Watch from the Heart
Would you believe? I don’t have a watch.
Well yesterday I was at a delicious Nepalese restaurant in downtown KL with a group of students, we had somethings to do around the area…. Fm a long time student of mine unceremoniously during sipping Nepalese Thukpa soup, but very lovingly presented me with a watch as a gift! I was like…..wow..thank you so much…
Fm is a simple, hardworking (now) and loyal student of over ten years with a lovely wife Wan and very cute daughter named Damey. He is not a gifts man and flowery worded person…..he doesn’t usually give gifts..but if I give an assignment he will do it.
I teased him why is he trying to get on my good side with a beautiful gift??? I know and can see in his eyes he cares for me…He is not a rich guy, but recently a small deal went through and he got this watch for me. I really like the watch…I don’t usually wear watches, but I will now..I was very touched to say frankly at such a beautiful gift… I offered it to Manjushri before officially using it.
Well I LOVE THE WATCH FOR THE MEANING BEHIND IT. When I thanked him from my heart, his eyes were wet with tears…

I’ve been with Rinpoche for 4 years now and Rinpoche is someone who will always be touched with sincere offering. It can be a paper flower, a bag of “trash”
( see – http://blog.tsemtulku.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/letters-cards-gifts/yesterday-i-experienced-true-generosity.html)
or even a stalk of rose. In general, Rinpoche feels the sincerity and effort put into a gift. And by making offerings to Rinpoche is one way which we are able to collect directly a lot of merits for us to do more.
If we can collect merits by making Dana offering as can be read the the below post, it is the same by making offerings to Rinpoche.

That was really touching! i used to give ‘unusual’ gifts, which i thought would be useful to the receiver, rather than some ‘traditional show-off gifts’, which i could ill afford anyway. i love my gifts to be able to bring a heartfelt smile to others; never mind even if it is an amused smile; just to make the receiver happy! Sometimes even a small candy or cookie given at that time of need, brings much joy. Truly, MOTIVATION is it! Let us rejoice with Fm ~ For he’s a jolly good fellow, for he’s a jolly good fellow, for he’s a jolly good f-e-l-l-o-w……..lets rejoice with him! Thank you Rinpochela, for sharing the happening – what a lovely Sunday morning to wake up to!
Benji, you are right…gifts from the heart to the heart is THE BEST. Doesn’t matter how much they cost. Thank you.
It is as the title says, “watch from the heart”.
FM has come a long way. All thanks to Rinpoche’s consistent love, guidance and care.
I truly rejoice for FM as now he knows how to value the people around him. Above all, express how much he appreciates them.
Bravo, FM!
