The Passing of a Great Master: Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche

(By Tsem Rinpoche)

Dear friends around the world,

It is with great sadness that I have learned of the passing of such a learned master and close friend of mine, His Eminence Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche. We had been friends for many years and it was truly my honour. He was not my teacher but I have deep respect for this erudite master, his learning and practice. When I was in residing in Gaden Monastery I would see him in Gaden walking, giving classes to his hundreds of students, attending ceremonies and or joining some spiritual events quite often. We would have Dorje Shugden pujas in my house or in the monastery and I would often invite Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche to attend the pujas. He would always gladly do so and he was always friendly and had a big smile. I will never forget his big smile. I was fortunate to bring over 100 Kechara members from my centre in Malaysia to have audience with him over the years and get his blessings in Gaden Monastery, South India.

I was told that Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche decided to passed away last week on Dec 21, 2016. Before he passed, he left instructions that he would not like his body to be embalmed and placed in a special reliquary which is normal for a personage of his high esteem. He didn’t want his body to be cremated with big ceremony and placed in a stupa. He also stated that is was not necessary to look for his reincarnation. He made these instructions very clear.

He said that after his passing, people may take his body, cremate it in a simple manner, and dispose of it in a normal way. His many students in Gaden Monastery obeyed and all was done a few days ago. He left all these instructions before he passed as he was in control of when his death will be. When he finally passed away and entered into clear light, he stayed in death meditation (thukdam) for nine days. So his body stayed in meditational posture, without moving, his heart area remained warm, yet he was not breathing anymore and his heart stopped for nine days. Upon leaving death meditation, his head slumped over and his students were able to remove his body for cremation. This is a sign of a tantric practitioner who has gained high realisations. Indeed Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche of Gaden Shartse Monastery was highly a realised Buddhist tantric master. He was a very devoted student of H.H. Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, H.H. Kyabje Zong Rinpoche, Kyabje Lati Rinpoche and so forth. He spoke of them with great reverence always.

His passing is a great loss to the Gaden lineage, as he was a great master and lineage holder. I offer my prayers alongside the prayers of hundreds of his students, of which many of whom are eminent high lamas, geshes and great monks of Gaden Shartse monastery today and also in Shar Gaden Monastery.

I humbly offer my prayers and I know His Eminence Kensur Konchok Rinpoche will be greatly missed by his hundreds of students. Many were able to achieve the fruition of their studies to become Geshe Lharampa because of his tens of thousands of hours of dedicated teachings to them in his lifetime. He was tireless in giving teachings daily for over 8 hours without break and sometimes more. He was extremely passionate to give knowledge to the younger generation in order to preserve the Buddha Dharma as taught by Lord Tsongkapa. Mondays were rest days in Gaden. Even on Mondays, Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche would arrange to buy many vegetables and rice and have an abundance of food cooked up, and fed his poorer students. He took care of their bodies too. He was very much loved. He was known to be extremely loving, caring and fatherly towards his many students. He was direct with his speech yet very warm in his love and care. He was quick to scold but never held his temper long. Hundreds of students and peers respected his warm, kind and caring love. His erudite mastery of the scriptures of Panchen Sonam Drakpa and many other works by the six ornaments and two crown jewels (Nagarjuna, Araydeva, Asanga, Vasubandhu, Dignaga, Dharmakirti, Gunaprabha and Shakyaprabha. Along with them are the works of these masters such as Buddhapalita, Bhavaviveka, Chandrakirti, Shantideva, Shantarakshita, Kamalashila, Vimuktisena, Haribadra and Atisha) was legendary in Gaden, Sera and Drepung among the scholars. Everyone, I mean literally everyone knew he was so learned and yet so humble. He is a fine example of what an institution of Lord Tsongkapa such as Gaden Monastery can produce. It was my greatest honor to have known him.

I will miss him deeply, with my hands folded,

Tsem Rinpoche

Biography of H.E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche

H. E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche

H. E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche

H.E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche was an Abbot-Emeritus of Gaden Shartse Monastery and is well known for his mastery of Buddhist study and teaching. ‘Kensur’ is a title bestowed on an illustrious abbot who has retired successfully from office. Kensur Rinpoche was born in 1934 in Markham, Tibet. At the age of 13, he became ordained as a monk in a monastery located in his hometown. Upon turning 17, he travelled to Gaden Shartse Monastery in Lhasa, and studied there until the events of 1959 in Tibet, when Kensur Rinpoche managed to escape into India. In 1980, Kensur Rinpoche received the esteemed Geshe Larampa degree after years of study. This title is only awarded to scholar-monks who graduate their monastic examinations with the highest honours. After this, he entered the Gyuto Tantric College in 1985 to further his studies. In 1989, he was appointed as one of the official teachers of Gaden Shartse Monastery.

In 1996, Kensur Rinpoche was appointed Abbot of Gaden Shartse Monastery. He continued to serve as abbot for the next 5 years with great success improving the education of the monastery greatly, until 2001. Having begun his education decades ago, Kensur Rinpoche was a master from the last generation of lamas who were educated according to the monastic system of old Tibet. He is revered as a great scholar-teacher of both Sutra and Tantra, holding a life-long devotion and commitment to the way of the Dharma. Even after retiring as abbot, he continued to teach with great passion and love for his students and the preservation of Buddha Dharma. He greatly advocated meditation, preparatory practices such as prostrations coupled with learning.

Kensur Rinpoche was one of the old masters who brought the teachings and practice from Tibet to India in the 1960s, and as a former abbot, he was instrumental in re-establishing the grandeur and monastic system of Gaden Shartse Monastery in its new home in South India. Kensur Rinpoche is remembered as a great scholar and teacher, creating a whole new generation of highly qualified, committed practitioners and teachers. In fact one of his students is the current incarnation of H.H. Zong Rinpoche.

Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche visited Tsem Rinpoche in Gaden.

Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche visited or came over to do pujas when I was in Gaden. Here we are in my room when I was honoured with one of his visits to my house.

I was honoured to be able to make offerings of a Manjushri statue to Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche in Gaden Monastery. I had offered one Manjushri statue to each monk in Gaden at the time along with robes to each sangha member.

Kensur Konchok Tsering Gave Manjushri Initiation

In 2010 I had the great honour to request the erudite master and scholar Kensur Konchok Tsering to bestow the sacred Manjushri initiation to the sangha of Gaden Shartse Monastery. Kensur Rinpoche agreed and there was a large turnout in the grand debate courtyard of the monastery to receive the initiation from this master. I wanted everyone to be blessed by Manjushri and seeds of Manjushri planted in their mindstream for their future enlightenment.

Before monks engage in their daily debates, they invoke Manjushri to bestow his blessings for the spiritual education daily. Therefore I feel very lucky to have been able to have done this, because it was auspicious for the monks to receive this initiation, especially from someone as qualified as Kensur Rinpoche. In the video below, I provide a light commentary in regards to this initiation that I had the honour to sponsor. Please listen to the commentary to learn more. Thank you.

Interview with H.E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche

Some of my students had the honour to have audience with Kensur Rinpoche. During the short audience, my students asked Kensur Rinpoche some questions to which Kensur Rinpoche replied. Below is the video from the event, where Kensur Rinpoche kindly took the time to speak with my students.

Interview with High Lamas of Gaden Monastery – Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche

Below is another video with Kensur Rinpoche which is a must see. He speaks very candidly and openly with his characteristic joviality to my students whom I sent to visit Gaden Monastery. Again, some of my students had travelled to Gaden Monastery and sought an audience with this holy master. During the audience, Kensur Rinpoche took time out of his schedule to speak to the students, and explain our relationship and what he remembered of me from the monastery. I was very humbled by all that he said.

Prayer For Me By Kensur Rinpoche Konchok Tsering

When I was ill in 2011, some of my students had requested Kensur Rinpoche Konchok Tsering to compose a long life prayer which they would recite to generate the merits for my long life and Dharma works to grow. In Tibetan Buddhism, when one’s teacher is ill, we can request the high lamas to compose special prayers to invoke upon the blessings of the Three Jewels to increase our teacher’s life. This is what my students had done, as such prayers are sought after and recited daily. These prayers are recited daily by devoted students to increase the merits for their teachers to live longer.

Kensur Rinpoche kindly agreed. I am indeed fortunate to have had such a high and renowned master compose this for me. I am humbled and honoured. I am grateful to this lama for composing something to increase my life. I have not done much and yet Kensur Rinpoche thought that my life is worth extending. I fold my hands humbly to Kensur Rinpoche, who tirelessly taught the Dharma to hundreds of his students which many now are great Dharma masters, some of which have become excellent teachers in their own right. Kensur Rinpoche is the perfect example of kindness, knowledge, practice, generosity, meditation, patience and compassion rolled into one great master. He has achieved great results in his meditation and therefore able to stay in thukdam (death meditation) for nine days. I fold my hands to Kensur Rinpoche for granting me his blessings.

The prayer is designed to be recited daily by students, well-wishers, friends and or those karmically connected with myself. The prayers have power due to the illustrious authors’ blessings.

It’s sad to hear the passing of such great erudite master. After reading this article and videos, I could see Kensur Rinpoche truly show his patience and compassion when being interviewed and His tirelessly talking about Dharma. It is indeed a great loss to the monastery and all his students to whom H.E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche took care of their needs and also fed his poorer students just like a father to them .He will be greatly missed by all of them. May H.E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche’s students continue to carry on Rinpoche’s dharma work to bring benefit to more people. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article🙏😌

We at Kechara are indebted to this great master, for so many reasons, one of it was for him to compose a long life prayer for His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche.

I feel Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche, wherever he goes in Samsara, he will carry on benefitting sentient beings. May his departure remain short, and his benefit reach the heavens.

Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche was such an accomplished and highly attained practitioner who worked tirelessly for others. Indeed like H.E. Tsem Rinpoche wrote this person has meaning in his life, even when aged, he will always be of benefit.

May Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche have a swift rebirth and come back to benefit the world through his compassion and wisdom.
    Thank you

After reading this article, with great sadness about Kensur Konchok Rinpoche already passing. Kensur Rinpoche in Gaden Shartse had many students due to his wise knowledge of many year of study Buddhism.

My first impression meeting with Kensur Konchok Rinpoche is very humble lama, In 1997, which i was travelled first time to Gaden Shartse monastery with H.E.Tsem Tulku rinpoche and the group of people. Day after we had arrived at Gaden day. Kensur Rinpoche came to visit Tsem rinpoche suddenly without informing Tsem Rinpoche ahead. Which is not according monastery protocol the abbot came himself to visiting other lama ladrang without informing. With respect of H.E.Tsem rinpoche hard work raising fund at south east Asia to support sangha and monastery many year. Kensur Konchok Rinpoche came personally to thank rinpoche and to discuss with Tsem rinpoche about Kensur Jampa Yeshe rinpoche long life puja. Is my good fortunate to met both high qualified lama that time and received blessing from them. H.E.Tsem Rinpoche always speak highly about Kensur Konchok Rinpoche wise knowledge of Buddhism and sincere practitioner. I pray Kensur Rinpoche incarnation can be find and come back again continue turn the wheel of dharma.

Same to what many people has said, it is very sad to see such high calibre lama passed away, but his passing also shown us that life is impermanent, no matter how powerful we are, how highly attained we are, we will still leave one day as long as we are in a physical form.

In many ways, we can see the similarity between H.E. the 25th Tsem Rinpoche and Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche, they scold but never hold anger, they take care of their students especially the poorer ones, Rinpoche will take care and make sure everything is fine. They are extremely compassionate to everyone who came into their life.

Tsem Rinpoche has always wanted to be with the sanghas, even Rinpoche is not in the Monastery, Rinpoche would still request Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche to conduct initiation to the sangha members so they can get greater blessing in their spiritual practice.

Even Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche has departed, but all his effort in spreading dharma has created huge impact in Buddhism and to spread till today, if not because of you bring Dharma over from Tibet, probably many of them would have been destroyed, thank you Rinpoche for all you have done. Im sure wherever you go, you will always benefit the beings of tour time.

After reading the post, I know how much Kensur Rinpoche lived his life benefited others.A great scholar and dedicated Master and was at the same time very humble and caring. His passing away is a great loss of great teaching lama. May his students continue to spread the Dharma he taught.

I am just surprised that Kensur Rinpoche asked his student not to look for his reincarnation. As he was a great master and lineage holder, I believe his reincarnation will be a great contribution to the Gaden lineage and continue to benefit many peoples.

This is a sad news and great losses in Tibetan Buddhism. Passing of Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche should inspired us to learn Dharma diligently from our Guru. We should take the any opportunities to learn and practice any teachings from Guru. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche is very devoted to his Guru. This is a good quality for to learn in order for us to gain attainment in Trantic practice.

Thanks My Guru, H.E Tsem Tulku Rinpoche for sharing and I hope this article will inspire more people to practice Guru Devotion without any incredulity.

I was one of the fortunate ones to have had audience with His Eminence Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche. And blessed to be in his presence when I visited Gaden Shartse monastery in those days when the ban on Dorje Shugden was still tolerable. Sad to say, the ban has split the monasteries, the sangha, the Tibetan people. And the dharma is declining because of the ban. Dharma has been polluted by politics. May Kensur Rinpoche continue to benefit those Beings where he has planned to be. May he return soon to continue his dharma work to benefit human kind after the ban is over.

  12. Mingwen on Jan 3, 2017 at 10:53 pm

What can happened while 2 great beings met?

Of course, benefitting to all sentient beings who have the karma and merits to contact with them, H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche and H.E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche.

May H.E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche goes to a greater place and continue to turn the wheel of Dharma and benefits all sentient beings.

May H.E Tsem Tulku Rinpoche live long, healthy and continue to turn the wheel of Dharma, and benefits all sentient beings.

Thank you, H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche and H.E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche for contributing your lives to Dharma.

    Sincerely,
Wish both of you in well.

It’s really a lost for such a caliber master passed away. Kensur Rinpoche indeed a great learned lama that has contributed so much in spreading the doctrine and created so many great teachers. As H.E. the 25th Tsem Rinpoche student I thank Kensur Rinpoche for composing the long life prayer for my guru.

There is no doubt of Kensur Rinpoche attainment that he can control his death and to me much greater lost for Rinpoche not wanting not find his incarnation. For whatever reason I hope Kensur Rinpoche will continue to come back and continue to turn the wheel of dharma.

How unfortunate that such an accomplished and attained master have passed on. How they benefitted so many and always tirelessly teaching. But the saddest part is when Kensur Rinpoche Konchok Tsering will not be coming back again.
Just from reading this post, one can tell how much He shows humility, love and kindness for everyone around Him. Just like our Guru, Tsem Rinpoche, always tirelessly teaching, giving, caring, kind and loving. These attained beings show us that through our effort and practice, we too, can be just like them, to be able to give tirelessly like them. How wonderful is that!
Just from reading the long life prayers written by Kensur Rinpoche Konchok Tsering, I felt the warmth, love and kindness. Amazing!

I am sad to hear such a highly attained Lama has entered into clear light. I am sure H.E.Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche will be remembered by His students forever.

In His life time, H.E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche has shown his utimate compassion to all sentient beings and His students.”He was tireless in giving teachings daily for over 8 hours without break and sometimes more. He was known to be extremely loving, caring and fatherly towards his many students”. I am touched with this.

Upon He entered into clear light, He has shown sign of great Tantric master. “He said that after his passing, people may take his body, cremate it in a simple manner, and dispose of it in a normal way. This is a sign of a tantric practitioner who has gained high realisations.” I was amazed by this. It really boosted up our confidence to Dharma practice. I guess this is the last teaching that H.E.Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche given to us.

I am surprised and sad that Kensur Rinpoche told His students not to look for His reincarnation and he even didn’t want his body to be cremated with big ceremony and placed in a stupa. It is strange to me but I sincerely hope H.E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche will be reincarnated and continue to teach Dharma to benefit all sentient beings in next life.

I learnt from the article that we should not dissapoint our teacher and value the precious Dharma or else we might lost it forever even in next life.

i remember Tsem Rinpoche always speak highly of Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche. During the early years, Tsem Rinpoche would advised us travel to Gaden Shartse, to make offerings and get blessing from attained master like Kensur Rinpoche. Tsem Rinpoche always said that Kensur Rinpoche is a very attained master, Tsem Rinpoche has spent lots of times with him during his days at Gaden monastery, and he was very proud and always look up to Kensur Rinpoche. The passing of Kensur Rinpoche is a great loss to the Dharma world. Great master who is learned and attained are like precious jewels, very rare and not easy to meet. Thank you for the kindness of Tsem Rinpoche, Im fortunate to have the opportunity to get blessing from this high master many years ago. I believed Kensur Rinpoche has ascent to the pure land and achieved enlightenment.

A great loss to us in Samsara. But, that is the rule of Samsara, we all have to leave, controlled or otherwise. His Eminence Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche has only shown us that controlled passing is achievable.

That should inspire us to continue the path of dharma.

May His Eminence Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche’s teachings and work continue to benefit many more.

Sad to hear the Passing of a Great Master: Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche. From the passing, Kensur Rinpoche also showed me that how this great master knows about his death and can plan for it. In additions, during his passing, he also showed me the sign of a tantric practitioner who has gained high realisations to remind me & encourage me to do my practice well while I still can.

Pray that Kensur Rinpoche will return and continue to spread the Dharma soon.

    Om Main Padme Hung.

Very sad to know that another learned and high lama, H.E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche has enter clear light. I am amazed to know that Rinpoche’s was in death meditation for 9 days. Rinpoche’s body stayed in meditational posture, without moving, his heart area remained warm, yet he was not breathing anymore and his heart stopped for nine days. This is a sign of a tantric practitioner who has gained high realisations. What sadden me was, Rinpoche stated that is was not necessary to look for his reincarnation. He made these instructions very clear. Someone who had gain realization like Rinpoche will usually continue to come back to teach and liberate all sentient beings. Why is Rinpoche refused to be found by his students? He must be very disappointed by his students.

It is always sad to receive news like this. The loss of another great erudite master brings heaviness to heart. After reading this post I know how much Kensur Rinpoche lived his life benefiting others. And my prayers go to him and may his teachings continue growing the Dharma through his students.

  21. Echeah on Jan 1, 2017 at 4:33 pm

This is sad news even as we usher in a new year. 2016 seems to be a year of the passing of many famous people as well as disasters such as plane crashes etc. While for the rest of us, how and when we die is the result of our karma, for highly attained beings who have full control of their deaths, they choose when they pass and where they will take rebirth to continue their compassionate work where there is most need.

H.E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche, thank you for having blessed so many with the gift of dharma. May we humbly request that Rinpoche quickly take rebirth so that many more who have not yet encountered the dharma will soon do so, through Rinpoche’s kindness. _/\_

Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche will be long remembered by his hundreds of students , some of whom became Geshe Lharampa because of his tens of thousands of hours of dedicated teachings to them . A great erudite scholar and dedicated Master , he was at the same time very humble and very warm and caring.

Even on rest days in Gaden , which were on Mondays, Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche would arrange to buy many vegetables and rice and have an abundance of food cooked up, and fed his poorer students. Yes he was very much loved because he was extremely loving, caring and fatherly towards his many students.

He and Tsem Rinpoche were close friends. He spoke very fondy of Rinpoche in interviews about Rinpoche with Tsem Rinpoche’s students. He said that Rinpoche, having studied closely with Zong Rinpoche and other high Lamas for a long time, has developed the same qualities and amassed as much knowledge. Hence, we (Tsem Rinpoche’s students)are very fortunate to have such a great teacher as Tsem Rinpoche as our Guru. Hence it is good to make strong dharma connections with Rinpoche. He spoke of Rinpoche’s extremely determined and tireless efforts to raise funds in Malaysia for the building of Phukhang Khangtsen. He did not know people. The fact that he succeeded in raising the money speaks volumes for Rinpoche!

According to Kensur Rinpoche,Tsem Rinpoche’s most outstanding quality is his untiring effort to help and benefit others. He was always thinking about how to help others.Tsem Rinpoche displayed this caring nature when he presented Kensur Rinpoche with vitamins which he had carefully selected for Kensur Rinpoche’s diabetes. He also presented easy-to-set up mosquito netting to Kensur Rinpoche.Tsem Rinpoche also works hard to spread the Dharma

Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche wrote and offered a long-life prayer to Tsem Rinpoche ! How kind and caring Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche was. How fortunate that I was among the group of pilgrims who visited Gaden Monastery with Tsem Rinpoche. How fortunate that I met this great Master on that pilgrimage. I remember his kindness, warmth and gentleness.

The passing of HE Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche is indeed a loss for us sentient beings. It is illogical for enlightened beings like HE, being accomplished in the Tantric practices, to be physically sick. These in fact are manifestations of our karmic obscurations. May HE return soon for our benefit!

My deepest condolence to all his students and those who know Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche. It is sad to hear a loss a great lama that have contributed so much in holding Tsongkhapa lineage and spreading dharma to many.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing Kensur Rinpoche background and his life story.

It is sad to hear the passing of a great lama, a great practitioner and a great Dharma teacher. But then again, we all will pass on sooner or later. It is a guaranteed event in our life. However, thanks to these great lamas, they show us proofs that of what we can achieve during the time of death. These great masters are always very kind to find ways to encourage us to keep our practice.

Before I met Tsem Rinpoche and Kechara, I avoid to learn about death, and always wonder what is the point of doing practice. But through constant love and patience of Rinpoche, I understand the meaning of practice and eventually started my journey of practice. If not because of Rinpoche and Rinpoche’s keep showing the evidence of the practice is real, I most likely still won’t believe they are real and won’t start practice.

My heartfelt deepest condolence to those have known H.E. Kensur Rinpoche. Kensur Rinpoche was so compassionate, loved and remembered by many at the monastery as well as our own Kecharians who have visited, and interviewed him. The Long Life Prayer of Rinpoche composed by Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche was powerful and meaningful due to the his blessings..Thank you for sharing Rinpoche about the biography of H.E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche.

    Dear Rinpoche,

I am sorry to hear of Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche passing. Memories of my audience with him come to mind vividly. It was such an honour to have received blessings from Kensur Rinpoche.

During my audience with him, I was amazed how much he remembered of Rinpoche and all the kind and compassionate work that Rinpoche has done for Gaden Shartse. And how well he knew of Rinpoche’s passion to spread the Dharma.

Kensur Rinpoche was so appreciative of the medicines that Rinpoche sent to him.

That visit was just a small group of us visiting and talking with people, lay and monastic who had been in Rinpoche’s space while Rinpoche was in Gaden Shartse and each and everyone remembered Rinpoche well for Rinpoche’s kindness and contribution to have made “things” better for them.

The passing into clear light of Kensur Rinpoche is very saddening as we are seeing another great authentic Lama and Teacher having left us. May His legacy of teachings live forever in all who have had the privilege to have been his student.

  29. Sofi on Dec 31, 2016 at 5:22 am

I remember the first time I had the fortune to know of H.E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche was when he had kindly written a long life prayer for our Guru. In his prayer written, his humbleness shines out from his words used, as well as his strong roots in Dharma. Since then I had watched his interviews by fellow Kecharians for our Guru’s biography. He had high praises for our Guru and advised us to value our samaya with our Guru. It is really sad to learn of his passing as the world lose a great teaching Lama. It is so amazingly humble of him to play down his death and instructions not to search for his incarnation. May he swiftly reincarnate with the great compassion he carry with him to continue benefitting sentient beings with Turning of the Wheel of Dharma, which is so needed in this degenerate age.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing his enlightened passing and his life history with us. I offer my condolences to Rinpoche for your loss and to those who had close association with H.E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche. _()_

Venerable Ajahn Chah was a Thai Buddhist teacher of the Buddhadhamma and a founder of two major monasteries in the Thai Forest Tradition. Well respected and loved as a man of great wisdom, he was also instrumental in establishing Theravada Buddhism in the West. Interesting life story, how he chose to leave the settled monastic life and became a wandering ascetic. Walking across Thailand, lived in forests, caves and cremation grounds while learning from the meditation monks of the Forest of various monasteries. He wandered through the countryside in quest of quiet and secluded places for developing meditation. He even lived in tiger and cobra infested jungles, using reflections on death to penetrate to the true meaning of life. After years of wandering, Venerable Ajahn Chah established a monastery where he taught simple, practice-based form of meditation, and attracted a numerous of students including western foreigners. He was one of the greatest Dhamma teachers of the modern era. His wise teachings have continued to guide thousands of people along the path of Dharma. Venerable Ajahn Chah’s teachings of the Thai Forest Tradition gradually spread across all over the world. Several of Ajahn Chah’s Western students have since established monasteries throughout the world. Just in Thailand itself, there are more than 300 branch monasteries in Ajahn Chah’s tradition. Ven erable Ajahn Chah used his ill health as a teaching point, emphasizing that it was a living example of the impermanence of all things and reminded people to endeavour to find a true refuge within themselves. The legacy of Venerable Ajahn Chah’s teachings and legacy continues into the modern age.
Thank you Rinpoche for this great sharing.

Wonderful blog written on the practice of Kalarupa for us to understand better. As an emanation of Manjushri, Kalarupa’s practice helps us to destroy ignorance and to develop wisdom overcoming our anger and suffering . Awesome Kalarupa manifested in multiple forms to help sentient beings who personifies enlightenment by the conquest of anger. Kalarupa also regard as one of the three main Dharma protectors of the Gelugpa is extremely fierce and ugly, and tames all kinds of spiritual ugliness. The fierceness of his iconography teaches us to remind ourselves that all the causes and effects of anger arising from ignorance are dreadful and distorted.
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor Antionette for this detailed sharing,

Nepal is a very spiritual country, having a huge Dorje Shugden mural in Kathmandu, is indeed a big achievement for Kechara. Located on Charkhal Road in Dilli Bazaar, the mural can be found midway between our two Dorje Shugden chapels which are in Putalisadak and Chabahil. It is also very close to one of Kathmandu’s largest shopping malls. Many locals , tourist will be able to connect them to a powerful deity that is so closely associated with their culture. Well the mural not only beautiful but also full of symbolism and everyone merely by seeing it is blessed. Thanks to those talented artists and generous sponsors making it a success.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on. Letting go helps us to live in a more peaceful state of mind and helps restore our balance. A reminder for us all to go of attachment and meditating on impermanence and emptiness. We are to relinquish the domination of our ego and its habits to transform ourselves. A great reminder not to waste our previous life.

Winning the lottery was part of my dreams, I tried so hard to win big but all to no avail, until I came across Dr Lucas online who made my dreams come through and made me win 10 million dollars. I was a logistics manager who lives in Lancaster, S.C. and works about an hour’s drive away, in Charlotte, N.C., I stopped at a store to buy a scratch-off lottery ticket during my lunch break, because Dr Lucas gave me all the assurance that the numbers are not going to fail after I did all he asked me to do. Dr lucas is a powerful Dr that is on a mission to eradicate poverty from people’s lives and i have confirmed that by winning $10 million with the numbers he provided for me, it is my promise to tell the world about my experience with Dr Lucas and that’s what I’m doing now, you can win the lottery fast with the help of Dr Lucas he is tested and trusted Email: Drlucasspelltemple@gmail. com or WhatsApp +234 904 794 3567 he will help you.

We are members of the Buddhist Temple in Taman Desa Jaya, Kepong, Kuala Lumpur and we have been issued membership by the president (DATUK YIP KUM FOOK), we are very sad because we are the foundation of this Temple

Now we can know who is always messing with people, and he always cheats money and women, he even uses Buddhism to find money.

Also, need to be careful with his brother-in-law (Simon Low Kok Meng) because he is a spy (CID) for DATUK YIP KUM FOOK and we will write some letters to AGONG SULTAN IBRAHIM IBN ALMARHUM SULTAN ISKANDAR as soon as possible.

The matriarchal cultures of the grandmothers have specific symbolism of animism shamanism, such as the horse, especially the blue horse, and the deer. These are two main symbols of a shaman woman and you can find them in many cultural folk lore, especially the Russian, Slavic, Siberian, Nordic, Finland, and Norway. It’s nice to see the Matriarchal Shaman Animism diety represented in Chinese.

An inspiring act of a selfless Lama feeding strays whether its night or day. Truly an example for us all to feed those lonely strays . Yes I do agree compassion starts with feeding strays. Reading this blog again to refresh myself to do more. Strays animals generally lead a life of poor welfare on the street. Feeding strays is a compassionate act.
Thank you Rinpoche and Anila for this sharing.

H E Tsem Rinpoche’s Sungbum project aim to preserve the teachings and practices that have been passed from teacher to disciple in an unbroken line beginning with Lama Tsongkhapa himself . History has taught us the importance of preserving Buddha’s stainless teachings. Its important to preserve and safeguard the Buddhist tradition for future generations.

Demons are disembodied spirits, supernatural being or spirit and unseen beings. We know they do exist and I believe they do. They have no physical form to them whatsoever. Demons do definitely exist. They are intelligent beings who are evil malicious spirits and are all dangerous entities. Valak is not to be summoned capriciously by anyone as they are dangerous beings when we invoke them having to face a heavy consequence. There are spiritual practices that we can ask for help a ritual of the wrathful Manjushri in the form of Trakze. Having a doing the practice daily without fail, consistently, as this Trakze practice has been proven to be efficacious to break the hold the Valak and other spirits. All thanks to our Guru bringing this practice to Kechara Forest Retreat, Bentong Malaysia.

Wow ,reading all these powerful quotes had me realised much better of giving even I have little. May H E Tsem Rinpoche’s sincere advice to reach the far shore of liberation to everyone reading this blog. The most truly generous people are those who give silently without asking any in return. There is no exercise better than reaching and lifting people up. A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal. Well creating and lighting for others we naturally light our own way. Helping others especially those unfortunate ones, make us feel more positive about our own circumstances.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing all these powerful quotes.

Lama Tsongkhapa was an influential Tibetan Buddhist monk, philosopher and tantric yogi, whose activities led to the formation of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism . Lama Tsongkhapa was hailed as the second Buddha by contemporary Buddhist masters of his time. Famous for reviving Buddhism in Tibet and revered for elevating the Dharma to all its present glory. Hence having a 12 ft Lama Tsongkhapa Statue at new Kechara Gompa (Prayer Hall) is indeed a blessing. Its truly beautiful. Merely by looking at it is a blessing .
Thank you Rinpoche and team effort making it possible.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
