have to see if any maggots are left after each cleaning, and to see how the wound progresses each time.

2. Today, there was no more sign of maggots, which is a good sign.

3. The vet will monitor the healing of the wound for the next 2 days and let us know how it is doing. The vet will also let us know approximately when Sonam can be discharged.

4. Pastor Susan is looking for a temporary home for Sonam who can take him in temporarily so he doesn’t have to be boarded at the vet. More space for Sonam and it will also be less cost.

Thank you
BK

Update: 24 July 2013

Rinpoche’s compassion is not verbal but is walk the talk. Rinpoche always show us how to be compassionate all the way. Whenever we go out with Rinpoche, Rinpoche always on a lookout for many things that Rinpoche would able to help to relieve their suffering. Dogs are one of them and Rinpoche is very particular because of animals unable to speak to us their pain, suffering, like, dislike and etc. Especially for those stray that may not able to find food and stay hungry. Rinpoche will definitely feed them and if they are sick or injured Rinpoche will ask us to bring them for treatment. You can see Rinpoche’s compassion is unconditional and most of us witness this through our experience with Rinpoche.

Rinpoche always show us to the way to care for all living beings including animals. Be ever ready to help no matter what time or what the circumstances is. And that is compassion. To be ready to serve for others. Thank you Rinpoche for your teaching.

Thank you Pastor Seng Piow for sharing this article. Rinpoche always show us good example so that we as students will learn from him. We must have love for all beings in the world, no matter there are animals or human. This is truly the heart of a Bodhisattva. Many of us can only say it, action tells everything. Just read Pastor Jean Ai’s comment, it’s been three years, Rinpoche never stop rescuing and feeding stray dogs. Rinpoche’s love has no boundary, no limitation, no condition, true compassion. This is what we need to learn and develop.
Actually, my wife and I start trying, we keep a bag of dog food in the car as start, wherever we see dogs or cats or small animals, especially those are locked in cage, we chant mantra an blow on them. I find that by doing this, dogs bark at us less. Last time I was very scared of stray dogs, coz they chased me and barked at me. Now, whenever I see stray dogs, I just stay calm and chant mantra and try to blow at them. If I have food with me, I will feed them, stray dogs don’t bark at me anymore. They can sense it.
Thank you again Pastor Seng Piow for the article and Rinpoche for the unconditional love. We have a lot more to learn from here. _/\_

When it comes to Rinpoche, feeding and taking care of dogs is not a one-off activity…I’m posting this in 2016, three years after this blog post was published and Rinpoche is still helping strays in this manner.

Those around Rinpoche will know this well – stopping off by the side of the road to leave food for dogs, especially those who are pregnant or recently gave birth. They will have more mouths to feed and will also be weaker and more vulnerable, having more lives to take care of and having to produce milk. For this reason, Rinpoche will carry food in his car so we can stop whenever we have to, to feed hungry strays. It’s a simple, easy way that everyone can engage in to help other sentient beings with no agenda to receive anything in return.

    谢谢仁波切的分享。 虽然大家都说慈悲心,不过多少人可以真正做到呢?
    仁波切就实实在在的让我们看到慈悲心到底是怎样的。

    希望众生都可以脱离苦海,无论是人类或者是动物。

  7. Ck siah on Oct 28, 2013 at 6:55 pm

URGENT help needed. Sonam has been sterilized and boarded at the vet for 1 week now. He has recovered from the procedure. I will not be able to take him in anymore and high possibility I will need to release him back to where he was found.

Sonam seemed fine with dogs but is barky. He barks at even the people who feeds him daily. Due to resource and space constraints, the noise will put the other dogs in jeopardy of complaints by neighbors.

I am hoping someone will be able to foster or adopt and work with him before I have to decide to release him by end of this week.

Please contact me at susan.lim108@gmail.com for any help you can provide.

  11. Albert Ratchaga on Jul 23, 2013 at 9:08 am

3am while everyone are sleeping comfortably in their bed, what’s Rinpoche doing out there? Why aren’t Rinpoche stay in his house? rest in his bed? why is Rinpoche still out there? Many people asked me why does Rinpoche always sleep so “early”? Well, this is the answer.

Rinpoche always wanted to help the beings who are in suffering, he does not do it only when he’s convenient or when the situation is favourable to him, Rinpoche does it anytime and everytime. When a life is suffering, it will not wait until when you are free only they suffer, it will not wait till you woke up from the bed only they suffer, if to wait until we are ready to save them, it might be already too late.

Rinpoche has great compassion to everyone especially dogs, because they can’t talk, they can’t protect themselves when they are down with sickness, there is no proper healing process they can take, so Rinpoche will always make sure the animals are well taken care of, even for they strays, Rinpoche always has lots of dog food in the car, so that he can feed them anywhere when he sees them. Even to the strays, Rinpoche will never let them be and pretend to see nothing. He will step out from his car and feed them, to make sure they have a full stomach. Rinpoche’s car always full of the smell of dog food, but he never mind about it, in fact, he loves it, because these dog food are to save lives.

So many animals are saved by Tsem Rinpoche and Rinpoche is tireless in making animals are taken care off and healed . And for me the care does not stop there, what Rinpoche does for the animals and benefitting them goes way beyond just healing and feeding them I feel, so all animals helped by Lama are extremely fortunate.

To be very frank, I’m not an animal lover but because of Rinpoche’s kindness, and his love and care towards animals, I think becoming more warm toward animals.
It was just another night that we are driving back to Kechara Forest Retreat, it was Rinpoche, Seng Piow and myself in the same car.
Suddenly Rinpoche said: stop the car, that’s a hungry dog by the road side.
I jumped down the car together with Jean Ai, Beng Koi and a few others who followed Rinpoche in cars at the back. When we are approaching this poor dog (Sonam) with dog foods that Rinpoche always carried around in his car, Sonam was standing up and trying to run away. It’s only den we realized he have only 3 legs.
Rinpoche was extremely concern about him and Rinpoche was thinking how can we help him? Beng Koi and a few came out with an idea that we should bring Sonam to a vet and get treatment. We contacted Pastor Susan, who’s in charge of Kechara Animal Sanctuary, and she came immediately from KL to rescued Sonam.
We spent at least 3-4hours and finally we got him into a cage and sent to doctor.
By this act from Rinpoche, actually taught me that regardless who you are or what you are, everyone have right to be heal and happy. Rinpoche can scarified his own pleasure, time just to help someone, even an animal.
When we approached Sonam and he ran away actually makes me realized some beings just have no karma to received. Even though we are doing this base on good intention for him to get well, but due to his bad karma, he actually run away from help.
Many of us are the same, when sometimes something good happened to us, we actually run away from it, beacause of our bad karma, we couldn’t see the benefit.
It was a great night and i learned a lot from it. Thanks Rinpoche again.

Wow, this dog is in such a bad state, its incredible though from what happen is that despite its injuries it doesn’t moan or struggle. I am really happy Rinpoche and others helped this dog when many of us would not have even taken notice, thank you for showing us what great compassion Rinpoche has and that animals too derave the kindness from us. I hope the dog finds a good home for some to take care.

How many of us will spontaneously stock up our car with dog food going around town looking for strays to feed ? It has never crossed my mind to do that! Melissa and I have just decided that we will from now on keep some dog food in our car cause it will come in handy! A very small change in our lifestyle but certainly very beneficial thing to do. Thank you Rinpoche for always showing us ways we can benefit others !!
And dear Sonam , I pray for your speedy recovery ! You definitely did have lots of merits to have met Rinpoche !

Thanks Seng Piow for sharing, we always sleep, online, watch DVD etc at 3.30am but Rinpoche and team saving a injure stray dog at this moment…

Normally if we are driving at this hour, we always no much care about the situation beside us but Rinpoche due to his compassion to all sentient beings may saw the injured stray dog and save the dog.

Rinpoche and team is the Real Example for us to generate more compassion towards all sentient beings…

May the dog recover soon and able to find a adopter to take care of the dog…

  20. AdelineTan on Jun 26, 2013 at 6:01 pm

Sonam in deed has such good merits to meet Rinpoche at such a critical time of his life, he does not have to suffer any longer once he is under the care of Rinpoche. May he will have swift and complete recovery from his injury and lots of love and care from the people around him.

  21. Joy on Jun 26, 2013 at 4:19 am

I am glad we were there with Rinpoche when Rinpoche spotted this poor mumu now named Sonam by Rinpoche. Sonam means “merit”… it is awesome that this 3 legged wounded doggy had the good karma to receive help from Rinpoche and us… some dogs do not. Why I say “good karma” because from us rescuing him to be treated means there is a higher chance of Sonam living longer, healthier, happier life and Dharma imprinted in him although he may not comprehend it now.

Sonam and many stray dogs also kinda remind me of the many different people who received help from Rinpoche or who could have received help from Rinpoche but ran away because they felt their comfort zones, attachments threatened. This is rather sad because it is like giving food and wanting to help a hungry stray who is scared due to ignorance. Now I understand the meaning of no karma to even receive good things… wonder what they have done to create such a karma.

  22. Adrian Cho on Jun 25, 2013 at 11:32 pm

This is so touching, that Rinpoche always show much care and love to animals. It is so sad for this doggy was injured and Rinpoche saved this doggy from street. Hope this doggy recover soon and no need suffering of the pain.

Deer Rinpoche, hope the dog is not feeling any pain when the vet is cleaning the wound for him and hope that he will find his temporary home for him to rest to speed up the healing speed. whenever I look at the picture of his wound i couldn’t imagine how pain was he at that state. Rinpoche can you explain to me why would living things suffer like that.

  24. HelenaC on Jun 25, 2013 at 12:52 pm

Its is so sad to see them suffering without help in the middle of nowhere. But Sonam is very lucky and fortunate to meet Rinpoche and the fellow students the night. I am sure with Rinpoche’s blessing Sonam will be recover soon.
By staying up at 3am to help a doggie is truly shows compassionate and care to other beings. It’s really touched. I am gonna put some dog food in my car too like Rinpoche 🙂 Thank you for the wonderful post and help for Sonam.

  25. MartinC on Jun 25, 2013 at 5:59 am

There are quite a number of things that Tsem Rinpoche does continuously without fail and one of them is looking out for homeless, injured and unwanted animals. And over the years Rinpoche has personally seen to the rescue of live fish (heading for slaughter) from restaurants, birds that are unwanted due to injury/deformity and of course countless dogs. And from Rinpoche’s example, it is very common for Kecharians to care for animals wherever they go.

That the dog was spotted to begin with was due to the fact that it is a very common practice for Rinpoche to stop by the roadside and feed stray dogs and it is only by this, that Sonam came to be noticed.

Sonam the injured 3-legged dog will now join many others who are under Rinpoche’s care. What is noteworthy is how Rinpoche and a handful of Kecharians committed to saving thing dog – an exercise that started at 3am in the morning and lasted some 5-6 hours. For me, this is one of the most unique traits of Kechara that Rinpoche has instilled deep into all his students.

To me, whenever Rinpoche requests for the students’ help in an animal rescue, it is as much for the animal as it is for us the students because the act of rescue serves also as great opportunities for us to practice compassion and gain merits. And this applies to anyone, not just to Rinpoche’s students. Anyone can also gain merits by simply being kind to animals and where possible, go a bit out of the way to help them.

Very good to know that Sonam will be well.

So deep is the compassion of Rinpoche, whose virtuous mind always wishes to see all living beings be free from suffering, irrespective animals or human beings. That’s he reason why, even at 3.30am in the morning, we can still find Rinpoche feeding an ailing and hungry injured dog with only three legs, while waiting for the tranquilisors to take effect before carting it over to the vet clinic for treatment. The dog is said to be suffering from a big fester hole, but yet no crying nor struggling were made when Rinpoche’s people later on safely carted him over to the vet clinic. Heartfelt thanks to Rinpoche for his immensed act of compassion for saving this poor suffering animal’s life.

  28. Patsy on Jun 24, 2013 at 2:55 pm

Sonam was very lucky that Rinpoche saw him by the roadside and went down to feed him, only to discover that he is three legged and had a bad wound. Poor Sonam, he must be hungry and in pain.

Thank you, Rinpoche, for reminding us to be compassionate at all times by setting a good example for us to follow. Another life is saved because of Rinpoche’s compassion. May Sonam wound heals quickly.

  29. Jace Chong on Jun 24, 2013 at 1:03 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for saving the dog and showing us again and again, what we can do for others.

No matter dogs, cats, birds…injured beings feel pain just like we do. If we didn’t manage to stop all the pain, at least we can stop inflicting pain on others.

The most easiest thing we can do now is to stop eating meat, stop demanding any food that requires people to kill for you. This is not only a way for us to practice compassion for others, but also a healthy living style.

    Please be a vegetarian now.

Heart wrenching to see Sonam in pain. This morning on the way out from house i see a poor kitten laid and dead on the road, must had been hit by careless driver. It is true that whatever that happens is due to one’s karma but it is still painful to see these. We should stop harming animals and one of the way to do so is become vegetarian. If we can sympathize what the animal is going through why are we still able to enjoy the meat on the plate.

    Dear all,

We received this update from Beng Kooi with regards to this doggie which Rinpoche has named him Sonam from the vet earlier.

Sonam is doing well at the vet, he is a young boy but overall healthy. The wound on his back can be caused by a dog bite that became inflamed and infected or can be abscess that has ruptured then became inflected. Vet has administrated the relevant medication and will observe Sonam for 3 more days.

Will keep u guys inform whenever we get any more news.

So many animals are suffering because of human beings’ lack of care. We can say that it is the animals’ own karma that they are in that situation but since we are all in samsara, we are suffering, so we should help one another, especially those who have no voice, like these poor animals.

Sonam was very lucky that Rinpoche saw him and rescued him. I am sure he must have some good karma for his path to cross with Rinpoche. May he get well soon!

The poor dog is so fortunate to be saved by Rinpoche. So sad to know it is badly injured and in great pain.It would have died if not for Rinpoche’s kindness and compassion.Rinpoche’s love for dogs comes naturally and shows us by Rinpoche’s inspiring act.May the poor dog recover swiftly.Thank you Rinpoche.

  47. sarahyap on Jun 22, 2013 at 5:46 pm

Poor thing… lucky Rinpoche saved him or he would not have survived on the streets for long with that type of injury.

Rinpoche always shows us consistently that we must be kind to animals, everytime Rinpoche goes out, there’s packets of dog food in the car in case Rinpoche sees a hungry dog there will be food to feed it. Nowadays, I too keep dog food in my car to feed any dogs I see on the streets. Rinpoche shows us by action, so we too must follow suit as we all do aspire to have the great compassion of our Guru.

  48. David Lai on Jun 22, 2013 at 5:02 pm

I believe that Rinpoche had named him Sonam, which means merit in Tibetan. I think he is very lucky to have met Rinpoche otherwise, it would have been a long struggle to survive by the roadside. Being born a stray animal has a lot of pitfalls and is a very lonely and scary existence. Meeting kind and compassionate people like Rinpoche and his students is really a rare occasion.

It is very easy to neglect and ignore the sufferings of animals when we often ignore our own closest friends and family. It is definitely great to care for animals because it is training for us to care for others without an expectation of a return. When we don’t hold on too tightly that care and kindness to be reciprocated, we have spiritually evolved to another level.

Thank you Rinpoche for letting me witness how Rinpoche treats these little souls. Feeding them with extra food so that they will have food for the next few days.

Even saving this little guy, Sonam(merit), asking a few of us to bring him to the vet.

I am glad that this little fella has got the medical attention that is needed. I am so happy for the group that stayed on to take care of Sonam. May he be blessed with speedy recovery, and have a good rebirth in the future.

Thank you for the sharing Seng Piow. Hoping for the fortunate doggy quick recovery.Fortunate as to meet up with Rinpoche and those who cares…

  52. Lim Han Nee on Jun 22, 2013 at 2:59 pm

Rinpoche shows compassion 24/7. At 3 am, Rinpoche is rescuing an injured dog on the highway. Then he waits with the dog until the tranquilizers, to ease its pain, arrive. Meanwhile the poor three-legged dog,in severe pain with a gaping wound on his back, is fed.Much do we learn from this situation. That when we want to show kindness, we go all the way.

Thank you, Rinpoche, for always reminding us to be caring and compassionate at all times , by your fine example.

  53. Sean Wang on Jun 22, 2013 at 2:25 pm

Rinpoche always shows kindness towards animals and will help any animal across the street. It is due to actions like these that inspired me to be part of Animal Befrienders Coalition. The doggy must have been in so much pain. It is nice to hear that the doggy has been saved.

Imagine what would’ve happened if Rinpoche did not save the dog. It will continually suffer and now because of Rinpoche’s help the dog can be happy.

  54. Lucas Roth on Jun 22, 2013 at 1:36 pm

Rinpoche has saved another life from suffering, poor doggie must have been through so much pain and his/her injuries were really bad. i hope this doggie is okay now.

Thank you Rinpoche for showing us what is the qualities of a Dharma practitioner must have that are Compassion and wisdom. These two qualities are the foundation for becoming a Buddha and achieve full enlightenment. Rinpoche you always using skillful mean on Dharma and also shown us that once we engaging in Dharma practice we must let go of comfort zone. With folded hands, Hecelus Tan

So sad 🙁 this dog must be in so much pain. I am soooo happy that Rinpoche had saved this dog from the streets. I am sure that it will become better now. I hope it does. I wish that more people would be as kind to animals as Rinpoche is, the world would be a better place for animals.

Du Fu (712-770 AD), also known as Tu Fu, was a prominent Chinese poet of the Tang Dynasty, often considered one of the greatest alongside Li Bai. He was a poet-historian and a poet-sage, known for his realistic depictions of human suffering and reflections on the troubled times of his era. His poems, reflecting his personal experiences and the political instability of the time, have had a lasting impact on both Chinese and Japanese literary traditions.
    Interesting read.

H H Kyabje Pabongka Dechen Nyingpo is by far one of the most popular and influential Gelug religious figures of the 20th Century. One of Phabongkha’s most important aristocratic students, Lhalu Lhacham Yangdzom Tsering relationship to her teacher and his lineage teachings goes along way .She is famously remembered for is her unwavering devotion towards her guru, HH Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche. Yangdzom Tsering’s Shatra family were ancient sponsors and students of the Gelug tradition and had apparently been patrons of Tsongkhapa the founder of the Gelug school. The life stories of Lady Lhalu Lhacham Yangdzom as mentioned by Joona Repo is indeed inspiring. How her life struggles with tragedies, and her devotion to dorje Shugden and the Gelug tradition throughout her life.

Looking at these pictures remained me of my first pilgrimage to Wu Tai San. With the blessings of our guru, we able to visit Wu Tai San a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site . In fact it never did come to my mind that I am fortunate given a chance to go as I am still very new then. Upon hearing about the pilgrimage I got myself register without much thought. The history and stories of Wu Tai San has inspired me to go there. Interesting the Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong of China are closely connected to WuTai San. Wu Tai San located in Shanxi Province, China renowned as the home of Lord Manjushri the bodhisattva of wisdom, with different emanations of the bodhisattva residing on each of the five peaks. The area is dotted with over 50 temples and monasteries, many of which are historical and architecturally significant. Those temples built over 7 dynasties housing numerous Buddhist relics. Wutai Shan also offers stunning scenery, including snow-capped peaks, forests, and streams. Wu Tai San is one of the four Sacred Buddhist mountains of China, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wutai Shan was known to be a mystical and sacred site inhabited by divine spirits, accompanied by unusual events, such as miraculous light appearances at night.
We visited all the Holy sites, making offerings and doing prayers at each sites. We even have the opportunity to collect holy stones for future statue insertion or to keep on our altars. Times flies as our pilgrimage ended with so many stories to share with the rest.
Thank you Rinpoche and writes team sharing those pictures.

He is seen as the second Buddha particularly within the Nyingma .He was a legendary Indian Buddhist mystic credited with introducing Vajrayana Buddhism to Tibet in the 8th century. As found in Buddhist scriptures Padmasambhava birth is often associated with legends and prophecies. Interesting…… Padmasambhava is depicted with eight manifestations, each reflecting a different aspect of his miraculous activities. Interesting article .

Milarepa Cave, situated high in the Himalayan mountain of Tibet, a sacred cave beckons pilgrims and spiritual seekers from across the globe. Milarepa Cave, a site of profound significance in Tibetan Buddhism, is merely a geological wonder. This sacred cave is also a living testament to the power of meditation and devotion. Its where an 11th-century yogi and poet who spent transformative years in solitary practice. Milarepa Cave graces Tibet’s rugged yet stunning landscapes, a region renowned for its deep spiritual heritage and breath-taking natural beauty. The cave’s importance is inseparable from a revered figure and the enduring legacy of Jetsun Milarepa a revered yogi and poet in Tibetan Buddhism. Milarepa Cave stands not just as a geological formation but as a powerful symbol of spiritual transformation and the enduring strength of Tibetan Buddhism. Reading this interesting cave had me Google for more information about this sacred cave. Numerous stories and legends surround Milarepa’s time in the cave, enhancing its mystical aura.

I wanted to take a moment to share a recent experience with you regarding my Instagram account. Unfortunately, my account was hacked, which was both frustrating and disappointing. Losing access to something that plays a significant role in my business and personal connections was incredibly stressful. What made the situation even more challenging was discovering that Meta does not have a dedicated support team to assist users facing account compromises. With so many people experiencing this issue daily, it’s alarming that their recovery process is not more accessible or efficient. After numerous failed attempts to recover my account through Meta’s standard procedures, I was fortunate enough to get in touch with a member of the Meta recovery department, @Rothsteincode on X (formerly Twitter), and via email at rothsteincode@gmail.com Their expertise and guidance were invaluable, and thanks to their assistance, I was able to regain full access to my account.
While I am incredibly grateful for their help, this experience has highlighted a major issue—Meta needs to implement better security measures and provide more reliable support for users dealing with these kinds of problems. The lack of direct customer support is unacceptable, considering how vital social media platforms have become for businesses and individuals alike.I wanted to share this with you in case you or anyone you know ever faces a similar issue. If you ever find yourself in this unfortunate situation, I highly recommend reaching out to @Rothsteincode for assistance. Hopefully, Meta will take action to improve their security policies and customer service in the near future.Thank you for taking the time to read this. Stay safe online, and let’s continue to support each other in this digital space.

A great history of a great yogi which I do enjoy reading , reading over it again and again. Jetsun Milarepa was a famous Tibetan siddha, known as a murderer when he was a young man. Who later turning to Buddhism and becoming a highly accomplished Buddhist disciple. Generally considered as one of Tibet’s most famous yogis and spiritual poets, whose teachings are known among several schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Milarepa’s story is one of struggle, anguish, resolve, and triumph all of which make him recognizably. Practicing these teachings for many years in isolated mountain retreats in caves such as caves hidden deep in the mountains of Tsum Valley. That’s where Milarepa attained enlightenment and gained fame for his incredible perseverance in practice and for his spontaneous songs of realisation. Milarepa is said to be the first to achieve the state of Vajradhara in one lifetime. That’s incredible.

Visiting Tibet, holy Gaden Monastery is everyone dream and a once life time. Of course if we have the means to visit again will be great. End of December 2008 and early January 2009 our Guru H E Tsem Rinpoche with a small group students visited Tibet. Thousands of pilgrims, visitors and tourists around the world have visited this incredible holy land for the last 600 years. Tsem Rinpoche visited Tibet for the first time with an oxygen tank. I am fortunate to visit this holy place with my Dharma brothers and sisters years back.
With our Guru blessing we went without any without any hitch. Visited most of the monasteries and could feel the powerful energies there. Looking at those pictures in this blog reminds me of trip there.

Interesting….. a ground breaking documentary by world BBC where everyone should watch. BBC did mentioned and documented that Jesus was a Buddhist monk and that he had spent some years in India. I would not know about this till I came across this blog. Many people most probably too. Interesting watch one should not miss. Jesus was a religious leader revered in Christianity, one of the world’s major religions. He is regarded by most Christians as the Incarnation of God. Historical evidence indicates that Jesus was well acquainted with Buddhism. Historical evidence indicates that Jesus knew about Buddhism. Other evidence, while perhaps apocryphal, indicates that he spent most of his so-called lost years outside Judea, possibly in Kashmir to study Buddhism exclusively.

The Great Buddhas of Bamiyan were two monumental Buddhist statues built around 600 CE. A holy site for Buddhists on the Silk Road, historically a caravan route linking the markets of China with those of the Western world. The two most prominent statues were the giant standing sculptures of the Buddhas .It was the site of several Buddhist monasteries where monks at the monasteries lived as hermits. It was until in 2001, both statues were destroyed by the Taliban . Before being blown up in 2001, they were the largest examples of standing Buddha carvings in the world .Buddhism was eliminated in Afghanistan by the 13th century during the Mongol conquests. Sadly all statues depicting humans in Afghanistan was destroyed. They were perhaps the most famous cultural landmarks of the region, and the site was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Despite the Buddhas’s destruction, the ruins continue to be a popular culture landmark, where many locals, pilgrims and tourist visit the site.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
