Setrap Kawang
58 attendees at tonight’s Setrap puja to accumulate 4524 kawang or confessionals to purify for obstacles to become clear. 1000 will be done by Chinese Setrap group tomorrow night to complete the 11k required.
Setrap really is helpful and shows signs to people. His sacred practice originating from Gaden is taking off more and more.

Hi Khang,
The prayers you’re requesting for are available here: https://resources.tsemtulku.com/prayers/protector-prayers/prayer-serkym-to-the-dharmapala-setrap.html
Thank you,
Pastor Jean Ai
It’s been 8 years since this article was posted. To me, it shows that the methods recommended by Rinpoche has been the same for the past few years and also for now. Rinpoche has also repeatedly reminded us to do retreats, purification practices such as prostration, chant Manjushri mantras daily and so many more. Hence, instead of asking for more practices or any quick fix practices, shouldn’t we ask ourselves “Have we done our part? “.
Even up until now, Rinpoche has recommended us to recite kawang and to do it at least 7 times daily or more. It is especially very beneficial to recite this when the mind is unstable or when we are undertaking any big Dharma projects. ?
Thanks Rinpoche for including the kawang prayer here (The Diamond Path) which is convenient and we won’t miss doing it daily if we have done our sadhana daily and consistently http://www.dorjeshugden.org/practice/diamond-path-a-daily-sadhana-of-dorje-shugden
Dear Rinpoche,
It is very nice to see many people gather together to recite Lord Setrap’s kawang. Kawang can purify our karma very effectively and excellent to recite it repeatedly. Although now is the time of Dorje Shugden, i always felt a good vibe whenever i saw Setrap image or reciting his mantra. I like Setrap alot and he is the first protector i have when i first joined the protector puja 2 years ago.
Humbly,
Chris
At first i’m not used to recite Kawang but when i understand the meaning behind, i just find the meditation accompanied is so skillful in helping us to visualize all our negative Karma are “chopped” and removed from us.
Thank you Rinpoche & Kechara for bringing Dharmapala Setrap & Setrap Kangsol to us. With folder palms.
Setrap is our centre Kechara House main Protector. He is also Amitabha in the wrathful form. Setrap has help a lot of people solved their problems very quickly depending on their motivation and urgency. He helps you according to what he feels will benefit you and not cause harm to you and other people. Some people do not have enough faith and merits to understand and when they do not get their wishes fulfilled they go away. During June this year a Kawang or confessionals recitation was organised for people to join and complete 11k times by 2 groups of people. The English and Chinese group jointly to be done collectively. This Setrap Kawang was done to clear any obstacles so that things will become clear and runs smoothly.
Rinpoche has very kindly advised us that the Kawang of Dharma protectors is a very powerful practice we can do every single day to clear obstacles and purify negative karmas.
We can recite this every day, as many times as possible, as a part of our daily Kangsol (protector) practice. Contemplate deeply on all our negativities; we visualise all our negative karma, delusions, angers, bitterness, sadness in the form of all the very vivid imagery described in the prayers. We visualise that all our negative manifests as a body, which we then chop up into separate parts (blood, fat, bones, bile etc) and offer away from ourselves, up to the enlightened protectors who will take it away from us.
The imagery sounds very violent here but it is all meant to be symbolic, representing all the “violent” and “angry” delusions, negativities that we harbour within in and which harm us in the long term. Rinpoche has also advised us that it’s good to combine this practice with recitation of the Confession (Shakpa) of our Dharma Protector’s kangsol. We can also do this everyday and it’s a very powerful purification practice in itself.
In the case of doing a kawang retreat, such as for Kechara (or for your family / business / group), it is excellent for purification and clearing the collective obstacles that we may have as a group so that group projects and activities will be successful.
Have a splendid practice and do as many kawangs as you can – there can only be good results 🙂
Setrap puja held every night on Mondays and Tuesdays in Kechara House is by far the most popular. This is no co-incidence.
It is a fact that during this degenerate time, and when people’s merits are low,we encounter many obstacles which prevent us from engaging in dharma work and practice.our minds are easily disturbed by small and big things which could range from the domestic- like family disharmony & relationships, the financial or black magic and spirit possession.
Setrap is a very powerful enlightened protector which comes to our help whenever we invoke him with sincerity and always with good motivation for self improvement and with concern for others. Read the many accounts of people who have received his help – even granting couples without child for years to have a baby.
Thank you so much for your teaching Rinpoche and for teaching us about Setrap.
