Tibetan Leadership’s New Anti-Shugden Video

TibetanFlagDear friends around the world,

Although the Central Tibetan Administration (or CTA) claims there is no ban against the worship of Dorje Shugden, it has not stopped them from releasing books, videos and other publications over the last 20 years to campaign against the worship of Dorje Shugden. Peddling their own form of propaganda, they have exploited many members of the Tibetan community and leadership, in an attempt to warn people against Dorje Shugden practice. Is it logical for anyone to direct all of this effort, creativity and resources into something they claim is a non-issue because there’s no ban and there is religious freedom? It doesn’t sound very logical to me.

Their latest release was Shugden Protestors: Allegations versus Facts, which is a 13-minute documentary accompanied by a 400-over page publication. Released on November 14, 2016, the ‘documentary’ features the members of the Tibetan leadership speaking against the practice of Dorje Shugden. They draw unproven links between Dorje Shugden practitioners and the Chinese leadership. Thus, the video paints Shugden worshippers as traitors to the Tibetan people who are deserving of whatever misfortune, discrimination and suppression is directed against them.

The hardworking team in the midst of filming

The hardworking team in the midst of filming

My students were disturbed by this. As Malaysian citizens who have freedom of religion, they thought it was highly inappropriate for the Tibetan leaders who profess to be democratic, to appear in videos talking against the religion of their people. And why is an exiled government with some huge political goals to accomplish, so concerned about a religious denomination, practice or sect? And dedicating time, money and resources towards this? They, as a so-called exiled government, should never interfere in anyone’s religion or speak against it. No democratic government ever interferes in people’s personal choices.

Thus, on their own initiative, some of my students filmed videos countering the allegations made in the Tibetan leadership’s ‘documentary’. They did this because the video labelled all Dorje Shugden practitioners as having links with China. The video implied that being linked to China is somehow negative, bad and wrong. Being ethnic Chinese whose ancestors came from China, my students found this use of ‘Chinese’ as a slur to be very racist.

Host of The Paranormal Zone and mother of three boys, my student Ms Li Kim goes through material before the shoot. She's an excellent speaker.

Host of The Paranormal Zone and mother of three boys, my student Ms Li Kim goes through material before the shoot. She’s an excellent speaker.

They also felt extremely strongly that this ‘Chinese link’ label was unfair, without basis and evidence, and a huge generalisation of Dorje Shugden practitioners. Dorje Shugden practitioners come from all over the world, from all types of backgrounds and cultures, education and income levels, and ethnicities. For them, as proud Malaysian citizens, they felt that the CTA were infringing on Malaysia’s sovereign rights, by making comments about the religious faith and worship of another country’s citizens. Would it be acceptable and tolerated if, for example, the President or Prime Minister of a democratic country made discriminatory comments about the religious practices of their people, much less the practices of another nation’s citizens? This would apply for citizens of every country. This five-part video response by our knowledgeable people in Kechara not only represents religious freedom in Malaysia, but religious freedom for citizens across the world.

So contrary to what the Tibetan leadership claims, my students and I do not maintain our practice of Dorje Shugden because someone pays us or tells us to do so. Personally, I do not practise Dorje Shugden because I am misguided. I practise Dorje Shugden because my root guru, His Holiness Kyabje Zong Rinpoche, gave me the practice and I have previously spoken about this here. But regardless of my reasons, those are my personal reasons and my choice to practise is a personal one and it should not be policed or commented on by any external so-called secular authorities. In fact, I should not even have to explain why I made my choice but the sad fact is, due to the Dorje Shugden ban, I do have to.

I would like to thank my students who are learned friends, led by Martin Chow, for filming and arranging these response videos, and for people like the hardworking production team who gave their expertise and worked so hard to get these videos out quickly. It was in their compassion and wish to clear ignorance that they worked so hard. Special mention should be given to Ms Li Kim, Pastor Niral, Pastor Jean Ai and Beng Kooi for their dedication in wanting to bring this practice to many people. They did this on very short notice but did so due to their understanding of the urgency of the situation. Thank you very much for your hard work and your efforts in this. It touched my heart deeply to see that people care and speak up strongly against injustice and misinformation. I hope you will watch these videos and it will add to your thoughts and awareness of the ban on Dorje Shugden worship. Please do share these videos with your friends.

Debunking the CTA Video,
Shugden Protesters: Allegation versus Facts

It has been 20 years since the Dorje Shugden controversy erupted in 1996 when a prohibition was placed on this centuries-old Dharma Protector practice. And lying in its wake are trails of broken families, divided monasteries and utter confusion. All these bear testimony that the conflict has brought nothing but ongoing suffering, and yet the problem continues to persist.

It is Buddhism, perhaps, that is feeling the most harmful blow thrown by this particular controversy. The Buddha foresaw catastrophes like this and warned sternly that schism must never be allowed to infiltrate the monastic communities whom the public view as stalwarts of the religion.

Yet today, Tibetan Buddhists all over the world, both old and seasoned as well as new and untrained struggle with a multitude of questions as doubt arises each time the Dorje Shugden conflict is fanned. If an ancient practice once thought to be holy and perfect can overnight become devilish and seditious, then what is sacred and reliable?

Many have heard rumours about Dorje Shugden and wonder if they are unknowingly participating in something unwholesome, or even criminal. Others who are not Shugden worshippers are left wondering of the authenticity of their spiritual teacher, the validity of their own lineage and practice and whether one day, they too will be found to have engaged in a wrong spiritual practice and become spiritual ‘outlaws’ after all. This is how grievously the Dorje Shugden conflict has muddled and obscured the Buddha’s own teachings.

It is none other than the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) who have inflicted the Dorje Shugden controversy on their own people and who continue to perpetrate it on a global scale, to the detriment of the peace and happiness all Buddhists are seeking. Their latest video called ‘Shugden Protesters: Allegations versus Facts’ adds to this chaos. Therefore, there is dire need for clarification and to separate fact from fiction. To neglect such malignance is tantamount to having a hand in signing the death warrant of Tibetan Buddhism.

The CTA video purports to present evidence and reliable testimonies of Shugden people being a clandestine group who do the bidding of their political masters, China, in consideration of monetary gains. In addition, the CTA made a number of untrue assertions that this post and corresponding videos will address and invalidate with logic and evidentiary facts. Some of the more serious claims are, in essence, as follows:

  1. That the practice of Dorje Shugden is done in defiance of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama;
  2. That Dorje Shugden worshippers are merely tools of the Chinese government;
  3. That Dorje Shugden groups are extremist cults that will resort to violent crimes including murder;
  4. That there is no discrimination against Dorje Shugden monks and lay practitioners;
  5. That Dorje Shugden is not a proper Buddhist practice embraced by a small group

In sum, the holy practice of an enlightened Protector is smeared in language of hate that needs to be disproved. And the five videos in this blog post aim to do just that.

The Videos:

  1. The first video ‘Allegations of Chinese Links – Is There Any Truth?’ debunks the CTA’s claim that Dorje Shugden practitioners are in fact merely diabolical tools of an evil regime out to undermine His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This video examines what the CTA video offers as proof and exposes the flaws in the suggestion.
  2. The second video ‘The CTA’s Role in the Shugden Conflict’ is a rejoinder to Sikyong Lobsang Sangay’s denial that there is discrimination against Dorje Shugden practitioners. In the CTA video, the Sikyong invited advice as to whether harm may have been done to Shugden practitioners and this video complies with the Sikyong’s request.
  3. The third video ‘Misdirection’ tackles the multitude of misinformation contained in the CTA video, which if left unchecked would so severely and unfairly destroy the good standing of Shugden monks and people.
  4. The fourth video ‘A Body Of Evidence’ chronicles the systemic persecution of Shugden practitioners and offers as proof a litany of documents and photographs that without question speak of the sufferings that have been brought upon Shugden people.
  5. In the last video ‘Appeal to the Dalai Lama’, we seek to correct the harmful rumor that to practice this holy Shugden practice is to hate His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The practice of Dorje Shugden cultivates peace and harmony and therefore it would be difficult to hate anyone, let alone His Holiness himself.

Finally, whilst rebuttals to wrong allegations against Dorje Shugden are necessary and must continue at all costs, it is our most sincere wish and prayer that His Holiness the Dalai Lama would call for an end to this already protracted quarrel. Time and resources should ideally be utilised to promote the Buddhist teachings to all corners of the world, to train kind and beneficent teachers who are qualified to carry the many Tibetan Buddhist lineages forward, and to apply the teachings to free our minds from samsara.

We pray that His Holiness the Dalai Lama will continue to turn the wheel of Dharma and we pray for all sufferings of all sentient beings, Chinese and Tibetans alike, to end in the glorious light of Dharma.

First of all, thank you Li Kim, Martin, Pastor Jin Ai and Pastor Niral for making and releasing these great videos. I must say your voices are very clear. The message you shared is lucid, articulate and lays out all the facts and evidence that the CTA initiated the ban on Dorje Shugden practice, instigated people worldwide to discriminate against Dorje Shugden practitioners, have maintained the ban up till today, against H.H. the Dalai Lama’s statement that we can practice. On the one hand they have officially banned the practice and on the other hand now they say there is no ban. Are they a confused lot? By issuing this video, they totally lose credibility.

The CTA over the past 20 years when they issued the ban and beyond, even from the time they killed Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen, have cause so much harm to their own Tibetan people and split them, pitting one group of Tibetans against another. How is it that they are championing the cause of the Tibetan people? They try to position themselves as defending H.H. the Dalai Lama but are in fact being defiant against his message of compassion.

Why do they keep doing this when all evidence is against them? What are they trying to hide? If they are really Buddhists, then their actions are contrary to Buddhist teachings. They have murdered, plundered and piled on lies upon lies, their latest being this video which contain nothing but lies and inconsistencies. Yet anti-Shugden people worldwide have been so deeply brainwashed, they still cannot see this and continue their tirade.

Not only have the CTA greatly harmed themselves and Tibetans, they have caused many people worldwide who have been manipulated by them to also do the same. The karmic repercussions I imagine, could be massive.

Thank you Kechara team for producing such refine videos and the proper and clear explanations debunking the allegations by the CTA. It is clearly shown in the Kechara video that there is without doubt a segregation and discrimination against Dorje Shugden practitioners.
CTA alleged that Shugden practitioners are in cahoots with China and being financially supported by them has been proven time and again that there is no substantial evidence to support such insinuations. In short CTA are just blowing hot air.
It is more than half a century now and CTA has not even moved closer to a truce or a peace plan to enable the exile Tibetans to live peacefully and returned to their motherland. It is without doubt a big failure on the CTA part and though this failure they found a scapegoat to point their fingers unfortunately it was directed at Shugden practitioners.
Shugden practitioners have also been classified as a cult but I beg to differ and I would like to defend such profanity and unsupported wild allegations thrown at Shugden practitioners. I joined Kechara about a year ago and up till now I found no such truths as a matter of fact there is no psychological coercion to make me stay. The profound Buddhist lineage goes back to Lord Buddha’s era is authentic and Dorje Shugden has been in practice for more than 350 years. There are no imperious leaders that will lead one to part with their wealth or a warrant being issued that leaving the order would amount to sinister circumstances. Therefore, I would urge those not to believe in hearsay but to investigate and find out for yourself Kechara religious authenticity.

I read every comment blaming the CTA.

I read almost every comment asking the Dalai Lama to lift HIS BAN.

Could someone tell me who is REALLY to blame?

Is it only the CTA and not really the Dalai Lama who is to blame.

Can the CTA lift the ban all by itself without first getting permission from the Dalai Lama.

So who really is to blame for the ban?????

CTA is up to their old tricks again by releasing their new anti- Shugden video.
Thanks to our hard working Kechara team by producing these meaningful videos based on true facts and hard evident to prove that CTA is clearly dictatorship, they discriminate, prejudice and bias against Dorje Shugden practitioners. As a matter of fact, CTA should reunite the Tibetans and work together harmoniously to improve their qualities of lives instead of creating divisions and separations among their own people for the last 20 years causing so much hardship and sufferings for their fellow countrymen. In the name of ‘Mercy’, HHDL please lift the Dorje Shugden ban immediately.

I watched the video of Appeal to Dalai Lama. And everything u guys said was real true. Every individual have their own right to practice whatever they want. As my self I practise Dorje Shugden by my own right and about our monastery we practice Dorje Shugden for centuries. As everytime Dalai lama reminds innocent people’s that to practice Dorje Shugden is equal to worship evil spirit or ghost. If that is true what u said is then I have question to you Dalai lama. Were ur tutors wrong practicing Dorje Shugden? U offended ur own tutor. Give religious Freedom.

Lastly I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the Kechera members for doing such a wonderful job and working so hard to understand peoples who are under delusion of Dalai lama’s statement on practising Dorje Shugden. Thank you!! Kelsang Tenzin [Smile]

PS: Request to Tsem Rinpoche La if Rinpoche La could revisit our monastery. That would be so greatful to our monastery.

    Video:Misdirection

The CTA have been trying to take the citizens of the world, Tibetans and Dorje Shugden for a deadend ride. They have not been able to have any form of impact on China – Tibetan negotiations, in fact the Chinese very much just ignores them. CTA has tried many many tricks, we hope that the world can finally wake up to the reality of CTA, is not the ‘lamb’ it tries to portray to the world. Trying to pin the blame on many issues and people, the expiry date for CTA is coming soon real soon.

CTA as Martin pointed out has been changing their reason for continuation of the ban on Dorje Shudgen, and anything untoward happens, you friendly Dorje Shugden neighbour is ready for you to lay the blame on. The world is not blind, there is so much tricks CTA can play, even tibetans students are beginning to wonder why CTA perpetrates discrimination on fellow Tibetans. CTA is the type of government who were responsible for the split of the sangha in South India, and yet they twist the words and say they gave freedom for people who wanted to carry on Dorje Shudgen pratice to have their own place. CTA never gives up anything for free, if it does not further their personal agendas in any way.

  9. Lew on Dec 18, 2016 at 8:07 pm

Thank you everyone who are involved in the making of these videos. From the pictures, we can see that are many more people involved on top of the hosts and people who appeared on the video. There are the crew, the project managers, the video editors, etc. A big thank you for everyone!

These videos are indeed very well done because it posts very logical questions and analysis. Isn’t logical the basis of Buddhism?

One of the videos, “Body of Evidence” lists many of the discriminations towards Dorje Shugden. You need to watch it yourself to understand what CTA claimed is an outright lie.

Also, it is unheard of that any government would openly suppress a religion. Therefore, it is totally unacceptable that CTA, a so-called government for the Tibetan In Exile, who is inspired by Buddhism, to carry out this kind of persecution.

Everyone who are interested to understand the Dorje Shugden controversy, or anyone who are confused as to why CTA’s accusation of Dorje Shugden, these videos are a must watch.

Is India playing the Tibet card?

It might not have any interest in Tibet per se but it does have useful deterrence value vis-a-vis China.

    P Stobdan

The recent visit of the 17th Karmapa Lama to Arunachal Pradesh, and India’s support to Mongolia, which is facing Chinese ire over the Dalai Lama’s visit, has once again put the spotlight on India’s Tibet card. Interestingly, the Karmapa was allowed into Tawang after the present government revoked an earlier decision by the Cabinet Committee on Security prohibiting him from travelling within and outside India (he was for long suspected to be a Chinese mole after he landed in India from Tibet in 2000).

The Karmapa’s visit followed US envoy Richard Verma’s tour to Tawang (which an infuriated China called ‘interference’) and New Delhi’s nod to the Dalai Lama’s visit in March 2017, which too raised eyebrows in Beijing. Interestingly, China did not react sharply to the Karmapa’s Tawang visit, possibly because he is not considered a ‘splitist’ like the Dalai Lama.

It is not clear whether playing up Tibet is part of the current Indian foreign policy discourse. In a recent speech, foreign secretary S. Jaishankar said that “India and China have put a premium on developing a bilateral relationship and not allowing other considerations to unduly influence their progress” and that “three lost decades compel us to still play catch-up in the relationship”.

That said, it is also true that India has occasionally played the Tibet card to counter China’s strategic moves. So the new move could be linked, firstly, to New Delhi retaliating to China going ahead with its economic corridor through PoK and its refusal to support India’s effort to put Jaish-e-Mohammed’s Masood Azhar on the UN terror list. Secondly, it could be linked to the preparations under way to decide the future Dalai Lama. So, even as Beijing has decided to find its own 15th Dalai Lama, New Delhi seems determined to forestall any such plan. Now that the Karmapa is viewed as the Dalai Lama’s interim political successor, New Delhi would be tempted to boost his profile. Thirdly, the Indian government has realised the need to mobilise the support of the clergy in other Vajrayana countries like Mongolia to decide the future Dalai Lama. Lastly, Tibet assumes importance in the light of the new administration in the United States. President-elect Donald Trump has already hinted at the US ending its ‘One China’ policy.

Yet, it is not clear whether India playing the Tibet card would yield anything. Firstly, it has no precedence in selecting a Dalai Lama. Secondly, its tokenism on Tibet for almost seven decades failed to counter Chinese moves such as their activities in PoK and reports about China extending its fibreoptic and connectivity lines to Nepal.
The Tibet question per se seems unimportant to India, but New Delhi finds it having useful deterrence value vis-a-vis China. It remains a valuable means of forcing China’s reciprocity, especially in dealing with the boundary issue.

The Tibet issue certainly can’t ignite a war, but the sheltering of the Karmapa and playing up the issue of the next Dalai Lama will ensure a prolonging of the hostility between India and China. The Tibet issue will continue to occupy centre stage whenever there is major strategic discord between India and China.

Interestingly, India is also seeking to play the Inner Asia geopolitical chess over Lamaism that Chinese imperial courts played traditionally. In fact, until the early 20th century, the Chinese, Tibetans and Mongols were bound in an intricate symbiotic relationship and shaped the political order together. In fact, the Dalai Lama’s recent five-day visit to Mongolia seemed to be aimed at stirring the game his institution has been playing since the 16th century-of reviving the Mongolian ecclesiastical institution built around the 400-year-old spiritual figure of the Jebtsundamba Khutukut or Bogd Khan whose lineage was terminated when the Communist government came to power in 1921. The last, or the ninth, Jebtsundamba was born in Tibet but spent most of his life in Karnataka until November 2011 when he went to Mongolia, only to pass away in March 2012. Discovering the 10th Jebtsundamba will once again be a tight geopolitical contest where the Dalai Lama, and the governments of Mongolia, China and India, have high political stakes in its outcome.

At the heart of the Dalai Lama’s visit to Mongolia lay the exercise of identifying of the new Jebtsundamba, but only on the fourth day of his visit did he announce that he was convinced (through his wisdom eyes) of the recent rebirth of the Jebtsundamba in Mongolia. He, however, desisted from revealing the boy’s identity. It is possible that the Mongolian state may have aborted the plan fearing Chinese rebuke.
It is also possible that the Dalai Lama himself withheld the identity for a possible future negotiation with China to jointly agree to identify the 10th Jebtsundamba just as he and Beijing did for the 17th Karmapa in the 1990s. The visit of a high-level Tibetan delegation from China to Mongolia prior to the Dalai Lama’s visit may have been linked to the recognition of the Jebtsundamba.
Unsurprisingly, Beijing censured Mongolia for taking the ‘erroneous’ step of inviting the Dalai Lama and has taken strong retaliatory action, calling off loan negotiations, imposing border tariffs and cancelling key bilateral talks. China appears angrier this time, especially after it had in recent years succeeded in curtailing the Dalai Lama’s outreach to world capitals.

Why did Mongolia play the Dalai Lama card? The answer lies in the terrible financial soup it finds itself in. The country is worst hit by the downturn, especially by China’s slowdown, resulting in its growth rate crashing down from 17.3 per cent in 2011 to negative this year.
Mongolia has gone into massive sovereign default with an external debt of $22.5 billion, twice the country’s GDP. It needs to clear commercial debt of $2 billion as well as another $2.3 billion currency swap agreement with Bank of China due next year. And, so far, Mongolia’s negotiation with China for a $4.2 billion bailout hasn’t worked.
Since the end of the Cold War, Mongolia has been unable to play its two giant neighbours-Russia and China-against each other. Then it included US and Japan as its ‘third neighbours’ to play its strategic game. But clearly, Mongolia’s ‘third neighbours’, whom China despises, seem unable to bail it out of its repayment obligations. And it is here that the Dalai Lama and India come in. Mongolian foreign policy defines India as its ‘spiritual neighbour’. A reason why, after the Dalai Lama card failed to yield results, Mongolia quickly sought an Indian bailout on ‘spiritual’ grounds, as well as ‘clear support’ against China’s transport obstruction imposed following the Dalai Lama’s visit. The Mongolian envoy in New Delhi told the media that India not raising its voice could be construed as giving China a ‘pass’ for its ‘behaviour’, The underlying suggestion being that India had a hand in the Dalai Lama’s Mongolia visit and its fallout.

China has already warned Mongolia against seeking Indian help. Its official media termed the step “politically harebrained” and said that “Mongolia cannot afford the risks of such geopolitical games”.
The issue is about India’s credit line of $1 billion offered during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit last year that Mongolia now wants released for meeting its fiscal needs. However, it is difficult to imagine how India could help solve the country’s existential problems, especially its debt burden. There seems to be no precedent of India converting its line of credit to service the debt of another country.
While Mongolia’s plea on ‘spiritual’ grounds is appealing, others caution against playing such a game knowing what happened when India went out of its way to help Nepal. Also, it’s not that India will get anything in return. Mongolia is a distant country with which even a minimum trade cannot take place without transiting through China.
As expected from a land-locked country, Mongolia quickly withdrew from standing up for India despite its strong commitment to work together on issues like terrorism. Barely a year after Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Ulaanbaatar, it was disappointing in its response to the attack in Uri, the Mongolian foreign ministry issuing only a meek statement expressing ‘regret’ . The country’s opportunism became clearer when its foreign ministry even refused to meet the Indian envoy in Ulaanbaatar for months. Mongolia has no substantive ties with Pakistan, but it was surely acting on China’s advice to stay away from firmly supporting India on terrorism.

India should certainly be sympathetic to Mongolia and approach the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank to provide relief besides implementing its own promised $1 billion credit line to support Mongolia’s economic capacity and infrastructure, but it should steer clear of the Mongolia-China spat. Undoubtedly, the Mongolian crisis would end soon because both Mongolia and China will find a modus vivendi. Perhaps Ulaanbaatar might be willing to host a visit by the Chinese Panchen Lama.

[This is a very interesting and provocative article. It would be good news if His Holiness the Panchen Lama Rinpoche visits our country of Mongolia. Mongolia has a long history of connections with the line of Panchen Lama Rinpoche incarnations. It would push our spiritual progress further and also make our connections to China repaired. We Mongolians hope Panchen Lama Rinpoche will visit and bless our country of Mongolia. We need the blessings very much. Sukhbatar]

Thank you for these videos! It is not believeable that a government who wants to call themselves democratic is acting in such discriminating ways against a religion. Dorje Shugden practitioners have to suffer since 20 years segregation beyond imagination! Being outcast from their communities, second class citizens (or worse, in brief no equal rights on a daily basis compared to non-Dorje Shugden followers as explained in the videos.

This is not a democratic government! This is a shame and shows that they don’t care for their people at all! Dorje Shugden was widely spread in the monasteries and the lay communities. Families and friends have been split because of the ban. Instead of improving the conditions for their people, the CTA spends their money for anti-Shugden videos – what government does that?

It is time to stop this unequality! HH Dalai Lama please end the Dorje Shugden ban and end the suffering of so many people. Tibet needs unity and harmony for the benefit of all Tibwtans. We beg you, release the Dorje Shugden ban.

  12. Choong on Dec 17, 2016 at 12:01 am

The CTA has not achieved anything substantial for the Tibetans in exile and this has pushed it to take its anti-Dorje Shugden stance to the limit to bring some kind of legitimacy for it to exist.

There is no logic to it and increasingly no support.

As Tibetans wise-up to the CTA’s shenanigans, the CTA better change tack or will be voted out sooner or later.

Thank you for all the hard work for producing these videos to explain clearly of the wrongs of CTA’s illogical actions, the ban on Dorje Shugden and supposedly Dorje Shugden’s practitioners are being paid and link to China as anti-His Holiness and Tibet.

A Tibetan Government-In-Exile, a Buddhist nation continuously feeding false information with the hope many will believe Dorje Shugden’s practice is behind CTA failure and downfall in pursuing their objective of returning to their homeland. And I thought as a Buddhist we aren’t supposed to lie. How ironic.

With all the wisdom and compassion HH Dalai Lama, please end the confusion and suffering by lifting the ban.
    Thank You.

We are aware that Buddhism is a method for controlling the undisciplined mind in order to lead us away from the suffering to happiness! By practising these virtues, which can only be cultivated with mindfulness, practitoners create protection and security to safeguard themselves and others too. In practising Buddhism to serve ourselves and others, by avoiding doing evil, performing only what is good and purifying our mind and heart – This forms the crux of what all Buddhas teach. That is exactly what all Kechara practitioners have been practicing and executing in their daily lives! But, what have been alleged in the captioned videos, is that “we in Kechara are accused that we still do maintain our practice of our “Dharma Protector” Dorje Shugden, because it was due to some pay-outs received by Kechara practitioners and were told to do so! Such accusation and assumption are totally fabrication and baseless, and such kind of false accusation and allegation used to delude and misled the public is totally wrong, harmful, dangerous and must be stopped! Like Li Kim said, Dorje Shugden practitioners have every right to practise freely, for which in Malaysia every citizen has such right! Please lift this Ban to stop such discrimination, and to stop further spreading of false rumours and accusations!

  15. Li Kim on Dec 16, 2016 at 3:28 am

It is an honour to have worked on these videos. I thank Martin, Pastor Jean Ai, Pastor Niral, Beng Kooi and the production crew for the hard work and efforts in producing these videos. I pray that the content shared in these videos will resonate deeply with the millions of people out there. I am not just addressing the Shugden practitioners, but all human race. Like I said in the video, “Just because it is not happening to us directly, it does not mean it does not exist.” In Malaysia we have the privilege of religious freedom but it does not mean we do not feel the plight of the Shugden practitioners who are tortured for their choice of faith. Just because we are in Malaysia does not mean we do not make a stand for what is wrong and inhumane. The false presentation of the CTA to delude and misguide millions must stop! With the deepest humility, I ask all of you to make a stand. State your views and support to lift this horrible injustice. Shugden practitioners must practise freely; give them their rights. Stop the discrimination. Lift the Ban.

      Hello Li Kim

Thank you for all your personal efforts in these videos.

Why has the Dalai Lama remained “Silent” on these new developments by HIS CTA?

Does not his public silence show that he condones the CTA’s views?

If he does in fact disagree and the CTA knows that why oh why would they have done the video?

Logic would dictate that the CTA would have first told the Dalai Lama what their plans were prior to releasing their video and 400 pages of so called documents.

The CTA would not dare to do this without first obtaining the “Permission” of the 14th Dalai Lama. It does not make any sense that they would do anything to upset their Dalai Lama. They more than anyone else know what it mean to receive the full wrath of the Dalai Lama anger.

I and the Tengyeling Oracle believe that the Dalai Lama is totally and solely behind these new efforts.

The CTA is the “Puppet Government” for their “Puppet Master” the 14th Dalai Lama.

I wish you, your family, Tsem Tulku and all his followers the very best wishes this Christmas and have a Happy Year.

    CTA’s role about Shugden Conflict

Watching this video, it is so very clear that the CTA who are in power amongst Tibetan in exiles have targeted the Dorje Shudgen people. Discrimination and suppression has happened for over 20 years now. Very clearly, CTA does not have anyone who propitiates Dorje Shudgen working in the government, in fact many circulars and memos have leaked out showing that CTA has asked their own people to abandon their the Dorje Shudgen practice and they will be asked to resign.

I agree with Martin that, criminals are across all faiths and religions, even if there was a negative act by someone who is from a certain belief, it does not mean, we can single them out for discrimination and for them to be targeted. Good and bad people occur in all faiths and people, does that mean anti Shugden people, do not ever break laws? It is infantile of CTA as a government, and its leader to put on their websites, and take measures against Dorje Shudgen people based on a murder allegation that is being pinned on Dorje Shugden people.

Hit list on Dorje Shudgen people is very interesting, archaic manner that CTA tries to suppress Dorje Shudgen people, lamas and practitioners. CTA views and measures have split their people for the longest time. How can CTA who suppress a section of their people, how would this create the causes for no independence and freedom? Create suppression, get suppression right? Why would any well-educated personage across the globe would want to support an institution that fights for Freedom, that also suppresses others?

I would really be embarrassed to be ruled by CTA, due to their policies that are very short-sighted and lacking vision and logic for that matter. 20 years CTA, has fumbled with their policies, I hope CTA instead of coming up with half baked strategies and policies, they would extend some time to have dialogue with Dorje Shugden leadership.

  17. Sofi on Dec 15, 2016 at 6:22 am

Thank you Rinpoche and the team for such clearly explained videos of the wrongs of CTA’s illogical actions, the ban on Dorje Shugden and the supposed link to CCP as spies. The videos really helped to debunk many of the “facts” presented by CTA against Dorje Shugden and his practitioners. It really is illogical for a government to spend so much time, effort and money into propaganda materials against a religion which they proclaim ‘NO BAN’. What more, using money sponsored by kind donors which was intended to help the Tibetan refugees elevate their living conditions and to reintegrate into the society. At the very time when CTA spent huge sum of money on Anti-Shugden documentaries and 400 pages long booklets, their people are facing great financial difficulties from drought in South India. Why had they not channelled the money into helping them instead of unnecessary wastage against a 400 years old religious practice. Then CTA had the audacity to ask for more donations for the drought victims. My personal opinion would be that CTA had spent too long a time living off the goodwill of well-wishers and no longer knows how to survive reality of the world.

I find that CTA linking Shugden practitioners to being CCP spies another illogical decision as there are 4 millions Shugden practitioners worldwide, not only Tibetans but Americans, British, Canadians, Swiss, Italians, Malaysian, Taiwanese, etc. So are these citizens of sovereign countries also Chinese spies? And another point mentioned was that Dorje Shugden had been practised 400 years, so does that mean all those who practiced since then had been Chinese spies? I might add that from the 5th Dalai Lama, the subsequent Dalai Lamas had been practicing Dorje Shugden as well.

The 14th Dalai Lama who has the same mindstream as his previous incarnations and known to be the emanation of Buddha Avalokiteshvara, had practiced Dorje Shugden for 30 years before suddenly declaring him ‘harmful’. Then recently in September 2016 he declared that Dorje Shugden had never and can never harm him nor the Tibetan cause. He also said there is no ban and that we are free to practice as we wish. But contrary to his statements, CTA is still very much hands on in enforcing the ban especially with the release of the documentary and 400 pages long booklet in November 2016. I personally feel that the Dalai Lama need to acknowledge that there is a ban and seeing the great sufferings of his people, not to mentioned especially harmful to the Buddhadharma, with compassion, he should firmly declare it lifted. As the Dalai Lama is still strongly revered by most Buddhist communities around the world, including ourselves in Kechara, his words would mean law for CTA to follow.

In Buddhism we are taught impermanence and in this wisdom, the Dalai Lama had changed to request for Autonomy rule of Tibet. In view that the world economy is centered around trade agreements with China, CTA should have already stopped all fronts of harassment at China and start making overtures to befriend China for that long awaited dialogue for Tibetans-in-exile’s return to their homeland. CTA should lift the ban on Dorje Shugden immediately and stop all forms of attacks on Shugden Lamas and practitioners. I am just amazed at the daily vulgar lies by Cyber attackers that not only tarnish the Shugden Lamas (including our Guru) and their beneficial teachings that helped countless people out of sufferings. Even our the credibility of our lineage Gurus were not spared in the attacks. Imagine all the grave negative karmas created that not only the individual but the world has to bear, now and in the future.

Kudos to Martin, Li Kim, Pastor Jean Ai, Pastor Niral, Beng Kooi and the shoot team for their hardwork in bringing the truth to the people. May CTA have the courage to do the right thing and swiftly lift the Ban. May the Dalai Lama’s wishes be fulfilled, for Tibetans to be able to return to their homes if they so wish and for many to be able to receive the benefits of Dorje Shugden practice with trust and faith.

We can use the “Wrathful Mantra” of Methar against the
CTA. The Mantra is “Om Methar Shatroo Maraya Phet”.

    • Bradley Kassian on Dec 15, 2016 at 6:20 am

Would that not contradict what dharma protectors are used for? Their job is to remove your obstacles for dharma practice & study, not for trying to harm a government; Even an unenlightened oath bound protector won’t assist in that (even if they have a score to settle) because they swore not to cause anymore harm. The only way they would get involved would be to influence people towards the positive and maybe get rid of some of the “red tape” bureaucratic stuff on the side. Anyway Harold, I wanted to ask where did you get the wrathful mantra of Methar from?

      • Harold Musetescu on Dec 15, 2016 at 7:57 am

        Hello Bradley

The wrathul mantra of Methar comes from Methar via the Tengyeling Oracle. It was the present day Tengyeling Oracle who gave Tsem Tulku the peaceful mantra for Methar (Om Methar sarva siddhi hung). He also provided Rinpoche with the visualization for the wrathful former of Methar. It was also this Oracle that provided the information about H.H. Demo Tulku, Ngari Tulku being innocent of the crimes they were murdered for. H.E. Tsem Tulku wrote about this in the articles on Methar and “The Spirit Nyatrul”. The Tengyeling Oracle can no be reached via email at “[email protected]”.

Also Bradley if you read Rinpoche’s article on “Methar” you will read how he states that “Methar uses his mala (made of human skulls) to count the people he has “slain”.

The general public teaching are what you speak about but the inner and secrets teaches are about “Dharmapalas” engages in the “Rite of Liberation, the Great Act of Compassion Ritual” against evil humans and demons.” Just as we have “Phurba” practices that are used to “Kill evil demons and spirits”. The “Phurba Masters” liberates (kills) the evil demon or spirit and then in an act of compassion sends the consciousness to a “Pure Land” i.e. Varjapani’s pure land of “Changlechen”. This is what the “Dharmapalas” can also do for us if we are under attack and need this kind of “Special Protection”.

I hope this answers some of your questions.

        Merry Christmas

The video issued by the CTA on 14th Nov Allegations vs Fact’s on Dorje Shugden practitioners was a downright disappointment as it was basically just a compilation of lame, baseless points which they have continuously highlighted before, but clearly without substance or proof. It’s even more irritating when one contemplates on the amount of resources spent on creating the video which spreads lies instead of going down to the ground to give real help to their own people. The CTA is spending money to create more chaos and inviting people to discriminate further their own brothers and sisters. What is their motivation ? Is there something real to proof or just just hoping to create a diversion away from their own weaknesses and failure to do anything for Tibet and Tibetans.
This desperate move by the CTA further shows their unprofessionalism and lack of skill and wisdom to deal with the real challenge – CHINA !! Because they got NOTHING out of China in their negotiations, they blame it on Dorje Shugden and the DS monks and practitioners. How can the CTA represent Tibetans and help preserve the sacred teachings of Tibetan Buddhism ? The pure Dharma will degenerate in their hands !

The videos recorded by the group of dedicated students of HE Tsem Tulku Rinplche contains very valid points to prove how misleading CTA”s video is. Great work !! Thank you !!

Dalai Lama with all your wisdom and compassion must be more affirmative to bring justice to Dorje Shugden and the practitioners. With folded hands .

This new, unbelievable and wildly accusative video released by the CTA shows how desperate they are in this whole Shugden controversy. For over 20 years, this controversy have caused so much needless sufferings, families being torn apart, and worst of all, schism caused in a lot of Tibetan monasteries and spreading across the world.

It is very clear that the CTA is infringing and condescending onto every Buddhist that they conform to their wish to stop practicing Shugden. Thus, with this statement coming from them, they re actually infringing on Malaysian Buddhists’ rights to religious freedom. Malaysia’s citizens are free to practice whichever religion they prefer and this is enshrined in Malaysia’s Constitution. The CTA is infringing on this and it is not right.

I would urge the entire CTA team to do serious self-reflection and contemplate Buddha’s teachings on equanimity on all sentient beings without exception. Do not simply accuse another party just because they don’t conform to your own views. This is not right. And it has to stop.

I appreciate deeply the entire Kechara team to come up with such wonderful, factual and rational presentation of the entire controversy and to seek reconciliation amongst all so that we all grow in our Dharma journey. To start off, it is important not to show hate, anger or throw accusations towards other human beings.

We are all Buddhists and wishing to seek Liberation, don’t you too CTA?

The quotes below are from the CTA staff writer report on the day of the launch of the “new” documentary and book to “counter the false narrative of dogyal group”.

The purpose of this comment and response is to show how desperate and untruthful the CTA is, to falsely pin each and every supporter of religious freedom in the world who happen to be Dorje Shugden practitioners or symphatizers, as agents or salaried men of the Chinese government.

The CTA is desperate, especially after His Holiness Dalai Lama has recently said that he has never been against Dorje Shugden practitioners. The CTA has no legitimacy left. Indeed as the above videos argue, they are acting against His Holiness Dalai Lama’s wishes.

“It is with the objective of clarifying the Tibetan administration’s stand and to expose the blatant contortion of facts by these misguided fringe groups that we are releasing this book and film to provide factual and truthful information on the matter.”

They are calling Dorje Shugden practitioners “fringe” when in actuality today there are millions whether inside or outside India and Tibet.

“A few misguided people manipulated by the Chinese government have been regularly protesting at teaching venues of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Europe and the US in the past few years. However, there has been a dramatic decrease in their activities since the publication of a Reuters article exposing their complicity with the Chinese government in March.”

These “few misguided people” represent millions. There are many, many more who because of strong respect for His Holiness Dalai Lama would not join any protest but that doesn’t mean the they aren’t of the same opinion as the protesters regarding freedom of religious practice.

“Therefore, we felt it necessary to compile this book and produce this short documentary film to provide a fresh narrative on the issue,” Sikyong explained.

There’s is nothing fresh that I can see.

“However, there has been a dramatic decrease in their activities since the publication of a Reuters article exposing their complicity with the Chinese government in March.”

Haven’t you heard? His Holiness Dalai Lama says whomever wants to practice can practice. So what is there to protest anymore? Maybe you should listen to His Holiness.

“It is true that Dolgyal protests against His Holiness has abated in the last few months. However, there is a rise in their activities, which are not distinctly visible to the public eye, particularly on social media. It is with this objective that we are releasing this book and film,” she said, expressing her deep concern.

Since when is social media not visible to the public eye? How can social media be not visible? Clearly, the CTA is once again resorting to the bogeyman for help. Again nothing new.

“It is clear now that Dolgyal activities have become a tool for the Chinese government to slander His Holiness the Dalai Lama, demean the Tibetan people’s faith in His Holiness and disrupt Tibetan harmony,” she said.

The same can be leveled against the CTA. That Dogyal activities and the CTA have become a tool for the American government to slander China. The difference is there isn’t any proof that Dorje Shugden practitioners receive any money from China. But it is clear that for decades the CTA has been receiving money from America.

  23. Pastor Han Nee on Dec 14, 2016 at 5:26 pm

The new video released by CTA is yet another attempt to demonize Dorje Shugden and Shugden practitioners. This is appalling , coming in the wake of H.H. the Dalai Lama himself publicly announcing that we can practice Shugden and that Shugden has never harmed him. It is a show of defiance in the face of what the Dalai Lama has just said.

To deny that there is a ban and that there is no discrimination against Shugden practitioners is a big lie. There is a solid body of evidence that shows how the ban is working on the ground to discriminate against Shugden people as though they are criminals. First of all, monks were expelled from the monasteries overnight because they refused to give up their practice of Shugden. Shar Gaden and Serpom were set up by the sweat and toil of the expelled monks, under the leadership of compassionate beings like the first abbot of Shar Gaden, Khensur Rinpoche Jetsun Lobsang Phende. Shugden practitioners have been barred from seeking jobs in government departments, from hospitals and shops and their children have also been discriminated against in school.

To create a new distraction to draw attention from them for their failure to gain Tibet’s freedom, the CTA now raise new spectres or bogeymen and “create the link” of Shugden practitioners with the Chinese Communist Government, saying that the Shugden practitioners are in the pay of China as China spies! The only testimony to this is given by a monk , Lama Tsetse , who has no proof to his allegations about a leaked document revealing that Shugden practitioners are frontmen for the Chinese Government in their fight against Dalai Lama.

All things considered, it is the responsibility of the Tibetan government to heal the schism within the Tibetan community. Efforts to widen the divide run contrary to Lord Buddha’s injunction especially to the Sangha that they remain harmonious so that the Dharma remains preserved and intact. As it is, the fear is now so real that the Dharma may degenerate and be lost.

  24. Wan Wai Meng on Dec 14, 2016 at 12:03 pm

    Allegations of Chinese Links

My thoughts about these are : –
-If there was truly evidence, we would know all about it, all over the internet. The article – *China co-opts a Buddhist sect in global effort to smear Dalai Lama* This is mentioned in the article that->
Reuters has no independent evidence of direct Chinese financing of the protests.

Why Dorje Shudgen people targeted for being Chinese spies? – When there are so many prominent Tibetan lamas who have good connections to China, and why aren’t they given the same spy treatment? Why only Dorje Shugden people are labelled as spies? Some of these other lamas have also received financial and other support from Chinese people or their Chinese students. If they are not Chinese spies, then neither are Dorje Shudgen people, who do not receive any secret funding from China.

It is so true that CTA is trying to deflect, and create misdirection of the current status and the state of the tibetan people in exile and Dorje Shugden is an easy scapegoat.

This video from CTA is like how the Americans who were looking for Weapons of Mass Destruction(WMD) as a pretext to Gulf War and launch a war against the Iraqis. In the end no WMD were found by the Allied forces, it was all a ruse to sell arms and fight a war.

You don’t have the balls to admit to yourself’s that this video is ALL ABOUT THE DALIA LAMA AND HIS CONTINUED BAN ON THE PRACTICE OF DORJE SHUGDEN.

It is not the CTA who is behind this video but the DALAI LAMA.

Do you think that if continue to not mention the Dalai Lama as the EVIL MASTERMIND behind all this that it leaves an opening for the Dalai Lama to change his mind?

THIS IS THE DALAI LAMA’S VIDEO AND THE CTA ARE JUST HIS PUPPETS.

If soldiers refuse to fight, there will be no war.

Your forceful way of demanding Kechara what they should do with a video they produce is distasteful. You are no different from the CTA or in your view, the Dalai Lama, in your ways of forceful demand. The only difference is your believes and views are polar opposites.

If you are so dissatisfied with the content of the videos, then you please make a video response and send to Sikyong, then your video can contain all your views.

I don’t mean to be blunt, but your messages have zero appreciation for those that actually work very hard to lift the ban on shugden. Just because you are not agreeable with their moderate views doesn’t mean its wrong.

Instead of forcing your views on us so that we do the job for you, why don’t you use all that outspokenness and zest to actually work to lift the ban, in your own point of view. At least that may probably produce some benefit.

        Hello Sarah

So who do you think is really behind the CTA’s video? Is it as it has been claimed by Tsem Tulku and his pastors the CTA?

Or it really the Dalai Lama? The 14th Dalai Lama has not spoken out against the CTA’s video.

Sarah do you believe that the CTA would have done all this without first obtaining the approval of the Dalai Lama?

If it in fact the Dalai Lama who is really the master mind of all this then why does Tsem Tulku say so.

My questions can be answer by Tsem Tulku contacting Dorje Shugden via the Panglung Kuten. The answer will come from Dorje Shugden and that will be that. Dorje Shugden’s will be the final answer about who is behind this video, the CTA or the Dalai Lama.

Please Rinpoche contact the Panglung Oracle and ask Dorje Shugden to take trance. Is the Dalai Lama innocent and the CTA the real evil behind their video.

I believe we the followers of Dorje Shugden need this answer.

The Tengyeling Oracle has already stated that it is the 14th Dalai Lama who is really behind this new hateful campaign.

          Dear Harold,

Everyone has different views and different ways of approach on this matter. Please be clear that to lift the Dorje Shugden ban is NEVER ABOUT WHO TO BLAME. IT IS ABOUT LIFTING THE BAN AND DELIVER OUR APPEAL OUT, no matter to who.

If you’re looking into who is the one really to be blamed, we can talk for whole day whole night and we will never get a “correct answer”.

Lets put the focus on lifting the ban and not who to blame. There are so many information and proves to the existing of ban and the suffering of Dorje Shugden practitioners in India especially.

No matter who you choose to blame, His Holiness or CTA, the ban is still the ban. Don’t go off focus. Have a nice day 🙂

Great information & clarifications for people who are new & not know about and who have been suffering from the Ban of practicing Dorje Shugden, the Great Dharma Protector.

There are tons of dilemmas about the existence of the BAN of Dorje Shugden. Signages are all over the town in Tibet, people who claimed themselves as the supporters of H H. Dalai Lama are cursing and throwing anger on Dorje Shugden practitioners, which indicate pure & obvious discriminations to the Dorje Shugden practitioners.

In the another hand, H.H. Dalai Lama has announced that people are allow to practice Dorje Shugden freely. However, it contradicts what is happening terribly for Dorje Shugden practitioners around the world. They call us “Chinese pigs”, “Chinese spies”, “Chinese ghosts”, and more negative labels. I’m a Malaysian Chinese who is practicing Dorje Shugden, of course I’m going to be a Chinese ghost when I’m died, but it’s still rude to label people conveniently without consideration of the others’ feelings, especially those people who claimed themselves as the supporters of H.H. Dalai Lama, they follow H.H Dalai Lama’s shadow but not his light which he teaches us to be acceptance and compassion…=/

May more & more people could show concern & stand up for the sake for human rights and religious freedom, ultimately it’s for Worldpeace.

Thanks Rinpoche and the hardworking teams to get these videos and posts done!!!

After watching the video released by the Tibetan leadership Shugden Protestors: Allegations versus Facts, as a Shugden practitioner who always follow this blog, I found that the video has many loopholes where in facts there are many facts and proves to show the world that the condition is not what they describe in the video.

After watching the videos on this post, I want to give the team a big applause because it’s well presented and debunking what Tibetan leadership try to say/hide.

I especially like the 5th video to present very clearly that practicing Dorje Shugden is not going against Dalai Lama, but people who go against Dalai Lama is the Tibetan leadership themselves by encouraging separation and discrimination among the Tibetan community.

Truth is truth, it’s not because a “country”‘s spending money to make an “official” video would change the truth. What Tibetan leadership has done to their community are well recorded, if not by the public, it’s recorded in their karma.

Tibetan leadership should not continue this illogical, deceptive policy saying “there is no ban” but yet doing a lot of effort to enhance the ban. By releasing the video itself is another solid proof that there is a ban.

    The ban must end.

    Thank you.

Thank you the teams hard work for these videos and very good information and illustration of the ban causes by the CTA.
I like video #4 and #5, where the discussion provoke alertness of the action by the CTA towards Dorje Shugden’s ban. The CTA totally gives pointless results and it causes more mind triggering.

In Tibetan community people who are against shukden publicly is not necessary they all really hate shukden flowers. There some different reason to against shukden in Tibetans ( 1 ) People love too much Dalai Lama. ( 2 ) People who got a lot benefits from Tibetans government. ( 3 ) People really hate shukden because shukden restrict attend other sect if you are gelukpa, ( 4 ) People fear they become suspicious to shukden flower in community, so against shukden in public to cleaning up self Not really hate to shukden flower. ( 5 ) whether believe religious or not people who try get political benefits from Tibetan government direct or indirectly they pretend proDalai Lama and against shukden flower

    • Joy Kam on Dec 14, 2016 at 6:11 am

      Dear Kunsang,
Welcome to Tsem Rinpoche’s blog and thank you so much for truthful comment.

“( 5 ) whether believe religious or not people who try get political benefits from Tibetan government direct or indirectly they pretend proDalai Lama and against shukden flower”

I see now why Tibetans are so divided, it is obvious it is for self-gain from the Tibetan leadership one way or another. Thank you for sharing this information so we can understand better and clearer why Tibetans attack another innocent Tibetan just because of their differences in belief and practice and how much suffering this ban against Shugden people have caused everyone (Shugden and non-Shugden practitioners alike). There is nothing positive about this ban, if anything is causes more disharmony and problems for everyone, this is why the Dorje Shugden ban and discrimination MUST END.

For no ( 3 ) People really hate shukden because shukden restrict attend other sect if you are gelukpa – I believe this is to maintain discipline and focus, I guess the human monkey mind is never satisfied with one and always needs to jump from one teaching to the next. This so called restriction is for the benefit of the practitioner, to keep ones motivation in check and not to run around getting all kinds of teachings and in the end practice none or worst getting confused and end up not attaining any results in one’s practice. So there are good reasons and not to discriminate or be sectarian which is the misconception.

Again I thank you for your honest sharing.

        • Joy Kam on Dec 14, 2016 at 4:49 pm

Agree with what you say. Actually the Tibetan Leadership supposedly democratic suppose to focus on that – the people and their needs, their suffering despite race/religion. That is true leaders and leadership bringing their people together and helping everyone. They should unite Tibetans not divide and help Tibetans not segregate further.

Thank you for your comment! Yes we either be part of the solution or the problem, when we stay silent, we become part of the problem and Tibetans do not need to be further torn a part by their own government/leaders. We are voicing out for the thousands of Tibetans who are Shugden practitioners who are suffering and I am sure indirectly it also helps those who suffer from the dishonest leadership of the exile Tibetan government.

A good question from the Tibetan video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKdNhi6gXAM&feature=youtu.be is where have all the million/billions of funds donated from the West go? Did it go to improve the livelihood of the Tibetans in exile? Where did the CTA get so much money to produce book and documentary to further discriminate and segregate their own people and another’s religion? This is a good question all Tibetans and non-Tibetan, donors need to ask the CTA. Why do they promote and fund hate and discrimination while His Holiness preach religious tolerance, harmony and compassion.

          There is too much contradictions.

  30. Yin ping on Dec 14, 2016 at 2:15 am

Well done to the amazing team from Kechara who work countless hours tirelessly to produce these 5 videos which are informative, truthful, unbiased and logical to counter the lies in CTA’s video. It is very clear there are discriminations against Dorje Shugden practitioners and the ban exists! The facts and logic highlights issues of religious freedom and human rights in Tibetan people, and also people around the globe. For the sake of humanity, the ban must end.

This controversy has caused so much conflicts and suffering to millions of practitioners worldwide in the past 20 years. I hope that more people are aware and concern about the ban, stand up against it and bring it down peacefully.

  31. Justin Cheah on Dec 14, 2016 at 1:30 am

Thank you very much to the very hardworking team for producing these videos which met what it was meant for; rebuffing claims and accusations made in the video that CTA produced last month. This is the perfect response for all the issues and hidden truths manipulated by CTA to make it to their advantage. The answers to all the claims are all legit and it is remained to be seen if CTA will be able to deny anymore of the claims made by public (and many are from their very own people). All their so called proof is only flimsy and not strong. Instead of producing video and spread twisted claims, maybe they should invest in making Tibetans livery their lives better in India. So much have been received from donors but nothing has been done for their own people. Is CTA really serving it’s purpose as the government for its people. Or is it even a government now?

  32. nicholas on Dec 14, 2016 at 1:19 am

Thank you so much for the crew that produce this videos. The facts that present in the videos really important to show the world how the Tibetan government manipulate the issues on Dorje Shugden ban and what more shocking here is that after close to 60 years Tibetan government which has been getting financial support not only doesn’t use it to support the real need for their people which in crisis but only focus on spending them to further discriminate their own people religious freedom. Instead of uniting all Tibetan, CTA would rather create more unnecessary separation within their own people to cover their failure in making Tibet stronger. It’s amazing how Tibetan government would exchange their people livelihood for their selfish cover up intention.

This videos shows all the logic and evident that the Tibetan government has been denying and keep manipulating. The truth cannot be covered and the world will see this unless they really think that the people around the world are easily being fooled by their baseless words.

The 5th video present with logic that who is really the one that going against His Holiness the Dalai Lama teaching and instruction. His Holiness always preach on peace and compassion. Even His Holiness personally said in France that anyone can practice Shugden but the Tibetan government still going against what he said. Who is the real anti- Dalai Lama here?

The ban should stop here and now to go in line with His Holiness teaching and for humans right, religious freedom and world peace.

Wonderful videos! Thank you very much for the hard work to all those involved!

So many points/questions are legit from the videos and it really makes one wonder the authenticity of CTA’s so called No Ban video.

After all these years, either they incompetent or ignorant. No evidence of discrimination? Unbelievable! If there is no ban, why need to go thru the parliament to enforce an article and print a 400 page book? Why spend so much time and money just to do this? Why don’t the CTA use the money to help their own people? Why does CTA keep harping on Dorje Shugden’s issue if there is no ban? They don’t have anything else to do?

The point that I really like in the video, is the part that Dorje Shugden is practiced for 400 over years and many great lamas practiced. If they keep saying Dorje Shugden is a ‘devil’ and the practitioners are devil worshippers, then all the great Lamas who practiced, are also the same? I dare say that many of our lineage Gurus have practiced, so does this mean their lineage is not authentic? Then where does that leave all of us who received our teachings and practices from our Guru and the Gurus before Him? And how did these great Lamas reincarnate if they were practicing the ‘devil’? Really illogical.

Maybe they should read this post http://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/dorje-shugden/they-were-not-wrong.html

These are very well done videos, giving lots of logical information to readers to chew on. I like video #4 in which Li Kim did a great job with the presentation. And I love video #5 – it’s casual yet thought provoking. These videos would shed light on the controversial ban on Dorje Shugden practice that results in so many hardship for the practitioners, particularly the sangha community and common people living in India. The plight of these people has been going on for far too long and it must come to an end, a peaceful closure, for dharma teachings to grow and spread. And for the world to know the deceits, fabrication of lies, the underhand tactics CTA has been using for the last two decades on its own people.

Thank you to all who were involved in these videos production.

Do you, Tsem Rinpoche and the other pastors really believe that it is the CTA and only the CTA who is behind this video?

Has the Dalai Lama condemned the actions of the CTA in presenting this video? You and Tsem Rinpoche know the answer to my question and it is NOOOOO.

Does Tsem Tulku think that the CTA did all this without the fore knowledge and consent of the Dalai Lama? NOOOO.

Why can’t Tsem Tulku or any of his pastors admit that it is the DALAI LAMA AND ONLY THE DALIA LAMA who is behind this video?

Tsem Tulku should ask that very question to the Panglung Kuten or the Gameng Kuten and Dorje Shugden will tell them the TRUTH.

WHAT DOES DORJE SHUGEN SAY THROUGH THE PANGLUNG KUTEN AND THE GAMENG KUTEN????? IF TSEM TULKU HAS’T ASKED THEM WHY NOT!!!!!!

The Tengyeling Oracle has been contacted and he states that Kache Marpo and Methar have told him that it is the Dalai Lama and only the Dalai Lama who is behind this video and new campaign against the followers of Dorje Shugden. They told him that the CTA are the “slave puppets” of the 14th Dalai Lama and they only DO WHAT THE DALAI LAMA TELLS THEM TO DO.

Merry Christmas from the Tengyeling Oracle.

Thank you to all involved in the production of these videos. As a Malaysian citizen, I am not amused to be implicated in Tibetan politics just because of my choice of religion. Accusations that we, as Dorje Shugden practitioners are paid by the Chinese govt to be against HH the Dalai Lama is absurd.

For a govt to spend public funds to produce a video against a religion instead of using the funds to help their own people in desperate need is shocking and highly suspicious! Perhaps it’s their strategy to divide and rule at the expense of their people’s wellbeing and livelihood.

I wish so much that these politicians would stop their selfish pursuits and genuinely focus on improving the livelihood of the Tibetans in exile. For the Prime Minister, Lobsang Sangye to even deny that the ban exists shows that he’s either a liar or totally not in touch with what’s happening with his people. Either option, it doesn’t reflect well on Lobsang Sangye.

I also wish very much that as the ambassador of world peace and a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, HH the Dalai Lama will speak up and put a stop to the discrimination of the Dorje Shugden practice and practitioners. Since HH promotes interfaih harmony around the world, why not do the same for his own people.

  37. May Ong on Dec 13, 2016 at 11:44 pm

Pastor Jean Ai, Martin, Pastor Niral and Li Kim debated clearly and logically over all the allegations brought up in the above video by the CTA.

I liked the point brought up in the discussion on where have all the donations from the world to the Tibetan government gone to? Instead of using that much needed donated funds to help and assist the exiled Tibetan refugees living in India to get through drought and loss of jobs or businesses, the CTA used these funded resource to direct a video to continue to incite hate, prejudice and religious discrimination against Dorje Shugden practitioners in the world, although HH the Dalai Lama said he permitted others to practice DS now if they choose to, freely.

It was clear that the CTA had no interest to protect the Tibetan community nor keen to improve their livelihood but left their own Tibetan community to fend for themselves on their own.

The other point that stood out for me is – where are all the hard Facts and evidence that the CTA said the 4 million Shugden practitioners are receiver of China backed funds? They were not able to provide even a receipt nor pictures of such claim as proof. It was just another baseless allegation again.

The above facts discussed do show that the CTA continue to use Dorje Shugden practice as a political Tool to continue to incite fear and confusion amongst the Tibetan and the International Buddhist community to cover up on their fight on the cause of a free Tibet issue against China and their own weaknesses.

If the CTA has been sincere, practice wisdom, karma and demonstrate compassion, like what HH the Dalai Lama has been teaching the world, they should sit down now with the Shugdenpa community to hold an Open Debate to settle this Shugden ban as man to man, to resolve, instead of beating around the bush for the world to see and bring the Ban down on Dorje Shugden practice to allow true religious freedom and bring harmony to the Buddhist community in the world.

Thank you Rinpoche and the team who have diligently and tirelessly worked towards the materialisation of these useful videos. With such clear, concise and logical structure in the dissemination of information and facts, not only the hollowness, messy and contradictory positions/statements by CTA are exposed, they also reveal the real picture and truth of the situation. More importantly, such videos can prompt people to think and make an informed decision in respect of this matter. While it is not always easy to speak up about situations, sometimes it is imperative to someone getting better and a situation ceasing to exist. What so many people tend to take for granted is that if you don’t speak up, then maybe no one else will. Further, in this day and age, bullying, harassment, and things of that nature are more prevalent than most people think, but a person may be too nervous or restricted or not know to speak up about their own situation. By being a bystander and not saying something about a situation, it could escalate and inevitably take a toll on someone. These videos will also aid and give confidence for other people to speak up as the issues are highlighted, discussed and looked at logically.

  39. Datuk May on Dec 13, 2016 at 10:41 pm

If you are politically inclined these videos will illustrate to you how a governing body (in this instance the CTA) overrides the constitutional rights of its people. This is an unacceptable practice internationally. The Tibetans being in exile and are refugees, they really have no course of action for any wrong to be rectified. This suppression must stop.

If you are spiritually inclined, like all Dorje Shugden devotees, your religious rights are taken away. This is the 21st century and this is another unacceptable form of discrimination within any international standard. It had been hard for the last 20 years of suppression and harsh discrimination, but we all know that it is all worth it to have good samaya with our Gurus and not to let go of what our Gurus have given us, the practice of Dorje Shugden.

As a Dorje Shugden practitioner who had experienced protection and care from both my Guru, HE the 25th Tsem Rinpoche and Dorje Shugden, I rejoice and thank the Kechara team, Martin, LiKim, Pastor Jean Ai, Pastor Niral and Brando and his crew to have made these amazing videos and their stand for humanity.

Last but not least, I am most thankful to my Guru, Tsem Rinpoche for guiding his students the correct way and evidently so by the grace and elegant way of presenting what is wrongfully done to 4 million people of this religious faith of Dorje Shugden.

    Appreciation from my heart.

Thank you Martin,Li Kim,Pastor Jean Ai, Pastor Niral and Kechara crew for working very hard to produce these videos. Great job and well done everyone! The points explained by Martin is very clear cut. The CTA has been inconsistent in their message to their people, on one hand, they released this video to show that Dorje Shugden Practitioners are collaborating with the Chinese Government to smear the good image of the Dalai Lama and that they are Chinese spies. On the other hand, they are encouraging Tibetans to be friends with China. This is very confusing..I will share this article on my facebook, group and twitter. Very comprehensive videos addressing and debunking the allegations by the CTA that there is no ban on Dorje Shugden practitioners. Pastor Jean Ai, Pastor Niral, Martin and LI Kim has answered and presented evidence that the claims by the CTA documentary to be false and misguided. The fact that the CTA video is released shows that there is an issue that is dividing the Tibetan community. If it is a non-issue, then there is no need for this video. There is no hard evidence shown to proof that there is no discrimination against Dorje Shugden practitioners but there are laws that is enacted by the CTA to alienate Dorje Shugden practitioners. The CTA has been inconsistent in their message to their people, on one hand, they released this video to show that Dorje Shugden Practitioners are collaborating wight eh Chinese Government to smear the good image of the Dalai Lama and that they are Chinese spies. On the other hand, they are encouraging Tibetans to be friends with China. How are the Tibetans going to react? To hate the Chinese or to love them???

The team under His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s guidance have worked very hard to bring this truth out, and together, with other Shugden practitioners all around the world sharing this TRUTH based on FACTS, I am very sure we will bring the ban down.

Like what Li Kim said to “Some of the greatest worngs is not the people who performs the misdeeds, but the people who permit it to happen”. So this ban actually affects not only Tibetan Shugden practitioners that suffer first hand this disgusting discrimination from a fake democratic Tibetan leadership, but it undermines and insults everyone’s human rights for religious freedom and an out right breach to United Nations’s human rights constitution. The very same thing the fault China for, they do it on their own people! How ironic is that! Hence, this ban actually puts everyone who is different and the minority down. So for the sake of humanity it MUST come down!

Thank you Rinpoche and the team who has worked very hard for the past weeks to bring this production of truth out to the world. Bravo all and bravo to spread truth, peace and compassion and stamping down the lies and injustice discrimination on Dorje Shugden practice. The truth must be told! Again for the sake of humanity it MUST come down!

  43. Pastor Han Nee on Dec 13, 2016 at 4:42 pm

Thank you team for these wonderful videos that clearly and firmly refute the recycled and new allegations and claims of the Tibetan government against Shugden practitioners in their efforts to continue to suppress and persecute them.

In the first place, the fact that they have produced a book and a video to demonise Shugden and Shugden practitioners after H.H. the Dalai Lama himself had already publicly announced that we can practice Shugden and that Shugden had never harmed Him, seems to me a clear act of defiance of the Dalai Lama .

Shugden practitioners, who listen to the words and advice of our Spiritual Guide, have always shown respect to H.H. the Dalai Lama. Praying for the Long Life of H.H. the Dalai Lama goes without say, in our completion dedication, after our daily prayers.

Furthermore, the accusation of Shugden practitioners as China spies paid by China has not even a shred of evidence to support it. It is just a manipulative way of arousing the ire of Tibetans against Shugden practitioners, because the Tibetans have always seen the Chinese as the evil ones who had robbed them of their rightful hearth and home.

Contrary to what the CTA insists on, there is a ban and there is a violation of freedom of religion which is enshrined in the 1991 “Charter of Tibetans in Exile.” That there is a ban is seen in the body of evidence, including Shugden people not being allowed to work in Government Departments, Shugden people not being allowed to receive treatment from Government clinics, children of Shugden people being discriminated against in schools, signboards that bar Shugden people from entering shops and other public places.Above all, monks WERE expelled from Monasteries and forced to set up Shar Gaden and Serpom so that they could continue to practice and hold their vows.

Buddha Shakyamuni had sternly warned that schism must not be allowed to infiltrate into the monastic communities. There must always be harmony within the Sangha as they are the ones who preserve the Dharma. The Tibetan Government is adamant in its efforts to split the monastic community, by upholding the ban and persecuting the monastics who violate the ban. If the ban is not removed soon, and the schism and divide persists, then we fear Tibetan Buddhism may degenerate and disappear. Je Tsongkhapa’s precious teachings so vital to this degenerate age may be lost.

For the practitioners of Shugden who hold on to their practice because of their commitment to their root Guru, there has been no wavering on their part. They have remained firm in their loyalty and devotion to their root Guru, despite the massive abuse and persecution, prompted by the anti-Shugden stance of the CTA. Compassionate Shugden Lamas who reincarnate (as the recent enthronements of reincarnated young Shugden Lamas show), to continue to bring the dharma of Je Tsongkhapa and Shugden practice,to all who need them, debunk the wrong view of Shugden as a spirit.

    Always

I’ve relied on Dorje Shugden for several years now and I can say that only good things have happened to me and my family. I strongly feel that if the old Shugden monasteries and hermitages in Tibet were to be restored and the practice of this great Dharmapala spread, the people will gain a lot of merit and there will be peace and prosperity, not only in Tibet, but also in the world.

  49. Keng Tan on Dec 13, 2016 at 9:16 am

Thank you Rinpoche, Pastors, Li Kim, Martin Chow and film crew for this incredible videos to counter the Tibetan Administration which went to extraordinary length to enforce the Dorje Shudgen ban for such a long time initially purporting that propitiating Dorje Shugden will harm His Holiness. This is so contradictory to a passage I read in Glen Mullin’s book Path Of The Bodhisattva Warrior, published in 1988, well before His Holiness’s claims and the passage went as follows:

“Tibetans believe the every Dalai Lama is born enlightened, and has complete power over how long he lives and when he will die. Any appearance to the contrary is merely an act for the sake of operating in the mundane world and training the minds of ordinary people”

Well, CTA are Tibetans and I am sure they believe what’s written in the aforementioned paragraph and yet they tried to enforce an illegal ban without a valid basis.

As more people have a better understanding of the principles of Vajrayana, they realised they are unable to continue this on this route have now resorted to discredit the Dorje Shugden practitioners by linking them to the Chinese leader.

It is shameful that after more than 50 years, they are no where close to obtaining independence for the tibetan people and thus have to resort to such contradictory means to smokescreen their failure.

People should be up in arms combat this kind of discrimination in a society that has advance into the 21st century.

I have sent this link to a local radio station presenter James O’Brien at London’s Talk Radio LBC (http://www.lbc.co.uk/radio/presenters/james-obrien/) pleading for him to read and view these video. This is not about going against His Holiness – no, but its about fighting for religious freedom – something humanity recognizes.

I will be sending this link to another radio presenter Nick Ferrari and hope he will take some moments to grace through the problem of widespread religious persecution perpetrated by the Tibetan Administration:

Thank you once again for your hard work to help a community that has little or no voice.

Wow!!! These information and the video is extremely done well. Is time that we counter the lies in the videos which were release by CTA. I have not seen all of them
for now but I can’t wait to share this with my tibetan and friends from all around the world.

  51. Harold Musetescu on Dec 13, 2016 at 7:49 am

All this does is show that the Dalai Lama is up to his old tricks.

Do you really thing that the Dalai Lama is not the secret voice behind all this? Do you really think that if the Dalai Lama did want to “Stop the Ban against Dorje Shugden” he couldn’t did it with a simple statement? Do you really think the CTA would stand up to the Dalai Lama if he publicly stated to “Stopped the Ban against Dorje Shugden”?

The Dalai Lama is behind all these new plots against the followers of Dorje Shugden. Nothing has changed and we followers of Dorje Shugden must grow up and stop our stupid dreams about asking the Dalai Lama to change his mind and stop the ban. We must continue our public protests against the Dalai Lama.

Pray to the Dharmapalas and ask them to engage in the “Rite of Liberation” the “Great Pacification Ritual”.

Thank you Rinpoche, pastors, and team for all for your hard work. Too many people continue to suffer, and the world does not need anymore suffering caused by a government that professes democracy but acts indifferent, discrimitory, and contrary to their own constitution. A true democracy does not oppress it’s own people through cloak and dagger techniques. Freedoms of faith/Religion are gureenteed in many governments around the world and in the Universal Decleration of Human Rights by the United Nations. The job of a democratic government is to govern upon the will of the people in free and fair elections and not govern on power concentrated on a select few with their own ideals and ambitions; nor should a democractic goverenment make “make windows into men’s souls.” – A famous Quote from Queen Elizabeth I, who had to govern during turblent times of religious conflict. She was defending the right of her people to follow the religion they felt close to their hearts, and the Tibetans should do the same for themselves.

May this benefit many sentient beings, and may the Ban be lifted.

Dear Rinpoche and all respectful, hard working Kecharian

My salute to all of you on good work and successfully release of video countering extremely untrue allegations about practising of Dorje Shugden.

I perceived that the CTA’s anti Shugden video are pushing the very wrong button by accusing all Shugden practitioners linked to China Government. Why? Why so? Their motives are very clear. It’s solely political motivated.

But why this simple unfounded logic, a point that does not make sense can become one of CTA’s major claims? It’s simple, their methodology becoming very EXTREMES, desperate and therefore naturally become narrow minded without even realising by them self. This accusation is not just a discrimination of religious but an open violation of human right. That is how bad the current day’s CTA leaderships are.

Thank you Zawa Rinpoche for your kind words and encouragements. (Tsem) Rinpoche, Martin, Li Kim, Pastor Jean Ai, Pastor Niral and other have all worked very hard to shoot these videos.

I really like the videos because it is based on facts and logic debate. We all hope many Tibetans can see the logic and stand up against the ban and eventually lift the Dorje Shugden ban.

May all Buddhist practitioners live harmoniously and befriend with each other. After all, don’t we all want to achieve enlightenment?

  57. Valentina Suhendra on Dec 13, 2016 at 2:18 am

    Dear Rinpoche

Thank you for this excellent post. Thank you Martin and the film crew, Pastor Jean Ai and Pastor Niral for their participation in the counter anti-Dorje Shugden video.

I must say that when I first found the new anti-Shugden video from the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), I was very much offended. They accused Dorje Shugden practitioners as being paid/ supported by China. It is something to be called Chinese dogs and other demeaning words by anonymous people, but it is something else when we see a government body who claimed to be democratic accusing a certain group of people as being paid/ supported by the Chinese government just because their practice Dorje Shugden.

Personally, I practice Dorje Shugden because my teacher, H.E. the 25th Tsem Tulku Rinpoche gave me the practice and I have no relationship with the Chinese government whatsoever.

These five videos response to the CTA anti-Shugden video are very useful in debunking the issues. It is very necessary to clarify the CTA’s false claims that there is no discrimination against Dorje Shugden practitioners and Dorje Shugden practitioners are Chinese-linked. I always wonder, why the CTA spent money to release this anti-Shugden video instead of helping to increase the welfare of Tibetan refugees in India. It is amazing how far the CTA can go to paint a negative picture on Dorje Shugden worship to cover their shortcomings in taking care of their people.

Thank you Zawa Rinpoche for your kind words of encouragement. When we hear other Rinpoche’s, lamas, geshe, monks and Dharma student give thanks and give positive comments for our work, it inspires, encourage and strengthens our faith even further and to work even harder to speak up and speak the truth. It gives us courage and most certainly it bonds all Shugden practitioners even more. And most certainly something we can all rejoice in.

The team under His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s guidance have worked very hard to bring this truth out, and together, with other Shugden practitioners all around the world sharing this TRUTH… I am very sure we will bring the ban down. For the sake of humanity it MUST come down! So thank you for your encouraging work Rinpoche!

    • Li Kim on Dec 16, 2016 at 3:20 am

Thank you Zawa Rinpoche for your comments. The motivation behind these videos are pure and purposeful. It is our goal that millions will benefit, not only for the Shugden practitioners worldwide but also those who have been misled by the false propaganda of the CTA. I believe that many have been manipulated and forced to believe that the practice of Dorje Shugden is evil. The CTA has persisted this and in doing so created a big and deep divide among the Tibetan people around the world. With these videos I pray that people will think deeper and clearer about this whole issue of the Ban, and most importantly understand and feel the sufferings of Shugden practitioners. Please be well Zawa Rinpoche. With folded hands, Li Kim

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this and I was touched by this story very much. I personally think that this faithful dog must has very close karmic connection with its owner and it know that the owner is died. Furthermore, animals are very sensitive to our energies and mind states. So, if we are loving kindness and compassion, they can feel our love and care.

As such, we must treat the animals like humans too. Not to harm them because humans can be reborn as animals and animals can be reborn as humans. We have to accept that humans and animals are interconnected and just like a family.

Spiritual practice is definitely much more than doing good for others. When we practice “spirituality” without religion and from our own understanding, how sure are we that we are on the right track? When we practice spiritual with the guide of religion, we will certain progress and much easily to attain higher levels. Thank you, Rinpoche for this teaching.

When we truly love and care for another being like a family, whether this other being is a dog or cat, a child or a stranger, it will break our heart when it is gone. Many people may not be capable of this emotion towards a pet but as we evolved, we will realize we are capable to develop such feelings for animals. It is common in the west to have pets cemetery because of this reason. Thank you for this article, Rinpoche.

Interesting info and article about werewolves. I never knew about its origins and the various wolves existence until I read this. I have thus far know about werewolves only from the movies and the famous twilight show. But one thing I noticed from the articles is the gruesome manner in killing the person (or suspected werewolves). Some were cursed to be a werewolves. There just so much anger, violence and killing in the whole process, which probably the reason why werewolves are known to kill and hurt human and other animals.

Anyway, whether we believe the existence of werewolf is true or not, I believe that there are other forms of beings in world. And we should not handle or deal with other beings with violence and anger.

Everything we offer to Buddha is a form of mind transformation and practise our mind to be focus even when doing water offering. When pouring the water into the bowl we have to recite Om Ah Hum (3 times), think positively and pouring it slowly so it does not spill and leaving the space of a grain of rice before reaching the top. After offering we also have to clean the bowls properly without leaving stain. All this is to train our mind.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing the many benefits and water offering in a simple to understand article.

Trolls are assiociates as beings of Scandinavian folklore.A large number of different mythological creatures continue to live on in Scandinavian folklore. They have different shapes, habitat and filthy features . There are also numerous tales of trolls told and retold.Trolls are also believed to have the magigal powers, which were folktales ,posses capabilities that are beyond human .What ever it was a remnant of a long-lost reality for sure. I do believe that there’s a very high chance trolls had existed in the past.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing ,i do enjoyed all the stories in these article even though it just folk tales.

People always expect return on some contribution being done especially in charity events. When the return was under their expectations then they will feel sad or unhappy.
As Rinpoche said, Dharma is a teachings to transform our mind to become bodicitta or selfless to benefit others without condition. Once we practiced selfless mind, our mind will not be affected by others people reaction.
What will be my legacy? I think this is not really important to me anymore once I know Dharma teachings from Rinpoche.

We are no strangers to the creatures called Werewolves. They are often depicted as the Jekyll-and-Hyde-like monsters in movies who are unable to control their animal instincts when they shift from human form to a wolf-like creature, usually during the full moon. Together with the Vampires who can transform into bats, are my childhood imagery villains, who triggered my curiosity on mythical creatures during younger days. They still do, lol.

It is gruesome to learn that real life werewolves are actually brutal even when they are in human forms. It is a far depict from the movies and fictions, where they are civil and level headed when in human form. I hope one day science or technology can provide more proves the existence of werewolves, and debunk the reason of this mystical shapeshifter.

This is a very touching article. I totally agree that dog is a man’s best friend. They are always so loyal to the owner. However it is sad that not all pet owners are such. Some will only treat them literally as an animal and therefore do not take good care of them. Dogs or any other animals are beings that have feeling. There should not be neglected and be abused by us. This article reminds us to always care for all beings and respect them.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this heartwarming article.

Its a heartfelt touching article of this faithful dog.Cannot imagine this ,such a wonderful relationship between that dog and the deceased owner. The greatest fear dogs know is the fear that we will not come back for them That i noticed from observing from my pet poodle. In this case this faithful dog knew his owner won’t be back.
Dogs are loyal, patient, fearless, forgiving, capable of pure love and have feelings too.He must have missed the owner badly that he wanted to accompany the owner all the way to the resting place.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing. May that faithful dog ,continue to serve and well taken, love by the other family members.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

It is so wonderful to be kind to people, be caring, feed them, make sure they are healthy and share dharma if they are interested with them for their future. But simply to be nice to others is worth getting up and being alive...otherwise why be alive to hurt/use/distrust and hate others? No point living that way..must change that..... It is nice to live our lives to benefit others and be patient even if we have been hurt before because by caring we can heal the hurt and \'defeat\' the ones that hurt us because we don\'t become bitter..... But simply to be nice to others is worth getting up and being alive...otherwise why be alive to hurt/use/distrust and hate others? No point living that way..must change that..... It is nice to live our lives to benefit others and be patient even if we have been hurt before because by caring we can heal the hurt and 'defeat' the ones that hurt us because we don't become bitter..... Ronnie asked: Dear Rinpoche and Pastors, I'm studying abroad and very far away from home, seeking guidance and advice as I have no one else I can talk to about this. Please read with an open mind, I don't know where else to go for help. I'm pregnant and it's an unplanned pregnancy. I'm stuck between keeping it or letting it go. I'm young and having a child at my age in the society we live in now would be considered taboo. The father of the child thinks I should let it go because it may cause a setback to both our careers and cause major family issues. He thinks we aren't ready to raise a child especially since we're both still in university and his parents think badly of me even though they've never met me or tried to get to know me. I'm sure no one would ever have the heart to take away a heartbeat but it seems like it isn't the right time to have a child now and if we did go through with it, the child probably won't be able to have the best things life can offer looking at where we are now in terms of finance and maturity. I'm lost, confused and unsure what the right thing to do is now. Any advice at all would be helpful right now. Thank you so very much for taking time to read my story.
pastor answered: Dear Ronnie, I’m sorry to read that you are going through this situation. I can understand that this situation is tough to go through. You are always more than welcome to come here to ask questions. May I suggest that you talk to either someone in your family or your friends to help you come to an appropriate solution? This is because, what you feel, what you are going through, will change from time to time and you would need someone to talk to, someone that you can lean on through this situation you are facing. Depending on where you are in the world, professional help can also be sought to help you make a decision, which will be the best option for you seeking help. From a Buddhist perspective, the taking of a life is not considered a positive act, therefore those on the Buddhist path, would normally abstain taking a life if possible. However, that being said, one must always weigh the decision oneself. Everything we do in life, necessarily involves karma both positive and negative. That is why Buddhists try to overcome samsara in general. Your situation is complicated because you are abroad, but if possible you should really open up to someone you are close to in order to help you through making this decision on a personal basis. When you talk to someone, whom you are able to express yourself more, you may able to come to better decision that is right for you. There may be other options open to you if you seek help. I personally know women who have been in similar situations. One of these women, let the child go and the other went through the pregnancy and then gave the child up for adoption. You may or may not have thought of this option, but it is one that could be open to you, depending on where in the world you are. Any decision we make in life, however big or small it may seem, has far reaching consequences whether in this life, or in future lives. This is just a part and parcel of life within samsara. However, we should weigh the decisions we make clearly given the situation we are in. We cannot always do this weighing ourselves, but need to talk about our options with others we can rely on such a friends, family or professionals. You should consider doing this, which will help you greatly emotionally, and may give you the grounding you need to make the correct decision for you. I hope this helps.

Dongho asked: What is a nyung ne practice? According to Lama Zopa Rinpoche, it's a purification sadhana. However, what are the instructions for this? I'm guessing it's to Chenrezig, but how does it work? Also, from what I have read, Vajrasattva practice is only for broken vows while Akshobhya is for regular misdeeds. Does that mean one has to take the Akshobhya practice to purify bad karma from this life and previous instead of Vajrasattva? As for the purification practices, are some like Vajrasattva and Chenrezig only to purify the bad karma and let it come quickly or is it to prevent it from coming? I am confused in it. As for signs, I recited a mantra of White Yangchenma that a Sakya lama, Lama Kunga Thartse Rinpoche, gave me with the Sakya visualizations I read on, and after one mala, I heard some lady call my Korean name even though no one in my neighborhood knows of my name and my family members weren't in the area. What does this mean?
pastor answered: Dear Dongho, Thank you for your questions, it’s nice to see you back here again. Nyung Ne practice is a purification practice that centres around Chenrezig. It is a very beneficial practice that stems from a holy nun named Gelong-ma Palmo. It is a two and a half day practice that can be repeated many times over and over again to intensify the purification and build a closer relationship with Chenrezig. As well as its purification aspect, the practice is known to generate vast amount of merit, and also compassion, as the practice centres around Chenrezig, the Buddha of compassion. The practice involves taking the eight Mahayana precepts for the duration, fasting, meditating, prostrating and praying. The practice usually entails empowerment into the practice of Chenrezig, therefore the exact meditations, prayers can only be explained to those who have the empowerment. Vajrasattva practice is not necessarily only for repairing broken vows, etc. That’s why it is advised that you engage in the practice at the end of the day, to repair any vows that you may have broken during that day, as well as stopping any negative karma you created that day from multiplying. This would entail reciting the mantra 21 times, together with the four opponent powers. However, if you engage in this practice more intensely, it definitely has the capability to purify all sorts of karma. That is the reason why in Ngondro, or preliminary practices one engages in before tantra, the practice of 100,000 Vajrasattva mantra recitation is an integral part. You can read more about Vajrasattva and his practice here: http://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/prayers-and-sadhanas/an-important-purification-practice.html. Within purification practices, some of the karma will be purified completely, so you do not feel its effects at all, but when purifying other karma you will need to feel its effects somehow. For example if you have the karma to be in a car accident and get seriously injured, and you are engaging in any practice, but especially the purification practice, since you have purified most of the karma, you will only experience being in a very minor car accident, with only very superficial injuries. Therefore, in this case, the karma has been purified to the extent that it does not affect you as much, but you still need to feel part of its effect. In regards to any signs that you receive which engaging in the practices given to you by one of your specific gurus, you should report the happenings to that particular guru. He will be able to give you more of an accurate answer, as it may be related to the particular practice that he gave to you. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Thomas asked: Dear Pastors, When a serkyem set has been used so much and one is ready to get rid of it and replace it with a new one. What is a respecful mode of disposal?
pastor answered: Dear Thomas, Thank you for your question. Your question shows that you have a lot of respect for offering items, which is very good. If possible, you should try to repair the item if within your means, and doing so make embellishments to make it a better offering item, which can still be used. If this is not possible, then you should dispose of the item with a good motivation. You should think that this item has been used to make offerings to the enlightened beings, but now that it is broken or unusable, you are going to dispose of it, and replace it with a new one. Since it itself is not a receptacle of energies of the enlightened beings, such as a statue, tsa tsa or thangka, it does not require a special dissolution before being disposed of. However since it was used to make offerings, it still requires some form of respect when disposing, and this comes from one’s motivation and the way in which you dispose of it. Usually, when disposing of items in this way, make the motivation that you have used it and that it is now time to dispose of it, and replace it with a new one. When you do this you can dispose of it in a respectful manner. For example, if you are going to throw it away, you do not simply open the trash can and throw it in. You wrap it up in something, like a bag or newspaper and dispose of it respectfully. Another method you can dispose of it is to recycle the object, if the material it is made from can be recycled. That way you are more conscious of the environment as well. I hope this explanation helps. Thank you.

Curious asked: Dear pastors In a recent youtube video something like paying respect to deceased ones, pastor Nirel Patel explained that merits are like the interest and good karma is like the principal sum. So merits always regenerate themselves and hence do not get used up but good karma is like the principal sum so it gets used up. So my question is what are practices that generate merit? And can we turn a mundane daily activity into a meritorious one? Maybe can you provide an example?
pastor answered: Dear Curious, Thank you for your question. First, to clarify a point, in regards to good karma, you are right, it is like a principal sum in a bank account, but you take away from it when you experience something good in your life, and you add to it when you do good deeds. Merit on the other hand, once accrued never diminishes, therefore when something is based on merit, it is based on the energies of this never diminishing sum, which you could say is like interest. In short, the principal sum when talking about karma is always added to and subtracted from. However, when talking about merit, once you have it, there is no way to destroy it, you will always benefit from it. There are various ways to explain how to generate merit. I will explain a way that I find easiest to understand. In normal life, when we go about performing any sort of activity, be it ‘good’ or ‘bad’ we do so out of ignorance of the true nature of existence, and it is usually self-motivated. For example, we work our entire lives to generate monetary income, so that we have enough money, resources, and materials goods to be comfortable. This is self-motivated, but it is the accepted way the world works these days, and is part and parcel of being bound to samsaric life. On the other hand, the act of merit making can be categorised into three parts: i) motivation, ii) the act itself, and iii) dedication. Let’s start with motivation, when engaging in various virtuous acts, we should have the motivation that by engaging in the act, we have the motivation to alleviate the suffering of someone else, and that may we gain enlightenment so that we can benefit them in the future. The second is the act itself. The third is to dedicate the energy of the virtuous act to gaining enlightenment. These three are what make merit. This may be a little confusing, so let me give an example: giving help to a homeless person. Whereas in ordinary life, this is something praised as a very good deed, it does not create merit without motivation and dedication. In order for this to become merit, one must set the motivation that one is giving help to the homeless free of the eight worldly concerns, to alleviate their suffering and also making the motivation that you will achieve enlightenment for the sake of the person or people you are helping. Then after you have helped them, you dedicate the energy created to the spiritual journey towards full enlightenment to help all sentient beings, while at the same time benefiting as many sentient beings as possible on the way there. This transforms the act into not only a virtuous action but also one that generates merit. On the other hand, if you were to help the homeless without these, you are creating good karma, which although beneficial, keeps you bound to existence within samsara. As it is the goal of Buddhist practice to overcome the cycle of samsara, a Buddhist would want to generate merit instead of good karma. I hope this explanation helps. Thank you.

D.A. asked: If Begtse Chan is not from Mongolia, what are his real origins or story exactly? And which lamas offer his empowerment? As for Manjushri Nagarakshasa, which lamas specifically offer his empowerment and practice?
pastor answered: Dear D.A. Thank you for your question. Begtse, is also known as Chamsing, or Jamsaran in Mongolian. As mentioned in an earlier sharing with someone who also asked a question about Begtse, the practiced was introduced to Tibet from India by the translator Nyen Lotsawa, and is considered one of the main protectors of the Hayagriva cycle of tantras. According to the scriptures that derive from the Sakya tradition, who incorporated the practice from the translators, and in which tradition Begtse became a very important protector, Begtse in a previous life was born many eons ago. In that particular life, he was born as the younger prince in a royal family. His name was Drag Gye, and his older brother’s name was Drag Den. Over time both princes developed differing religious beliefs, to the point where they could not get along with each as they both held their own religious views strongly. As was the custom during that time, they decided to settle their differences through logical debate, with the loser having to convert to the winner’s religion. This custom was also prevalent in ancient India, and there are many stories of such debates occurring between the great masters of the past and those of other faiths. Drag Gye lost the various debates, but ran away instead of converting to his older brother’s religion. Drag Den caught him, and tried to punish him for breaking the rules of debate and going back on his promise. Drag Gye told his brother that even if he was killed he would not give up his religion, however if Drag Den let him go, that in the future when Drag Den became enlightened, he would protect his teachings. With that Drag Den let him go, and gave him a set of copper armour, a stick, and a bow and arrow. Drag Den also gave Drag Gye a new name: Sog Dag Yam Shi Mar Po. After this incident the two brothers never saw each other again in that lifetime. Many lives after that Drag Den was reborn as Prince Siddharta, who eventually became enlightened and is now known as Buddha Shakyamuni. Drag Gye, or Sog Dag Yam Shi Mar Po, was reborn in a cemetery in the North West direction. His parents gave birth to two eggs, one was a coral-like colour and the other was an agate-like colour. These two eggs flew high into the sky and reached the heavenly realms, there they subdued the gods. Then flying back down to earth, they subdued many nagas. Eventually they even came to threaten their own parents. The parents petitioned the Dharma protector Ekajati for her help, who threw her own staff (khatvanga) at the eggs, and broke them apart. From the coral-like coloured egg came a ferocious man with yellow hair, he proclaimed that his name was ‘Sog Dag Yam Shi Mar Po’. When he emerged he was wearing a set of copper armour, wielding a stick, copper sword, and a bow and arrow. From the agate-like coloured egg came a female who was blue in colour, her teeth were like shells, she had turquoise eyebrows, and her hair was made of fire. She emerged wielding a copper knife, ritual dagger (phurba), rode a terrifying bear and wore an intricate necklace made of agate and lapis lazuli. It was then that Ekajati once again took action, and subdued them, after which they became Dharma protectors. The male figure became known as Begtse, and the female as his sister. When you propitiate Begtse, his sister is automatically included and aids practitioners as well. As for which lama offer his practice and empowerment, most lamas do not advertise which teachings or practice they hold. Therefore you should respectfully approach lamas and ask them if they have the practice and can bestow it, or if they know of any lamas that have the practice, depending on how much you want to practice Begtse. Similarly, this applies to those lamas who have the practice of Manjushri Nagarakshasa. However, this practice is included in the Rinjung Gyatsa series of empowerments. This unique cycle of teachings, includes all 4 classes of tantric practices, and includes the practice of Manjushri Nagarakshasa. Therefore those lamas who have received the complete transmission, and have kept their commitments for this practice, are qualified to pass this on to others. I hope this explanation helps. Thank you.
