You want to see something super funny??

Apr 24, 2012 | Views: 1,449

Ok, who is ready to see something super duper funny??? Yes, it is my personal Court Jester (宫廷小丑). He himself found the hat and brought it over… so now whenever he comes over, he is suppose to tell me stories to entertain me?? And give me new news… I like news… Hehe… what do you think… is he on the way to egolessness or what??

Do leave a nice comment to let him know if it cheered up your day and the video was funny?? Put a smile on your face??

Well who said Kechara doesn’t make dharma and spirituality fun??? We like it fun!! Spirituality should be fun and have great meaning at the same time…

We have very interesting, fun and good people in Kechara for sure…

Mind you this was filmed at 6am in the morning after working the whole night with me… hehehe.

This Court Jester aka Mr David Lai (one of the Kechara Liaisons and writer) has a wonderful book out… you must read here!!!!

Dear Rinpoche, are the four video links above realted to the Court Jester? The 2 special videos that made me really laugh is ‘David Lai’s TOO SEXY catwalk in Bangsar and I’m TOO SEXY. But the second one is the funniest because David was dancing in a restaurant.

  2. Joy on Mar 19, 2013 at 5:42 am

I’ve known David for about a decade now, and you know we may laugh at David, but seriously it takes guts and a person who is not attached to their ego to be able to do this… being His Eminence’s court gesture… seriously. Think about it.. can you? Can you do this and be filmed by your Guru and blog about it to the world? What great merits David has to make a Buddha laugh?! Wow! Bravo David, I applaud you for your abilities and courage I know I do not have to be your Lama’s own personal court gesture… most importantly, bring laughter to your own Guru.

  3. edward ooi on Feb 17, 2013 at 10:49 pm

Dear Rinpoche, David is so funny in these videos, especially the two videos named David Lai’s TOO SEXY catwalk in Bangsar!!! and Mr. Stomach talks to David. I love it, hahaha! I hope there will be more videos of David entertaining Rinpoche.

  4. Fiona ng on Jul 11, 2012 at 9:19 pm

    哦? 哈哈哈!!!谢谢你 David Lai。下次放开点。抛开自我再演专业一点哦。

    David, gambateh!

    • Wan Wai Meng on Jun 22, 2012 at 1:04 pm

Rinpoche is like Yamantaka with fierce compassion. And he employs all kinds of methods to tame the minds of his students. Nothing is spared from Rinpoche’s arsenal. David gets to be very close with Rinpoche and he has an excellent memory. Thanks David for the laughs 🙂

  6. mitra on May 5, 2012 at 9:51 pm

  9. James Long on May 5, 2012 at 3:07 pm

David is a very nice and caring person. He does not mind doing all these to make others happy, one step more away from self-cherishing mind. David got talent and he look very good on camera as well. Everyone Must watch his catwalk in Bangsar.

All these are too train us to let go of our ego, just like The test given by Tilopa to Naropa..

  10. Adrian cho on May 4, 2012 at 4:13 pm

hahaha…. David, you are really so funny and cute be a Court Jester… Thank you for cheering all of us….
I thinking here, would you be a clown next time 😛 haha

  11. Tenzin Kyabsum on May 4, 2012 at 11:31 am

    Much care, Jess

  12. wan on May 4, 2012 at 1:35 am

In my heart, David is a very smart and nice person. We has been working together during KMP and KP roadshow, David is a Dharma wikipedia ( Wiki that can walk ).. He he.. No matter he is Court Jester or David Off or Ah Yuen… He look’s funny and cute. ( and serious too ) :))

  14. Pastor Chia on May 3, 2012 at 1:27 pm

    Dear David,
You are good writer, actor, and now the professional court jester at Kechara. He! He!…… You are one of talented person i had met at Kechara. You are knowledgeable in Dharma and gave good sharing with others! We all love you as who you are including your funny video. I enjoy watching and laugh to the end this video.

  15. Albert on May 1, 2012 at 12:07 am

Haha… David, this reminded me during the first time I saw your video 3-4 years back (i think in Damekhang if I’m not wrong) that the video is shooting in Ikea and Bangsar, I couldn’t stop laughing for days, initially i was thinking why are you acting like that as compare to when you are in outlet, very knowledgeable and look serious, only till later when I understand more, then only i know what’s this all about..

That’s what I like in Kechara, doing what other people don’t dare to do, be ourselves and be different, anyways, we are all different after all…

  16. Paul paul on Apr 28, 2012 at 2:05 pm

    David is absolutely very entertaining!
perhaps David would like to consider “Malaysia Got Talent”?

  17. Girlie on Apr 26, 2012 at 1:52 pm

Oh dear, oh dear. Watching David jumping around made me wanna jump from my seat and roll my head!! Dear David, you are so funny.

    Thank you for this video.

  18. Margaretlee on Apr 26, 2012 at 9:44 am

David, you always seem to be the “lucky” one to be picked at! LOL!!!

From catwalking on the street of Bangsar, jiving at the restaurant, to little red riding hood and the holy saddhu in Ikea, and now the funny court jester, what’s next???

Thank you for being you…..and thank you for lifting my cheek muscle this morning, hahaha!

I wonder who could be next???

May be a few court jesters would be even more entertaining, just a thought!

Kechara is a talent house, David, you have proofed it again and again!

  19. jennifer on Apr 25, 2012 at 11:30 pm

    Dear David ,
That is so cute ! It really puts a smile on my face ! And you look like you are enjoying yourself playing the court jester . It is wonderful that you just push aside all ego and did what you did to cheer others up . Love it !

  20. Jutika Lam on Apr 25, 2012 at 8:49 pm

Hahahaha really funny but also helps to take stress away. Also it is so funny to know that David really has become a good Court Jester need to improve though. This video also brightened my day, how about you?

  21. Uncle Eddie on Apr 25, 2012 at 1:17 pm

Thank you so much for the entertainment David. You really have talent, it was much more than funny, it was a fantasy. Looks like you need to lose some weight, to match up with all the happy humorous smiles displayed on your charming face. Nevertheless, it was indeed entertaining and make a good aspirin-pill for distress cheering. As always, you are a real good sport and a perfect example for guru-devotion.

  22. abby F on Apr 25, 2012 at 10:19 am

    yeah David! JIA YOU!! :DD

  23. Diana Pereyda on Apr 25, 2012 at 6:52 am

  24. Joe Ang on Apr 25, 2012 at 4:04 am

Dear David, you’ve always been a good and caring Dharma brother. And from what I see here, you’re quite a good court jester too. You showed by letting go of our ego, we infect those around us with laughter and happiness. You made that hat look nice. Thank you.
    Joe Ang

  25. Jeffrey Yee on Apr 25, 2012 at 3:45 am

HAHAHA David is hilarious! Would be lovely to see him in the full jester costume though =P

Thanks you sharing your personal court jester Rinpoche! It really made my day.

  26. Adeline on Apr 24, 2012 at 11:24 pm

You looked funny and cute with that hat David, and this certainly has brought smiles to everyone’s face. It will be funnier if you can wear the full costume next time and become a professional court jester hehe.

  27. Mc on Apr 24, 2012 at 6:44 pm

Court jesters are known to be people of superior wit and cleverness able to keep the King company. They are in fact, no fool. David is probably one of a handful people amongst Rinpoche’s students who are dharma encyclopedias. Being very rich in knowledge and also serious looking, it is inspiring to see how David has no qualms casting all that aside to be Rinpoche’s student with no ego.

Thank you David for being an inspiration.

  28. Angelshooi on Apr 24, 2012 at 6:23 pm

    Dear David,
I am very happy for you…you have came a long way. The David that i knew is no longer exist.

Compare the first video in the year of 2008 and the recent video, you’ve let go lots of your ego. Good for you!:)

We are very very lucky to meet Rinpoche, and to have an opportunity to be near and trained by Him. Some of us, might think why?? Rinpoche do this to his students…..is the training of the mind.
Rinpoche is very concern for our future lives.

Thank You Rinpoche for Your love and care towards us!

  29. Pastor Susan on Apr 24, 2012 at 5:19 pm

David, you surely made an impression in my mind and i’ve been seeing you with the court jester hat all day long in my head! Can’t get you out of my head hahaha… love you bro!

  30. patsy on Apr 24, 2012 at 5:04 pm

This is super duper funny. What a funny way to practice cutting down ego and being humble. Thank you, Court Jester David, please do more to cheer us up:)

  31. David Loh on Apr 24, 2012 at 4:13 pm

Way to go David! Says David! Now that’s called Guru Devotion! Enjoyed every second. Keep it up! Looking forward to seeing more new ‘trick’s from you.

  32. jp on Apr 24, 2012 at 2:11 pm

OMG! David is so funny with the court jester hat!!! LOL! He’s always been very sporting with Rinpoche. I noticed that he is less stiff now in the video as a court jester. That was a good performance considering that it was at 6am! hehe. The other videos taken in years 2008 and 2010 were hilarious as well.

In a way, we are all like court jesters as well, fooling ourselves with our delusions.

  33. Li Kim on Apr 24, 2012 at 1:44 pm

David! You are a very cute court jester!

  34. Siong Woan on Apr 24, 2012 at 1:09 pm

Hahahahaha – David the court jester!

David is a nice young man who enjoys food and writes very very well..
I enjoy working with David because he’s got sense of humor!

We love David (and the hat ! haha)

  35. Datuk May on Apr 24, 2012 at 1:03 pm

It is funny, David, thank you, you made my day. By the way, I think you are a real good looking court jester. Whoever who is willing to do what they are afraid of or don’t like travels the Dharma journey. Thank you David for reminding me. Hahahaha. Love you!

  36. choi sheem on Apr 24, 2012 at 12:23 pm

    Dear David,
Yes you did make a good start to the day for me. I must say it really took a lot of courage to do this. It is certainly a lesson in egolessness and guru devotion.

  37. lewkwanleng on Apr 24, 2012 at 12:21 pm

For a 1st timer, it is pretty cool 🙂 But lots of room for improvements.. ;P

  38. Ac17 on Apr 24, 2012 at 12:12 pm

Haha…David. You are so knowledgeable and talented in many ways, especially in the Dharma. Yet you are so humble.

  39. William on Apr 24, 2012 at 12:01 pm

David is so funny and live up to his name. Haha…. I totally respect you for losing your ego and doing whatever that is needed to be better. You made me laugh when I watched this video. So funny and spontaneous, even so early in the morning.

  40. henry ooi on Apr 24, 2012 at 11:57 am

    Awww, cute mumu!

You have come a long way, David, unlike those days you pouted those trademark lips of yours when you were asked to perform in hilarious costumes.

    Good for you, David!

  41. Han on Apr 24, 2012 at 11:55 am

David, Your fun clip cheer my day up. There is room for improvement though.
    Thanks for sharing !

  42. Louise Lee on Apr 24, 2012 at 11:54 am

David keep it up, and train and train more people. Because Rinpoche have a team people work together no day no night!

  43. bengkooi on Apr 24, 2012 at 11:52 am

very very funny. David has come a long long way, from catwalking in Bangsar, to parading around ikea in a white sheet, to i’m too sexy dances. All in the name of the quest for egolessness thanks to Rinpoche’s skillful ways. If you didnt know better you would think it was an odd thing for a spiritual teacher to do. But with insight into Rinpoche’s methods, you are just blown away by the deeper meaning behind everything he does.

Wow.. for me David Lai is some one who are very serious, and, he is like a dictionary for Dharma knowledge. Can’t imagine he can be that fun. 🙂

  46. lucy yap on Apr 24, 2012 at 11:21 am

Thanks David for the laughs and cheering everyone.Dharma can be fun too!

  47. Paris on Apr 24, 2012 at 11:20 am

I LOVE THIS! I agree – a journey to egolessness, the Lama will find all kinds of INTERESTING WAYS to get us to do whatever and not have “issues” about it.

This court jester thing has been a bit of a running joke among us in Ladrang and with David and Rinpoche. David works hard during the day, then comes over to Ladrang often in the evenings to help out, volunteer with the works here, and of course, talk to Rinpoche. heheheheh So you know whose good side to get on….

Was thinking too that in stories of old, shakespeare etc, it is always the court jester who imparts the greatest wisdom – his riddles and taunts are most often filled with warnings, predictions and insights into the human psyche… So DAVID – are you full of this same profound wisdom in between the clowning about???

    xxxxx

  48. Elena on Apr 24, 2012 at 11:17 am

    Hahahaha that is SO funny!

And what’s funnier is that even without the hat, David still does that hop and jump 😀

  49. pastor ngeow on Apr 24, 2012 at 11:16 am

Wonder which court will request for David’s service ,esp when the shirt don’t go that well with his helmet ! I guess only the compassionate court of Tsem Rinpoche.

  50. Helena on Apr 24, 2012 at 11:16 am

Hahaha…very entertaining for us and good training for you from Rinpoche hehehe, i love your energy, although its 6am in the morning but still so hyper hahaha..This video clip is hilarious, i love it. You made my day David!! Thank you!!

    Thank you David!

  56. DR on Apr 24, 2012 at 10:24 am

  57. MayOng on Apr 24, 2012 at 10:04 am

  58. Victor Phang on Apr 24, 2012 at 9:55 am

With dharma a person can really put down his/her pride which is the main factor of egoism. David is a good writer and also a good dharma brother or “sister” in the greeting cards. hehe!
Keep it up David, we love you 🙂
    Thank you for sharing Rinpoche.
    Take care,
    With love, VP

  59. Thierry on Apr 24, 2012 at 9:46 am

    Now, that was entertaining indeed…
    David you rock!
Since I joined Kechara, I have gotten really strange friends, weird friends, “funny” friends, but they are the best friends because they don’t let themselves down, nor others down, they are not closed-minded, they are not sectarians, they don’t have hidden agendas, they are good influence (and some of them are so entertaining)!
So I feel so fortunate to have create the causes to have such company in this life…
    They don’t come around easy, I say…
    Thanks David

    • tsemtulku on Apr 24, 2012 at 9:55 am

Thierry, what a wonderful way of describing all the beautiful friends you met in Kechara..Yes Kecharians are very ‘different’ but for all the right reasons. Different peoples with different conception. Some peoples may easy to cheer up himself or other peoples, and they are the most optimistical person. Some may not like that. As i wake up from the day, i will chose something so called right outfit to cheer my day up or i may chose to smile more to peoples or even have a fast walks. So to bring my energy up up UP! Indeed, life is roller coaster up & down. Do remind myself be happy & positive mind thinking.

Ya… David. i know you are not like that, you seem more quite most of the time. To be a joker are not easy for you. You still chose to make our lama happy. Thank you to show us a sample of devotion. Cheer’

In general jealousy seems to be bad for any relationships. It’s a feeling of resentment against someone, feeling of insecurity and conflict. It’s human nature. It’s natural to feel jealous from time to time. Well it becomes problematic when we act out in jealousy. Everything happen for a reason, some people have been doing well , wealthy and some do not , all these are our past karma. We should not feel jealous but rejoice for them. We should try self-confidence letting go the situation. Jealousy can be harmful as it will hijack our mind, ruin our relationships, destroy our family, and some extreme cases such stealing or killing as well . At times jealousy becomes lethal, as do domestic fights, and ends up killing others or themselves.
To avoid jealousy we should accept and begin to appreciate who and what we are. Always rejoice to others and take them as an inspiration example. We should think less about ourselves, and more about others. Learning Dharma , practicing Dharma and putting into action , our jealousy will disappear. It’s the best choice.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

What a wonderful way going on a holy pilgrimage, and serving a Great Lama. Khensur Rinpoche who is a good friend of our Lama for 27 years. Rinpoche had known Khensur Rinpoche since Rinpoche time in India. Khensur Rinpoche had spent his whole life living in the monastic community teaching. Kensur Rinpoche had established Shar Gaden Monastery where the practice of Dorje Shugden and lineage is protected and preserved.
Looking at all the pictures tells us a thousand words, how the team lead by Su Ming and team serving a Great Lama Khensur Rinpoche and Gen Wangyal. Great and clear explanation for us to understand as well as to increase our knowledge of why bigger and more Buddha statues makes a difference in our lives. Big statues have been always been regarded as big blessings for the area around it and also the sentient beings that live around that area.

In Kechara Forest Retreat have many holy outdoor statue to create cause for people come to pilgrimage, embucirculate around the statue will help those have heavy body karma.Thank you very much for this article.

Many countries around the world have looking and working with China. They realised being friendly with China is a wise choice for the benefits for the growth of their country. China has become world largest economy country. For Tibet befriending China in long term will benefits both countries. Time had changed with Tibet having workshops with the Chinese is a good sign improving their relationship after all these years . People have their right and freedom to choose what they practice. Practicing Dorje Shugden is nothing to do with China. Every one of us have the right and freedom to choose what we want to practice. HH Dalai Lama is looking forward to return to Tibet one day. It only can be happen if the Tibetan leadership, letting go of the past and have more dialogues and meetings with the Chinese government in future. And solving all the political problems and lifting Dorje Shugden’s ban once for all.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this great news.

It is heart breaking, reading this article again, what Pastor Jean Ai had gone through and experience. Yet with strong determination all those abuses and attack by people whom she do not know, she did continue with her practice. Could not imagine how ungrateful the Tibetan Leadership treated the sponsor. Without the funds, sponsorship, monasteries and Dharma institutions would not able to survive for sure. Kechara organisation, and many others kind sponsors had sponsored millions to the Tibetan Buddhist monasteries of India. Not only that sponsoring of monk robes, books , statues , painting and jewelleries to name a few. Even changing the flooring of the monastery as well. Can imagine those sponsors go all the way to send them all those stuffs. And have raised so much sponsorship for them and had donated yearly in fact or when they asked for. And now none of them are allowed to go to the monasteries any more . All because they had practised Dorje Shugden’s practice. Countless other lamas and Shugden practitioners had raised funds for the monasteries too and they too were not allowed to have connection with. Sad ….there is no religious freedom at all. By now after decades , I do hope the Tibetan Leadership will lift the ban on Dorje Shugden for a better peaceful communities. May more read this post for a better understanding of what happening in the Tibetan Leadership and those in exile living in India.
Thank you Pastor Jean Ai for speaking up for the Tibetan people and for those Dorje Shugden practitioners .

Different people have different reasons for wanting to become ordained. Sometimes I do wonder if unless the reasons are right, one should not get ordained but on the other hand I think maybe one should take the leap of faith even if the reasons are not entire “correct”.

Modern people becoming ordained is tougher than in Buddha’s time, there are much inner and outer battle they need to overcome. May those who have the thought arise to be ordained, have more determination to make it happen. Thank you very much, for sharing this mind-changing article with all of us.

With their expertise a radiant energy scientist, a sound healer, an energy healer and a music composer, coming together to explore knowledge of cold energy . Li Kim and team going to haunted houses to experiment the energy. The haunted house they went looks scary. Joining them is also a Taoist master, finally concluded the presence of supernatural beings, as their findings found that the energy are dark and cold. As the unseen beings do no harm, they decided to do Taoist prayers and combined healing of sound, energy before leaving the area. I do believe those unseen beings do exist. Glad to learn that sound can heal the environment and souls. . Sound wonderful .

In Dharma, we learned that everything is impermanent, good thing will never last forever, that’s why we should not be attached to it as when it was gone, we will suffer tremendously, and a good news is, bad things never lasts.
Life is a journey filled with opportunities, hardships, heartaches and its test for our courage. There is always a reason of our existence in this life.Thank you very much for this good article.

Life is too short to wake up with regrets. I believe that everything happens for a reason ,and there is a reason behind everything. That’s why Rinpoche asked to think carefully and consider certain things. Due to Rinpoche’s clairvoyance, Rinpoche knew the consequent. Rinpoche wanted us to learn to be responsible for our decisions that is beneficial to all and not jumping into anything blindly. And that is how I pray to what I want to come to be published.
Glad to know some knowledge of Mount Shasta which I have not heard before being one of the world’s preeminent sacred mountains.

It won’t be supress Rinpoche felt more Indian as Rinpoche have been staying in India long enough. His early life spent in the monastery in India, serving his teachers and the monastic community, has taught Rinpoche cooking more Indian foods than western foods. Even all these years in Malaysia, Rinpoche preferred Indian cuisine which is rich in spices and masala such as dhal, paneer tikka, aloo mattar and paneer butter masala. Rinpoche will go all the way his students to serve Indian food to visiting Sangha so they would get a taste of home. Glad to know more of Rinpoche through this article. With Rinpoche explanation of how he felt and inherent in the Indian tradition culture, traditional spiritual practice and devotion to a spiritual teacher. All these points that Rinpoche was more Indian as what Rinpoche felt and having a strong connection with it.
Thank you Pastor David for this sharing.

It is ridiculous to think that a rabbinical court would sentence a dog just because they believe he was the reincarnation of a lawyer who offended the judge before. How would the judge know and can confirm that the dog is the reincarnation of the lawyer? Isn’t it abusing of power to make baseless allegation? This is us human trying to be more superior than animals and make decision based on own interest. Horrible act.

Thank you Rinpoche for this wonderful post explaining each and every steps the importance of starting our Dharma practice on Tsongkhapa and Vajrayogini being one. Besides our daily sadhana we should engage in Vajrayogini’s practice without delay. Life is short, not to waste our time . Start now learning from stretch, as Rinpoche has create the beautiful pure land for us to practice Dharma. For me,I still have plenty to learn and improve myself . I am one of those lucky one to have meet Rinpoche in this life and to become part of Kechara. Reading this post gave us a better understanding of how to prepare ourselves before receiving the practice of Vajrayogini . We are indeed fortunate to have Rinpoche sharing this post , once again thank you Rinpoche with folded hands.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
