Chariots of the Gods

Here is another one of my favourite videos. Before the videos, it was the best selling book!

I read this book decades ago several times and it really ‘made sense’ to me. I loved the book and I loved this documentary based on the book. I remember being in my bedroom laying down on my bed decades back as a kid, and head rested on a double pillow voraciously reading. Mom and dad were out for the afternoon, and I would be on my own to read!! Pure heaven I used to think!!

I read about Buddhism, the Buddhist saints, their writings, mysteries, Bigfoot, UFOs… lazy New Jersey summers of reading. Or in the winter when it would snow, and you are trapped indoors, what’s better than reading? Especially if there was a snowstorm, and NO SCHOOL THAT DAY!!!!! Yes!!! No School! I would read, paint, chant, meditate, memorise mantras! Then read again!

I love the evidence, theories, photos and research that has been put into this incredible video. Although made decades ago, it is still very watchable I feel. I love the many paintings ‘from the bible’ which actually if you look at it carefully really does look like alien crafts. Totally believable. Watch carefully and several times to understand the enormity of the theories propounded.

Biography of Erich von Däniken

Erich Von Däniken is a writer best known as an ardent proponent of the “Ancient Astronaut” hypothesis of life on Earth. His 40 books have been translated into 32 languages and sold over 63 million copies, bringing the theory of “paleo-contact” between humans and aliens into the mainstream. This theory holds that during the earliest evolutionary periods of humanity, intelligent extra-terrestrial beings visited our planet. Due to contact with these aliens, our paleolithic forefathers were influenced to create culture, technologies and even systems of religions. Staunch proponents even believe that it was in fact these aliens that created some of the world’s oldest and mysterious monuments such as the Moai stone heads of Eastern Island or the Pyramids of Egypt.

ChariotsOfTheGods007

Erich Anton Paul von Däniken was born in 1935 in Zofingen, northern Switzerland. His Swiss Roman Catholic upbringing was unremarkable but for the fact that he challenged the Church’s views on Creationism. It was in his school days at Saint-Michel International Catholic School in Fribourg that he developed a keen interest in astronomy and UFOs.

As a boy, Von Däniken spent much of his free time reading about ancient texts and unsolved archaeological mysteries. However, his earliest writings were on his other passion, gastronomy.

The future bestselling author had a somewhat chequered start to adulthood. At 19, he received a four-month suspended sentence for theft. He left Switzerland and lived in Egypt for a time. The mysteries of the ancient Egyptians would come to feature heavily in his future works.

Von Däniken’s first foray into writing about the unexplained came in December 1964. His article, Hatten unsere Vorfahren Besuch aus dem Weltraum? (Did our Ancestors Receive Visitors from Space?) appeared in the German-Canadian periodical Der Nordwesten.

Unfortunately, Von Däniken’s writing career hit a speed-bump. He was involved in an Egyptian jewellery deal that resulted in a nine-month sentence for fraud and embezzlement in Switzerland.

After his release, Von Däniken found work as a hotel manager. He worked on his first book at night after guests had retired. Released in April 1968, it was titled Erinnerungen an die Zukunft (Memories of the Future).

ChariotsOfTheGods008

The book was a runaway success but Von Däniken’s legal troubles continued. In November 1968, just as his star as an author was rising, Von Däniken was again convicted of fraud. It was revealed in court that he had falsified records to obtain CH 12,000 in loans over 12 years, ostensibly to fund his research. (Von Däniken had fabricated his referrals but repaid the money in full with the proceeds from the book).

Meanwhile, Erinnerungen an die Zukunft had been translated into English and released as the legendary Chariots of the Gods?, cementing Von Däniken’s place as an international star.

The author’s wobbly life journey continued, though, with another conviction for fraud in February 1970. He was sentenced to three and a half years’ jail but released after serving one year. He wrote his second book, Gods from Outer Space while imprisoned and has kept a clean record since.

Von Däniken’s books have been turned into documentaries that have proven to be just as popular. He collaborated on a 3-part documentary based on his major works in the 1980s. In 1993, he hosted a 25-episode television series that was broadcast on German TV. The series’ high viewership kept it on a regular broadcast schedule twice a month for a whole year.

The MUS television network, ABC, also produced a documentary on Erich Von Däniken’s book and it was broadcast on German TV channel RTL. In 1998, the world’s largest public broadcaster, ARD produced a documentary on Von Däniken. British television station Twenty-Twenty made a biopic on his life in 2001. The program was screened on UK’s Channel 4 and has been telecast around the world since.

It is obvious that Von Däniken’s ideas, though not original, were presented in a way that engaged and fascinated the average person. It is perhaps how he capitalised on – and sensationalised – their findings that most infuriated (and continues to infuriate) the scientific community. They still largely look upon with scorn at the man whose efforts have given their otherwise esoteric research a spotlight in popular culture. Today, Von Däniken remains one of the most sought-after speakers on the UFO and Unexplained Mysteries circuit.

Chariots of the Gods?

Erich Von Däniken’s first book, Chariots of the Gods? is arguably also his most famous. Written originally in Von Däniken’s native German, it was released as Erinnerungen an die Zukunft: Ungelöste Rätsel der Vergangenheit (Memories of the Future: Unsolved Mysteries of the Past) in April 1968.

ChariotsOfTheGods009

However, the book went gone through a lengthy gestation as the response from publishers to the first draft was decidedly underwhelming. The manuscript had to be professionally rewritten by Wilhelm Leapfrogged (the pen name of the German screenwriter Wilhelm “Utz” Utermann) before finally getting a print run from the Econ-Verlag publishing house.

Following the phenomenal success of the German version, it was translated into English by Michael Heron and released as Chariots of the Gods?: Was God an Astronaut? in 1969. The book went on to mesmerise generations of readers and inspire intense debate about Man, his origins and the source of his knowledge.

The Evidence

The central premise of Chariots of the Gods? is that ancient civilisations from across the planet have left behind signs of anachronistic technology. Von Däniken pushes the hypothesis that this phenomenon is best and most easily explained by extra-terrestrial contact, where aliens shared their sophisticated knowledge with mankind.

Von Däniken’s views were not new, even when he wrote about them in the ‘60s. They were based on theories postulated by archaeologists and scientists that preceded him using much of the same evidence. This is not surprising – history and archaeology are replete with examples of objects and advancements in technology that seem not to fit their respective times.

ChariotsOfTheGods010

Among the most well-known of these are the ancient Egyptian Pyramids, Stonehenge and the Moai of Easter Island. Von Däniken also suggests that the medieval Piri Reis Map depicts the continents of Earth as seen from space and that the shapes made by the Nazca lines of Peru would only serve a purpose as signals to airborne craft.

The second thrust of Von Däniken’s arguments is that some ancient artwork depicts alien beings with whom ancient humans had direct contact. Others show fantastic machines with features and details similar to spacecraft of today.

Many of these artifacts and relics are religious in nature, leading him to conclude that the vastly superior technology of alien visitors led men to assume they were gods. To support this claim, Von Däniken points to the similarities between myths and legends separated by vast expanses of space and time that all speak of visitors from the heavens.

Dogu Figurines – Japan

ChariotsOfTheGods011a

Dogu statues were common in Japan during the Jomon period (14,000 – 300 BCE). They depict a short and stout figure wearing what Von Däniken interprets as protective goggles and breathing apparatus. In some, the arms do not end in hands but in two pincer-like claws similar to equipment used by modern astronauts to manipulate objects during spacewalks.

Vimana – India

ChariotsOfTheGods012

The ancient Hindu text of the Ramayan describes flying machines termed vimana that travelled “at great heights with the aid of quicksilver and a great propulsive wind”. They could “cover vast distances and could travel forwards, upwards and downwards”.

Von Däniken highlights this particular section as being reminiscent of the launch of a spacecraft:

At Rama’s behest the magnificent chariot rose up to a mountain of cloud with a tremendous din…

This description is similar to one found in the other Hindu epic, the Mahabharat:

Bheem flew with his vimana on an enormous ray which was as brilliant as the sun…

Spacecraft – Visoki Decani Monastery, Kosovo

ChariotsOfTheGod001

This depiction is from a fresco entitled “The Crucifixion” dating from 1350. It resembles a man inside a spaceship and flying above the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. They are in Kosovo Visoki Decani monastery, placed above the altar.

The church of the monastery was decorated with frescoes in the 14th century. The fresco appears to depict not one but two aerodynamic flying craft in the skies above the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Within each craft is a man manipulating some controls while flames emerge from the rear of their airborne vehicles.

Mayan Spacecraft – Palenque, Mexico

In the Mayan ruin site of Palenque, there is a Temple of Inscriptions, where the ancient Mayan ruler, Pakal, was buried. On his sarcophagus was engraved a picture of the dead king seated at the controls of a spaceship-like contraption, surrounded by flames.

Perhaps the most compelling existing ancient image of spacecraft is contained within the Mayan ruins at Palenque in Mexico. Within a pyramid named the Temple of Inscriptions sits a monolithic stone slab 3.8 metres long and 2.2 metres wide that weighs over a ton. It covers the tomb of a ruler named Pakal who died in 683 CE.

Von Däniken and other ancient alien researchers believe it shows Pakal sitting at the controls of a spacecraft. A breathing apparatus is at his nose while his hands and one foot manipulate levers. Behind him, outside the craft are flames.

The knowledge of the ancient Mayans, particularly in their understanding of the passage of time, is striking. Could they have obtained their insight through aerial observation from the heavens?

Quimbaya Airplanes – Columbia

The Incan civilisation of South America left behind “ancient aeroplanes”, which are small golden figurines that closely resemble modern jet planes.

The Incan civilisation of South America left behind “ancient aeroplanes”, which are small golden figurines that closely resemble modern jet planes.

The golden “aeroplanes” left behind by the Quimbaya people of Columbia who lived between 1000 and 1500 CE are perhaps the most widespread and the most scientifically-sound examples of ancient technology. Approximately two centimetres in length, they were recovered from royal tombs.

There has always been an intense debate over whether they are replicas of aircraft or of insects. Researchers point out that while the Quimbaya depicted insects accurately, these artefacts are biologically impossible because of the upright tail fins and wings beneath the body – neither exist in nature.

The matter seems to have been resolved in Von Däniken’s favour when accurate models of the relics fitted with jet engines proved to be capable of stable flight, take-off and landing.

Ancient Astronauts – The Alps, Italy

These cryptic drawings known as petroglyphs was discovered in Italy. It appears to show two men wearing helmets with strange weapons.

These cryptic drawings known as petroglyphs was discovered in Italy. It appears to show two men wearing helmets with strange weapons.

Valcamonica is an area close to the central Alps in Italy. It is home to over 200,000 images drawn on rocks over 10,000 years ago. While most of the images are of mundane objects and animals, two humanoid figures pictured facing each other seem to represent something else entirely.

They each have been drawn with what seem to be transparent helmets within which their heads are visible. Just as cryptic are the objects that they hold in their hands which seem neither to be the weapons of the time nor anything else we can recognise. Von Däniken and others assert that they are holding advanced weapons.

Ancient Astronaut and others – The Nazca Lines, Peru

The Nazca lines in Peru, South America are known as geoglyphs or “ground drawings” and they are massive. They either run parallel or they form into over 300 different geometric patterns including 70 animal and plant shapes. Perhaps the most endearing and intriguing is an etching of a humanoid figure nicknamed “The Astronaut" as pictured here.

Perhaps the most endearing and intriguing is an etching of a humanoid figure nicknamed “The Astronaut” as pictured here.

The ancient geoglyphs of Nazca in Peru were created between 500 BCE and 500 CE. The smallest of them are about 370 metres long while the largest are over 1.1 kilometre across. The most common subjects are animals such as the hummingbird, spider, llama, jaguar and monkey and a human, but they also include trees and flowers.

However, the most striking is a figure dubbed “The Astronaut”. It depicts a humanoid figure with a hand raised, perhaps in greeting. No facial features are shown apart from two oversized eyes while the head is distinctly block-shaped. The figure’s feet are also chunky, reminiscent of the shoes worn by astronauts.

Chariots of the Gods endures as proof that Earth has been visited repeatedly by advanced aliens from other worlds. Researchers has discovered ancient ruins, lost cities, spaceports, and a countless of hard scientific facts that point to fictional beings from outer space intervention in human history. The ground breaking classic film by Erich von Däniken that introduced the theory that ancient Earth established contact with aliens.
Scientist and archeologist went searching for more evidence to support the findings. They even went through the excavation sites and the analysis of artefacts and others such as paintings on the caves . Most incredible of all, Scientist ‘s theory is that we are the descendants of these galactic pioneers. And also reveals the archeological discoveries that prove it that we are not alone.

Thank you, Rinpoche, for sharing with us what constitute a good presentation of a debatable topic. Evidence of visitors from space had been recorded in many civilisation throughout history, it even appeared in the volumes in Tibetan Buddhism scriptures. The fiery chariots of the “Gods” in those ancient records resemble spacecraft by today’s standard. It leads me to feel that as mankind gain more knowledge of the wider horizon of living beings, we are getting closer to realising how small we actually are.

None of my friends would dare to even reply or comment on any of the emails of ufo related Youtube shared with them. I suppose they worry someone might laugh at them and look at them from different angles.

Watch these videos. The first video is the most outrageous claim with footage of alien in the Youtube by far. 1.5 billions year old ancient aliens and ship found on the dark side of the moon. Allegedly was explored in the 70s by Soviet/US. It is almost unbelievable till you watch how real the aliens look like and she really look like human.

If the US government were to admit the truth, all the major God-centric religions that say God created men and Earth is the centre of the universe and we are the only intelligent beings created by God, will be have be thrown out.

    Terima Kasih Rinpoche!
Many speculations about these beings and of course, when and what these ancients and even up until today have experienced have all been debatable subjects.
One that I have heard repeated oft will be the condescending remark that the ancient Egyptians were not humans (given such massive intelligence existing in their past history) as compared to today’s generations which could not even ‘manage’ themselves.
Then another assertion I heard amongst some Christians is that some of the visions of the old Prophets were near descriptions of alien lifeforms but interpreted as ‘angels’ and their own pecking order.
Buddhist cosmology has also been an interesting topic of debate with some speculating that perhaps popular version with the 6 realms and all of its respective classes was not taught by the Buddha but later additions in order to pacify societies’ curiosity then and even now?
And of course the famed government conspiracy theories…
Thank You Rinpoche for the vids and sharing with us.

What peaked my curiosity is – why has Tsem Rinpoche been curious about UFOs, aliens and supernatural? Perhaps Rinpoche knows that beings are interconnected via minds and space. Aliens or UFOs may be presented to us in their weird form or formless because we have not seen them with our own eyes. But do they exist? That is the question asked here.
There was archeological evidence to support the fact that UFOs have visited earth thousands of years ago but the government wishes to protect us from discovering the real truth. Are we really alone in the cosmic wilderness?

  10. David Lai on Jul 5, 2010 at 2:31 pm

I love Chariots of the Gods too! I read the book many years ago because I found it in my dad’s collection of old books. Along with the believable theories propounded, there were many compelling photos of ancient sites from around the world to back up the hypotheses written within this book.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing with us your childhood interest and your friends. I am thoroughly amazed that Rinpoche could actually remember their complicated European names. I share similar childhood experience of liking the paranormal but none of neighbourhood friends and classmates are into these things.
Perhaps, such inquisitive mind is typical of those interested in Buddhism as we are constantly curious about how our minds and our world exists and work. Heck! Buddha even did talked about other worlds and dimensions of existence. That’s what makes Buddhism so incredible and a fantastic spiritual tradition that transcends time, culture and even space! I know, how very Star Trek!

Unfortunately in my neighborhood and with my friends I WAS THE ONLY ONE INTERESTED IN UFO’S. I was the only one interested in Bigfoot, and mysteries. I didn’t have anyone to talk to about it with. My step-parents didn’t have any clue what I was talking about. They were too busy living the American Dream (whatever that was).
I would have enjoyed so much to have a group of friends or a club to discuss and ‘investigate’ deeper into all these mysteries.
I had great neighborhood friends. I wonder what happened to them. We all lived on the same West 3rd Street in Howell, New Jersey.
I had Pat Miskovic (Yugoslavian boy), Dawn Giordano (Italian girl), Greta Meirerhaufer (German girl), Ray Polovino (Yugoslavian Boy), Marc Reed (who lived on Hulses Corner Rd), Mira Polovino and Pat’s sister, Slavica Miskovic. We had great times. Marc didn’t join us, but I would hang out with him at his house, yard and with his siblings or bike ride to Six Flags Great Adventure and Turkey Swamp. I like Marc alot…he is a great guy and very nice fellow.
I miss all the friends quite alot. I wish I was in closer contact with them and knew where they are. It’s like that movie ‘It’ where the kids are all grown up, but they have a pact and strong bond. They come back to their home town to meet up again to combat the supernatural clown. I like that movie because as kids they bonded and as adults, the bond was there.
I wonder where Pat, Ray, Slavica, Greta, Dawn and Mira are now. We had such INCREDIBLE FUN SUMMERS. We’d play all day and night. Pat’s parents were Yugoslavian immigrants that lived across the street from us. Pat’s parents were very generous and fed us kids daily and plenty of 7-up. Pat had a big yard and garden. Was fun
. Pat and I hung out almost everyday also.
I really do miss all of them and can’t ever forget them. I hope they are ok…

Interesting article indeed tells us a thousand words of a Great Lama . When Lama Tsongkhapa Lobzang Drakpa was born many people witnessed numerous auspicious sign. He could understand and memorized complicated texts at a very young age proving that he was someone very special. He received many teachings and tantric initiations from many great masters of different lineages. Many of Lama Tshongkhapa’s teachings were composed through the instructions and inspiration of deities and masters appearing in pure vision. Tsongkhapa was a prolific author of tantric literature, composing and gave teaching to many of what he had discovered. Tsongkhapa’s fame as a great scholar and realized practitioner was well known and respected by many all over Tibet and China. Even the Yongle Emperor of the Chinese Ming Dynasty invited him to give teachings. Interesting article to understand better of this Great Lama.

Trulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was an important Gelugpa lama who gave up his life to arise as the World Peace Protector Dorje Shugden.Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen , who had reincarnated lifetime after lifetime to benefit all beings. He and the Fifth Dalai Lama had shared a very respectful and close relationship. He was one of the most highly respected and sought-after Lamas of the land. He was deeply learned and well-versed in scriptures, and also having received many direct visions of deities and exalted Gurus. Rare and very precious secret writings of Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen can be found in Music Delighting an Ocean of Protectors. He was truly a great teacher of all time.

Reading again this article to get a better understanding of the significance of placing our Dharma statues and items in the correct order. Nor matter what the statues made of we have to respect it and placing correctly. In the Buddhist tradition, statues are created to represent Buddha. Each Buddha image represents the spirit of the teachings of Buddha. Each statue features common physical attributes, poses, and postures that define its purpose and meaning.

nteresting read of a great Lama Tsarchen Losal Gyatso who is the founder of the Sakya tradition. One of the three branches of the Sakya School, which is part of Tibetan Buddhism. Interesting story of how his illness was occurred and meeting the mysterious lady at monastery courtyard well. The lady who gave him a small Tibetan pecha manuscript wrapped in cloth before vanishing. Apparently Vajrayogini had appeared to him leading him to the great master Doringpa at Tashi Lhunpo. Since then he studied with 63 masters of all traditions. He had travelled tremendously to various place to perform great deeds, giving teachings and benefiting all whom he encountered along his journey.

interesting read of Kentrul Thubten Lamsang Rinpoche, one of our Guru previous life. He was one of the most important disciples of Kyabje Trijang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso. Kentrul Rinpoche had spent many years in remote areas like Phari on the Tibet-India border. Where he worked tirelessly to improve the condition of local monasteries and built large Buddha statues. He even built a three-storey statue of Maitreya Buddha. Highly respected by many locals and remembered by monks of the monastery for his work. Kentrul Rinpoche was also known for performing extensive pujas for people of the area. Kentrul Rinpoche will always be remembered as the lama who remained devoted to his teacher until his final moments. He went out of his way to help the sufferings, in desperate situations. His is a legacy that is timeless and beyond compare. Both Kentrul Rinpoche and our Guru Tsem Rinpoche’s activities did exhibit an unquenchable thirst and curiosity for Dharma, Guru devotion . Both have the similarities after-all. Interesting read, shared by Pastor Jean Ai on Tsem Rinpoche ‘s previous reincarnation.
    Thank you Rinpoche.

Very interesting article of great Lamas whom I never find it bored reading over and over again. Anything related to history had me feeling excited.
Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was a great master, meditator, teacher, logician, yogi, siddha and erudite scholar. He was an important Gelugpa lama and a contemporary of the 5th Dalai Lama’s time. Even more than three hundred years ago he was eliminated yet he continued reincarnating until present day as been confirmed by many great beings. Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen in fulfilling the promise he made to Nechung protector arose as World Peace Protector Dorje Shugden, merely to serve the teachings of Je Tsongkapa and sentient beings. After realising the mistakes done by his officers 5th Dalai Lama built a Dorje Shugden chapel and even composed a prayers texts to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen. He named the Chapel as Trode Khangsar which still exist to this day at Lhasa, Tibet .May more people reading this article to understand more who is Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was. An interesting read.
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor David for this sharing.

The Kangxi Emperor was the third emperor of the Qing dynasty. He is considered by historians to be one of the greatest emperors in the history of China. Having ruled China over 61 years, he was the longest-reigning Chinese emperors in dynastic history. He was thought of as one of the greatest emperors because, under his rule, the Qing empire started to prosper, dynastic succession was stabilized, and he was comparatively benevolent. He was also highly educated and was known as a hardworking emperor who ruled diligently. His rule was a period of expansion, stability, and prosperity for the Chinese Empire. Kangxi gave religious freedom to all religions and had sponsored many literary works, monasteries, monks and teachers all over China, Tibet and Mongolia. He was considered an extremely modern Emperor at that time whom was loved by many. He was said to be the reincarnation of Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen and an emanation of Manjushri as recorded in the ancient scriptures.
Thank you Rinpoche for this interesting sharing.

The unmistaken incarnation of Panchen Sonam Drakpa was proclaimed to be Sonam Yeshe Wangpo. From birth, he spoke with clairvoyance and seemed to remember people and events of his past life. Even as a young man , he travelled tremendously as part of his retinue, with the 3rd Dalai Lama and gave various teachings as well. Throughout the journey, he had even composed verses to praise and commentaries on the teachings.

Spirits and unseen beings are everywhere not only actually restricted to specific areas. Places such as cemeteries, abandoned houses or places where death occurred. There are many different types of spirits around us, unseen to the naked eye, but for some they could see it or sense their presence. Many people of different faith reported having experienced sense the presence of spirits. Interesting rather scary reading Steven Wong ghostly experienced in the motel . I have encounter such before staying in hotel . More scary I can say. That’s past history, since coming to Buddhism I am not scare at all , I will recite DS Mantra . Later do prayers and dedicate to them .

Reading this article written by Tsering Shakya, again as it tells us more and understand better of the situation suffered by Tibetan people. Due to the Dorje Shugden controversy many Tibetans suffered . Many of them migrated to other countries to the west for better opportunities. Tibetan culture and identity is inseparably linked to Tibetan Buddhism. Somehow once in a foreign land they tend to lose their traditions and cultures slowly over times. Living in foreign land , it difficult to maintain their true identity. For them Tibetans maintaining links to the homeland presents a very unique challenges tasks. If only the Tibetan leadership more opened, forgo the past and accepts as what HH Dalai Lama said that Dorje Shugden is no evil and do no harm. Tibetan Buddhist could continue practicing the Dorje Shugden’s practice. Tibetan should stand united to protect the Tibetan heritage and culture instead discrimination against Dorje Shugden practitioners so much so had divided the Tibetans. Many of them left and migrated else where to look for better livelihood.
Tsem Rinpoche had gone through a rough time , rejected twice from the moment of birth from Taiwan to US and travelling to India where Rinpoche found a place called home then. Later to Malaysia as advice by his Guru.
To this end, the discrimination against Dorje Shugden practitioners must end for the sake of the all Tibetans living in India and Nepal .
A very good article by Tsering Shakya, more people should read it to understand better.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing

Feeling disappointed when someone a Sangha supposed to promote peace, harmony and helps to give teachings to those who are new instead promoting hatred, cursing another person. Its wrong to tell people to break their samaya with their teachers. They must be given the wrong information about Dorje Shugden and Shugden Buddhist practitioners . The Tibetan Leadership has spread their lies and causing misunderstanding among the Tibetans. The rights of Dorje Shugden practitioners were denied just because for practicing their religion as they have done for the past 400 years. Dorje Shugden practitioners are side-lined from their own community, denied medical care, education and even employment in government offices. The Tibetan Leadership has instituted this ban against Dorje Shugden causing sufferings among many. Sad indeed hopefully these controversy will dissolve soon as more people understand and know that Dorje Shugden is not an evil as claimed by the Tibetan leadership.
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor Jean Ai for this sharing.

Buddhism is one of the most popular religions all over the world. Buddha statues have different shapes, sizes, different gestures or mudras and styles of presentation. Well said by Tsem Rinpoche the bigger and more Buddha statues makes a difference in our life. It gives out more powerful positive and relaxing energy to help us. concentrate better. One of the methods for us to purify our karma to suit our current karma-bound situation. By circumambulating 500 mantra stones one time we could accumulate much more merits in just one round of circumambulation. All thanks to Rinpoche having this idea with many mantra stones as possible for us to circumambulate. The larger the Buddha image, the more merits are collected the greatest amount of benefit for one who sincerely circumambulating.
Thank you Rinpoche for this amazing post and explaining all the details for us to understand more.

Ra Lotsawa said to be an emanation of Manjushri was a great tantric master who had used wrathful means to subjugate his opponents. He was declared to be a saint and a fully enlightened Buddha. Many viewed as a murderous villain with magical powers and by some as a liberator of human suffering. Ra Lotsawa used his power and magical abilities to defeat his enemies rather rivals to accumulate wealth. He received many Empowerments and practices, which came into conflict with other lamas. His life offers a rare view into the often overlooked roles of magic and sorcery in the Buddhist tradition. In the book The All-Pervading Melodious Drumbeat tells the story of Ra Lotsawa Dorjé Drak . It was written by Ra Yeshe Sengye, and translated for the first time into English. Despite this obsessed legacy, his fame also rests on an illustrious career as a translator of Buddhist scriptures. Ra Lotsawa was so revered in Tibetan Buddhism even though he was so evil where nobody can denied. Interesting read an classic account of one of the most colourful and memorable figures in Tibetan Buddhist history.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer

We are in the third week of Ramadan this year, and kind volunteers have never failed to feed people in need since Tengku Zatashah started this meaningful #zerofoodwastage initiative in 2016. The aim is to benefit the underprivileged with nice surplus food collected from Ramadan buffets. Every night during the month of Ramadan, volunteers collect surplus cooked food from hotels and distribute it to charity homes and low-income families. THANK YOU, Tengku, dedicated volunteers and hotel partners, for making this Ramadan special for the underprivileged. #kecharasoupkitchen #kecharafoodbank #kecharaempowerment - KSK @ Vivian

In 2021, we've encountered far too many challenges—Pandemic, months-long lockdown, landslide, and flood. We are proud to witness Malaysians helping one another as these agonies come sequentially. Looking back to 2021, Kechara Soup Kitchen has made significant progress, with more to come in 2022. Every year, we move a little closer to our vision. We are immensely thankful to have such dedicated teams of volunteers willing to go above and beyond for our clients. Not to mention our sponsors and donors; none of this would have been possible without you. Thank you. Thank you for being you. Thank you for helping the underprivileged to a better future. Have a blessed year ahead from our hearts to your hearts. #2022 #newyear #kecharasoupkitchen #kecharafoodbank #kecharaempowerment
