Thank You For The Positivity

Since Rinpoche began speaking about the Dorje Shugden practice in public, there have been detractors and critics who have directed insults, vulgarities and violent remarks towards Rinpoche.

Encouragingly however, there have also been many positive comments and messages of support for Rinpoche. We, as Rinpoche’s students, have collected them here, to give encouragement and inspiration to everyone who continues to receive verbal and physical abuse for their practice and beliefs. We rejoice in people’s ability to look at the facts and evidence, and decide for themselves if Dorje Shugden is good or not.

It is sad that even in the 21st century, people continue to be persecuted and discriminated against for their beliefs. Today, people around the world generally have more freedoms compared to any other point in history. Yet, in the case of Shugden practitioners, many receive threats of harm, violence and even death due to the religious choices they make.

Those who are against Dorje Shugden claim that Shugden practitioners have the religious freedom to worship whoever we want but that is definitely not the case. It is NOT religious freedom when there are violent and vulgar consequences to our beliefs. It is NOT religious freedom when hate groups are set up specifically targeting our practice and nothing is done to stop them or shut them down. And it is definitely NOT religious freedom when the leadership and those in power do nothing to discourage all the violence and threats that are directed at Shugden practitioners on a daily basis.

Just by reading the comments below, it is very clear to see that when people do not get swept away by the controversies surrounding Dorje Shugden’s practice, and they propitiate Dorje Shugden as he should be (i.e. a World Peace Protector), they receive immense benefits in their secular and spiritual lives. So when people continue to abuse, demonise and ostracise Shugden practitioners for their beliefs, they make it harder and harder for those who are suffering to access his help.

Thus we humbly and respectfully request His Holiness the Dalai Lama to end the ban on Shugden which is causing much difficulty, pain, suffering and division amongst Buddhist practitioners all over the world. In your compassion, please put an end to the persecution of Shugden practitioners who are only upholding their commitments and practices to their teachers and trying to follow the Buddhadharma as best they can.

Dearest Tsem,

I write with horror at the abuse hurled at you and all those who regard Wisdom Buddha Dorje Shugden as their Dharma Protector. During the middle of last year, I tried for many days to patiently reason with some of these professed supporters of the Dalai Lama but instead they returned nasty, evil comments, calling me a ‘drug abuser’ etc. They clearly looked at my Facebook site and previous photos of me where I don’t look great. I will freely admit, I have had problems with drugs in the past and I still struggle but I am currently almost completely free from any intoxicant or medication, largely thanks to my faith in my Spiritual Guide and the help and support of deities such as Dorje Shugden. I know from personal experience he only increases my love, compassion, wisdom and other good qualities (14 years practice) and helps me reduce my delusions. I wanted to thank you for joining the increasing number of Lamas, Geshes and other esteemed practitioners who are now being open about their Dorje Shugden practice. It takes great courage to put up with the kind of abuse and treatment they receive.

I recently visited Shar Garden in Mundgod, circumnambulated the stupas of Trijang and Song Rinpoche stupas across the road, and then saw one of the posters. Before I could get really angry, two of the monks from the ‘other side’ gave me very broad, knowing smiles. It was then I realised quite how many monks must be secretly practising. I would imagine 1000’s. It reminded me of a visit to Manali, North India, when I had to smuggle a Dorje Shugden Thangkha out of a Gompa, given to me by a monk who sadly professed it was of no use to him anymore because of the atmosphere of hate. This was 10 years ago. But I knew he would always keep Dorje Shugden in his heart and that he had a strong relationship with Setrap, who he saw as very close to Shugden, perhaps even the same nature.

Anyway, enough of my rambles. Thanks again from my heart for your courage. Please maintain it! And ignore the awful remarks, they simply come from the delusions within deluded minds, our only enemies. Also, thank you for your teaching. The main one that inspired me was on Vajrasattva practice, and straight after reading your teaching I went straight into the practice. Wonderful! I myself know I am not strong enough to play an active role in this fight for religious freedom and a unified Tibetan community, but am always behind the seems, hoping, praying, and ready to help when the time comes.

With many prayers and blessings,
– A

The comment above reads:

Thank you for your courageous decision to openly worship Gyalchen Dorje Shugden. I hope that you will remain safe and can continue spreading Je Tsongkhapas doctrine for a long time.

Vajra

It is sad that Rinpoche’s practice of Dorje Shugden is considered courageous when, in this day and age, what we choose to believe in and practice should not be a matter of bravery. It is an automatic right given to us by any laws that protect religious freedoms of whatever country we are living in.

The nice comment above (and typed out below) was left on Rinpoche’s video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxC6uKHM3dY). Please take the time to read this personal sharing by Dorje Drakpa who explains how Dorje Shugden helped his father, why he does not bear any animosity towards those who enforce the ban and how Rinpoche’s teaching has inspired him.

Thank you for this awesome logic talk. I have listen to some many talk about Dharmapala Dorje shugden …. both against and For Dorje shugden. And I must complement your talk has been the best …. both in logic and intention. I am a Tibetan reciting in NYC and was fortunate to have met Kyabje Zong Rinpoche. I have first hand experience about Dharmapala Dorjeshugden and my experience tells me that Dorjeshugden is enlighten being. How? My father was ex-monk from sera monastery. Toward the end of his life he suffered from Pulmonary Tuberculosis and his body totally wasted. At that time their was no good remedy for the disease. He could not even get up from bed but everyday he deed his puja … Lama cheopa and Neljorma. My mom knowing the end was near requested Dorjeshugden medium Kuten Lama to visit our home. Kuten Lama immediately came to our house. Haphazardly neighbor Constructed small elevated seat upon which Kuten Lama and went to trance. For almost whole one hour Dharmapala Dorje Shugden gave teaching from Lamrim and give his blessing. Soon after My loving Father passed away peacefully while reciting his daily puja with Pecha on his chest. My father was bed ridden for almost three year but he was never on pain. Every day he deed his puja. How can enlighten being such as Trichang Rinpoche and Zong Rinpoche can teach other to rely on Dharma protector who is evil spirit ? That doesn’t make any sense even to my small mind. Today due to this controversy there is huge separation among Tibetan community which is growing deeper and deeper. If the intension of Tibetan leadership is to fragment the Tibetan community they are succeeding! I never went to protest against HHDL even though I live in NYC… When ever HHDL comes to NYC I want to see and hear from him. SO even though I want to – I don’t go to see him , out of sheer respect for his wishes . If he ever say Dorjeshugden people can come to his teaching I will go happily. Tibetan cause is to dear to me as it is dear to any Tibetan. I pay my green book donation without failure and go to protest against Chinese unlawful occupation of Tibet as all the Tibetan does. We rely on Dharmapla Dorje shugden so as to make progress with less obstructed path towards spiritual attainment. Not because we want to harm other or gain wealth. This controversy must stop if we as a race truly belief in secularism. Thank you Tsem Rinpoche for genuine effort to bring peace within Tibetan community. ཐུགས་རྗེ་ཆེ།།

continue – For almost one hour Dharmapala Dorje shugden give teaching from Lamrim, talk about Impermanence , about Cause and effect ( karma ) and advice my father to practice ” TONGLEN” and make his suffering worthwhile. After few days my father passed away peacefully after doing his daily puja – with his PECHA on his chest. If Dorje shugden is evil spirit would he Dharma teaching from LAMRIM ? This has to stop if we as a “NATION” truly belief in secularism. CHURCH and STATE has to be separate. ཐུགས་རྗེ་ཆེ།།

I would like thank you for helping me with the issue of Dorja shugden as I was really troubled as to what to do in regards to the practice I have been studying on my own for many years and have recently joined the New Kadampa tradition at which time I heard about this controversy for the first time and am Quite taken back by all the name calling and smear tactics but your talk on your Views on Dorja Sugden, the Dalai Lama and request and offering to them helped me feel much more secure in my own practice at the same time extend an apology to you as before watching this talk I was totally mistaken in my view of your teaching by all the Dorja Sugden posts from your sight I placed you in the same light as all the protesters and for this I am deeply sorry I can now say I am a Dorja Shugden Practitioner with out compromising my own views as they a line perfectly to what I have just listened to you teach thank you and may many blessings be bestowed upon you.

We received this really positive comment a few days ago about H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche’s recent series of video teachings. Watch the videos here (https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/?p=65988) and see for yourself what about Rinpoche’s videos inspired this person.

The comment above reads:

I consider myself a student of Holy Kalu Rinpoche (although he has no reason to consider me as such), and when I took refuge many years ago I was told that I should study with a lama. I replied that the only lama near where I lived was a Gelugpa lama and I was told that’s OK, that’s good. So I had the immense good fortune of spending time with and studying with the very wonderful, generous and venerable Geshe Khenrab Gajam. Geshe-la had many students and he and some of his students did the Dorje Shugden practise. Some did not. It didn’t seem to be an issue. Geshe-la sometimes taught at a local Kagyupa centre and Kalu Rinpoche taught at Geshe-la’s centre, as did many illustrious Gelugpa lamas and Rinpoches. We had the good fortune of having Geshe-la with us for over three decades and I don’t remember there ever being any problem with the practice of this most extraordinary Dharma Protector until very late in Geshe-la’s life and also after Geshe-la’s passing the practice was continued, and then it seemed to become an “issue” with some people.

I can say that I’ve never found the teachings of the many lamas who practised this this Dharma Protector were ever sectarian or in any way in conflict with any other Dharma teachings that my minute experience has encountered.

Rinpoche, thank you for being so clear in your plea for harmony and understanding.

I’ve been a studying and practicing in the Gelugpa Tradition since 1995 & am a close student of the Very Ven. Zasep Rinpoche here in Canada 🇨🇦. I have been a DS practitioner since my start in the BuddhaDharma and even though H.H. Dalai Lama is one of my Gurus, like H.E. Tsem Rinpoche, I have never given up my practice nor broken my Samaya with any of my Lamas.

H.E. Tsem Rinpoche is a huge inspiration to me – his spiritual and moral example is impeccable- and he is truly a Lama worthy of the Blessed unbroken Oral Ganden Lineage.

You are all so so fortunate to have him as your Lama,

May we all be worthy of his presence in this world 🌎🙏🏻☺

Best of Dharma,

Yours in the Dharma,
M 🙏🏻🌞

Dear S,

It is truly refreshing, beautiful and kind of you to leave your comment filled with wisdom and understanding. May I humbly say you are a true Christian because you are forgiving, tolerant and accepting. These are signs of a true spiritual practitioner. Our true faith in our saviour is reflected by how we treat every sentient being who has the spark of the divine in them. We must be kind to even those who are not kind to us for in showing them compassion eventually we may help them. We forgive them. I do in my humble way forgive those who are so angry and leave unkind comments. I wish children will not be affected by such comments. I pray for them.

In our Buddhist traditions, people often bicker about which representation of the divine is the true one and sometimes people really get out of hand in this. To defend their view of what is divine, they sometimes become ‘undivine’ in their words and expressions. I choose to forgive them. As it is taught by the Buddha which is to explain to the person their actions which are harmful and not blame the person.

As a person of any faith, the most important qualities we need to develop are love, compassion, tolerance and acceptance. Because in the end, it is not always what we pray to, but how we have lived our prayers in our lives.

I wish you well. I wish you peace and I thank you for sharing your wisdom.

Tsem Rinpoche

This is heart-warming to see these nice messages for Rinpoche. When Rinpoche announced that he was a Dorje Shugden practitioner, many people posted rude and insulting messages on Rinpoche’s social media accounts.

It is ok to have a different opinion or different choices in life, we must respect that. It is what the Buddha has taught as well. Many of the insulting comments for Rinpoche were written by so-called Buddhists, this is very disappointing.

Rinpoche had shown us what patience, compassion and kindness are. He used his whole life to give the Dharma to everyone without wanting anything in return. His teachings are no different from what the Buddha had taught. Even though there are many people who attacked Rinpoche verbally, Rinpoche was not discouraged, he continued to share the Dharma with us.

    Dear friends,

Tibet has produced many powerful meditations, rituals and guidelines to help us gain spiritual protection, gain wisdom and higher states of consciousness. In general Tibet has produced many powerful methods for the growth of our spiritual evolution. Dorje Shugden is an angel, a saint, a powerful spiritual protector-warrior who originated 350 years ago when a highly awakened Tibetan Lama fulfilled his vows to become a special being to grant protection, wisdom, material needs, safety when travelling (normal and astral travel) and spiritual awakening. Both the Great 5th Dalai Lama and the current His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama composed short yet effective prayers to invoke upon the power and blessings of this special saint and protector. One can recite either one of the prayers that you feel suits you, anytime or even daily. When you feel a special need for help, you can recite either prayer anytime. When you are feeling down, afraid or just need a blessing, you can recite them. After reciting either invocation, it is good to chant the mantra of Dorje Shugden: Om Benza Wiki Bitana Soha.

You do not have to be a Buddhist or practitioner of any religion to invoke upon the blessings and protection of this special enlightened and awakened angel Dorje Shugden. He helps all without discrimination or bias as he is filled with compassion and love. Divinity has no boundaries, they help all who call upon them.

Enclosed are the prayers in English, Chinese and Tibetan.

May you be safe, protected and blessed.

Divination (‘mo’) Text by Dorje Shugden

This is an important divination (‘mo’) text composed by Dorje Shugden himself. Dorje Shugden took trance of the Choyang Dulzin oracle lama, the senior oracle of Gaden Shartse Monastery, and instantly on the spot composed this text within two hours.

The divination text contains information on how to use dice to do divination for the future and is known to be highly accurate. When practitioners use this text, they will be in direct contact with Dorje Shugden to get answers to questions about the future. It is for those who have good samaya with Dorje Shugden and are free of the eight worldly dharmas to be of benefit to others in divining the future.

When the Tibetans or Tibetan Buddhists know you are a Dorje Shugden practitioner, they will see you negatively. The first thing comes to their mind is that you are worshipping a demon, then the next thing is you are against the Dalai Lama. They will keep their distance away from you and start calling you names such as Chinese dog or CCP puppet.

After Tsem Rinpoche made it known that he is a Dorje Shugden practitioner and being very outspoken on the Dorje Shugden ban, many people come to his Facebook page to make negative comments. Some of them use vulgar words, some of them call Rinpoche with very degrading terms. Some even threaten to kill Tsem Rinpoche!

No matter how much insults Tsem Rinpoche has received, he is still very firm in his choice and his promise to his Guru, this is very inspiring. Tsem Rinpoche has benefited many with his blog and YouTube videos. Look at all these good comments, it is very heart-warming, there are still people who appreciate Tsem Rinpoche’s hard work. I wish Tsem Rinpoche good health and live long to continue to turn the wheel of Dharma.

His Holiness the 10th Panchen Lama

Tibetans commonly refer to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama as the “sun and moon” of Tibetan Buddhism. They are the center of Tibetan Buddhist civilization, which draws to its sphere of influence millions of non-Tibetan practitioners. The Panchen Lama’s incarnation line began with the 16th abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen (1570 – 1662). He was bestowed the title of Panchen Lama by His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama after being declared as an emanation of Amitabha.

After being given the title, his three previous incarnations were posthumously also bestowed the title, making Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen the 4th Panchen Lama. He became a teacher to many Tibetans, Bhutanese and Mongolian religious figures, including His Holiness the 4th and 5th Dalai Lamas, and the 1st Jetsun Dampa of Mongolia. A prolific author, Chokyi Gyeltsen is credited with over a hundred compositions, including a number of commentaries and ritual texts that remain central in the Gelukpa tradition today. Along with his role as a teacher of the Dharma, the Panchen Lamas are usually responsible for the recognition of the rebirths of the Dalai Lamas, and vice versa.

The 10th Panchen Lama, Lobsang Trinley Lhundrub Chokyi Gyeltsen (19 February 1938 – 28 January 1989) continued both the spiritual and political roles of his predecessors. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, his contemporary, was even heard to say and echo the Panchen Lama’s own words that the Dalai Lama would safeguard Tibet from the outside while the Panchen Lama would safeguard Tibet from the inside, as he never left Tibet after the political troubles of 1959. He was truly loved by the Tibetans, all the way until his passing. When he taught, thousands of people would attend, not only from his own Gelug lineage, but masters and practitioners from all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.

At his sprawling monastery of Tashi Lhunpo, he has a special chapel specifically dedicated to Dorje Shugden, where prayers and rituals are performed on a daily basis. In his great omniscience the Panchen Lama held Dorje Shugden as the principal Dharma protector of the monastery. He also personally propitiated Dorje Shugden among other Dharma protectors, and even wrote extensive prayers and rituals to Dorje Shugden. These rituals and prayers are contained within his ‘sung bum’ or collected works, which are provided here. As such a great lama, with an erudite and clear understanding of the Buddhist scriptures, a teacher to millions in both Tibet and China, from an established incarnation line and an emanation of the Buddha Amitabha, he could not be mistaken about his practice of Dorje Shugden.

His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama is known for his composition of commentaries and practice texts that are still in use by contemporary Buddhist practitioners both in Tibet and across the world. One of these is a powerful ritual composition propitiating the compassionate Dorje Shugden.

Upon the request by Acharya Lobsang Jangchub to compose a shorter version of the prayer (sadhana) for the exhortation of activities of Dorje Shugden, Panchen Lama immediately composed an abbreviate form of Dorje Shugden’s Kangsol. This text is entitled “Manjunatha’s (Tsongkapa) Lineage protector Dorje Shugden and five forms wrathful propitiations and confessional prayers and fulfilment of activities rites” or “Melodious sound of Accomplishment of the Four Activities” for short. Once the prayers were completed, he had signs and strong feelings that Dorje Shugden has been working hard to protect the Buddhadharma in general and the lineage of Lama Tsongkhapa specifically.

Mirroring the abilities of one of his earlier incarnations, Khedrub Je, a disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa and master of both sutra and tantra, the Panchen Lama used his compositional skill and poetic prowess to create a masterful sadhana. Worthy of note is a praise in which the first letter of each verse is a Tibetan vowel. Such compositions are rarely seen, and have historically only been used when propitiating senior Dharma protectors such as Palden Lhamo and Kalarupa.

The Panchen Lama also stated that while composing the Dorje Shugden sadhana (prayers) he was filled with a sense of happiness and bliss. He ends the composition with not only his official title but his ordination name, Tenzin Trinley Jigme Choje Wangchuk, endorsing the validity of his work. He composed the sadhana in his own Tashi Lhunpo monastery while in the Hall of Clear Light and Bliss.

For the first time available, Dorje Shugden and his entourage of 32 asssistants of his mandala.

Dorje Shugden is a powerful protector deity who is also an emanation of Manjushri, a wisdom bestowing Buddha. Therefore, he has great ability to help us to progress further on the spiritual path. He does this by helping us to overcome obstacles and problems for the modern individual.

Due to his enlightened nature, Dorje Shugden is able to manifest 32 deities and within the same abode resides Setrap and Kache Marpo:-

    1. 5 Dorje Shugden families or emanations. They consists of the following:-

    – Dulzin Dorje Shugden, which performs activities to eliminate inner and outer obstacles.
    – Shize, which performs activities to pacify all illnesses and disease.
    – Gyenze, which performs activities to increase all desirable material and spiritual wealth.
    – Wangze, which performs activities to control difficult people and circumstances.
    – Trakze, which performs activities to wrathfully eliminate all insurmountable obstacles and life-threatening situations.

    2. 9 Mothers. They represent protection of the five senses and developing control of the four elements. These are all attributes that signify their ability to assist tantric practitioners with their higher meditations.

    3. 8 Guiding Monks. They represent the Eight Great Bodhisattvas (Avalokitesvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Samantabhadra, Maitreya, Kshitigarbha, Akashagarbha, Sarva-nivarana-viskambini) and they bring about the growth of the Dharma, through the Sangha, Dharma practitioners and Dharma establishments.

    4. 10 Youthful & Wrathful Attendants. They represent the ten wrathful attendants to avert inner and outer obstacles. They are beings who are from Mongolia, China, Kashmir, India, Bengali, etc.

    5. Setrap. He is a senior Dharma Protector from India and an emanation of Amitabha Buddha. He had enthroned Dorje Shugden as an authentic Dharma Protector. Therefore, he also resides within the same mandala of Dorje Shugden.

    6. Kache Marpo. He is not an emanation of Dorje Shugden but he is still an enlightened Dharma Protector in his own right. He was originally known as Tsiu Marpo of Samye Monastery. However, he has placed himself under the service of Dorje Shugden as his chief minister, performing many activities in order to protect and benefit practitioners. Therefore, he stands guard at the main entrance of Dorje Shugden’s mandala. He often takes trance of qualified mediums to speak.

    7. Namkar Barzin. He is the reincarnation of an old Mongolian monk and when he passed away in Phari area of Tibet, his spirit was placed as a powerful assistant of Dorje Shugden. He guards and protects buildings and great institutions especially those that benefit others. He rides on a mythical Gyaling animal that resembles a goat but with scales.

These sacred images are available on *Vajrasecrets. They are made of high quality alloy and are one of a kind. They are based on the lineage of His Holiness Panchen Rinpoche’s monastery, Tashilhunpo in Shigatse, Tibet. In fact, the iconography of these statues are based on detailed photographs taken by H. E. Tsem Rinpoche during a trip to Tashilhunpo’s protector chapel. These are based exactly as the 10th Panchen Lama’s personal collection.

Rejoice to the people who are able to look into the facts and evidence, and decide for themselves if Dorje Shugden is good or bad. Your positive and logical comments give much hopes and encouragement to those who are suffering without voice. We should voice out peacefully so that more people aware of these unethical and unlawful Dorje Shugden ban implemented by the Tibetan Leadership. We are all human and we should respect and accept each other faith or beliefs.

Very heartwarming to read all the positive impact that Rinpoche has on so many people. Every attack /abuse on Dorje Shugden or Rinpoche, results in a subsequent response/teaching filled with Wisdom and Compassion from Rinpoche. That’s how my simple mind sees it. In other words Rinpoche will use every opportunity (good/bad) to teach us the Dharma. Rinpoche takes on the abuses and transforms it into a teaching to benefit us; using the circumstances as life examples on how one should practice the Buddha’s teachings on being patient, being generous, maintaining ethics, inculcate discipline and concentration and applying the Wisdom of the truth.
Rinpoche will give us all the Buddha’s teachings in a form that we can absorb and learn. Rinpoche will do this consistently, skilfully amidst the abuses, just to benefit many. What then do we do with all that Rinpoche has generously given us ? Never forsake this precious opportunity to receive teachings from Rinpoche in this lifetime. Instead use the teachings to transform to be a better person to benefit many.
With folded hands and forever grateful to my Guru .

The ban has caused much division and difficulties for Dorje Shugden people. However many practitioners have gotten much clarity and understanding about the nature of Dorje Shugden and what Dorje Shugden means to them, it has helped so many more people who genuinely rely on Dorje Shugden.

I personally feel that Rinpoche’s blog had clarified many doubts about Dorje Shugden and his enlightened status. very grateful to the writers and Rinpoche for having this blog that gives the dharma, so many know that Dorje Shugden is Manjushri and is all about benefitting sentient beings.

Since 1996, Dorje Shugden practice been banned by Dalai Lama. This leads to many disputes, disharmony and finally end up with schism to Tibetan.
From the above comments, we can see that many people benefitted from Dorje Shugden practice and no doubt Dorje Shugden is emanation of Manjushri.
The one of the basic human right is religious freedom and people is allow to choose their own religion without any suppress from government.
I wish H.H Dalai Lama lift Dorje Shugden ban soon in order to restore the religious freedom in Tibet.

Thank you Rinpoche and team working tirelessly to benefits other.

All the above positive comments and true concerns warms our hearts and mind.

Our Rinpoche is so very kind, being a highly attained Lama and Bodhisattva, He has certainly put His very life on the line. For what? So that the truth prevails and other benefit. That is all.

How many of us can emulate H.E. in risking so much – to benefit others and above all so that the Dharma flourishes and all the needless suffering of schism, hatred, name calling, segregation, etc. should and must stop.

I am very deeply touched by all these positive comments and I certainly wish my Lama to have long life, continue to bring the Dharma to us and may all of us be connected with him again in our next life.

    Humbly yours

Thank you Admin for sharing this post. It is nice to see the comments from people from all over the world where their lives have changed for the better with the help of our Dearest Guru, Tsem Rinpoche and also Dorje Shugden. I myself personally is very thankful to my Dearest Guru to be able to meet him in this life and be in Rinpoche’s mandala is a lot of blessings. Not only have I benefited from it, even my family members have benefited from it too. Dorje Shugden practice has also benefited me many many times. Just before I read this article, I was having some difficulty in my work whereby one of the worksheet was missing. I panic a while but I was chanting Dorje Shugden’s mantra. After a while, I found the worksheet which was being drag all the way the very far end. I pray the ban may be lifted soon. May my Guru have long live, good health and clearance of obstacles. May Kechara and it’s departments continue to grow and benefit more people.

It takes a lot of faith and understanding to come out a acknowledge publicly that one is a Dorje Shugden practitioner. It is akin to coming out as a gay 50 years back. there would be so much anger, anguish and misunderstandings not to even mention the persecution and bullying that came with it.

So, this is just another pioneering step for those of the faith to publicly acknowledge and to lend support to fellow practitioners.

  21. Lew on Mar 11, 2017 at 7:03 pm

If you have practiced Dorje Shugden and has benefitted from His practice, please go to Tsem Rinpoche’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TsemTulkuRinpoche/ to give some support. This is not so much of giving Rinpoche support, but to give support to fellow practitioners that we are not alone. We have received nasty words & vulgarities everyday and it would be nice to receive some nice words too. After all, we are not Bodhisattva.

On the other hand, if you don’t agree with the harassments and discrimination of people who hurl nasty words towards Dorje Shugden practitioners, you can send us some nice words too.

I wish everyone gain attainments in their spiritual journey.

This is an interesting and uncommon view of why His Holiness the Dalai Lama imposed the Dorje Shugden ban. It is heartwarming to read positive comments and feedbacks here. Thank you to everyone who voiced out, so that the haters do not rule the world. The only way to counter negativity is through love and acceptance. We balance negativity by having more positivity. May more positive pour in! There are already many sufferings and pains without the unwarranted hatreds, discriminations, and threats from haters who blatantly ignore human rights and religious freedom. We must voice out peacefully!

Thank you very much admin and blog team who made all these messages available to the public. It is wonderful to see people comment on Dorje Shugden practice and the ban. Keeping silence does not help the cause. This way, many people who have doubts and when they see so many positive and logical comments, their doubts lessen and faith grew stronger. I hope everyone will keep up and continue to bring more positivities in. Especially now with the latest videos on “Tibetan leadership’s new anti-Shugden video” with the motivation by Martin Chow and Kechara team, I am confident that it will bring awareness to more people about the CTA manipulating the Dorje Shugden ban and get the ban lifted as soon as possible. Trode Khangsar Chapel in Lhasa, Tibet

Over 400 years ago a great and learned lama Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was famed in Mongolia, Tibet, Nepal and China for being very saintly and compassionate. He resided in his residence (Zimkhang Gongma Ladrang) in Drepung Monastery. His root guru was H.H. the Omniscient 4th Panchen Lama and his close dharma brother was the 5th Dalai Lama.

The 5th Dalai Lama and Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen had a very close and dharmic relationship and often went to receive teachings together from the 4th Panchen Lama. They were close in age. They both became very learned and well known. During this time, the Dalai Lama was enthroned as a Dharma King of Tibet. But more people went to see Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen for teachings, initiations and divinations. This made the attendants of the 5th Dalai Lama feel threatened that Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s fame might usurp the power of the 5th Dalai Lama. So they had a khata forced down his throat. At that moment, Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen dissolved his psychic winds and generated the wish to be a great guardian of Buddha and Tsongkapa’s teachings. As his consciousness dissolved, he entered ‘bardo’ as a dharma protector of the highest order (jikten depey sungma). Many signs were seen throughout Lhasa at this time and the earth was said to have shaken in Lhasa. This event was already predicted to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s previous incarnation when he was one of the 8 main disciples of Lord Tsongkapa the Supreme Master and he served Tsongkapa directly by building Gaden Monastery.

When the 5th Dalai Lama heard what his scheming and power-hungry attendants had done, he was very distressed. He was very sorry Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was murdered and dishonored as he was a great dharma master. The 5th Dalai Lama composed an apology to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen. In Lhasa, tens of thousands gathered for the cremation of Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s holy body. During the cremation, the 5th Dalai Lama’s apology was read out at which flames spontaneously arose from the body of Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen commencing the cremation. From the body, during cremation, a powerful whirlwind of smoke tunneled into the sky for all to see as this was an indication Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s consciousness has arisen as the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. The Dharma Protector Setrap immediately recognized this new protector Dorje Shugden and ‘enthroned’ him as a powerful Dharma Protector in the realm of the Buddhas. From this, Setrap and Dorje Shugden are closely connected and very close working hand in hand always. After the cremation, the great 5th Dalai Lama built a Dorje Shugden chapel on the spot the cremation took place and named it Trode Khangsar. The 5th Dalai Lama commissioned the statue of Dorje Shugden in this chapel and had monks installed in the chapel to do continuous propitiations to Dorje Shugden. Trode Khangsar Chapel was a commemoration to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen who was wronged and also a celebration of his consciousness arising as the World Peace Peace Protector Dorje Shugden.

This Trode Khangsar Chapel still exists now in Lhasa where many make pilgrimages there. It is in good condition and was recently renovated. It is over 400 years old and a testimony to the respect the Great 5th Dalai Lama had to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen who arose as Dorje Shugden.

I have visited this holy chapel in Lhasa years back. I’ve never heard of it till I was in Lhasa and by chance, I was told about it which I was happy to visit. I could not find the place but strangely a bunch of pilgrims from Amdo told me they would show me how to get there in Lhasa.

This short video is a short clip of this holy Trode Khangsar Chapel in Lhasa today commemorating Dorje Shugden, built by the great 5th Dalai Lama. The great 5th Dalai Lama even composed a prayer to Dorje Shugden which is still available today and we can recite to invoke the blessings, protection, and assistance of World Peace Protector Dorje Shugden.

I invite you with faith, please come to this place!

Samaya substances, offerings and torma, outer, inner and secret,
Favourite visual offerings and various objects are arranged.
Although, previously, my wishes were a bit dense,
Do not stop your powerful apparitions, I reveal and confess!

It is great to see many people supporting Tsem Rinpoche’s approach to the Dorje Shugden ban. It is important to keep showing support to this cause because not everybody online is fully informed or informed correctly about the issue. Rinpoche would not try to take down the ban for himself but for the sake of others and that can be seen because he shows no aggression but respectfully requests the discrimination to end. People need to be well informed on what is going on so they can form their own informed views and not be discouraged by a lack of information and then follow like blind sheep.

“If the Dalai Lama, if His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by Dorje Shugden, then we might as well not practice Buddhism anymore. If His Holiness the Dalai Lama can have his life shortened by a so-called evil spirit, any evil spirit, then can he be Avalokiteshvara? So on one hand you say, we say, I say, everybody says, he is Avalokiteshvara; on the other hand you’re saying that he can harmed by an evil spirit… Which one is it? Can he harmed by an evil spirit or is he Avalokiteshvara? Do you think Avalokiteshvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Tara all take refuge in something else to protect themselves from Dorje Shugden? How illogical is that? How illogical of people to say His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by an evil spirit, any evil spirit or “Dorje Shugden” evil spirit. How is that possible?” – Tsem Tulku Rinpoche

It is good to see that some people still support Rinpoche even though he practices Dorje Shugden. These people are the real buddhist as they respect what other people practice. Of course when there are haters there are admirers and these people makes the situation bright even with the world going against you. As the saying goes you are not famous till you have haters. I am really sure that Dorje Shugden will benefit the world one day.
I really hope that people would stop harming Dorje Shugden practitioners and live in peace like old times.

The Buddha Shakyamuni and Bodhisattva Manjushri worked closely to expound the Dharma, although Manjushri himself had achieved enlightenment many lifetimes ago. According to the Avatamsaka Sutra, Manjushri is actually the Buddha Nageshvaraja who achieved enlightenment many eons ago in a different world system. In Shakyamuni’s time however, he took the form of Manjushri, a student of Lord Buddha himself. Indeed, many teachings arose just because Manjushri asked a question to Buddha Shakyamuni.

Manjushri is the embodiment of wisdom and knowledge, and this Namasanghiti text that recalls his names and qualities represents the pinnacle of all Shakyamuni Buddha’s teachings. Scholars classify it as a tantra of the non-dual (advaya) class, along with the Kalachakra Tantra.

The Namasanghiti was expounded by Shakyamuni Buddha for his disciple Vajrapani and his wrathful retinue in order to lead them to Buddhahood. The essence of the Namasanghiti text is that Manjushri Bodhisattva is the embodiment of all knowledge. The Namasanghiti is a short text, consisting only of around 160 verses and a prose section, which is a fraction of the vast Sutras such as Avatamsaka Sutra and Prajnaparamita Sutras, or the endless ocean of tantras such as Manjushri-Mula-Kalpa.

Mekong River is incredibly important for millions of people in China. It flows through many countries: China, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and finally Vietnam. But weird and it is shocking to know the dogs cruelty, smuggling and trading just for the meat across Asia, through the famous river, What a cruel business. Need to be aware of visiting all this countries.

The veneration of relics is an ancient custom that plays an important role in major world religions such as Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, and Shamanism. For example, sites that house holy relics in Christianity are major pilgrimage destinations because it is believed that these relics are a benediction to the living and the deceased.

In Buddhism, holy relics generally refer to the physical remains or personal effects of Buddha Shakyamuni. Incredibly, some of Buddha Shakyamuni’s bodily remains have survived for two and a half millennia, including the much-revered sacred tooth of the Buddha in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

Most Buddhist temples have stupas, and these stupas are often created specifically to house precious relics. Such reliquary stupas often become the initial structure around which the whole temple is later based. Today, stupas may also hold the ashes or ringsel (relics in Tibetan) of prominent or respected Buddhist masters.

Towering imposingly and majestically in the sky, mountains are believed to possess supernatural properties because they are closer to heaven than any other earthly feature. Interestingly, many mountains are linked to spirituality and enlightened beings, such as the Buddha and Jesus.

From the earliest times, many peoples from the Greeks and Native Americans to the Indians and Polynesians have placed mountains central to their beliefs. The power of such sacred places is believed to enhance the mortal experience and sometimes, it is even forbidden to climb them out of respect.

The mountain calls to us with its calm and serene environment and is often chosen as the site for religious retreats. Pilgrimages to holy mountains are also a way to connect to the sacred and they allow us to purify our sins through the rigour of an arduous climb. In some religions, adherents are urged to make such a pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime.

Here is a selection of sacred mountains scattered across the globe. They are revered by people separated by vast spaces but united in their awe and regard for these magnificent giants of nature.

Labrang Monastery in Xiahe County, northwest China’s Gansu Province, is an annual destination for tourists, Buddhists and pilgrims from around the world. They gather to witness the unveiling of the world’s largest thangka (tapestry) of Buddha, as part of the Grand Monlam Prayer festivities.

Also called the “Sunning of the Buddha” ritual, at this time, Tibetan monks invite a giant thangka about 100-feet long and 65-feet wide of Buddha Amitabha, up a mountain near Labrang Monastery, which is the largest Tibetan monastery outside of Lhasa.

It is unveiled at first light on the side of the mountain so that the first rays of the sun illuminate the sacred painting.

This is not the only story about how Rinpoche helped others. I remember reading an article about Rinpoche buying lottery tickets from a woman in Thailand so she could end her day earlier with the income she needs for the family. Rinpoche always walked the talks, he didn’t just preach but he showed us how to put his teachings in practice. Never be afraid to be kind and nice to others, and when we are kind to others, it should not be with the intention to get something back from them. Be kind and be generous always, this is how we can make our planet a better living space.

If we want to go on holidays, it is better to go to holy places. Even if such places are not sophisticated, they benefit us spiritually; we can take a break and collect merit, plant Dharma seeds and be blessed. This is a good way of combining the pleasure of holidays with the spirituality of collecting merit.

Never get tired of collecting merit because it offsets negative karma that leads to suffering. People without Dharma will not know this so for them, a holiday is a holiday. They do not know that their holidays will bring no long-term benefit. With Dharma, we are wiser.

We should go on pilgrimage to places where holy beings are known to reside or where great practitioners have engaged in profound practices. These places are vortexes of energy – an area where concentrated energy naturally converges on the planet’s surface.

Mainland Thai culture is heavily influenced by Buddhism. However, unlike most other Buddhist countries of East Asia, Thai Buddhists follow the Theravada school of Buddhism. Thai temples, known as wats, are usually adorned with lavish gold ornaments, and are easily identifiable by their multi-coloured pointed roofs. Pre-Buddhist traditions have been infused with the values of Buddhism, making Thailand a cultural powerhouse.

According to Buddhist history, the first recorded use of incense occurred during Buddha Shakyamuni’s time, when a woman named Magadha Sangmo offered incense and prayers to request the Buddha to come forth and visit her village. Magadha Sangmo was the daughter of the Buddha main patron, Suddatta. She mirrored her father’s immense faith in Buddha Shakyamuni and was his ardent devotee.

After marrying and moving to a village where Buddhism was not practised, she wished very much to meet her guru, the Buddha, again. So one day, she climbed to the roof of her in-law’s house, offered incense and sincerely prayed for the Buddha to visit her. Hearing her prayers, Buddha Shakyamuni, together with his entourage, descended from the sky to fulfil her request. It is said that upon meeting the Buddha and hearing his teachings, the entire village became Buddhists. In this way, Magadha Sangmo’s heartfelt request to the Buddha also benefited those around her and succeeding generations.

Magadha Sangmo recited the following verse while engaged in prayer to the Buddha:

MA LU SEM CHEN KUN GYI GON GYUR CHING
DU TE PUNG CHAY MI ZAY JOM DZAY LHA
NGO NAM MA LU YANG DA KYEN GYUR PAY
CHOM DEN KOR CHAY NAY DIR SHEG SU SOL

Protector of all beings without exception,
Divine subduer of innumerable negative forces,
Deity, perfect knower of all things,
Bhagawan and attendants, please come here.

Malaysia’s rich cultural diversity is reflected in the country’s packed calendar of events and festivals. Most of these celebrations have religious or cultural origins and many are also designated as either state or national holidays.

Celebrated by everyone in the country, the colourful festivities which observe the ethnic traditions and beliefs of the varied backgrounds of the population are what gives Malaysia the label of “Truly Asia” that it is so well known for.

The national events and festivals of Malaysia are occasions for family reunions and for joyful community get-togethers. They are world-class examples of how diversity can be inclusive and celebrated.

Many of these days of observation follow the lunar calendar, thus the dates they fall on vary from year to year.

Before our globalised world of jet-setting travel, cosmopolitan cities and urban migration, the entire region of the Malay archipelago was, for more than 600 years, an international destination for Arab, Indian and Chinese maritime traders and European explorers who, through the centuries, settled down for trade or for love in these parts, thus creating cosmopolitan communities.

A true melting pot, Malaysia is one of those rare places in the world where people of different ethnic origins, cultures, traditions and religious beliefs have infused harmoniously to form a distinct multicultural society.

This country’s rich heritage includes hundreds-of-years-old temples, churches and mosques — some of these located within doors of each other, others having in one place shrines dedicated to deities of different faiths or denominations. All of them have played a key role (and still do!) in shaping the nation by being centres for the community to convene and connect spiritually.

Thank you for sharing this story with us Pastor Niral. It is a very warm story that fills my heart with joy and warmth. Rinpoche had always taught us to focus out and take care of the people around us and this will bring us great joy. Our little actions will have an unimaginable impact on those people who are in need of warmth.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
