Dear Tsem Rinpoche,

First of all thank you so much for giving out a chance to let your blog readers to win a Menlha statue. I would like to write in to request a statue on behalf of my grandmother, Teoh Siew Yong. All along she has been healthy and stays vibrant even after the passing of my grandfather. However, ever since she went to the United States to visit my aunt for few months, her health deteriorated a lot after she comes back to Malaysia. All she did was just sleeping and lying on the bed and things gets worse when she is diagnosed with Parkinson. Within a short period of few months, gradually she can’t do things normally she can like cooking, washing, goes around the market and even take a bath.

Few months back, I commented in one of the section of Rinpoche’s blog, seeking for guidance and any ways spiritually to help my grandma’s health condition. I remember, it was Jean Ai who took effort in communicating with me, clarify everything which I need to do and chant. I followed Rinpoche’s instructions e.g Menhla prayers, Amitayus, Protector Incense offering and others. Truth to be told, after I did that, my grandma’s health improved. Although she is still weak and unable to bath on her own, at least she has the energy to eat and walk a short distance.

Ah Ma

Last month my parents went for an annual consultation by a local medium in a local temple back in Ipoh, she told my parents she may pass away this year (2013). I am very very afraid and I couldn’t afford to lose my grandma. The reason why it bothers me a lot is because she said the same thing about my grandfather and indeed he passed away that year itself.

Your eminence Tsem Rinpoche, I read your blog all along and I do know you care a lot for your relatives and parents as well and you always gave the best to them and even your disciples. I feel there is a strong connection and I do feel that your kind advice and instructions to pray for my grandma long life really effective and I wanted to do more for her. Through email I told Jean Ai I wanted to invite a Medicine Buddha so I can do daily offering and prayers dedicated to my grandma. However, its kind over budgeted and I am trying to safe up for one. I decided to write in as I saw there is a chance to get a free Menhla statue and it will be wonderful if I have the good karma to receive one.

Nevertheless, I want to thank Tsem Rinpoche for giving me the instructions to follow for my grandma long-life and health, and I will dedicate the prayers to you as well in order to continue to spread the seeds of Dharma in Malaysia and other parts of the world.

With prayers,
Jonath

Dear Jonath, hope that you and your parents are doing well and that your grandmother is healthy. Glad to know that you’ve received the statue, may the statue bless you grandmother so that she may have a good health and long life. Thank You for sharing your story with us.

Dear Jonath, I’m glad to have met you when you came to Kechara House to attend the Menlha puja last Wednesday. I guess you had to leave half way because your ‘Uncle Taxi’ was waiting for you.

Yes, it is touching to see that you have such deep love for your Ah Ma. She looked after you when you were young and it is only right that you remember her kindness and are repaying it. Furthermore, you are repaying that kindness in the best possible way, by praying for her, and winning a Medicine Buddha statue to take home for you to pray for her and for her to be blessed in her mind-stream by making a connection with Him.

As someone has already suggested, it will be good for your Ah Ma to recite Om Mani Padme Hum or Medicine Buddha’s mantra. The mantras have the power and blessings of the Buddha deity, who has collected three aeons of merits by accumulating them through virtuous actions and from abandoning non-virtuous actions. It is good to recite these mantras as they are calming and will help your Ah Ma to develop a calm and peaceful mind. This is important for her at this point and will help and benefit her tremendously in her last moments.

I look forward to your coming to Kechara House again.

    Dear Jonath Goh,

It is very sad to hear that your grandmother is sick and suffering in pain…

It is very good for you to seek advice from H.E Tsem Rinpoche through Jean Ai and then following exactly what he has asked you to do.

You see Jonath, whatever Rinpoche advises people to do and they follow there is a guaranty that whatever or whoever you are praying for their suffering will either be decreased or in some cases the sickness/suffering would totally be gone.

I feel very touched that as a grandson you have been so kind and patient to your Ah Ma and I see through that there is no reason why you should not have the good Karma to win a free Medicine Buddha statue.

Also to me your motivation was a very true motivation to win the statue not to save your money or to benefit yourself but because you wanted to help your Ah Ma recover quickly as well as because saving up enough money would probably be too long.

Thank you Jonath Goh for sharing your story about your Ah Ma and congratulations on winning a Medicine Buddha Statue.

My prayers for your Ah Ma’s swift recovery!

    With much prayers
    Jutika Lam

    Hi Jonath,

I’m really glad you have received a statue…you had the merits to be around and have your long-standing wish fulfilled! I hope you will make plenty of offerings and dedicate it to your grandmother’s health (maybe you can use the money you were saving to get the statue in order to do this?). Your love for her means you are best placed to create plenty of merits for her, especially since she cannot do it herself 🙂

You are truly a loving and caring grandson. When you were young she must have taken good care of you, now that she is old and helpless you want the best for her and I am glad that you won a blessed Medicine Buddha for her. That is the best gift you can give your grandma along with following Rinpoche’s instructions to do Menhla, Amitayus prayers and offering Protector Incense for her speedy recovery.

I sincerely hope all will be well for your grandma.

    Dear Jonath,
Firstly, congratulations on your winning. How blessed to be able to receive a blessed statue frm Rinpoche. I rejoice for you and your grandma. You’re such a kind and thoughtful grandchild.
Like what Rinpoche has said previously, the best gift we can give our loved ones is not lavish gifts, but the gift of Dharma.

Rinpoche is always so kind and compassionate! Creatin this ‘contest’ is just another one of Rinpoche’s many, many creative ways to bring Dharma to us.. How fortunate and blessed we are to be able to meet Rinpoche and the Dharma. =)

May you and your family be blessed and protected by the 3 Jewels always..

    Thank you for sharing, Rinpoche!

Thank you Jonath for sharing your story. I can really feel your sincerity in relating to us your feelings towards your grandmother. I can also feel your love for her. You are a filial grandson. The prayers that you do everyday and dedicate to her is the ultimate gift you can give her.

Congratulations on winning a Medicine BUddha Statue and may Buddha bless and heal your grandmother.

Thank you Jonath for sharing your story with us, your story told us clearly how filial you are, you want nothing for yourself but the best health possible for your Ah Ma.

When we were young, we can’t do anything, our parents and grandparents are the ones who take care of us, educate us, play with us. They have spent whole life bringing us up, now they are old, it is time we repay to them, the best thing we can give them is Dharma, because Dharma is the only exit in this sea of suffering…

    Wish your grandma well Jonath.

    Dear Jonath,

Thank you for sharing the story of your grandma with all of us. You are an amazing grandson for caring for your grandma as you do now. I am very glad that you managed to win a blessed Menlha from Rinpoche.

I can understand your situation. My grandmother is also ill from Parkinsons. It is truly devastating to see her struggle with everything… from the lack of mobility, to the aching pains of her body (particularly legs) that never end because it is nerve affected. I love my grandmother very much too and she is such a gentle lady.

A few years ago, when I first know about Dharma, I encouraged my grandma to chant the mantra “OM MANI PADME HUNG”. At that time, we didn’t know that she has Parkinsons for many years and the doctors had misdiagnosed her all the while… it was only recently was she diagnosed with Parkinsons and it was already at a late stage… Being a degenerative disease, her physical body degenerated and not much improvements can be seen, i guess it is the reality of life.

However, I am very glad that although she have so much mobility problem… at the stage of her disease, she can still walk with the aid of a walking stick or when people hold on to her. And most importantly, her mind is still sharp and can hold very witty conversations with us, something I think she values very much. I am sure it was from reciting the mantra of the every compassionate Chenrezig that has helped her to maintain her current state, and she continues to chant on a daily basis.

When I read your story, it reminded me of my grandmother lol. I do miss her very much since we don’t meet so often as she lives with my aunt in a different state in Malaysia.

Thank you for caring for your grandmother so much. Just like what Rinpoche always encourage us to do… which is Dharma starts from home.

    Dear Jonath,

Thanks for sharing your ah ma’s stories with us. As a child or grands, the best thing that we can do for our elderly family members is providing them Dharma, it’s because most of them are weaker now because they have spent their whole life taking care, educate, teach, care and love us. But none of the above will help us or them during the time they need help or right before passing. Dharma is a kind of teaching that tell us the truth about samsara, which will never drag us down.

I’m so regret that during my grandma paasing, I couldn”t make it any earlier to bring her more dharma, and she passed away with a lot of anger towards my grandpa, based on the anger that arise as from my grandma right before she left, I know she will not go to a good place.

You are very lucky to have visited this blog side and started to get more involvement with Kechara or H.E. Tsem Rinpoche, since we have the merits to received the dharma, and we knows it’s good for ourselves and others, why not share with others?

Now maybe your grandma is old and weak, but as a grandson you must make sure she is psychically and mentally well take care of, just like how she take care of you when you are young.

If you want to know more about how to invite a Buddha back, here’s the linkhttp://goo.gl/YIr9w and I hope your grandma will be very fine soon.

    Thanks 🙂

    Dear Jonath,

Thank you for this sharing about your grandma’s condition. You are a very loving grandson… which tells me your grandma must have been a very kind grandma. Congratulations for winning the Medicine Buddha which I am sure will give tremendous blessing to your grandma. But we must realise the nature of karma and following Rinpoche’s advice to a “T” to help your grandma collect a lot of merits for not just this life but more importantly the next life 🙂 How lucky you are to be able to receive advice from Rinpoche!

And it is very fortunate for her that while your grandma is experiencing her karma, how fortunate she is to have a grandson that cares so much for her and is doing prayers and would dedicate merits to her as much as possible. We will surely include her in our daily prayers!

Thank you for sharing your story about your grandma. You obviously love and care very much for her and I am happy that you now have a Menlha statue for her. The best thing about the prayers you make for your grandma is that they will help her now and future lives and that is the ultimate gift for her. i will also keep you and her in my prayers. Do come back to Kechara House again! 🙂

  16. David Lai on Mar 10, 2013 at 8:31 pm

    Dear Jonath Goh,
If you had been following Rinpoche teachings for some time that he does not recommend consulting mediumes and such. Most mediums take possession of spirits and local deities and they are not reliable source of advice and help especially when it comes to the life and death of a loved on. I know there are many cases where they are known to be accurate but it is still best not to follow as they can hoodwink you to trust them and then they will show their true nature.

You see, we cannot tell for certain and they do have certain abilities to see in the future but ultimately, the cannot help us as they themselves are stuck in samsara. The best would be not to consult them at all as this would also break our refuge to the Buddha. If we sincerely want to be Buddhist, we should only seek refuge in enlightened beings. In this way, we will never be tricked by these supernatural beings.

    • David Lai on Mar 10, 2013 at 8:32 pm

I do offer you my prayers that your grandma recovers swiftly as well.

      • Jonath on Mar 10, 2013 at 8:50 pm

        Dear David,

Thank you so much for elaborate information and yes I do not consult mediums that is what my family usually do. Thanks for taking the time explaining the important implications of consulting local mediums and certainly I understand the consequences 😉

They just passed me this information which saddens me. I have requested advice from Tsem Rinpoche and I’m working on the Medicine Buddha prayers for my grandma. 😉

And lastly thank you so much its been wonderful and very very kind of you to include my grandma in your prayers! Thanks A LOT for that!

I’ve visited KH for the first time today and I am stunning to see such beautiful statues in the gompa, certainly it takes a lot of ppl and dedications to achieve/ build what it is today! seriously took my breath away !

Can’t imagine that a priest actually stabbed Pope John Paul. How can he do this when he as a priest is suppose to be compassion and love everyone but kill the religion leader. he should remember that he carries the name priest and hence must show good example and behaviour to others but instead took another person’s life.

I respected Pope John who continued his trip even though he was injured. That shows the determination he had to teach so it can benefit others. Always put others first more than our own needs.

It is admirable for Sine Lindholm & Mads Ulrik Husum to place their design as open source for everyone to download and copy to manufacture. This shows how farsighted they are in propelling self-sustainability. The first step is always the hardest, and I believe what Sine and Mads had done is towards the right direction. In this way, people from all the around the world who genuinely are passionate and interested in growing own vegetables will be able to start on their own. Without needing to rely on middleman or manufacturer who might end up making the brilliant idea a commercial white elephant. Thank you, Rinpoche for this sharing.

Many companies especially in overseas are very considerate and allow their employees to bring their dogs to work. I personally think that this is a very good practice where the employees no longer have to worry about leaving pets at home alone. The work environments that cultivate loving kindness, caring and compassion create a much more positive and productive place to work. Besides, it may influence everyone especially those who do not have pet to be more kind to the animals.

Nevertheless, the employer and employees may have to work together to maintain the safe and cleanliness work place such as reduce odour, provide clean air and many others.

Thank you for this interesting article as a reminder to us to love and be kind to animals no matter where we are.

Superb idea and very creative. Home farming in the cities ! Appreciate all the hardwork and ideas to produce Growroom. It’s just like putting a big puzzle and making the whole process so much easier to plant in cities where we always have limited spaces.

We should support more people to come up with such ideas so we can eat our own food and cultivate self sustainability.

When on the hospital bed nearing our last breath, nothing matters except for the practice and transformation we have done in dharma in our lifetime.

Our money, wishes, houses, clothes, jewelry, reputation, spouses, desires, dreams, greed, anger, possessions, explanations will be of no use at all. It will in fact even be a hindrance scratching at our mind’s energy to let go and we cannot.

Since they are no use at that momentous event, we should continue that thought now and understand what we should truly cultivate now. This thought must translate into action not just scholastic thoughts and meanderings of the mind for self deception or imitation spiritual satisfaction. This is what I think daily and everyday as part of my meditations on death and impermanence according to first chapter of Lam Rim.

Amazing and very creative architecture designed space for our home grown foods. It is a good idea for those living in the cities. The Growroom is beautifully produced made it convenience which enables people to connect with nature surrounding with plants. The smell of herbs and plants makes cities dwellers to live in happiness and healthy.
Its takes alot of effort and determination for anyone to build a growroom.Well they can do it,if they have the will power….hoping someday KFR will have one too.

This is a very informative articles on dogs in monasteries and Tibetan breed. Gonsar Rinpoche explained it very clearly on the different breeds and how dogs are taken care and live in monasteries. We should also take good care of the dogs as they are living being in different form. Hence we should take care of their food and their well beings and not treat them like an ‘item’ to reject or discard them when our selfish mind arise.

Thank you Datuk May for sharing this article. I do know some people who will only give when they have extra or only if they do not need the items. There are some who would keep giving even if they do not have much because they understand that his gift (whether it is time, resource, material, knowledge and etc) is for the benefit of others.

I think it all comes from each individual generousity, compassion and kindness. I believe all these good values can be practised and we can be better each day. We should not give up but be aware of our weakness and keep transforming to be better.

“Somehow, Rinpoche knew I did not believe in Buddhism and so he used a skillful way to give me a teaching. He said that even though I can’t see the Buddha, that does not mean that the Buddha does not exist. This is just like electricity; we can’t see electricity but when we see the lights are turned on, it proves electricity does exist. Similarly, when we see the growing Sangha community and the temples, it proves the existence of Buddha, because without electricity, there would be no light and without the Buddha, there would be no Sangha. After listening to that sound logic, I was still stuck on the need for more proof that the Buddha existed. But it made me think deeper because what Rinpoche said made a lot of sense.” – Pastor Albert Rachaga

I must thank my dharma blog team who are great assets to me, Kechara and growth of dharma in this wonderful region. I am honoured and thrilled to work with them. I really am. Maybe I don't say it enough to them, but I am saying it now. I APPRECIATE THESE GUYS VERY MUCH!

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

I am in the process of creating beautiful Dorje Shugden and Kechara Forest Retreat watches at this time. So we can take precious protector and Kechara Forest Retreat wherever we go and be blessed everytime we see what time it is.
I am perfecting the designs with a great team and will update when done but these are just some samples that arrived.

Pick the practice, devotion and precepts of Vajra Yogini\'s path over everything and anything in samsara. Samsara has nothing of value and nothing lasting to offer. You are born in suffering, live in suffering, die in suffering and enter bardo and future lives expecting more sufferings. This is not a negative way of looking at things but the truth. If the truth is negative, so it is the truth. Devote oneself to the guru, dharma work, dharma practice and bringing dharma to others compassionately. Choose to practice Vajra Yogini now with the preliminaries. You can start right now: http://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/inspiration-worthy-words/starting-on-vajra-yogini-now.html Much care, Tsem Rinpoche

Wow this meditator in his cave in front of a painting of Yamantaka draped with a white khata of respect. He sits among bones to remind him of impermanence and our future. The bones inspire him strongly to let go of all attachments in this life and focus on dharma, meditation and liberation and he is doing so. Very beautiful and inspirational. Tsem Rinpoche

Previous lives do resemble current lives especially if they are a recognized incarnation. If notice how similar the previous and current Trijang Rinpoche looks. The eyes, bone structure, expression, long neck, thin and overall look. Beautiful. I\'ve seen this phenomena over and over in many Rinpoche incarnations. Especially when you compare them with pictures of previous and current lives at around the same ages. Something powerfully karmic about this. Tsem Rinpoche

Beautiful! His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang has always been good friends with His Holiness Karmapa. No wonder H.H. Karmapa never spoke against Dorje Shugden. Two reasons perhaps: One is he knows the qualities of Trijang Rinpoche who is a attained being. And Karmapa himself has clairvoyance to perceive the true nature of Dorje Shugden directly. I love to see great beings like this manifesting closeness. When I see, I just want to prostrate to them and thank them for sharing such good examples to someone like me. Praise to the ego-less mind! Kyabje Denma Gonsa Rinpoche telling people that it is important to have guru samaya. It use to be that way in the great monasteries. We should not create problems and schisms. If we want to practice a protector, then do so, if not it's okay, but don't make trouble. One should just practice the Buddha Dharma well. To do good practice. If you have faith in Dorje Shugden and trust all the way, he will definitely help you. But most important is to practice the dharma. This is his advice in short here. It's good to let more Tibetans hear this holy speech and appeal by this very senior Rinpoche. TR
