Prove them wrong
It’s amazing how some people have never met me or know who I am, but based on a few things they read here & there & rumours, they have formulated a new personality for me & all the things I’ve never done they passionately speak about… I find it funny and entertaining now. I guess we can’t spend our lives fighting rumours… we just have to work hard & then rumours get proven wrong on it’s own as a by product. No point explaining repeatedly. Just do our work & show results!!

We cannot stop the rumours from spreading and we cannot change people’s mind who believe them . It was hard for us at first when we knew someone out there spreading rumours. But as time goes by its forgotten. I am have experienced lies and rumours and its hurts me badly years back. But not now anymore in fact I am feeling stronger and forgive them who have hurt me. Do not judge anyone based on what you heard that’s for sure. There will always be someone willing to spread rumours about us, belittle our accomplishments and maybe put us down. It is fact that we all must face. Time will definitely tell the truth , who is wrong.
Thank you Rinpoche for this teachings.
Thank you Rinpoche for your teaching.
Personally, I find it hard to bear rumours for they can be very toxic. We may lose precious friends and financial resources when the rumours are flying around.
We need to bear the pain, sometimes alone. And this can be very painful.
Yet, Rinpoche has said it right. It may simply be a waste of time and energy trying to fight them. We just have to stand upright, continue our work and let the time to show these people the truth.
Time will tell, and true friends will show up themselves. Time is always a good acid test for sincerity.
Rinpoche, with his high profile, because of his relentless push to spread Dharma everywhere for the benefit of all beings, is bound to be a magnet and a target for baseless criticism and ill-founded rumors.
Nonetheless, as Rinpoche says, “we can’t spend our lives fighting rumors; we just have to work hard and then rumors get proven wrong on its own as a byproduct. No Point explaining repeatedly. Just do our work and show results!”
As Mr Ngeow says, we(His students and friends) must play our part in quelling these rumors by positively transforming and showing everyone that Rinpoche has benefitted us tremendously. By our own examples and by moving forward(with commitment) to help realize Rinpoche’s vision and mission here do we prove them wrong.
many of us are victim of rumours, i myself have a fair share of these experience, because i do the way i do, acted the way i did, speaks the way i speak, and to many people who they found uncomfortable with the way i portray, i was being categorize as being rude, unfriendly and many others, the feeling is not nice at all, and you will try to fight back, but then i came to realized, what is the point of fighting back, when the more u fight back, the more the rumours will spread and give them the opportunity to tell others: “see, i told you so”.
the only thing we can do, is to prove them wrong, for me i can continue to being myself, but try to look deeper is there something i can change about me but still being me. and i find Rinpoche teaching about, Nothing Changes, But Everything Changes is a wonderful teaching. i learned and try applying on myself, and see some things really started to change. yet, i find that sometime when other people perceive us to be this and that, it is definitely our karma, and since i accepted it, but feel bad for those who spread the rumours, because they are collecting negative karma by doing this.
if what we do is sincere and being true to ourself, there is nothing we have to be afraid of, because people can see on their own, who is right, and who is wrong. we just need to prove them by doing our best to prove them wrong.
We are never able to make people think what we like them to think about anything or anyone. Let’s pray for those with distorted perceptions (and aren’t we all?) that they/we will develop wisdom and compassion and are able to undo us from the negative karma we collected in this way.
Why do some people see good and some only see faults? The subject in question is the same. There can only be one explanation. The viewers and their viewpoints are different. Remember the story of Asanga who never saw Maitreya though Maitreya was in front of him all the time, but only saw a mangy old dog, until he developed attainments. So if one only sees faults in a Guru, it only demonstrates their own negative karma and delusions. But of course that can change, through purification, so there’s hope.
I have a bad reaction to rumors too. It just makes me see red. I was all a hot mess before I met your teachings because people destroyed my life by spreading all kinds of nastiness about me. But they are just sad little haters, sad sitting there hating on people because they don’t have anything going for them in their own life. And I have proved them wrong. And you will too, because we are better than the petty little haters, because we have a wider vision and they have a narrow one. Stay strong. <3 terri
For a public figure like Rinpoche, there will always be people who will create rumours and gossips against him.
These people could be those who have no clue or knowledge of what’s going on with Rinpoche’s life and his work, and are lazy to find out, but just like to react at the slightest rumours because they have nothing better to do in their life. These people are usually not mindful and find much pleasure in putting people down.
Another group of people are those who have actually heard of and have a good knowledge of what Rinpoche is doing, because they could not achieve the same results, and thus out of jealousy, they will just throw in more gossips and rumours just to slander against Rinpoche’s name.
To me, Rinpoche is like a spiritual celebrity, Rinpoche is dynamic, quick, direct, and unconverntional, sometimes witty (I like this part), and there will always be the conservative , everything straight-from-the-book type of spiritual seekers who may find Rinpoche’s style too loud and outspoken, but simply because they are not in this category, does not mean Rinpoche’s style or work is bad. Just remember there are 84000 methods Buddha Shakyamuni taught to reach enlightenment……
Before I met the dharma, I always like to make comments or judgements about others, completely based on my own perceptions without knowing whether it is right or wrong. Now that I have some dharma knowledge with me, I realise how bad it is to just simply criticize, judge or pass a few causal comments that may direcly or indirectly hurt the person.
May we all practise mindfulness and refrain from creating negative speech……may our speech be always pleasant and will only bring forth harmony, peace and happiness in people’s mind.
Dearest Rinpoche, it was hard for me at first when I knew someone was spreading rumors about me, now I can’t be bothered but it makes me wonder why some people can spread such lies and do it continuously by creating so much negative karma. Now I pity and hope that they will change in time and realise the damage they have done…
As Rinpoche’s students and friends who have received all kinds of benefits from him, be it material, inspiration, blessings, wisdom, divination, transformation, kindness, reassurance, or just a warm embrace,or a timely advice, let us do our part to PROVE THEM WRONG by our examples. Our passion to share Rinpoche’s vision and mission combined with tangible results are the best remedy against baseless rumours and hearsay. Our efforts will live in the hearts of many while their empty words even if persisting will remain ..empty
I’ve read in the recent Lamrim retreat , “Our perspective follows from our karma”.. In these degenerate age, there’s no escaping samsara’s ever increasing negative karma. Many are enable to rejoice in the success of others or to see the kindness of others. But since our activities are for others and not because of others. We’ll just keep chugging along. Thank you Rinpoche for all your teachings and guidance.
Its human nature to always find fault or things to blame on. Even in actual fact its the right and sensible thing appearing before them they simply like to dismissed it and thought of it as something else. Something negative and choose to believe what they hear from other people. In reality they dont even know the truth nor try to find out the truth.
Bias thinking.
Had alot of such issue happening in my surrounding recently. Yes i did tried to fought it but in the end felt the same its just a waste of my time. So in the end dont bother about it at all.
Rinpoche,
Don’t we all make subjective judgements (project, criticize, complain) about other people and things all the time? To judge is simple but the direct/indirect experience it can afflict on others intentionally or unintentionally can be painful.
To explain ourselves can be seen to be an attempt to deny how others see us as the truth when it’s not. As long as our motivations, thoughts and actions are Dharma based, why do we need to explain to others what we are not and having to prove it with results?
One could still be stuck pondering ‘why do they say this and that..’ when the those who makes flippant comments would have long forgotten they ever made those unskilful remarks!
