Bear: “The Tiger’s My Friend!”

May 29, 2013 | Views: 766

I saw this video on Facebook today, and thought that I should share it with my blog readers.

In Georgia, there is a wild animal rescue center called Noah’s Ark. The sanctuary was created to provide a home for abused, unwanted, and orphaned children and animals. How beautiful…

Noah’s Ark has been on global news lately, as 3 of their rescued wild animals have become best friends. It doesn’t seem very interesting at first, until you watch the video and realize that the 3 bestfriends are an American black bear, a lion and a Bengal tiger! They all play, eat and cuddle together in the same pen!

The 3 different animals were rescued 12 years ago, when they were just little cubs. They were abused and neglected by drug dealers. When they were rescued by Noah’s Ark, each had gone through very bad physical experiences… The bear had grown into his harness, and it was so deeply embedded into his skin that it had to be surgically removed!

Leo (the lion) Baloo (the bear) and Shere Kahn (the tiger), have become to close that when the trainers try to separate them, they would all act out. They are only happy when they are together hehe

Do take a look at the video below!

Amazing the watch the video. Have never thought 3 huge and supposedly wild animals can live together and so closely. They give me a feeling of a family living together and taking care of each other. Hope this will awake all people not to abuse animals as they are just like human, they have feelings.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article.

Amazing ….3 different animals lion, tiger and bear happily living together.Such a harmoneous combination can play, eat and cuddle together in the same area.It shows that animals do have feelings too. They were little cubs when rescued as they were abused, neglected by drug dealers.Since then they become best friends.A good lesson for us to learn ,we can live happyly as a big family when we are caring, loving kind and respect each other .
    Thank you Rinpoche for sharing.

  3. Valentina Suhendra on Apr 18, 2017 at 7:26 am

What a beautiful story of 2 tigers and a bear who became friends. This is another proof that animals have feeling too. They want to live in peace and be happy. It is their circumstances that make them fierce, for survival purposes.

I sincerely wish that humans and animals can treat each other with respect and kindly. One of the ways to do so is to be vegetarian and reduce the use of animal products. Or if you have resources to do so, do adopt neglected animals/ strays and treat them well. The world will become a much beautiful place when this happens.

  4. Phng Keng Hwa on Mar 25, 2015 at 9:18 pm

    Dear Rinpoche,

This is really interesting, showing that friendship really knows no bounds. 🙂
They must have had a deep karmic connection in a past life. And to be able to still be together now, the connection must really be strong. 🙂 We should all be like them, actually. We should all be friends, despite being a different race, religion or skin colour. I hope that Noah’s Ark is still functonal today and will be for a very long time.

    Your humble student,
    Keng Hwa.

This is so heartwarming, i’m amazed that two of the most dangerous species can get along so well, they are like a family, best friends. Sometimes we really need to learn from them, they are able to teach us the values of life through their small actions. Thank You for sharing Rinpoche.

  6. Carmen K on Jul 21, 2013 at 4:26 am

This is extremely cute. Three different species of animals can bond so well together whereas just the one species of human beings can have so many fights and disagreements between one another. Why is the human mind so complicated? What is the core to which the problems arise from?

Anyways, nice to see three great predators showing the way to co-existing in a peaceful and happy manner

  8. Vinnie Tan on Jun 22, 2013 at 6:57 pm

It is great how these animals can look past their differences and just love and care for each other.

This story is just amazing. It made me think why sometimes the human beings cannot be like them. Look pass the differences that we may have and be good friends, caring and loving each other.

I believe that if all of us are able to do that, there will be lesser fights, wars, or even troubles around our lives.

  9. Albert Ratchaga on Jun 22, 2013 at 11:48 am

Oh my.. how sweet they are, living together harmoniously. Animal may be simple minded, they live on their instinct, but animal also know what’s best to be with, when they find the place comfortable, when they felt your sincerity, they will be loyal to you no matter what, there is not a single chance that they will change their mind or betray you.

Whereas compare to human, mind games, fighting each other to gain self benefit, betraying best friend to climb higher, and even to the extend of killing the people around them to treat their jealousy or hatred. If Human can learn from animal to be in harmony, this world will be such beautiful.

  10. mitra on Jun 19, 2013 at 9:45 pm

It amazing this article is so nice.It goes to show that even animals of different species can come together and be friends. What a really nice and heart tuching story.

  11. Cliff on Jun 13, 2013 at 3:05 pm

Three of some of the most violently portrayed animals in the animal kingdom are capable of living together and showing love for each other. It goes to show that environmental influences can really affect any living sentient being. Its so cool to see the three of them living together and being unable to live without each other. They really show close connection with each other. Its said to learn from this story that humans are the bad guys when we are considered to me civilized that these animals show more compassion than the drug dealers. I’m glad that the bear, tiger and lion are in good health and are happy. Good job to these guys who rescued them. I hope people who watch this video or read this article would learn from it to treat animals better and that even the most wildest violent of ‘beast’ can still live amongst each other in harmony and take care of each other, when we who are considered more civilized should act only better. Thank you for sharing this article Rinpoche.

This is such a warm hearted video and post hehehe…how sweet that 3 different fierce animals become good friend. Lovely and amazing!!! It shows that they are no differences from Human besides on form.
Thank you for this beautiful post Rinpoche 🙂 Its really made my day! 🙂

It’s a lovely video of how animals care, love and understand each other. It goes against the norms where in its regular habitat it would pounce and eat for survival.
A loving, caring and understanding environment yields a life full of harmony and kindness. A good example for the world to follow suit.

  16. Jay Jae on Jun 4, 2013 at 5:11 pm

omigawd! I think I would prolly eat up my siblings in a fight more than the three of them! These animals must have had relied on each other for a very long time for survival to be so close with each other. This is really amazing!

  17. Pastor Susan on Jun 4, 2013 at 12:56 pm

This video makes my day and I will certainly be returning here again and again to watch it….to remind myself that no matter what differences I encounter each other and the hostility, inhumane, cruel, selfish and all forms of negativities experienced can be overcome.

Even fierce predators can put aside their natural instincts to be violent. I do think also that the environment plays a very big part in fostering this gentle nature in them.

I wish and pray that everyone have a conducive environment to bring about the good in you.

  18. beatrix ooi on Jun 3, 2013 at 11:28 pm

This is really an awesome and heartwarming video, it’s amazing to see them messing around with each other. It is a really wonderful and unbelievable friendships they have there. The most awesome thing is that, they are wild animals and they are living happily among themselves. It’s a great thing to see..
    Thank You for sharing Rinpoche.

  19. Joy on Jun 3, 2013 at 10:43 pm

Oh my gawwwd… this is so unbelievably sweeet and cuteeee! Now if anyone who dares say that animals do not feel… they really need to be re-educated and be given video like this to watch!

This is really amazing how 3 different killer animals can literally become friends and show so much close affection to each other more than some of us humans could. Some of us cannot even get along with each other for a day!

Again here we see nature showing is what is love and compassion and that harmony with all sentient being can exist if we wanted it to happen! I truly hope our KAS (Kechara Animal Sanctuary) can manifest quickly with sponsors who are will to help us obtain a land.

  20. tenzin llhamo on Jun 3, 2013 at 10:35 pm

Wow! Love this post! The 3 animals are awesome together! Although they were abused when they were young yet they learned to grow up and live with each other. Not only that, they have grown to love each other as well. I am happy that they are safe, well and enjoying each other’s company! Thank you Noah’s Ark for saving and taking care of them.

  21. Lucas Roth on Jun 3, 2013 at 8:17 pm

This is amazing because it is so nice to know that these people save many animals and that three of their animals are best friends and that are so deadly to humans and themselves! They have come through so painful pasts and yet so nice to each other, wow. I hope that they save many more animals in the future and make many more abused animals happy.

  22. Jessica Yap on Jun 3, 2013 at 6:05 pm

Awwwww.. too cute! Love truly knows no bounds! Such a heart warming friendship. I would like to adopt them as pets! hehe. I’d name them Kitty, Kat, and Pooh! =D

Jokes aside, I really applaud Noah’s Ark for starting something so wonderful which benefits so many others. Orphans and animals.. beautiful!

and when KFR is complete, we would have our very own ‘Noah’s Ark’ too! 😉

Thank you for sharing, Rinpoche. I love the video!

  23. uncle eddie on Jun 2, 2013 at 6:04 pm

Three of the rescued wild animals, the american black bear, a lion and a bengal tiger, were put together for 12 years in Georgia wild animal rescued centre to play, eat and cuddle together in some pen, and today they have become best of friends! They have learned to live with sympathy, love and compassion for each other under close supervision, without exception. They have now developed an open-heart, truly loving and compassionate to each other. This geniune feeling for the well-being of each other, is in fact a neccessity goal for every living being through-out the universe to achieve for the peace and happiness for all beings.

  24. Low KHJB on Jun 2, 2013 at 4:03 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for the sharing. It is really amazing how they could get along so well.In time of need they were brought together and when they grew up they remember their friendship for life. How nice if we could appreciate our relative and friends just as much. Many a times human relationship will break up due to small misunderstandings and at times due to greed. We humans still have a lot to learn and Dharma is the best source of Guidance.

  25. pavara on Jun 1, 2013 at 11:04 pm

Its so amazing to see three wild animals live together without fighting or hurting each other.
These animals are all equal sentient beings.
This post also proves that animals are smarter than us,because they know when is the right time to fight and what is not the right to fight.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this post.

It’s so wonderful to see a bear, a tiger and a lion becoming friends and living together in harmony. This is so touching…

Thanks to Noar’s Ark who rescued them from abused by drug dealers. Now they have a safe sanctuary to live amongst their friends.

Dear Rinpoche, for some people who never heard of this news they would probably say this ‘This is insane! How could a tiger, a bear and a lion become best friends?’ But still I was really amazed when I read this article. I wish there will be more news like this and may more people learn to be more humble to each other by watching this video.

  30. grace (KHJB) on May 31, 2013 at 6:50 pm

Amazing the three animals can become “good friends”. from the video they look like a family and touch to each other.it really touching .

    Dear Rinpoche,

What a really nice and heartwarming story…

It amazing how 3 animals, 2 from the open wilderness and one from the lush green forest united to gather to be a group of friends…. or the (BLT).

Though animals are graded lower than us the seem to be much smarter then us….. why??? This is because just in this Blog I have read so many heartwarming stories on a dog saving 4 kittens lifes, animals that tend to fight together are friends, dogs and animals saving the lives of humans and so many other stories.

Though they are a few stories of people saving dogs and animals i still think that I have read and heard of more stories of the strangest combination of animals being friends.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this very heartwarming story!!!

    Love
    Jutika

isn’t this like the Christian heaven – Isaiah 11:6-9 (New International Version) – 6 The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. 7 The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. 8 The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper’s nest. 9 They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.

This verse above also sounds like Pemako http://blog.tsemtulku.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/art-architecture/pemako-vajrayoginis-sacred-body.html

Perhaps it just shows that the world’s religions are really more similar than we think 🙂 The root of it all is peaceful and harmonious living together… no angst, no confrontation, no stress, no pain – just love.

  33. tenzinkhenchen on May 30, 2013 at 1:02 pm

This is so awesome. It goes to show that even animals of different species can come together and be friends. Why can’t humans, who are of the same species stay friends? Shame Shame to the humans.

This also shows that animals have a higher intelligence than some humans.. Humans are supposed to be a higher species but why our minds are lower than animals? This is due to the poisonings of material gain.

These two animal friends have nothing to gain from each other and that is how they become true friends!

  34. Lim (KH JB) on May 29, 2013 at 10:40 am

Wow this article is so awesome, it show that all sentient beings is equal and can stay peaceful with each others all the time.

Just like human beings, who you always connect to will easily make u as same with them.

As in Advice From Atisha’s Heart ” Avoid activities that are said to be meritorious, but which in fact are obstacles to Dharma.” so that we able be the better person with the RIGHT friends or environment…

This is a very useful teaching on how to deal with our negative emotion especially anger. Anger causes a lot of problem to us. To know if we have anger is to examine if we have patience. When we are impatience, it is a sign of anger. I never thought these two emotions are related but it actually make sense.

When we are impatience, we cannot tolerate other people’s fault. Then we get angry with the things they do or say. Our impatience could be caused by our arrogance of thinking we are better. If we really are better, we should be patience to pass and share the knowledge with others. There might be people who have the attitude problem, but this is not something we can change. What we can change is how we feel and perceive.

Ram is a Nepalese staff working in Tsem Ladrang for many years. He is hardworking, friendly and polite. His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche always sees Ram as part of the big family.

In mid-2016, Ram’s wife in Nepal who was pregnant for 7 months suddenly developed complications, she had to go for operation due to dislocation of the baby in the womb. Ram’s wife and baby were very weak and in dangerous condition, the doctor had no choice but to operate and take out the baby. The doctor …even said EITHER the wife or the baby would survive.

Ram was very worried and informed Tsem Rinpoche immediately, Rinpoche’s divination showed that both the wife and the baby would survive, and immediately instructed pujas to be done and candles to be lit for both the wife and the baby for a few days. Rinpoche also instructed Ram to recite Dorje Shugden’s mantra strongly to pray for protection for his wife and baby.

Founded in 1790, Beijing (Peking) Opera has been the main form of Chinese entertainment for over 200 years. It all started when the Four Great Anhui Troupes went to Beijing to perform for the Imperial Court, with the royal families present. Although in this time and age, this beautiful national art form has to compete with blockbuster films, TV drama series, home-made internet films, MTV music videos etc …many, many people in Beijing and most parts of China still appreciate it.

The Chinese government encourages the younger generation to participate in Beijing Opera, and like Wang Tao Yang (aka “Wonder Kid of Peking Opera”) many of the younger kids seem to have a natural ability for it.

Manjushri, whose name means ‘Gentle Glory’ or ‘Sweet Splendor’ in Sanskrit; ‘Wen Shu Shi Li’ (文殊师利)in Chinese; ‘Monju Bosatsu’ in Japanese; ‘Moosoo Posal’ in Korean; ‘Jampel-yang’ in Tibetan) is one of the most important Bodhisattvas in the Mahayana and Vajrayana traditions.

Manjushri is also known as ‘Manjugosha’ (the Gentle-Voiced One); ‘manju’ refers to how the continuum of his life has been rendered ‘gentle’ by his grasp of transcendental wisdom, and ‘gosha’ refers to his perfect ability to communicate the Dharma verbally and in written form, in which he destroys illusions, delusions and ignorance that keep all sentient beings within samsara.

Tai chi is a mind-body practice that involves a series of slow, flowing exercises that combine movement, meditation, and rhythmic breathing. Although it was initially developed as a martial art, it’s commonly practiced as a form of “moving meditation.” According to the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, tai chi’s movements can help stimulate the flow of vital energy (also known as “chi”) and, in turn, promote healing from a variety of health conditions.

Many practitioners of tai chi use this technique to enhance physical and mental health, as well as to improve posture, balance, flexibility, and strength. In addition, tai chi is said to boost mood, alleviate pain, strengthen the immune system, and improve heart health.

Thank you Pastor Jean Ai for sharing the importance of making offering to Buddha. Many would not put priority on making offering on the altar as preference is always spending the money for ourselves. But we didn’t realise that making offering is directly helping us in our spiritual path and we would be able to generate merits through this process. We should always remind ourselves not to be stingy in making offering but be very generous instead.

A revelational read about the ugly politics of Potala. Contrary to the general belief of the untouchable holy status of the Dalai Lamas; they were frail and disposable, especially during their younger years. Based on records, it seemed that during those centuries, it was obvious that if the Dalai Lamas succumbed to the control of the upper few like the Regent and the serf lords, he would live long and prosper. If he had a mind of his own or had ideas to reform, then he would be eliminated. Imagine, if the holiest of the holy had not to exchange his free will for survivor and acceptance by the upper few, leave alone the life of others and the commoners. Thank you for this article.

Anger can cause many problems to us. It is scary to know sometimes we don’t even feel we are an angry person. We wonder why people are walking away from us, the truth is no one wants to be near us because we are angersome, people cannot get along well with us.

We have to always observe our mind, don’t let our anger eats us up. We are always kind to people we love but we cannot give the same kindness to people who are not related to us or who we don’t like. In order to cultivate kindness, we have to learn to be kind to everyone, regardless if they are kind to us or related to us.

Buddhist teachings arrived in the country known today as Indonesia in the 2nd Century CE. Buddhism is the second oldest religion after Hinduism in this region. For the most part, Hinduism and Buddhism co-existed peacefully in Indonesia. Before their arrival, the people in this region believed in animism, the belief in the supernatural power of Mother Nature. They regarded trees and stones as sacred objects and used these for worship to connect with their higher power.

The Buddhist influence was first introduced by the traders and missionaries from Eastern India who travelled to this region via the ancient maritime Silk Road or Silk Route, a route that spanned from China to the Mediteranian Sea and was central to trading and cultural interaction. Over the centuries, for 2,000 years, the traders and missionaries who travelled along the Silk Road played a strategic role in the dissemination of religious beliefs across Eurasia. The traders often built shrines and temples of their own faith during their travels in order to worship their own gods.

One of the many fascinating and historical festivals in Malaysia is the Nine Emperor Gods Festival. This festival takes place from the first to ninth day of the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar.

Throughout this nine-day festival, adherents observe a strict vegetarian diet, meditate, study scriptures, interact with fellow vegetarians, and make donations to the temples to show their devotion to the gods. During this festival, many hawkers and vendors set up stalls around the town to sell food and prayer supplies. Many devotees also take this opportunity to donate to various rituals and ceremonies in order to maintain luck, to dispel bad luck, and to show appreciation for the good luck they received in the previous year.

Among the many countries around the world, Sri Lanka is known for its rich Buddhist culture and heritage. It is where the the ancient city of Polonnaruwa is located, a place where kings ruled Sri Lanka’s central plains more than 1,000 years ago. It was a thriving commercial and religious city from the 11th to the 13th centuries, and the ancient city has many precious relics and Buddha statues.

The ancient city of Polonnaruwa has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO as it is one of the best planned archaeological relic sites in Sri Lanka, a reputable testimony to the greatness of its first rulers. Brief Garden is a hidden paradise in Kalawila Village, located approximately 10 km (6.2 mi) from the resort town of Bentota in Sri Lanka. The garden and the house on the estate was the residence of the famous architect and landscape designer, Bevis William Frederick Bawa (Bevis Bawa) (1909 – 1992). Bevis Bawa was also a military officer by profession, and he served as the personal secretary (Aide-de-camp) to four Governors of Ceylon (the present day Sri Lanka) during the British colonial era.

Brief Garden is a delight for those who love nature. When visitors walk into the garden, they will be able to enjoy the jungle feel of the garden and its unique sculptures. The house on the estate is cosy and comfortable. Bevis Bawa built the premise with care and the intention to make it his retirement home.

Malaysian weddings are diverse, unique and colourful affairs, as is to be expected in a country that is a melting pot of cultures and faiths. Generally speaking, wedding customs in Malaysia are determined based on the couple’s race, religion or both. As a large percentage of Malaysians are Malays, and given that Malaysia’s constitution provides that all Malays are to be Muslims, Malay weddings are typically steeped in Malay traditions and solemnised according to the tenets of Islam.

How we feel should not be affected by what others say about us. Everyone has a different expectation and perception of things. Their comments on us are purely based on their perception, it may be true and it may not be true.

Our motivation might be misunderstood, but it should not matter. At the end of the day, we create our own karma. If we react to negative comments with negative emotion and behaviours, we are the one who lose out. We should always remember what the 8 verses of mind transformation say, give the victory to others.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche
