This is so horrible, the way how the horse is being slaughtered! It is not humane at all. Imagine the fear the horse has to go through before its last moment.
How can we still enjoy our meat dishes knowing how much pain the animals have to suffer? We use horses for horse racing when they are still young and strong. When they are older, we kill them for their meat. This is life but we are treating them like an object.
If we want a more peaceful world, less violence, we have to learn to generate compassion. One of the ways to develop our compassion is to stop eating meat because we don’t want animals to suffer. If we can afford and have time, we can also consider adopting animals from the shelters. As the demand for meat decreases, there will be less killing.
I know I don’t the right to say this but humans are too disgusting. They eat almost every living animals. Not only that, they even eat the animal’s organs. Actually I should said we. We humans are not born predators, we are supposed to be vegetarians. Some people told me that I must eat meat to be healthy, I now proof to them that we don’t need meat to be healthy.

It is very sad to see how people torturing animals, how people kill animals and created so much sufferings to them, I’m very sure we won’t want to be tortured and killed like this, but why we do what we don’t want to other life being? Please stop creating more suffering to the animals..

Thanks Rinpoche for sharing this petition. I have signed on it and watched the video. It is totally cruel and without the slightest sympathy for the horses to suffer the pain, stress and living in the horrible condition.
Human action always very cruel to animal. When can human stop eating meat and stop hurting other beings are existing at this realm.Stop all the killing and appreciate what the earth and nature has give us to live in this world.
Actions like this makes me embarrassed to be a human being. This is so cruel and unnecessary, yet people do it without the slightest compunction. How sad it is. Please sign the petition. It is horrendous to think that race horses are treated like this after they have served their purpose in racing and become too old or injured. From the beginning they are treated like commodities but so long as the owners have something to gain from their being in good condition, they were treated well. Not only is it wrong to treat animals in such a inhumane way, it also reflects terribly on the greedy nature of human beings. But then this is nothing new and a lot of sentient beings have had to suffer because of man.
I contrast what I saw in the video with all the pomp, ceremony, ribbons and trophies associated with the sport of kings and I am sad and ashamed at how fake mankind has become and other lives have to suffer for it. It does not surprise me on bit that most people are heading for the lower realms. Therefore there is an urgent need for the Dharma to spread so that people will learn to think beyond themselves, for their own sake and for the sake of others.

Recently, this industry of slaughtering wild horses for meat has been put into limelight in the US to create awareness. People are actively involved in this cause to halt this horrible action soonest possible.
Horses are important animals in the North America cowboy culture since late 19th century. They were similar to the buffalos in the Chinese culture that has tremendous contributions in producing their needs. Buffalo use to work in the padi fields that grow the most important sustenance in the Chinese’s food culture – rice. Most Malaysian Chinese, especially the Chinese educated ones, refrain from eating beef. This is a gesture to show gratification to buffalo. We just don’t kill and eat those who has been kind to us. This perhaps is also influenced by the Guan Yin’s belief. Anyway, this is one of the beauty of the culture.
Similarly, horses have been kind to people by helping in cattle farming, as a form of transportation for human and goods. They were meant to be roaming in the wild freely and by keeping them confined in a certain area, is already a lot to ask for, what more when they are also expected to be helpful in ways that human wanted them to. Please bear in mind that getting a wild animal to obey instructions must also involve beating and abusive treatments to the horses, just like how the elephants, tigers etc that are trained for circus (http://blog.tsemtulku.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/animals-vegetarianism/if-you-enjoy-circuses-must-see-this.html).
Therefore, there is no reason why we should enjoy beef burgers, especially now that they include horse meat. These animals do not need us to determine their life span, they have their karma to live till their nature death. It is not acceptable that we kill them by giving excuses like they are no longer useful, old and worn off. Remember, old is a nature process, and human are most likely the culprit that has contributed to their “uselessness” and squeeze all their energy out of them!
What right do we have to take another beings life and render suffering upon them and then eat them too?! Disgusting on so many levels… why would you incur so much pain just to satisfy your taste buds? Would you like to be hung upside and be terrified? Yes I have definitely signed this partition! We may not be powerful enough to stop this directly but for a start we can do this 🙂

Every time when i read about animals been slaughter, tortured. I felt helpless to the animals. What can we do, we can’t shout at the people who does this, we can’t do anything on them, there was no concrete law to protect the animals.
With the IT technology, at least we can now sign in , write letter made noise through online media. One person can’t move or made any changes but with many people, many noise, it can be done. Remember pens is sharpen than the sword. Words can stopped the actions. Why wait, we have the right to make noise now. So i signed

I remember what Rinpoche always says. If we think eating animals or hurting animals are alright, then we should go and try to cut ourselves using a knife. If that is alright with you, then it is alright. Could you do this everytime? everytime when you eat meat and hurting animals? No way right? Then why do this to animals? THEY DO FEEL PAIN TOO! This is nothing to do with religious or Buddhism, this is about logic. If you insist to hurt them, then you have to accept the logic that one day you will get back the pain too. How could you live happily ever after when you hurt and harm others everyday? no logic at all…

Thank you for sharing this Rinpoche and I hope that every person who comes to this blog will see and sign this – every name counts for something as terrible as this. Our collective voices are very much needed now for the beings who don’t have even a single voice.
It’s shocking for us to see images like this, when there’s such a glossy, beautiful picture of horses painted to the world – My Little Ponies, Black Beauties, the horse championships (promoted as such a beautiful art and sportsmanship), horse racing… How often we forget to consider what happens to these horses after their days of beauty are over, when they’re not longer “useful” anymore (such as in racing) – where do they go then? And why are they so quickly forgotten? We praise them for being such magnificent creatures, so beautiful, so elegant in their stride and pose – but really, it’s all for us isn’t it? Our entertainment, our viewing pleasure, our moment of oohing and ahhing, our possessions. Speak to any horse lover and they will tell you of just how intelligent horses are, how capable they are of loving and feeling. And in contrast, what atrocities are committed against horses once they are too old, too weak, not beautiful or strong or fast enough.
Please sign this petition. I have. And don’t think that you’re only one voice – many bricks make up a huge wall and we can contribute to growing the awareness this way. The more people know about this kind of inhumanity, the more these people will know they are being watched, feel pressured and eventually stop.

These are my thoughts on this very disturbing article.
Just can’t believe that there would be people that would want to eat horse meat. To me this is even worse than horse racing as the horse has to go through so much pain just to be that horrible disgusting horse meat that we are eating.
I just wonder what kind of suffering in the 3 lower realms the people that kill the horses and the people that eat the meat would suffer when they die.
Seriously why would there be such people that would want to eat horse meat? Don’t they know what it is like to be a horse and killed mercy-less?
Have the ever been to a slaughter house and seen these poor horses become their meat?
This petition is a must to sign so that it will create more awareness
to more people and hopefully somebody with the power to take action would take action.

Signed! I hope the anyone who does these cruel acts will realize the laws of Karma. Even if we aren’t looking it from a spiritual point view, try viewing it from a humanitarian way. All living beings deserves to be treated with love and compassion. We should all help raise the awareness of this animal cruelty..

Who would kill a horse? Horses are amazing and beautiful animals. All they ever did was help people to travel to different places. Especially in the old times. I just don’t understand why people would kill horses now. Its pointless. So stupid of people to do this. I will sign the petition now.

In reality there are horses that are killed to become meat for human consumption after they are old and retired from horse racing. It is happening in US and Japan now. One can find horse meat in the menus.
We have associated horse as gentle and kind creature not as food. Due to those who want to profit from whatever that can derived from this creature in monetary terms they are slaughtering them and selling them as meat. Many online petitions are asking people to put in their names to send a message in collective voice to the lawmakers that people do not approve of such activity and oppose the legalization of slaughtering horse for food.
This is another link where one can vote for a change to increase the chances of this beautiful creature from being killed.

Whatever possesses a person to commit such acts of inhumane nature. What karma and/or past life imprints they must have to kill without remorse… i shudder to think where these souls would go…
In the reverse, it is also rather poignant. Imagine to be such a strong virile elegant creature such as a horse to suffer such a fate!!!
