When we become immune to feelings, pain, crying, suffering, torture, killing jus for the sake of taste indulgences or any indulgences, what have we become? Why are we alive? What are we living for? Why are we existing? What is our purpose?
I have reproduced the below article in picture to create awareness and hopefully you will sign and also start a clean vegetarian diet.

Chinese activists recently stood up to dog meat traders and rescued 900 dogs bound for slaughter for human consumption. Many of the dogs were clearly stolen family pets, even wearing tags and collars: Huskies, German Shepherds, Poodles and the like, many extremely ill and dying from the slave ship like conditions of the truck and cages. One woman found her lost Golden Retriever on the truck, but was told she could not take him home unless she paid off the trader. The activists were beaten and after a 50 hour standoff finally rescued all of the dogs. However, by that time some dogs had died and the activists were forced to bury them at the scene.

The world has watched these pictures and videos in astonishment that in this day and age people could be so fiendish and barbaric. Everyday dogs and cats are dying in the smashed cages on the trucks, denied food and water for days, then skinned alive in front of the other dogs to increase terror and suffering. Some of the dogs give birth while in the cages and many pups die because of crushing, filthy conditions or simply falling out of the cages. Workers throw the cages to the ground when unloading the trucks, breaking the bones of the dogs. A recent undercover operation showed the skinned animals actually able to still lift their heads after being thrown into a pile of other dogs.
The fact that China has absolutely no laws for the care and humane treatment of animals is outrageous. We ask you, President Xi Jinping, to put animal cruelty laws in place now and to ban all aspects of the dog meat and dog and cat fur trades. The world is watching. We stand with the brave activists who saved the 900 dogs in Anwen town. (Text is sourced from the petition below)

All sentient beings have the entitlement to live and love. They deserved to be loved and care. Though, they may not speak our languages, live like us, think like us, doesn’t mean they are worthless. There are things that we human couldn’t do it and it applied on them. Surprisingly their action touches very hearts who seen it. That is true, their unconditional love and devotion. There was often news of cats, dogs saving lives of their masters from mishaps of fire, accidents, earthquakes etc. Aren’t these heroes deserved respect?
Stop killing for karma is coming very soon!
Looking at the pictures and video paints a thousand words. Sad to see such the sufferings of those poor fury before the hours of death. Dogs are trusted companions, but in some parts of Asia. They suffered as victims of the trade in dog meat for human consumption. Help end the dog meat trade and they are not meant for foods on dinning table. Chinese activists recently stood up to dog meat traders and rescued 900 dogs bound for slaughter. Many of these dogs such as Huskies, German Shepherds, and so forth were stolen from families. A wonderful approach they stood up for those fury who could not speak up. A fast-growing network of activists did a good job trying to stop and legislation that bans the consumption of dog meat.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this to create awareness. The best choice is to go meatless for many beneficial health reasons and cause less suffering .
It was a terrible actions just to fulfill the eater desire. This actions should be stop. We must create awareness so that this has to stop. people should take care and love animals instead of hurting them.

I greatly appreciate the activist effort and risking their life to rescue the dogs. Without them the 900 dogs will be on the plates for human consumption. These unscrupulous traders are going overboard by stealing pets of families and killing the dogs ruthlessly. I really hope China would implement laws and hefty jail term soon for these unscrupulous traders and laws to stop people from eating dog meat.
More activities need to be done to bring awareness of such horrible dog eating and trading in China.
It is important to educate the public regarding the the cruelty inflicted on animals in the animal meat trade. Some animals, for example, fish, chickens, frogs and other small animals are slaughtered in the markets right in front of the customers. In this video, the dogs are skinned alive! I cannot imagined a worst suffering for any animal. I hope more people will stop supporting the flesh trade which is one of the five wrong livelihoods for laypeople taught by Lord Buddha.
I read Bill Gates’ article on the “Future of Food”. It promotes fake meat as a replacement for animal meat. Bill Gates himself said he couldn’t tell the difference! So these vegetarian food innovations are most welcome.

Fake meat like it or not is the way of the future as the number of meat eaters is growing,burger and fried chicken culture is unrelenting. The planet simply cannot sustain a world whereby a lot of them need meat. People are fighting with animals for arable land for growing grains, and planting food for the masses. And really now do we really want such scenes of animals being cut up into pieces played out over and over again in markets around the world? Sound is an energy, the sound of cries from so many animals will create disaster for our world.
This is not the first time I have seen such horrifying acts.

Why is the world ending up like this. All this animals were on this planet enjoying their freedom way before we were evolved. We have absolutely no rights to do this to them. We are animals too. We have come to this planet to enjoy the freedom with them not to snatch it away so we should absolutly stop this cruel act and let them have their freedom back!!
I hate this! Dog meat trade is so cruel and don’t people have hearts? Come on! All meats are bad and think about them don’t be selfish and ignorant!
Animals are also beings with consciousness. In short, they have feelings and feels pain, scared, happy, love, happiness, fear, etc just as we humans. Hence, they have rights and deserve to have their best interests taken into consideration, regardless of whether they are useful to humans. Animals are not ours to use for food, clothing, entertainment, experimentation, or any other reason. How presumptuos, arrogant and ignorant of human beings to think that we have the right to decide whether they live or not, or that they should be treated so badly.
And then there are millions of animals who are poisoned , blinded,and killed for test for cosmetics, household items and other personal care items. What goes on behind the doors of laboratories is horrific. Animals are also unnecessarily being trapped, caged, hurt, and even killed to make clothing, accessories, and furniture for human use. Totally despicable.
Education from young is very important and if schools incorporate that in their syllabus, this cruelty towards animals will reduce significantly, if not eventually phased out. The world always hopes and prays for a loving, caring and compassionate society. This issue must be addressed at grass roots to young children.
As the spiritual Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi said: The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.
This is so sad! The demand for dog meat should stop. Just like shark fins! The dog meat trade, even though only a few countries are consuming them, should be stopped. They are also treating the dogs inhumanely, such poor conditions and bad treatment. The good thing about this is that there are kind people who are fighting for the rights of the animals. Bravo to them, 900 lives are being saved.
Dogs are highly intelligent,loyal,loving and is human’s best friend,not food !!They do not deserve to be tortured and killed…we absolutely no right to eat them !!Animals also deserve and want to live just like us…Stop animals cruelty,be vegetarian NOW !
In the midst of these chaotic infos and ideas that arises from chaotic phenomena in our surrounding. Even our taste-buds had went astray with some imputed idea stating that by consuming certain foods will enhance ours’ physical prowess! It is these miss-conception that lead to tragic event as reported. On the others hand, someone like Rinpoche never fail to seize the opportunity to created the awareness in us of the suffering of samsara and the reasons on why we should practice virtue for our own and others benefits.
Thank you Rinpoche for posting this. It is not understandable why people are so cruel. These men who are stealing the dogs and selling them have families themselves. They know or can imagine how painful it is when the dog or the cat of the family gets lost.
Why tread the dogs so bad. No water, crushed legs, put together as if it is not be a living being.
Why even eating a dog or a cat or any animal?
They feel pain, hunger, thirst.
I also heard that some families they sell their pets when they are getting old to get slaughtered. How? The animals have been so kind and helpful to them and then they get slaughtered for money? Sold for money to people who will treat them like those on this video?
I have a friend telling me that she looked an animal cruelty film posted by me on Facebook and that she will not look again my videos. But that doesn’t change the fact that the animals suffer and when nobody cares it will go on for ever. We must create awareness so that this has to stop.
This actions should be stop! It was a terrible actions just to fulfil the eater desire ! Why keep torture the dogs and cats and even eating them. we urge everyone to stop this cruelty actions.!
Modernisation without spirituality leads humans to become cold and barbaric. This group of people who sell dogs under such inhumane conditions is just one of the many groups out there who are still abusing animals. More media coverage of animal abuse should be done to pressure the Chinese govt and other govts around the world that do not protect animals to start making it a law to protect animals.
This is disheartening that human beings are incapable of caring for animals but rather exploiting the resources provided by them by causing mass genocide of these innocent creatures.
Ignorance is very high in humans, we are so selfish. THINK PEOPLE! ABOUT THEM! Animals have lives too! I am a proud vegetarian. Please become vegetarian today. Thank you for sharing Rinpoche.
I hate the sight of this. I don’t like seeing animals being treated this way. Its cruel and should not be happening. So my opinion is that this needs to stop now, people should take care and love animals instead of hurting them. I hope that many people have the same comments.

The Chinese people has a saying that they can eat anything that has its back facing the sky. From young, they already been told they can eat anything, without realising what are the harms that they have brought to these poor animals. They are not only causing pain and suffering to animals, they are accumulating negative karma for themselves.
Hope that China Government can create some awareness on animal cruelty and stop the consumption of dog meat and also animal fur trade. Anti-Animal Cruelty Law has be in place ASAP to stop more harming done on animals.
Dog is man’s best friend. All of us should do our part to help share this out and sign on the petition to help our best friend.
In Chinese(Mandarin), there is a phrase, “mei-ren-xing”, literally, “no human sense/nature”, which we use to describe people who are exceedingly wicked. As human beings, we are not supposed to be so cruel. i feel exceedingly sad and sorry for the people who promote such an unwholesome activity. Thank you, Rinpoche, for your untiring effort to educate people to abandon evil acts like that. As we read about the people who involve themselves in such wicked acts, let us help them make good connections by praying that they turn over a new leaf – how good it would be, if they make connections with Rinpoche’s blog, for a start!
Honestly speaking, I have tried to avoid commenting posts/articles like this as I have yet to sign the petition(yes, I am guilty of it). Sorry to say, but these scenes were not presented to us, especially me in this way when we were younger. Compassion did arise immediately after seeing these kind of posts but there was never more than that. But now it’s different. Compassion never equal to eating dead corpse/carcass! Hence, I am indeed very thankful for the constant awareness about this in this blog. The happiest thing is I have made my choice not to directly consume meat for almost a year now and hopefully I can be the example soon. I am saying this is to encourage others as I am sure there are many (like me) who are still on the crossroad. Have courage (as I am saying this to myself too)…

China is one of the country that eat dog and cat meat, I think the Chinese gorverment should really look into this matter this act is so inhuman. When reading about this post I feel really sad and angry how can we human can do that to this innocent animals no way they can protect themselves.
Indulgences are such deadly negative habits. Indulgences in satisfying weird taste-buds have led many to eat dogs and cats. Many of these animals had been the darlings of loving owners. These pets had just been stolen and then taken rudely away from their owners, deprived of food and then skinned alive!
Yes, what have we become that we will eat even dogs, which are usually much loved and kept as pets? We will even set on dog-lovers and activists who vocally fight for the cause of these dogs.
It’s a crying shame that while a group of people are saving the lives of animals even at the cost of their own lives, others like these brutes and barbarians would carry out such horrendous acts.

So much meaningless cruelty in the world. It is not in our nature to kill, when we kill and abuse animals we destroy our own humanity. The samsaric world tells us ignorance is bliss. In Buddhism, ignorance lie at the root of suffering. So much suffering caused to these animals but even more sad is the karma of those who are causing these suffering on the animals.
This is bad man, the owner even had to pay the trader to take back her dog?! What? First they steal people’s pets and now they are asking for money? Man they are ruthless psychopaths! Their faces are sure thicker than the wall, how dare they do that and still threaten to get paid? I’m really dumbfounded. It’s also sad to know that there’s nothing the owners could do except for paying ( provided that their dogs are still alive) , they cant call the police clearly, I do not understand how hard is it to ban dog meat trading when the government can ban something else that’s not so important.
These people are crazy! Why would they go and steal people pets and even wants to eat them. They really have lack kindness. Number 1. They stole people’s pets. number 2. This is terrible… not only the collect bad karma from killing the dogs… the even collect the bad karma of stealing them! So much suffering just for attachments it is almost unthinkable why people would want to keep the attachments instead of choosing the righteous and morale path. Do they not have the slightest bit of consciences within them?
It must be so horrible being born into a situation like this… some animal traders are born into families that have done it for generations and knew nothing better than a life of animal trading. However, this reminded me of a story I read… that a very high realized being was born into a family who work as butchers, and when he came of age to inherit the family business, he refused and tried to run away, but his father locked him up in his room. Refusing to live a life of nonvirtue, he let himself starve to death as there was no other option left for him to choose.
Some people would go as far as to starve themselves than kill animals… some on the other hand laugh and throw puppies in the river…
Ignorance and selfishness are the causes for such sufferings to another sentient being. The very fact that ”human beings” think that they are the only real form of life they will not see compassion, kindness and love to all sentient beings.
Ignorance not to understand Karma is so sad and if only ”human beings” know that in their next rebirth they can be one of such sentient beings, they will refrain from a lot of cruelty inflicted on all other sentient beings.
Life is suffering and we must practice compassion and kindness to all to escape from this suffering now and in the many futures ahead.
