Sponsor-A-Tree at KFR!
In the Buddhist tradition, it is extremely meritorious to make offerings to the Sangha, as it is the Sangha who compassionately shares with us the Dharma that helps us on our spiritual path. Tsem Rinpoche has said that the one way to check if Buddha Shakyamuni existed is to look at a monk’s robes. Sangha members spend their entire life learning the Dharma, learning from their Gurus, who learned the Dharma from their own Gurus, who learned the Dharma from their own Gurus… all the way to Buddha Shakyamuni.
In that sense, it is the Sangha members who are the lifeline of the Buddha’s teachings!
One such offering that we can offer in appreciation to our spiritual teacher, who embodies and teaches us the Buddha Dharma, is an offering of a wonderful environment. An environment for the Dharma to flourish and to be practiced at. Therefore, here at Kechara Forest Retreat, at the home of our beloved teacher and also to all spiritual aspirants, the Green Team proudly presents to you a meritorious way to beautify our retreat land by sponsoring a tree. After all, what’s a forest without lots and lots of beautiful trees!
Please feel free to read up on the short write-up below to find out the benefits of sponsoring a tree and how you can do so!
Our Kechara Forest Retreat team is always looking for ways to make our environment conducive for others to carry out their spiritual practice. May many great Dharma scholars and masters be born from our retreat center and keep our pure lineage alive for a long time.
Thank you!

Buddhism emphasizes greatly on environmental protection, and the emphasis on the importance of keeping our environment green and lush is portrayed throughout the Buddha’s life. The Buddha was born in the Lumbini Garden, engaged spiritual practice in the forest, attained Enlightenment under the sacred Bodhi tree, began His first sermon in the Deer Park and even entered Nirvana between two Sal trees.
For the Sangha
Since Buddha’s time, the Buddha has preached to take loving care of animals, and that we should never harm the trees and grass, but instead regard them as our home where all sentient beings can abide in peace and harmony.
For the Sangha, creating the right and conducive environment for them to practice the Dharma is crucial. A conducive environment will hasten one’s spiritual path which will lead to the development of more learned and wise individuals to spread the wisdom of Dharma to all sentient beings.
For you
Offering beautiful things to the Buddha and Sangha is a well known and general practice that all Buddhists would engage in daily in order to collect merits. Beautifying the area where the Sangha lives is a meritorious way of offering a nice environment to the Sangha. The work of the green team in Kechara Forest Retreat is an offering of the 5 senses to the Sangha which are:
- Offering of sound, the peaceful sound of the trees rustling.
- Offering of sight, the beauty of the flowers and greens.
- Offering of touch, the ground that the Sangha walk on, the leaves and the vegetables that can be harvested.
- Offering of aroma, the sweet smell of nectar from the flowers, and the fresh air from the trees at dawn.
- Offering of taste, the beautiful organic garden that produces fresh vegetables for the Sangha.
While all these offerings helps you to collect immeasurable merits for your spiritual growth, it also creates the causes for you to:
- To receive and abide in an environment that is pleasing to one’s 5 senses.
- For the Sangha to have a conducive environment to practice spirituality, thus it creates the causes for more Dharma teachers to arise.
- To have a conducive environment yourself to practice spirituality
How do I adopt a tree?
Select what tree you wish to sponsor, make a good motivation and we will do the rest.
You can also opt to support the ongoing maintenance of our peaceful environment in Kechara Forest Retreat.
Be happy that you are creating a peaceful environment for the Sangha to live in and practice the Dharma. Rest assured that in your offering of a perfect environment to the Sangha, you are creating the causes for a lifetime of peace for yourself and all that you hold dear.

Greens are the best healing for the eyes, when we wake up with lots of greens, we’ll feel better and fresher.
Kechara Forest Retreat is a place for healing, it heals not only the physical body but also the mind, so when the place is planted full of greens, it will make the healing better. We must give what we can to materialize Kechara Forest Retreat and build it to it’s best, so the many more people in the future will be benefited.

A beautiful environment is very suitable for meditators or people who are on retreats and so forth. And of course a place away from the hustle and bustle of samsaric activities. KFR will be so so great by the time it is finished and many many sangha and practitioner come to visit and stay. And make this place a focus for spiritual activities in Malaysia.
Hi Rinpoche,
Yes, it’s a good move to green our planet.
Just a suggestion – can we have “small amount” rather than “fix amount” donation?
Like a group of accumulative fund from small amount or “as you wish amount” and put them under the category of “anonymous”.
“We give because we care so any amount also a heartfelt move.”
This is particularly helpful to those who have financial limitations but would like to help in small ways.
再美麗的風景,沒有真誠的笑容,總令人缺憾;
Wonderful project for adopt a tree at KFR, everyone can collect merits by sponsor a tree and also can make a green environment. So much benefits, must sharing to my friends.
Such a wonderful opportunity for us to generate merits. Being at Kechara truly is a blessing. From Dana offering to monk’s robe offering and now tree offering too! So many ways to contribute to the growth of Dharma. You can choose whichever way you wish to support.
Thank you for the meritorious opportunities, Rinpoche!
This is a great campaign, by sponsoring trees and support the ‘Green care project’in Kechara forest retreat will collect not only lots of merits but also will create the causes for us to have conducive environment to practise spirituality and have peace for a life time. I hope more and more people will come forward to support this meritorious activities.
This is a great campaign, sponsors also get to collect merits. Will share this with everyone!
Wow this is an excellent way to gain merits and also provide the necessary beautiful trees to make KFR look even better than it is now already! 🙂 not only that, you’ll also be creating a better future for our younger generations. Many of us don’t take care of animals and even those who do stop at just taking care of animals and not their environment, its very sad to see people littering in their own country when they complain about how smelly or dirty it is. We need to take care of our environment its the place that we live in and our future generations.
Thank you to the Green Team for giving us such a good opportunity to gain merits.
In today’s world, trees were being sacrificed in exchange for development. And what do we get for cutting down trees? Pollution, landslide, global warming and many other life theedisaster.
Trees are essential to our world and offer wide benefits to our environment. Trees can provide us food, beautify our environment, control pollution as it absorb carbon dioxide, provide oxygen, cause rainfall, prevent floods and droughts, clean the soil and home to many animals.
The Green team has done a good job in planting trees, flowers, vegetables and vetivers. They are not only providing a conducive environment for our Lama to stay and work in, they are playing an important role to protect the environment
I hope many people will support this program, whether is for own merits or for the sake of our future, to live in a better world.
Dharma and keeping green, what a wonderful project! In Kechara, there can never be a dull day as there is so much diversity coupled with the Dharma to help people. With this combination, the chemistry sparks as an amazing means to help people and create the awareness of the person who we are inside.
Greening the earth is no other than saving lives itself. We all know how much the world today is in need of greens in order to counter the existing pollution.., Do join us and in the leadership of Likheng, our Green Team’s heroine in making Kechara Forest Retreat a beautiful place to be.
I think this is a good idea 🙂 people should be able to sponsor trees in such a wonderful place 🙂 I hope that many people do this and that KFR will become more beautiful with all of the trees that people have sponsored. Thank you for sharing Rinpoche, i hope many people come and see this.
Dear Rinpoche,
What a great campaign to introduce the people who are new to Kechara and it’s 14 Departments.
It is really something for people who don’t really know much about all our other Offering Packages.
What is even better? The fact that there a few packages to choose from even the younger generations such as kids can save up to sponsor a small tree!
I think it’s also time for me to start saving to sponsor some trees as well.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing!
Love
Jutika
Dear Rinpoche, Wow! We can even sponsor trees at KFR now? That is way to cool! I promise that I’m going to sponsor a tree in another 2 months. I love trees, imagine if there’s no tree in this world what will happen? I think landslide will be the one to happen because there are nothing to hold the soil and the second one is every sentient beings will die of suffocation.
This is a wonderful campaign. I hope that many will support it because there is a lot of barren areas around KFR. When there are more trees, it will not only be good for the environment but also good for the people staying at KFR as the scenery is more beautiful and the air is much cleaner.
By planting trees, we can prevent the landslides and floods that come with torrential rains during monsoon seasons.
It was wonderful way to support the Sangha and Dharma.Do it now, dont let the chance slip away.
This was great and wonderful, that we can sponsor a tree for Kechara Forest Retreat to collect merits and it is so meaningful.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this post to us.
This is really an amazing campaign! It doesn’t only benefits the land but also benefits the kind sponsors. I will definitely share this awesome activity with my friends. Thank You Aunty Li Kim for starting up this wonderful campaign.
Thank You for sharing Rinpoche.
Wow, thanks Li Kim for sharing this campaign with us and all the information above.
We can collect the Merits by sponsor a tree as offering to sangha hence help to beautified Kechara Forest Retreat and care our world.
Thank you Rinpoche and Kechara Forest Retreat Green team for giving us a great opportunity to serve the Sangha community and collect merits for our future lives. This kind of opportunity is very rare and not common in else where. By sponsoring a tree, one can collect many kinds of merits and help to save the environment for a very long period.
This is a great opportunity for us to collect merits and contribute towards a good cause. The Green Team has done such a wonderful job in maintaining and beautifying Kechara Forest Retreat spending hours and hours under the sun planting, weeding, watering to make sure that the plants grow well and the flowers bloom nicely.
Kechara Forest Retreat is home for our Guru and all spiritual aspirants; we should support this holy land in any way we can.
綠化环保的义举,祈愿大家共襄盛举,功德无量!
This is a wonderful way create the causes and conditions for beneficial activities.
This is a very meaningful way to spend your money. Imagine, you are saving the land and creating a conducive environment for all its inhabitants, humans, animals, insects, birds etc to live there safe and protected. Kechara Forest Retreat is sacred land and will benefit thousands of people in the future who will come here to find peace and solace. Some might even become enlightened in this place. Do create the causes and conditions for beneficial activities to materialise in this place. It is a great opportunity to collect merits.
This is Great! Such a good way to sponsor. I find it wonderful that there are so many ways that we can sponsor such meritorious deeds. As this will be an ongoing project, there will also be maintenance involved therefore there will be funds needed. The Green team is currently doing such a great job at planting, maintaining, weeding, watering, etc under the hot sun everyday! Let us help them in any way we can!
This is a wonderful campaign I do hope people will start to help out the fund-raising because there’s a lot of land and slopes that desperately need plants, both decorative and ground-holding plants. The plants are crucial in holding the loose soil together and that is very important because it rain a lot here in KFR, Bentong. The rain can be torrential especially during monsoon season and it is capable of causing cascades of soil and erosion down the slopes. That is particularly dangerous for structures that are perched on hillslopes or even those that are at the foothills. Supporting this campaign is not only beautifying the area but you are actually safeguarding it from landslides and such.
