Yee Ling completes 100,000 water offerings!

Jan 17, 2013 | Views: 611

Yee Ling is currently residing on the outskirts of New York. She has just recently finished her 100,000 water bowl retreat! 100,000 water offerings are part of the preliminary practices to higher tantric practice… the other two are 100,000 butterlamp offerings and 100,000 prostrations.

Upon completing her 100,000 water offering retreat, Yee Ling decided to dedicate her retreat to myself, and for the manifestation of Kechara Forest Retreat and Kechara Village. Thank you very much!

Tsem Rinpoche

A beautiful bowl of fruits with yellow roses…

What a nice gift…

Dear Rinpoche,

I humbly dedicate the completion of my 100,000 water offering for your long life and success of Kechara Forest Retreat and Kechara Village. May you continue to turn the wheel of Dharma and may all who receive your wisdom strive for enlightenment for the sake of all sentient beings.

With much love,
Yee Ling

Although personally i do not know Yee Ling but i really rejoice with her achievement.
That is really a good news to know that more and more people had completed their 100000 bowls of water offering to Buddha as one of the preliminary practice.
And their achievement can encourage more people to invest more time in doing retreat or dharma work. Besides, more people doing such practice means the dharma is growing in this region.

    Thanks Rinpoche for the sharing.

Rejoice Yee Ling! This is really great effort to complete 100,000 water offerings even you are so far from Guru. Your motivation, effort, consistency and perseverance are truly inspiring!

From you, i truly learned that the physical distance is not the main issue. If our heart and motivation is correct, we will still go far in our spiritual practice. In fact, now with the online blog and social media, there is no more distance for us and no excuse for us not to learn from Rinpoche! Instead, we in KL should do even more while our Guru is so near to us.

Again, congratulation Yee Ling & rejoice in your accomplishment. May you continue advance in your spiritual journey. Hope to see you in KL too!

  14. David Lai on Jan 19, 2013 at 1:27 pm

This is a beautiful offering and it doesn’t cost any money. Anybody can do it and ultimately, it benefits yourself more than anything else. 100,000 water bowl offerings is not small feat and it is done complete with specific prayers as recommended to her by Tsem Rinpoche himself. Reading this inspires me and also may I be able to complete my preliminaries as well.

Water bowl retreat is a tremendous benefits in clearing the mind, having deeper insight into the teachings and not to mention, accumulating vast amounts of merits. When this along with the other preliminaries are completed is part of the requirements in preparation for Tantra, which is to receive Vajrayogini’s practice.

  15. Milly on Jan 19, 2013 at 12:08 pm

Rejoice for Yee Ling. With deep devotion and discipline, Yee Ling completed her 100,000 water offerings and dedicated it to Rinpoche’s long life, Kechara Forest Retreat and Kechara Village. Despite being physically far away from Kechara, this did not deter her spiritual practice. Thank you Yee Ling for being a good role model.

  17. Martin on Jan 19, 2013 at 3:47 am

This is a wonderful achievement and I congratulate Yee Ling. To make water offerings itself is not a difficult task but to have completed 100,000 water offerings requires devotion, effort and concentration and I am very glad that Yee Ling dedicated the merits to Rinpoche. In so doing she dedicated her merits to someone who can teach the Dharma to many and thereby provide them with untold benefits. It is also good to note that although Yee Ling is away, her heart is still with Kechara and she wishes to see Kechara Forest Retreat come up quickly. Thank you Yee Ling.

Everyone has their part to play for the manifestation of Kechara Forest Retreat, Yee Ling is very sincere and consistent, when she was in KL last month, she went to KFR almost everyday to volunteer, and while she’s there, she does not just sit there and relax, she really work for the whole day except break for lunch or a short break. She always look for things to do.

When she was far away, although she could not involve physically, she did her prayer and completed 100,000 water offering and dedicate to KFR. She will just involve in whatever way she can. How wonderful that she can do it.

Rejoice Yee Ling.. hope to see you again in KL 🙂

Congratulations Yee Ling! I remember talking to you about your water offering retreat and comparing procedures. I’m so happy for you for completing two very important preliminary practices. I’m still struggling with the water offering retreat I’m doing collectively with Adeline Tan and Tan Gim Lee. Our count now is 80,000 plus. We hope to finish soon. Wish us luck!

  30. Andrew Boon on Jan 17, 2013 at 10:53 pm

I rejoice for Yee Ling… though far from her teacher and Lama, she is able to keep to her commitments and practice. This is an example of true sincerity and dedication.

Every chance she gets, she will return to Malaysia to help in anyway she can. Just recently, she was back to help out in KFR… truly inspirational!

    Well done Yee Ling!!!

    Dear Yee Ling,

I am very touched to know this wonderful news!
Congratulations upon your completion of your 100,000 bowls of water offerings. What touched me the most was your dedication towards the manifestation of Kechara Forest Retreat and Kechara Village. May you complete your other two retreats swiftly as well as well as achieve more achievements in your Dharma Journey over in the United States.

Keep up what you are doing over in New York!!!
    See you soon!

In the very near future, Kechara Forest Retreat would be the perfect place for people like you to do practice and retreat! You’ve created such a good cause for KFR to establish. Thank you and congratulations to you Yee Ling! 🙂

This is a great feet. I really rejoice for Yee Ling and the amount of devotion she has towards her practices. It is really amazing how Yee Ling can do so much even though she is so far away.

Yee Ling has really offered a great offering to the Lama. The best offering to our Lama is that of a mind transformed by practice and this offering shows that Yee Ling has perseverance, integrity and consistency. Many people claim that they cannot practice the Dharma due to other commitments, Yee Ling has proved that otherwise. I REJOICE!

  35. Jean Mei on Jan 17, 2013 at 4:07 pm

    Dear Yee Ling,

I truly rejoice in your meritorious retreat 🙂 Even from afar, you think about what you can do for KFR and Kechara Village!

Just a little additional info – when Tsem Rinpoche’s biography team went to the United States in 2010, Yee Ling joined us. She was able to visit the temples Tsem Rinpoche went to as a child, and all of his family members and high school friends.

Yee Ling, hope to see you complete the other 2 sets of preliminary practices! 😛

    See you on Facebook! lol

    xx

Congratulations to Yee Ling for completing the 100,000 water offerings. What a wonderful offering to Rinpoche! The best offering to our Lama is that of a mind transformed by practice and this offering shows that you have commitment, perseverance and consistency. Many people say they cannot commit to the preliminary practices because they have other commitments but i hope that your achievement will inspire them and show them that anyone can do it, we just have to set our mind to do it!

Look forward to seeing you back in KL again!

    Dear Yee Ling,

I am very impressed and happy to hear such wonderful news. From the last conversation with you in KFR, I know that you always travel here and there. You even came to volunteer in KFR end of last year. It really amaze me that you have completed 100,000 water offering. You must have a strong determination and self discipline.

Thank you Yee Ling, you inspire me a lot. Hope to see you again in near future. I am sure I still have many things to learn from you other than how to take care of flowers and plants. It was such a nice experience talking with you.

    Take care.

  38. sarah on Jan 17, 2013 at 3:13 pm

Wow, very nice to see one of Rinpoche’s student, Yee Ling, whom although live physically far from Rinpoche, but always have Rinpoche close to her heart and mind. True Guru devotion do not matter where we reside, it is a matter of practice and following one’s Guru instructions and advice to further our spiritual practice.

Yee Ling is a wonderful woman. I have had the fortune to meet her a few times when she came back to Malaysia, a very nice lady and I’m truly looking forward to see her the next time she comes back home.

Such a sincere offering to Rinpoche. The highest offering one can give our Guru is through practicing the Dharma and transforming. Thank you Yee Ling, for being such a wonderful spiritual aspirant

This is wonderful news and I’m so happy to hear of how well Yee Ling is doing even though she’s far away. Recently, when she was back in KL for a few weeks, she was also physically up in KFR almost every day to help with volunteer and plant works there. So it’s nice to see how she does prayers from afar from KFR and then also contributed physically to its growth.

We miss you Yee Ling and you are very much a part of us even if you’re in New York. See you soon back in KL again. Lots of love x

Rejoice for Yee Ling. I sounds easy, but to make 100,000 water offerings needs one’s patience and perseverance; but this practice is powerful for us to collect merits to support our practice. I rejoice again for Yee Ling…

I am happy to hear such a wonderful news. To complete 100,000 water offering is no small feat. Completing it means we are willing to give our time, our effort, our dedications for the Dharma. This is something everyone can do at their home with a family and children with a job. It creates more discipline and perseverance for ourselves. At end the one who benefitted the most is us because we develop the good qualities in us because we are offering to an enlightened being, a Buddha.

    Animal Rights and Human Wrongs
“Ask the experimenters why they experiment on animals, and the answer is ‘Because the animals are like us.’ Ask the experimenters why it is morally OK to experiment on animals, and the answer is: ‘Because the animals are not like us.’ Animal experimentation rests on a logical contradiction.”
    -Professor Charles R. Magel

How would you like to wake up to a day where you have no pain, fear, anxieties, stress and you are left alone to enjoy the air, earth, sunshine, fresh foods, friends and natural environment?

After years of losing her babies and pumping out milk for humans – when the cow is too tired and weak this is how her life will end —Animals in this condition are known in the meat and dairy industry as “downers.” According to the industry’s own statistics, each year, millions of chickens, turkeys, pigs, and cows arrive at the slaughterhouse either dead or too sick or injured to walk. The animals be…come severely crippled or ill after a lifetime of abuse in factory farms and a very difficult journey to the slaughterhouse, during which they are shipped through all weather extremes without any food or water. Factory farms don’t provide individualized medical care or humane euthanasia to sick animals: It’s cheaper to let the animals suffer and eventually die. The suffering caused by the meat, egg, and dairy industries’ cost-cutting measures is enormous.

Back in 2009, Tsem Ladrang in Kuala Lumpur had an aviary which was 40ft by 7ft in the garden. It was built in a way to allow the birds to stretch their wings and fly around. The aviary had lots of fresh water, fresh food, Dharma music playing in the background, many natural wooden perches, mirrors, hanging toys, ropes, uncovered space for rain to enter etc. It was a great place to rescue and rehabilitate many, many birds… like a mini sanctuary in the city!

The birds in the Ladrang aviary are not released as they are quite tame and would probably not survive outside. However, wild birds that come to us injured will be nursed back to health and released back to nature.

At Kechara Forest Retreat, we have an aviary that is right next to the Ladrang. The aviary is over 15 feet in height and over 4000 sq ft!! It built in such a way that it didn’t destroy the original jungle land and trees, but it’s enclosed to protect the birds from other animals like boars, snakes and dogs. It also has some natural pools of water, and lots of toys and mirrors to keep them active, and the floor of the aviary is soft sand so if they choose to land on the ground, which is safe from predators, they don’t have to stand on hard concrete. The very best that we can do is to create a living environment that is most similar to their natural environment.

Check out the video on the aviary, a few pictures of the birds and the aviary, and a short description of each bird for anyone who’s interested at http://bit.ly/2VPy2to

    Wonderful Korea – Gyeongsang

This is the land where folklores, tales of heroes, and the ancient history of the Korean imperial kingdom are well-preserved. During the Joseon dynasty, Daegu was the provincial capital, and was the origin of the Silla Kingdom that ruled for almost a thousand years. Gyeongsang may no longer be the capital, but it continues to play an important role in modern day Korea, with half of the country’s presidents coming from this region.

This is really something that will touch your heart and you will be amazed how much love and patient some people have.

On a daily basis, there are many stories on the Internet of how animals are abused and neglected. A few days ago, I came across a story that I wanted to share with all of you…

A man in the UK, Leighton Naylor, felt sorry for his goldfish when he became ill and unable to swim. Instead of discarding him, and getting a new fish… he made him a life jacket!

When I read about this story of Einstein the goldfish, I was so touched by Naylor’s kindness! I love fishes too, and have many in my Ladrang. They are very smart and will come near me whenever I’m about to feed them… very cute.

Naylor who treats all of his pets as a family member couldn’t bear to see poor Einstein in such a state… so he did something about it. It’s amazing how true care can bring out within us strength and creativity. I guess that’s why those who care always manage to find a way to make a positive difference in other people’s lives.

Do read this touching story of Naylor and his friend Einster at http://bit.ly/2BiZMx5

Sometimes you come across someone so unusual, don’t complain, don’t expect others to do things for them and just get things done themselves. These types of people amaze me! This man, Mr. Leo Grillo is an exceptional human being and he uplifts my spirits. I pray and wish him a very long life and admire his compassion. Mr. Grillo is a real hero!

Many people like dogs or animals, but rarely will they get out of their comfort zones or commitments to do something more. Some I understand have genuine commitments they can’t escape. When we don’t want to do something, we can come up with all types of excuses that seem valid or we make them valid. When we want to do something, we just get it done without blame or name.

China is a very blessed place for Buddhists. There are four sacred places in China of the four different Buddhas. Mount Wu Tai is the abode of Manjushri; Mount Hua Yan is he abode of Ksirtigarbha; Mount E-mei is the abode of Samantabhadra; Mount Pu Xian is the abode of Chenrezig (Guan Yin).

Throughout history, many highly attained masters had made pilgrimage trips to these sacred mountains to pray, do retreat and pay homage to the Buddhas. These places are charged with lots of positive energy.

When we go to these places, we should make very good motivations and aspirations. The energy here might help to open our good karma to walk on the spiritual path or change our life for good.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

Look at the poor baby chasing after the mother. Why do we do that to them? It's time to seriously think about our choices in life and how they affect others. Be kind. Don't break up families.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
