Zamkar comes into the Picture

Jul 25, 2012 | Views: 893

About a year later after getting Yogi (mumu), my friend and student adopted Zamkar baby. Zamkar and mumu together. They played non-stop although mumu is older and bigger than little Zamkar Baby.

See the beautiful pictures and videos of Mumu and baby Zamkar below.

Zamkar comes over 2-3 times a week to play with mumu and get snacks. They are so adorable together. We are making blessed Buddha pendants for our pets and other pets to wear. Front will be a Tara and back will be their names and our telephone.

    The Chair

I have one chair I usually sit on to do my sadhana, watch a program, read, write, research and so on. But many times I return from my bathroom, Oser girl has taken over my chair. She gives me this look like, it’s her chair! She’s a spunky little schnauzer. The room has so much space, other sofas and places of interest, but my Oser has to hijack my chair always. I have to gently move her over and squeeze in next to her like I did last night into the same chair. We sat together for hours and she fell asleep in my chair huddled against me. Love is sharing a chair even though it’s meant for one occupant at a time. ? Tsem Rinpoche

It is incredible how smart Oser girl is. She can steal the treat away from Dharma boy and so casually. Wow. She is so smart. A must watch short video!! Tsem Rinpoche

Dear Rinpoche, Zamkar baby is really cute!!! I thought that Zamkar’s hair was all white for his entire life but surprising it wasn’t! I never thought that dogs fur or hair can change colour. I’m getting so excited because I want to visit the mumus tomorrow! If I really have the chance to visit them, I will be so happy that I can fly. Just joking! Hehe

  9. VInnie Tan on Sep 15, 2013 at 2:15 am

Zamkar is so cute when he was younger! He is still cute now, he is just such a lovely little doggie. So fun to be around with.

  10. Joy on Mar 4, 2013 at 7:23 pm

Oh my gawwwdddd… Zamkar baby is really so adorable when he was a baby! I remembered when Paul first got him and how we were trying to make him and mumu friends. Zamki was such a shy baby and mumu was so gentle playing with him!

As he grew, his character became more prominent. Knowing Paul was very busy at work, Rinpoche kindly offered to bring Zamkar baby to Ladrang so he can play with Mumu and not get too depressed and lonely missing Paul. One thing’s for sure… he is a really sneaky greedy boy. He used to eat up the candles that was offered on the altar in Ladrang but he was amazingly fine. No problem digesting it at all. There was also one time Zamkar came in to Rinpoche’s room and ate Rinpoche’s sushi when Rinpoche went in to the toilet! It was so funny, Rinpoche had to teach him a lesson and banned him from Ladrang for a week or two and asked him to “think” about what he has done. He never dared do it again. Now Zamki is part of the Ladrang family and he is so welled cared for by KB and our Nepalese brothers and he is happy, no more depression and socializes with everyone nicely.

Oh baby, so cute! I like the last picture showing Mumu and Zamkar like dancing to together. It brighten up my day, hehe. Our pet needs friends also just like us.

May Mumu and Zamkar always happy and blessed by Buddhas!

Cute! Zamkar was so tiny when he came to us. Yogi towers over him and looks like the big brother. Now, Zamkar is the biggest and fattest!

So adorable!! They are truly blessed and fortunate to have the karma to be in such a loving family and friends who adores them. Everyday they get to circumambulate and have fun in Haven’s garden, how nice! May they always have the good fortune and blessed in all lives.

Thank you Rinpoche for the video and gorgeous photos of Mumu and Zamkar.
Mumu, Zamkar, Oser and Dharma are just toooo cute for words. They are absolutely lovely, friendly adorable and so very huggable! I cannot imagine a world or my life without mumus. Whenever i see them, we have group hugs and i am so reluctant to let them go – they are so cuddly! Like mobile soft toys , they tumble around together, nudge each other, play with each other and when tired of playing, lie down side by side and rest. Such love they have for each other – what joy to see them together!

  16. Lim Han Nee on Aug 4, 2012 at 1:23 pm

Zamkar and the Mumus in ladrang are truly blessed to be in such a loving environment. They even have stupas for them to circumambulate in a fun way.Rinpoche thinks of everything when it comes to blessing their mindstreams with Dharma and the Three Jewels so that they will take good human rebirths and be connected to the Dharma for their future lives.

Rinpoche so loves them that he has put them on a vegetarian diet so that they will not be collecting negative karma from taking meat.It is hard to train pets to go vegetarian but this has been accomplished.

Paul and David are also great Dharma ‘fathers’ to Zamkar.

The dogies are so fortunate to meet Rinpoche and his student, they are always be well care and good foods. May they able to get more merits by surrounding Dharmic environment so they can have a good rebirth in next life.

Animals, especially dogs are just like humans. They share some of the same feeling like pain, grief and joy. As they are growing up, they need to be taught right from wrong, just like teaching our own children.

Judging from the pictures, one can tell that these beautiful dogs are being deeply loved by their Master. As dogs, they are so lucky to be under the great care of Rinpoche, Paul and David.

Now, don’t some of us want to be these beautiful dogs?

    Just joking!!!

  27. Carmen on Jul 28, 2012 at 12:03 pm

Zamkar baby cuteeeee!! All grown up, now he looks even more adorable..like a little piglet. When Zamkar first went to Ladrang (Haven) to play, he was adjusting to all the other mumus.. Now, they’re all best buds and having a blast together everyday.

Rinpoche really takes cares and loves animals! Like David, I don’t know anyone who shows so much love to both animals and mankind the same besides Rinpoche. The mumus at the Ladrang, are all very well taken care of. Rinpoche even went to the extent of building a mumu Buddha Garden for the mumus so that they can run around, play, whilst unknowingly circuambulating around Buddhas that have been placed all over the garden.

Here’s the article about Mumu’s garden:

Aiyo, I miss Zamkar so much. I was staying with Paul and David a year ago, and get to know Zamkar.

He is very cute, sometimes very naughty when the “mama” not around. When I was alone at home, he is my best friend, always stay beside me and want to play with me. But not when Paul comes home, Zamkar will just forget about me and go to his mama…hehe…Zamkar always miss mama as Paul usually came home late, sometimes outstation.

Glad to know he has so many friends in Haven now. I hope he still remember me ^.^

OMG!!! I love Zamkar baby. He’s so cuteeeeeeee!! He’s so cute when he was younger. Look at that little munster. He looks a lot like Ozer baby girl. If I am not mistaken, they are both related. Rinpoche really loves his mumus. Never knew any person who loves animals so much that he would make everyone go vegetarian.

    • Henry Ooi on Aug 5, 2012 at 1:33 am

David, take it easy. You are suffocating the poor mumu. LOL!

  37. Julia Tan on Jul 26, 2012 at 5:54 pm

I get to know Zamkar when I was volunteering in Haven months ago. David send Zamkar over to play with Dharma, Yogi and Oser every morning. They are supper cute and best friends.
Zamkar loves Paul and David very much. He would immediately stop playing with the rest when he saw Paul or David. Zamkar will sit next to David’s feet quietly. He will follow David around very closely when David wherever David go (inside Haven). In his eyes there’s only David at that time. When he saw Paul, He will get excited and jumped to Paul and hugged Paul by putting his two hands and face on Paul’s shoulder. Sweet uh!! What a sweet and loyal friend to have. Lucky you Paul and David!

  38. choisheem on Jul 26, 2012 at 5:11 pm

These mumus look so adorable. Zamkar’s fur looks so much different now. He is all white now-looks like a little lamb. Yes, these pets seem very happy and calm. They are so blessed to have owners who loves and cares for them so much.

  39. Sheryl KH (JB) on Jul 26, 2012 at 1:57 pm

From all angles I can only feel how fortunate Zamkar and Mumu are. They have the love from their respective owners, the pet pendants that bless their current and future lives, Buddha statues for them to circumambulate about and I believe many other great stuff that Rinpoche and Paul will not be selfish in giving to them.

Zamkar is truly fortunate to be adopted into a caring home.

How I wish all pets can be so well taken care of like Mumu and Zamkar.

  40. Milly on Jul 26, 2012 at 1:59 am

So cute cute. Yogi, Zamkar and the other mumus in Haven are so blessed. Even animals have their own karma. To have the merits to be Rinpoche’s pets and surrounded by holy Dharma 24×7. May they quickly take rebirth in the human realm and be surrounded and practice Dharma in their next rebirth.

Mount Wutai is a sacred Buddhist mountain. The cultural landscape is home to forty-one monasteries. Its central area is surrounded by a cluster of flat-topped peaks or mesas roughly corresponding to the cardinal directions. Significance of Mount Wutai is one of the Four Sacred Mountains in Chinese Buddhism. Each of the mountains is viewed as the bodhimaṇḍa of one of the four great bodhisattvas. Wu Tai San is the home of the Bodhisattva of wisdom Manjushri. Beautiful architectural temples have been built since from the 1st century AD to the early 20th century. The temples are inseparable from their mountain landscape. Those monasteries of Mount Wutai remain an important repository of Buddhist culture. Every year it has attract thousands of pilgrims from across a wide part of Asia. Mount Wutai is an exceptional testimony to the cultural tradition of religious mountains that are developed with monasteries. The temples demonstrate a long history of construction and reconstruction. Wutai Shan is worth visiting for its rich Buddhist culture, historical temples, and stunning natural scenery. Visitors can experience a spiritual atmosphere, see numerous temples. I am fortunate joining Kechara group visiting these Holy places at Wu tai Shan years back, witnessing the beauty of the mountain landscape, even though that time some areas still be under construction and can be crowded. Beyond its cultural sites, the mountain offers impressive natural scenery with lush greenery, mountain streams, and panoramic views.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing as it reminds me of my pilgrimage trip.

The right attitude when receiving offerings is one of gratitude, humility, and joy, recognizing the act as an expression of the giver’s generosity and a means to fulfil their spiritual path. It is important to accept gifts graciously, as refusing them can be impolite or seen as rejecting someone’s kindness. Appreciate the giver’s generosity and understand that the offering represents a sacrifice of their own resources. Rejoice in the giver’s generosity: Be happy for the giver’s spiritual practice of making the offering, which helps them to reduce their own attachments to material possessions. In Buddhism, receiving offerings requires an attitude of rejoicing in the giver’s generosity, understanding the offering as a practice for the donor, and a commitment to use it to benefit others. Recipients should have a compassionate and selfless motivation, viewing the act as a mutual opportunity for generosity and a way to help the giver reduce their attachments. Well using the offering wisely to further spiritual practice and the benefit of all sentient beings. We encouraged to make offerings to the Three Jewels but even more so, we are encouraged to make offerings to our gurus, considered the most precious of all. A precise teachings from this post.
Thank you Rinpoche and Khong Jean Ai.

Offering butter lamps is a Buddhist practice symbolizing wisdom dispelling ignorance. Many benefits when we offer butter lamps such as accumulating merit, purifying negativity, achieving spiritual clarity, and receiving blessings for wealth and well-being. The act is a powerful act of devotion, helps guide the deceased, and is used to focus one’s mind for meditation. When we practices with correct motivation it lead us to greater wisdom, clarity of mind, and the ability to discern virtue from non-virtue. The ultimate goal is to use this practice as a step toward enlightenment and liberation from suffering. The flame of the lamp symbolizes wisdom, and lighting it represents the removal of the darkness of ignorance and confusion. Awesome …offering butter lamps is seen as a way to generate good karma and merit for oneself and others. As this light offerings brings happiness, liberation from suffering, enlightenment, and the ability to help others as well.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing. with the detailed explanation of why we do butter lamps. A profound teachings.

Am so glad to be expressing my profound gratitude to a man that is so concerned about other people’s well being. I was suffering from (HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS TYPE II) The doctors keep telling me that there is no cure but i believe that there is a cure somewhere and they don’t want people to get cured. I tried searching online if I could see anything that will help me and a comment on online on how Dr Ehi help to cure herpes with herbs and i also saw so many comments about him on many web pages on how he had helped and cured so many people suffering from HERPES 1$2, HPV, CANCER, HIV/AIDS, COLD SORE etc. So I contacted him through his email and I shared my problems with him and he sent me the herbs through UPS and gave me instructions on how to use it. It took me two weeks to finish the herbs and after I finished using it, he told me to go for a medical test, behold the result was negative, now I am HERPES VIRUS free. I just want to use this platform to thank Dr Ehi for curing me from that horrible disease and also for exposing his herbal cure to the world at large, please you can as well contact Dr Ehi on his email below. Found this old post , an example shown to us how compassionate Rinpoche was, helping those vendors on the streets . No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. Be kind whenever possible we could do to help those in need. It is always possible. In the second video showing how much care Rinpoche serving foods to workers and sharing, explaining with them about Dharma. Rinpoche kindness in action has inspired us to be kind and helping those who might fighting a hard battle. Everywhere we go, leave a glitter trail of kindness behind us if possible..
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor Seng Piow

Pilgrimage is important in Buddhism because it deepens spiritual understanding, fosters a connection to the Buddha’s life and teachings. It also provides us the opportunities for personal transformation. It helps practitioners to purify negative karma, cultivate positive merit, and strengthen their devotion to the Three Jewels. Visiting sacred sites can also inspire virtuous conduct and a sense of urgency in practicing the faith. Some places of pilgrimage have powerful energy which can bring our mind to present moment. Major sites of Buddhist pilgrimage are often found in northern India in places associated with the Buddha’s life, teaching and enlightenment. Going on a pilgrimage gives us a chance to step away from the chaos of our schedules.
Reading this article again reminds me of my pilgrimage to Nepal years back,. It’s a once life time trip but I am glad made it twice.
It’s a great memories for Pastor David and Paul who brought their parents om pilgrimage to India and Nepal. Awesome …they embarked on a spiritual journey in India and Nepal visited sacred temples, ancient Buddhist sites and Serpom Monastery.
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor David for this sharing

The Nature of the mind is a central concept across various philosophical traditions, It generally refers to the mind’s intrinsic characteristics. As it believed to encompass awareness, purity, and a capacity for both peace and agitation. Most spiritual traditions offer some combination of four practices for those who would seek to know their true nature. We could self-transform through training our mind. When we face difficult situations and things go poorly in our lives, if we’re able to change our attitudes toward them, we’ll be able to transform these experiences into ones that will further our spiritual progress. A profound teachings indeed for us to understand more about the true nature of our minds and how we can transform our minds through sincerely practicing.

Wow…..800 White Tara statues been offered to HE Tsem Rinpoche from the Board of Directors in Kechara. Tsem Rinpoche kept 3 and the rest was offered to the monks in Shar Gaden Monastery back in 2013. That’s more beneficial and having arranged these statues shipped to India for the monks at the monastery on Rinpoche behalf. October 2014, Beng Kooi and her team of 5 people, along with 29 pilgrims had their first experience travelling to a monastic setting. Rejoice to them such a meaningful journey whereby they met with many high lamas and many old, holy monks. They did offered the White Tara statues, robes, books, food, drinks and many wonderful and beautiful pictures offerings to the monks. Looking at those pictures in this blog post tells more. Truly a great memories for them.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
