A couple of years ago, my sister Petra was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer. Although the average life expectancy for this disease is three to eight months after being diagnosed, Petra is still leading a quite normal life and as I’m writing this, she is preparing to go on vacation in South Africa with her family. She has a very strong fighting spirit! Petra has been receiving chemotherapy since her being diagnosed and it has made her feel sick at times but a while back, the medicines lost their positive effect and the doctors couldn’t offer any good alternatives. They offered a treatment that would make Petra so radioactive that she would not be allowed to be around her children for ten days after each treatment. This was not acceptable to her and she instead decided to try more natural ways of healing.
I do not want to wallow in how horrible this disease is or how afraid I am that it will claim her. What I try to focus on is how determined she is to fight this disease and win. In this fight she will need all the help she can get so if you would like to offer her a prayer, it is welcome.
After Petra told me that they doctors had found cancer in her body, all I could think was “Why her?” Nobody deserves cancer of course but to me Petra seemed to deserve it the least. If you’re having a problem or feeling down, Petra will always have a word of comfort or wisdom for you. I can’t remember ever having seen her angry (although I bet she has been at one time or another). She is very creative and sculpts in clay, marzipan and even in wood with a chainsaw at times.
Petra and her husband has two young sons, she loves animals and she has lots of friends. When her health recently became worse and she was hospitalized, her friends arranged an online healing circle, praying every day and Petra got better. She got out of the hospital and back to her normal life again. I’m hoping that a Medicine Buddha statue could assist Petra in her healing process and I would be grateful if you would be able to send her one. Thank you!
Thank you!

Dear Hakan,
Your sincerity and the warmth of your love for your sister shine through, in this post. You, who love her greatly, have not allowed yourself to be dragged down by her suffering and this must help her a lot.
I like your positive attitude towards this dreadful disease that she is afflicted with, as can be seen in the following words:
“I do not wallow in how terrible this disease is or how afraid I am that it will claim her. What I try to focus on is how determined she is to fight this disease and win it”.
It is this that will give her the emotional support she needs.
May Medicine Buddha bring her great blessings and both inner and outer healing.
