Since 1996, practitioners of the Tibetan Buddhist Protector Dorje Shugden have been unfairly segregated, ostracised, suppressed and persecuted by the Tibetan leadership, also known as the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) who are based in Dharamsala, North India. For over 20 years, Shugden practitioners have suffered from discrimination simply because of their choice of religious faith, and the unjust, oftentimes violent treatment is well-documented.

The Tibetan leadership proclaim themselves to be a democratic administration, but what kind of democratic leader publishes information condemning a religion and its believers on his administration’s official website? Would any democratic government amend its nation’s constitution to single out a religious belief and ‘advise’ against its practice? And would any democratic administration constitutionally condemn practitioners of a religious denomination as “criminals in history“?

The Tibetan leaders deny the existence of a Dorje Shugden ban. They claim that they merely advise against Dorje Shugden practice and that Shugden practitioners have the freedom to practise whatever religion they wish. But in all truth, it is not just advice but pure persecution against a religious faith and its followers, which should never happen in a democratic and free nation. In the beginning the leadership was very firm on and direct on the ban. Later it did not look good so they were asked to tone down their rhetoric against Dorje Shugden but you can see here very clearly the leadership demanding that all Dorje Shugden monks be expelled immediately from the monastery. Some people might say it’s a monastic rule to be followed, but it was the practice in the monasteries for 400 years. The exiled Tibetan leadership depends on the governments and organizations of the free world for millions per year in donations to sustain them. It will not look good for a group of persecuted refugees to be persecuting their own people using religious segregation.

The unpleasant and unfortunate truth is that Dorje Shugden people are not allowed in Tibetan hospitals, clinics, schools, stores and are denied governmental jobs and parliamentary representation. The Tibetan leadership pressures Tibetan Buddhist monasteries to expel monks who continue their worship of Dorje Shugden. The Tibetan leadership’s Department of Information and International Relations regularly publishes information about prominent Dorje Shugden practitioners on their official websites, to sway public opinion against them and to encourage further stigmatisation and persecution. In reality, it is an official, systematic and institutionalised witch hunt against a group of people who want nothing more than to practise their religion in peace.

And so, undeterred by decades of suffering, discrimination and pain, over 200 Dorje Shugden practitioners from more than 20 different countries recently gathered in Kathmandu, Nepal in a show of unity and support during this difficult period. The International Buddhist Conference of Dorje Shugden Followers was organised not for political reasons, but to discuss methods by which to continue our practice of Dorje Shugden in the spirit of peace and mutual respect as positive spiritual citizens of the global world. This is all Dorje Shugden practitioners want — to live in peace and harmony alongside our neighbours, free to practise our own faith without fear of repercussions.

I thank Reuters from my heart for covering the International Buddhist Conference of Dorje Shugden Practitioners as it lets people know who Dorje Shugden practitioners really are. We are fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, lawyers, doctors, engineers, accountants, artists and musicians – ordinary men and women whose only wish is to exercise their religious freedoms, free from persecution or the fear of it. Reuters has a sterling reputation for publishing timely and influential news articles that are distributed on hundreds of platforms and reach out to all sectors of global society. This Reuters article brings with it a message of peace and reconciliation and drives home the point that Dorje Shugden practice is not motivated by political agendas nor has it ever been. In fact, the practice has a rich history spanning the last 400 years and has benefited people greatly on their spiritual paths to become better and more compassionate citizens of the world. All we want is to see this trend continue.

Reuters bringing more attention to the unity of Dorje Shugden practitioners around the world will give them hope and inspiration because awareness is being created about their plight. Once again, I am grateful to Reuters for running this article. Thank you.

With folded hands,
Tsem Rinpoche

Addendum

Central Tibetan Administration’s Website

Below is a screenshot of Tibet.net, which is the Tibetan leadership’s website. In it, they have a section with “information” about Dorje Shugden which is designed to promote hatred, negativity and direct vulgarities towards Shugden practitioners. What kind of democratic leadership has a section like this on their site targeting a religious group? Imagine the uproar there would be if the American or Canadian, or any other democratic government had sections like this on their site for the public!

His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Website

This is a screenshot of DalaiLama.com which is the official website of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. When this section exists on His Holiness’ website, it actually emboldens Tibetans to discriminate against and segregate Shugden practitioners. This section is basically the Dalai Lama’s ‘endorsement’ of such behaviour; when anti-Shugden individuals see this, they think it is okay to segregate against the practice “because the Dalai Lama said so”. I don’t think the Dalai Lama would agree with this but the webmaster and shadow writers behind his website should not put this type of anti-Dorje Shugden section which subscribes to discrimination against a group because of religion. In the 21st century, this is not fitting of a great spiritual leader like His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Do not discriminate tolerate; is the way to go.

If the Dorje Shugden ban is just advice and not a ban, then why is a section like this necessary on any website?

Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile’s Resolution Stating Government Employees Should Not Rely on Dorje Shugden

In 1996, the Tibetan leadership passed a resolution stating that all departments (and ergo their employees) should not rely on Dorje Shugden (point 8). The resolution also stated that individuals who do engage in its worship will harm the Dalai Lama’s life and the so-called Tibetan cause. That being the case, how will anyone within the Tibetan settlements and government be able to openly engage in Dorje Shugden practice after that, if their worship has been widely labelled as anti-Dalai Lama, anti-CTA and treasonous? To openly practice after that will leave them open to criticism, vulgarities, harassment and discrimination, as Dorje Shugden practitioners have been for the last 20 years. So they will be left with three options: to give up the practice (which many will not do), to practice secretly, or to give up their jobs.

Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile’s Resolution Naming Dorje Shugden Practitioners as Criminals in History

This is a screenshot of tibet.net, the Central Tibetan Administration’s official website, which shows the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile’s unanimous resolution dated 17 March 2014 naming Dorje Shugden practitioners as criminals in history (point 3, paragraph 2).

The Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile passed a resolution on 17 March 2014 naming all Dorje Shugden practitioners as criminals in history.

The Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile passed a resolution on 17 March 2014 naming all Dorje Shugden practitioners as “criminals in history”. On what basis can the Tibetan leadership condemn all Dorje Shugden believers, including the elderly, infirm, young, and those not of Tibetan nationality, as criminals?

VIDEO: Dalai Lama bans Dorje Shugden practice
and expels monks

His Holiness the Dalai Lama was recorded in Drepung Monastery in 2008 clearly stating that those who refused to give up their Dorje Shugden practice should be expelled from the monasteries. His Holiness even said that if people found it difficult to fulfill this instruction, that they should say that the Dalai Lama told them to expel Dorje Shugden practitioners.

My question is this: if giving up Dorje Shugden practice is just advice, and it is up to us who we wish to rely on, then why are there such heavy repercussions for people who choose to keep the practice? As a result of His Holiness saying this, thousands of Shugden monks were expelled from the monasteries, and were forced to set up their own monasteries where they would be able to continue their Dorje Shugden practice.

VIDEO: Gaden Monastery Attacked

Since the inception of the Dorje Shugden ban 20 years ago, the CTA (Central Tibetan Administration) continues to organize a hateful campaign against Dorje Shugden practitioners. In doing so, the Tibetan leadership has gone against the very core teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on compassion and tolerance and thereby, misled the world over the nature of their activities. The Tibetan leadership pursues huge sponsorship and financial aid from the West in order to run its operations but they actually channel these funds towards campaigns that suppresses religious freedom within the Tibetan communities through various means to instigate violent suppression against Dorje Shugden practitioners.

This video footage shows clearly how Dorje Shugden practitioners have lived their lives in fear for the last 20 years due to the ban on Dorje Shugden. Although the Tibetan leadership and supporters have continued to use various violent and underhanded means to segregate and discriminate Dorje Shugden practitioners, the practitioners themselves have not fought back. Instead, they continue to uphold their peaceful reliance on their Dorje Shugden lineage lamas and especially the practices and teachings they have received in relations to the protector deity. The main part of the video was filmed in 2000 and it shows 3,000 lay and ordained Tibetans heading towards Gaden Shartse Monastery in South India in order to riot against a group of Dorje Shugden practitioners.

France 24 is a reputable news network based in France, known for their objective reporting style. They covered the Dorje Shugden issue extensively, surely a reflection of the seriousness of the issue for them to devote so much airtime to it. In their video, France 24 captured on film the discrimination against a Dorje Shugden monk.

VIDEO: Al Jazeera reports on the Dorje Shugden issue

Based in the Middle East, Al Jazeera was formed in response to the heavy influence of Western culture on the media. They are known to cover controversial topics that other news agencies may be reluctant to cover, and provide hard-hitting, objective coverage of current affairs.

Evidence of the Ban

Over the years, my students have collected evidence of the ban against Dorje Shugden. Personally, I find it quite disappointing and sad that they have been able to collect so much evidence because it just goes to show how widespread and pervasive this ban has become. As you can see below, notices banning Dorje Shugden practitioners can be found just about anywhere in the Tibetan settlements. Whether a Dorje Shugden person is trying to access healthcare or enter a restaurant, or try to buy something from a shop, they are banned everywhere and refused service. How is this just ‘advice’ when the repercussions of practising Dorje Shugden are so violent inside the Tibetan communities and settlements?

    Dear friends,

Tibet has produced many powerful meditations, rituals and guidelines to help us gain spiritual protection, gain wisdom and higher states of consciousness. In general Tibet has produced many powerful methods for the growth of our spiritual evolution. Dorje Shugden is an angel, a saint, a powerful spiritual protector-warrior who originated 350 years ago when a highly awakened Tibetan Lama fulfilled his vows to become a special being to grant protection, wisdom, material needs, safety when travelling (normal and astral travel) and spiritual awakening. Both the Great 5th Dalai Lama and the current His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama composed short yet effective prayers to invoke upon the power and blessings of this special saint and protector. One can recite either one of the prayers that you feel suits you, anytime or even daily. When you feel a special need for help, you can recite either prayer anytime. When you are feeling down, afraid or just need a blessing, you can recite them. After reciting either invocation, it is good to chant the mantra of Dorje Shugden: Om Benza Wiki Bitana Soha.

You do not have to be a Buddhist or practitioner of any religion to invoke upon the blessings and protection of this special enlightened and awakened angel Dorje Shugden. He helps all without discrimination or bias as he is filled with compassion and love. Divinity has no boundaries, they help all who call upon them.

Enclosed are the prayers in English, Chinese and Tibetan.

May you be safe, protected and blessed.

Divination (‘mo’) Text by Dorje Shugden

This is an important divination (‘mo’) text composed by Dorje Shugden himself. Dorje Shugden took trance of the Choyang Dulzin oracle lama, the senior oracle of Gaden Shartse Monastery, and instantly on the spot composed this text within two hours.

The divination text contains information on how to use dice to do divination for the future and is known to be highly accurate. When practitioners use this text, they will be in direct contact with Dorje Shugden to get answers to questions about the future. It is for those who have good samaya with Dorje Shugden and are free of the eight worldly dharmas to be of benefit to others in divining the future.

For the first time available, Dorje Shugden and his entourage of 32 asssistants of his mandala.

Dorje Shugden is a powerful protector deity who is also an emanation of Manjushri, a wisdom bestowing Buddha. Therefore, he has great ability to help us to progress further on the spiritual path. He does this by helping us to overcome obstacles and problems for the modern individual.

Due to his enlightened nature, Dorje Shugden is able to manifest 32 deities and within the same abode resides Setrap and Kache Marpo:-

    1. 5 Dorje Shugden families or emanations. They consists of the following:-

    – Dulzin Dorje Shugden, which performs activities to eliminate inner and outer obstacles.
    – Shize, which performs activities to pacify all illnesses and disease.
    – Gyenze, which performs activities to increase all desirable material and spiritual wealth.
    – Wangze, which performs activities to control difficult people and circumstances.
    – Trakze, which performs activities to wrathfully eliminate all insurmountable obstacles and life-threatening situations.

    2. 9 Mothers. They represent protection of the five senses and developing control of the four elements. These are all attributes that signify their ability to assist tantric practitioners with their higher meditations.

    3. 8 Guiding Monks. They represent the Eight Great Bodhisattvas (Avalokitesvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Samantabhadra, Maitreya, Kshitigarbha, Akashagarbha, Sarva-nivarana-viskambini) and they bring about the growth of the Dharma, through the Sangha, Dharma practitioners and Dharma establishments.

    4. 10 Youthful & Wrathful Attendants. They represent the ten wrathful attendants to avert inner and outer obstacles. They are beings who are from Mongolia, China, Kashmir, India, Bengali, etc.

    5. Setrap. He is a senior Dharma Protector from India and an emanation of Amitabha Buddha. He had enthroned Dorje Shugden as an authentic Dharma Protector. Therefore, he also resides within the same mandala of Dorje Shugden.

    6. Kache Marpo. He is not an emanation of Dorje Shugden but he is still an enlightened Dharma Protector in his own right. He was originally known as Tsiu Marpo of Samye Monastery. However, he has placed himself under the service of Dorje Shugden as his chief minister, performing many activities in order to protect and benefit practitioners. Therefore, he stands guard at the main entrance of Dorje Shugden’s mandala. He often takes trance of qualified mediums to speak.

    7. Namkar Barzin. He is the reincarnation of an old Mongolian monk and when he passed away in Phari area of Tibet, his spirit was placed as a powerful assistant of Dorje Shugden. He guards and protects buildings and great institutions especially those that benefit others. He rides on a mythical Gyaling animal that resembles a goat but with scales.

These sacred images are available on *Vajrasecrets. They are made of high quality alloy and are one of a kind. They are based on the lineage of His Holiness Panchen Rinpoche’s monastery, Tashilhunpo in Shigatse, Tibet. In fact, the iconography of these statues are based on detailed photographs taken by H. E. Tsem Rinpoche during a trip to Tashilhunpo’s protector chapel. These are based exactly as the 10th Panchen Lama’s personal collection.

His Holiness the 10th Panchen Lama

Tibetans commonly refer to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama as the “sun and moon” of Tibetan Buddhism. They are the center of Tibetan Buddhist civilization, which draws to its sphere of influence millions of non-Tibetan practitioners. The Panchen Lama’s incarnation line began with the 16th abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen (1570 – 1662). He was bestowed the title of Panchen Lama by His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama after being declared as an emanation of Amitabha.

After being given the title, his three previous incarnations were posthumously also bestowed the title, making Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen the 4th Panchen Lama. He became a teacher to many Tibetans, Bhutanese and Mongolian religious figures, including His Holiness the 4th and 5th Dalai Lamas, and the 1st Jetsun Dampa of Mongolia. A prolific author, Chokyi Gyeltsen is credited with over a hundred compositions, including a number of commentaries and ritual texts that remain central in the Gelukpa tradition today. Along with his role as a teacher of the Dharma, the Panchen Lamas are usually responsible for the recognition of the rebirths of the Dalai Lamas, and vice versa.

The 10th Panchen Lama, Lobsang Trinley Lhundrub Chokyi Gyeltsen (19 February 1938 – 28 January 1989) continued both the spiritual and political roles of his predecessors. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, his contemporary, was even heard to say and echo the Panchen Lama’s own words that the Dalai Lama would safeguard Tibet from the outside while the Panchen Lama would safeguard Tibet from the inside, as he never left Tibet after the political troubles of 1959. He was truly loved by the Tibetans, all the way until his passing. When he taught, thousands of people would attend, not only from his own Gelug lineage, but masters and practitioners from all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.

At his sprawling monastery of Tashi Lhunpo, he has a special chapel specifically dedicated to Dorje Shugden, where prayers and rituals are performed on a daily basis. In his great omniscience the Panchen Lama held Dorje Shugden as the principal Dharma protector of the monastery. He also personally propitiated Dorje Shugden among other Dharma protectors, and even wrote extensive prayers and rituals to Dorje Shugden. These rituals and prayers are contained within his ‘sung bum’ or collected works, which are provided here. As such a great lama, with an erudite and clear understanding of the Buddhist scriptures, a teacher to millions in both Tibet and China, from an established incarnation line and an emanation of the Buddha Amitabha, he could not be mistaken about his practice of Dorje Shugden.

His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama is known for his composition of commentaries and practice texts that are still in use by contemporary Buddhist practitioners both in Tibet and across the world. One of these is a powerful ritual composition propitiating the compassionate Dorje Shugden.

Upon the request by Acharya Lobsang Jangchub to compose a shorter version of the prayer (sadhana) for the exhortation of activities of Dorje Shugden, Panchen Lama immediately composed an abbreviate form of Dorje Shugden’s Kangsol. This text is entitled “Manjunatha’s (Tsongkapa) Lineage protector Dorje Shugden and five forms wrathful propitiations and confessional prayers and fulfilment of activities rites” or “Melodious sound of Accomplishment of the Four Activities” for short. Once the prayers were completed, he had signs and strong feelings that Dorje Shugden has been working hard to protect the Buddhadharma in general and the lineage of Lama Tsongkhapa specifically.

Mirroring the abilities of one of his earlier incarnations, Khedrub Je, a disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa and master of both sutra and tantra, the Panchen Lama used his compositional skill and poetic prowess to create a masterful sadhana. Worthy of note is a praise in which the first letter of each verse is a Tibetan vowel. Such compositions are rarely seen, and have historically only been used when propitiating senior Dharma protectors such as Palden Lhamo and Kalarupa.

The Panchen Lama also stated that while composing the Dorje Shugden sadhana (prayers) he was filled with a sense of happiness and bliss. He ends the composition with not only his official title but his ordination name, Tenzin Trinley Jigme Choje Wangchuk, endorsing the validity of his work. He composed the sadhana in his own Tashi Lhunpo monastery while in the Hall of Clear Light and Bliss.

“If the Dalai Lama, if His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by Dorje Shugden, then we might as well not practice Buddhism anymore. If His Holiness the Dalai Lama can have his life shortened by a so-called evil spirit, any evil spirit, then can he be Avalokiteshvara? So on one hand you say, we say, I say, everybody says, he is Avalokiteshvara; on the other hand you’re saying that he can be harmed by an evil spirit… Which one is it? Can he be harmed by an evil spirit or is he Avalokiteshvara? Do you think Avalokiteshvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Tara all take refuge in something else to protect themselves from Dorje Shugden? How illogical is that? How illogical of people to say His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by an evil spirit, any evil spirit or “Dorje Shugden” evil spirit. How is that possible?” – Tsem Tulku Rinpoche

How can a nun curse someone they do not even know and wish the person to die quickly and be born in hell? What kind of nun is this? Shocking! What more she’s cursing a Buddhist teacher and a monk?! Is this the face of Bhutanese Buddhist?

This is so shameful for her as a nun, her teacher, her monastery, her country and her King. A sangha should not behave in such a manner. A Sangha should carry enlightened Buddha’s teachings of compassion and wisdom to benefit all sentient beings.

A Sangha is not supposed to promote hatred and certainly should not be cursing or wishing another person to die. That wish itself is already breaking one of the vows.
A Sangha is one of the 3 Jewels, an object of refuge. They should not behave like an uncivilized person with so much hate. This is how bad the Tibetan Leadership has spread their lies and hate about Dorje Shugden and Shugden Buddhist practitioners.

A true democracy allows everyone the freedom to exercise their human rights, including the freedom to practise any religion they want. In democratic countries, the government does not interfere with this right. Neither are democratic governments prejudiced against their citizens’ choice of religious belief. They do not force people to stop their religious practice or pass legislation criminalising people because of their religion.

The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), the Tibetan leadership who are based in Dharamsala are the exception. They are the only so-called ‘democratic’ leadership that puts a stranglehold on its people, persecuting them for their religious beliefs. They deny the rights of Dorje Shugden practitioners for simply practicing their religion as they have done for the past 400 years. Dorje Shugden practitioners are ostracised from their own community, denied medical care, education or even employment in government offices. The CTA definitely does not live up to the right to be called a democratic administration, especially when in it inflicts suppression of people’s freedom and disrespects basic human rights.

After so many years of suffering in silence due to discrimination and oppression, it is really encouraging to read about the 1st. International Dorje Shugden Conference in the Reuters. The ban has resulted in untold hardships for many Shugdenpas. I am not Tibetan and live half a world away but am just as affected by this unethical and medieval ban. The online attacks I receive is nothing new. My Guru and my other Dharma siblings have also been cyberattacked maliciously. It’s 2018 and it is high time for a change. The ban has not in any way help the Tibetan cause as no one would back a government who oppresses its own citizen’s religious believes.

I feel inspired to see this gathering as this is a sign of courage and solidarity amongst the Shugdenpas who will not remain voiceless anymore. I am very happy to note that Kechara was part of this historical event. May the ban be lifted soon and let the healing begin.

    Dear Reuters,

Thank you for this publication of the article, “The International Buddhist Conference of Dorje Shugden Buddhists”. It is extremely heart warming to know that an international media as reputable as yours, would highlight something close to the hearts of Dorje Shugden practitioners. For years, Dorje Shugden practitioners have been demonized within their communities, denied their basic rights to health, education, freedom (to travel), and life. Dorje Shugden practitioners have been made as enemies of the state of the Tibetan Administration, and always accused as being Chinese pigs/dogs. Monasteries have been broken into and monks have been attacked, for holding strong to their faith. So this publication of yours gives much encouragement to us.

I was present at this conference. There was nothing but peaceful talks and exchange for how to better our lineage, how to grow our practice and continuation to propagate the doctrine of Lama Tsongkhapa, the founder of our lineage. It was a great and successful conference, where many friendships were forged, and old friends reunited. Dorje Shugden practitioners are often painted as barbaric, and violent people, and my own observation and experience throughout the years totally nullifies this.

Thank you Tsem Rinpoche, for your voice, your strength and your courage to highlight the discrimination dealt against Dorje Shugden practitioners for so many years. The Tibetan Administration denies this ban, but all the evidences have proved otherwise, and it is time to end this separation that has been encouraged, forced, promoted and advocated by the the Central Tibetan Administration!

It was an honour to be an attendee at this Dorje Shugden’s International Conference where the courageous warriors for human rights of religious freedom gathered. Thanks to our Guru, H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche that my awareness grew beyond the borders of my comfort zone as being in Malaysia, the effects of this illogical ban by the Tibetan Leaders on the 400 year old authentic Dorje Shugen practice had been minimal (abuses by cyber attackers who’s seemingly only job is to attack Dorje Shugden practitioners). It was only after attending this conference that it brought to reality the extent of the damages and harm by the Tibetan Leaders onto their own people. At the end of the conference, the 5 mins silence and prayers for those who perished due the persecutions by the Tibetan Leaders on innocents Dorje Shugden practitioners who loyally kept their practice due to Guru Devotion, that made me realised the gravity of situation. How could a fair democratic government that the Tibetan Leaders declared themselves to be, take lives on the basis of religious practice, especially when in this day and age, Religious Freedom is a right of every individual.
Thank you Reuters for sharing the news of this conference with the world and to bring to light the unjust that should not be. May the illogical ban on Lord Dorje Shugden, a symbol of repression on the rights of religious freedom, be the shame that the world will wake up to and stand up against. May the unity and courage of the International Dorje Shugden communities of practitioners bring down this ban which had caused so much sufferings, abuses, threats and even deaths.
Thank you Rinpoche for the courage in leading us to be true to our precious Guru and lineage practices which bring so much benefits and most of all, to care for others who have no voice to speak of their sufferance under the suppression of the Tibetan Leaders. In face of it all, to be respectful at all times. May the ban be swiftly lifted and practitioners be reunited in blessings of true spirituality.

Great news …… Reuters covered international Dorje Shugden conference 2018 at Kathmandu, Nepal, recently. Over hundreds of Dorje Shugden practitioner from 20 countries gathered to voice up regarding the ban and so to bring awareness of the practice which is not motivated by any political agendas. Which in fact has since benefited many more people on their spiritual paths to become better and more compassionate.
Because of the ban more than 20 years ago Dorje Shugden people had to break away from their monasteries, family torn apart, the unfairness , discrimination and so forth. Now with enough evidence showing that there is no religious freedom or true democracy , more are specking up of their sufferings.
Thank you Reuters , for covering these International Buddhist Conference of Dorje Shugden Practitioners giving inspiration to many practitioners worldwide.. With folded hands thank you Rinpoche for sharing this post. May the ban on Dorje Shugden will be lifted soon .

  20. Julia Tan on Mar 7, 2018 at 10:39 pm

Feel proud to see all Dorje Shugden practitioners especially those spiritual leaders and many sent their representatives to join the event not to show support but at the same time working together to protect and enforce the practice. We are preserving the Tsongkhapa lineage which is the main reason of Dorje Shugden arose. The ban is solely for political issue but huge damage have done due to this.

The idea of the ban is to split the Tibetan and to use this issue against China. It’s like self- immolate to protest against China so this Dorje Shugden ban is another trick to harm their own Tibetan to fight against China. Why keep on doing that? Along the way the damage is so huge but there’s no result against the enemy but still pushing to do so until the last breath, until the dharma is like a mess.

The Buddha Dharma is to liberate sentient beings from sufferings. I am grateful that all Dorje Shugden spiritual leaders now stand together and put their foot down to protect the Buddha Dharma so that more sentient beings will be benefited.

  21. Jacinta Goh on Mar 7, 2018 at 9:21 am

It’s been long overdue the restoration of peace and mend the hurts. What I can deduce from this conference is that Shugden followers do not questioning the past and all the whys anymore but rather they would like to move ahead, benefits more people and to practice in peace. Hence it will be more appropriate to stop all the remarks, hates, abusive actions be it through speech or physically threatening the Shugden followers and etc. Stop the nonsense whether through offline or online. Enough is enough!

Heartfelt gratitude for the organisers to organise this and nothing more rejoicing than seeing Kechara is being recognised as part of it.

Thank you Reuters for covering this International Conference of Dorje Shugden Buddhists. By highlighting the goals of peace, unity and harmony of this Conference, you are showcasing the prevailing sentiments and the spirit of Shugden practitioners everywhere as being those of peace and unity. This is even more crucial to stress now to show that Shugden practitioners have always wanted nothing but religious freedom -the freedom to practice Dorje Shugden, and their desire for peace and harmony has always prevailed. As the world’s focus is being directed toward the unjustified atrocities and violence against Shugden practitioners in the last 20 years, may the Tibetan Leadership respond with humanity by removing the ban and all forms of persecution of Shugden practitioners?

Every space for peace and reconciliation is being given by Shugden practitioners. For the sake of the preservation of the glorious Je Tsongkhapa and Gelug Lineage and for the sake of the future of Tibetan Buddhism, may the Tibetan leadership start working hand in hand with Shugden practitioners in a spirit of reconciliation to effect the peace and unity of Tibetans and Tibetan Buddhists.

    Rejoice on this good news.

The moment Reuters published the news about Dorje Shugden conference have shown that the understanding about Dorje Shugden issues have becoming more clear, where this religion is persecute due to political issues.

Reuters have once published about Dorje Shugden’s protest activities in a negative way. And now, it have report about this conference which to me is a good news that unofficially Reuters have admit that Dorje Shugden’s is a authentic religion that practices by Tibetan. And, the conference is international scale not as claimed by CTA that it is practice in small scale.

Truly appreciate that Reuters have reported on this conference.

This article by Reuters gives hope to Tibetans who practice Dorje Shugden, a practice they have held on loyally for generations within each Tibetan family. Dorje Shugden practitioners have been praying and hoping that the conflicts surrounding the practice will soon be over so that the healing for all divides may begin. May peace prevail over the segregation and hatred sown on Dorje Shugden practitioners around the world by the Tibetan leadership, the Central Tibetan Administration in Dharamsala, India.

Thank you Reuters for publishing this article.

In folklore, a ghost is the soul or spirit of a dead person appear to the living. Descriptions of ghosts vary widely that exist everywhere depending on the person who see it. Ghosts generally appearing for reasons. These could range from unsolved murders, forced suicides, preventable tragedies and so forth.
Reading this post has a better understanding of how to solve or rather handle such situation. I do believe ghost do exist after all. To me ,we respect and having compassion for all those unseen beings we so call it ghost. Learning Buddhism and putting into practice, we have the knowledge to deal them. Doing prayers and dedicate to them to relief their sufferings.

So touching reading article again. Lama Yeshe a rare attained being indeed giving inspiration to many , leaving a legacy . He was one of the most beloved Tibetan Buddhist masters of the late twentieth century. He was co-founded Kopan Monastery (1969) and the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (1975). He followed the Gelug tradition, and was considered unconventional in his teaching style. He is legendary pushes people’s buttons in his teaching similar to Tsem Rinpoche’s teachings . All the pushing is for the students to be better in life. We are indeed fortunate to have Rinpoche at Kechara Forest Retreat , Malaysia . Many of us have benefited from Rinpoche’s teachings .

Interesting read of Dr R Nyamaa ‘s biography. Dr R Nyamaa been the very first Mongolian woman doctor of bone tuberculosis. She is a multifaceted woman who works to empower herself and empower others. To be a doctor at those days is definitely brave and courageous. A great teacher having brought many changes to the medical world, introducing many new initiatives and practices in the field of training and treatment. She did published more than 60 articles in research reports, edited 4 manuals and 4 textbooks for students and doctors. She held several post and had received many rewards for her work in medical fields. She continued to serve at the First State Medical Centre till her retirement. Interesting read .

Before reading this post I used to think witches are women wearing black and pointed hats having evil or wicked magical powers. They practice and believes to have supernatural skills and abilities such as the casting of spells. Interesting read of this post very informative indeed. I understand better now the role of witches and they have nothing to do with worshipping something negative. Many people have a lot of misconception regarding witches in fact. Through history and long ago they have been prejudiced but not now many came to realise they deserve understanding and respect. Clear and detail explanation watching those videos.

The lady in red is all about stories of what happened to the two robbers arriving at doorstep of an old but regal inn named Redgrave Inn. Tragedy then befallen on one of the robbers Gareth. As they were checking in the attic for the night they saw a painting of a lady in a red gown feeling sad. Having misunderstandings the other robber Joseph left. Strange indeed Gareth went missing nowhere to be seen. Months later Joseph still could not make sense of what really happened went back to get the whole history of this strange lady in red. Interesting the paintings which Joseph saw now the lady in red is with his friend Gareth . Recording to the former owner then there’s many strange things had happened at Redgrave Inn before Gareth’s disappearance. Sound scary but interesting read .

Beautiful and inspiring story which will touch the hearts of many . Been growing up in a family who against Tem Rinpoche for practicing Dharma is really hard and difficult one could imagined. How Rinpoche had the determination and will power to over come those obstacles he endured . Choosing his family and choosing Dharma , Rinpoche choose the later. Nor matter what happened Rinpoche somehow managed to practice Dharma under H E Kensur Rinpoche Lobsang Tharchin his first Dharma teacher. It was because of Kensur Rinpoche that Rinpoche stayed with Geshe-la, studied under him before going to India to become a monk. Not only that later meeting root guru H H Kyabje Zong Rinpoche.
After years visiting Rashi Gempil Ling, the temple of Rinpoche’s childhood again and not been able to enter to temple Rinpoche offered prayers and three prostrations on the sidewalk remembering his guru’s kindnesses. Bittersweet moment Rinpoche felt not able to visit the temple again .

The three values of Olympism are excellence, friendship and respect. About coming together in the spirit of sportsmanship, the competition between countries from all over world. It wasn’t just the athletic ability, it was their moral courage competing in the Olympics as a once in a lifetime opportunity for them.
Olympic hurdler, Liu Xiang from China a sporting idol had won after China’s first ever male track and field Olympic gold medal. In the last Olympics due his recurring injury had forced not able to perform well. Despite crashing on the first hurdle he continued with much pain hopped onto the track, kissed his final hurdle before he made it to the finishing line. An animal testing is known as testing of live animal in any scientific experiment. A live animal is likely to suffer pain, distress and lasting harm in the procedure . Animals used in laboratories are deliberately harmed, and are usually killed at the end of the experiment. It is cruel and inhumane to experiment on animals, that alternative methods available to researchers can replace animal . I am sure there are other methods as now the world is so advance in their technology. Animals should not be used in research or to test the safety of products. Thankfully, the development of non-animal methods is growing, and fast. Due to innovations in science, animal tests are being replaced in areas such as toxicity testing, neuroscience and drug development.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing to bring awareness of these animals testing which should be banned.

All suffering is in fact the result or fruit of negative emotions such as attachment, greed, jealously, pride, anger, and hatred. The five afflictive emotions are the source of suffering. Pride leads to unhappiness in long run. Letting go of these instead of clinging on to it will lead us to nowhere. A profound teachings …….as quoted The letting go is from clinging on to the afflictive emotions, the anger, jealousy, feelings of unjust treatment, which all stems from our self-cherishing mind. Remembered the kindness the Guru has shown us and what we will never give up nor matter what happened. I am still plenty to learn.

Heard stories from senior students of Rinpoche about assignment that had changed their lives. Reading this post tells us more through the eyes of Joy Kam. Some understandings learned from it. The little assignments which many have taken it for granted actually helps to change our karmic situation. Rinpoche wanted us to realize later on but not now from a particular assignment. What Rinpoche did there is always a reason behind it which many might not understand till later on. Rinpoche knows best, always cares for everyone and help us to improve, grow in our spiritual path. And also helped us to purify certain karma . Interesting read

Butter tea is a traditional Tibetan drink and it is severed in all household has become a necessity. There are many benefits drinking butter tea such as at high altitudes , boost immunity and energy ,an appetite suppressant and so forth.
The goal of any spiritual person is to strive towards attaining self-realization. We should be free from anxiety and distress, unencumbered by frivolous affections, and liberated from specious attachments. Nothing in life is permanent. Keeping our commitments, and always engaged in Dharma activities. Once we dominate ourselves through consciousness, the attachments disappear. Attachment comes from the accumulated past. The things we are attached to are no more than shadows of the past. The story of the Geshe indeed an inspiration and example for us .
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor David for this beautiful post.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer

Underprivileged residents of two PPRs in Kuala Lumpur recently received a total of 427kg from our longterm surplus produce sponsor, Lotuss Stores (formerly Tesco Stores). The 65 families are our regular beneficiaries, and are grateful to receive fresh vegetables on a consistent basis right at their doorstep. One of our recipients, Rajeswari, 52, single mother of 2 children, shared that she stopped receiving welfare aid due to unforeseen circumstances. Her words: "Saya cakap untuk Kechara [Soup Kitchen] banyak terima kasih sebab kasi makanan. Dan lebih mau tolong orang lain yang susah seperti saya". #kecharafoodbank: In collaboration with Good Shepherd Services (GSS) based in Ipoh, we travelled to Buntong with food rations for 33 families. Some of the food items given include rice, noodles, cooking oil and biscuits; in total, we gave 726kg of food to these beneficiaries from the underprivileged class. We are glad to have been able to contribute, especially to families with children and in poor living conditions. We wish to thank GSS for alerting us about those in need, and we look forward to extending more support in the future together with this not-for-profit organization doing good work. - Vivian @ Kechara Soup Kitchen

In an urgent effort to provide food and necessities to the poverty-stricken in Bentong and rural areas of Pahang, we are launching Food Bank Bentong. With your support, Food Bank Bentong would be able to feed 500 families totaling 2,300 people on a regular basis, giving them a chance to enjoy a basic sense of security we consider a human right. - Vivian @ Kechara Soup Kitchen

The global pandemic hasn't been easy for all of us. Some find it diffucult to find a job to support the family. Despite that, we are still delivering basic food pack to our recipients nationwide. Thank you to our volunteers, donors, and sponsors. Without your support, we would be unable to reach out to many families. Vivian @ Kechara Soup Kitchen

Thanks to the effort of our outstation team, we were able to mobilise food provisions to 600 families living in Kelantan, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor during the Raya period with each of these families receiving RM200 worth of provisions. Adding onto the current 368 families in Klang Valley, a total of 968 families were benefitted from this. More photos taken from our "Hari Raya Hampers" distribution this week. Making sure everyone of our clients have something to be cheerful about. Apart from food, daily used items such as hygiene products, kitchen utensils, assorted fabric items, stationary items and toys were also included into our hamper bags making it extra heavier this month! Food items alone were about 35kg per family! Taking this opportunity to wish everyone of our Muslim volunteers, friends, supporters and clients a Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Maaf Zahir Batin. No doubt this year's celebration will be very different but appreciate everyone is safe and protected from the pandemic. We are in this together and let's work to fight this pandemic together! Thanking all sponsors and donors for the generous support enabling us to continue serve the needy with food, love and care.
