OUR KECHARA SOUP KITCHEN IN NORTH MALAYSIA
KECHARA SOUP KITCHEN TAKING OFF IN NORTHERN MALAYSIA-PENANG!!
Our first KSK 2011 Charity Dinner!!
On the 17th of April, Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) held a charity dinner in Penang!
Held at the E&O hotel, Patsy Gooi (branch director of KSK Penang) hosted a dinner for 320 guests, including the Chief Minister of the State of Penang, Lim Guan Eng, and the President of Mouawad Asia, Mr Antoine Bakhache.
Dato’ Ruby Khong (President of KSK) was also there together with the KL KSK team to give their support.
Even though Penang is quite a small state, the tables were sold out and altogether they raised about RM120,000!
This funds was raised from the sale of tables, Ambank’s kind donation of RM20,000, the auction of Julia Jewels and the 2 pendants and watch that was kindly sponsored by Mouawad.
Mouawad’s items were sponsored for lucky draw purposes, but those who won it kindly put them back up for auction! Other people such as Zaitun and Rose Sidek sponsored Gooi Soon Lee and Lone Pine Hotel Manager, Khoo Goo Lim to sing up on stage! They were both sponsored RM1,000 each.
All these different types of fun sponsorship helped to raise the RM120,000 which will be used for the renovation and maintenance of the KSK Penang building.
KSK Penang currently gives out 100 packets of food every Monday night from 10.30PM-12.30AM. However, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday the homeless and urban poor will come to the KSK building from 6.00PM-8.00PM to receive food.
Below are photos of the event and a video of Lim Guan Eng giving his opening speech. Also in the video… Patsy Gooi’s son, Gavin, sings a song that was written by me about my guru, Kyabje Zong Rinpoche.
Do take a look… Penang can raise so much money for a good cause. There are good people everywhere…

Well done KSK team for organising a successful event and bring new hope and assistance to the homeless in Penang. May more people will be involved in charity and volunteering work that is so beneficial to those in need.
KSK is spreading its wings fast and wide. With Malaysia’s first Lady gracing the occassion of the opening of its newly acquired permanent based building at Jalan Imbi not very long ago, KSK Penang Branch has its first fund raising grandeur charity Dinner at E & O Hotel at Penang on 17thApril, 2011. The grand occassion was graced by the honourable presence of the Chief Minister of the State of Penang, Mr. Lim Guan Eng and many other honoured guests. The dinner which was organised under the good and capable hands of KSK Penang Branch Manager, Patsy Gooi, was seen to be definitely a celebration of glamour for a good cause in line with our KSK MOTTO – ” Show kindness to those who have forgotten what is liked to be cared for and loved. Touch someone’s life and make a fifference today!!”
