Angel

Angel Lee

Being Rinpoche’s personal attendant means that I am able to witness real Dharma in action, both on and off the throne. I consider myself extremely fortunate, and at the same time it is also a great challenge to instil Dharma in my life 24/7.

Over the years I have witnessed many cases of how Rinpoche helped many people in both worldly and supramundane ways, so I decided to have these stories told in comic form for the wider audience. It is my wish that through these stories many will be inspired to achieve the state of compassion and attainments like Tsem Rinpoche, so that many more sentient beings can be helped.

Pastor Loh Seng Piow

Thank you Pastor Seng Piow for sharing this story. It was a miracle that Angel’s life was saved and this happened because of Rinpoche’s compassion. As long as we have full faith in Rinpoche and protector Setrap and Dorje Shugden, our life is saved and we can go through everythings. I rejoice for Mr Henry and Miss Angel’s contribution for dharma work, hope the three jewels bless Mr Henry and his family. I hope that more people can benefit by Rinpoche’s compassion and they start helping others via Kechara’s 13 departments, therefore more and more will be benefited.

Rinpoche has done so much for Angel. I am sure she is eternally grateful. Stories like these are proof that the lamas can save his students who are in critical condition when the student is willing to pray and have faith. How wonderful!

    Thanks Rinpoche for the sharing.

We must have 100% faith and believe in our Guru and Dharma Protector.

Everything is impermanent in our life, we may even lose our life and pass away anytime.

From the post, i think that we must practice dharma whenever we can

    Wow!!!
Angels was in a near death state while in the operation.
just imagine what would happen if Angel did not get to know of the dharma.
Angel had really good karma to not die.
Rinpoche must have made some prayers to lessen the consequences.
Thank you Seng Piow for sharing this wonderful post!!

these stories are amazing, i know aunty Angel and uncle Henry and they are very nice people. i am so happy that aunty Angel made it through that day and that Edward, her son, had a good birth. in fact i know him and he is one cool guy! thank you for sharing this

I love these stories so much! I love reading them and being reminded of Rinpoche’s and Setraps greatness. I am so surprised that all of this actually happened. When i watched the real life video of Angel telling her story i was so shocked! Rinpoche truly does have power and know one should ever doubt Rinpoche’s abilities.

Dear Rinpoche, if Rinpoche and Setrap didn’t keep my mother’s consciousness awake and protecting my mom, my mom won’t be alive today. Also I won’t have this loving environment to live in because our family puzzle will be missing one piece which is my mom. Thank You Rinpoche and Setrap for protecting my mom.

This couple supported each other due to Angel Lee working outside she is able to support Henry to do dharma full time. Henry was one of the first few people who went all the way to make dharma a career. Protector can really help us in our critical moments, Angel was really on the verge of not making it if not for Setrap.

  21. henry ooi on Jul 9, 2012 at 4:44 pm

When Angel’s blood pressure dropped and the gynaecologist could not find a vein for the IV tube, I was truly scared. After a few attempts, the gynae found one of the veins and she was rushed to the operating theatre. I was beside her until she was wheeled into the OT. Angel’s face was deathly white and she was incoherent. When I asked her to chant Lord Setrap’s mantra, she signaled with her finger that she could not speak. I asked her to think of Rinpoche before she was put under sedation. I know from my heart that because Angel did as she was told, that is, she had complete faith in Rinpoche and Lord Setrap then. Now her faith is even stronger, the same goes for me.

Rinpoche has been tirelessly teaching dharma in Malaysia for the last 20 years and so many people had benefited from the teachings. To gain beneficial results, I will put what I have learned into more dharma work and practices. The promise of full enlightenment may seem light years away but if I do not start now, then when?

Stories and testimonials like this reminds us of how fortunate we are to have Rinpoche as our Guru and we should treasure this golden opportunity to learn more and do more.

Angel’s faith in Rinpoche had helped her through the most critical hours of her life. Not only that, I have heard of another testimonial from Angel of how Rinpoche helped her brother who was told by the doctor that he has a few months to live but after following Rinpoche’s instructions, her brother is still alive and kicking. Miracles do exists if one has faith in the Guru and Dharma Protector.

Thank you, Seng Piow, for sharing this true story and your effort in creating it in comic style for easy reading.

  26. pat on Jul 7, 2012 at 2:09 am

The illustrations are very beautiful, thank you…….it’s the strong faith that Angel and Henry have in Rinpoche and Setrap that helped them to win this battle between life and death. Our Guru always protect and take care of us… ….We must have faith and always follow instructions given..

  27. Li Kim on Jul 6, 2012 at 10:30 pm

Angel is truly very lucky to have the blessings of Rinpoche and Setrap. I cannot imagine how it would have been if there was no protection… In life, the one thing we cannot control is when faith or karma kicks in. Based on what we can learn here from Angel’s story, the negative effects of karma was changed/redirected by the blessings and protection of a Lama and Protector.

  28. abby F on Jul 6, 2012 at 6:47 pm

The lucky young man, Edward is a healthy, active and intelligent child. It is unbelievable Setrap, the dharma protector and Tsem Rinpoche saved him and his precious mother together from harm. Setrap has ways to protect us without us in the know sometimes. If we place our trust in Setrap, he will protect us in all lives.

Compassion is always felt in the heart and mind of Tsem Rinpoche for all sufferings of beings, particularly for us as his students. He always fervently long for all beings to be freed from such sufferings. This forms a part of the fine and important attitude of Rinpoche’s care and loving kindness, not only to all his students and friends only, but to all beings, including animals for which he has done so much for, and still continuing to do. He always looks upon all happiness and well-being of others with great feelings of joy. None of us can have such greatness of strength of character, courage, and loving-kindness as that of our beloved guru, Rinpoche. Thank you Seng Piow, for sharing with us such true interesting and exciting and well-illustrated episode of a good teaching.

I heard Angel story few years back before I join Kechara. At that time when I heard about her story, I still cannot believed that this planet got miracle happen. Until I join Kechara, I heard many students around Rinpoche told me the same thing.

Now I believe full 100% because I heard so many story in front of me and all those people who involve in front of then I totally believe on it. Like Angel story, 10 years ago when she talked about the story was same with what she told us now. No Drama, but the story still same…then I believe all about her story!

This story shows how compassionate our Guru Rinpoche is as he always think of us and taking care of us. Together with Protector, he is always protecting us and making sure that we are safe and can have a the better chance to practice and learn Dharma.
This story also reminds me again how fortunate I am to have Rinpoche as my Guru and I should treasure this opportunity to learn more and do more. Thank you Rinpoche for always being there for us.

Another amazing true story of Rinpoche and Lord Setrap.Imagin if we don’t know Rinpoche & learn Setrap practice from him, how we are going to facing the sudden moment in our life ? we can’t expected we are good all the way as karma is waiting for ripen . I agree with what Angel say ” Miracle can be happen if we have complete faith in our Guru and follow his instruction all the way” as my personal experience, Setrap did help me to escape a narrow death in Yr 2006, my baby delivery also smooth all the way even though premature in 32 week.

  39. Helena Chin on Jul 4, 2012 at 11:31 pm

This is an amazing story of Angel. I would say miracle does exist sometimes with the protection of Lord Setrap and the guidance of Rinpoche.

By having strong samaya with our Guru, our Protector Lord Setrap and our Guru are able to help us during crucial moments of our life. This section on real life miracles in easy to read version is very effective in helping us to learn more of Rinpoche’s compassionate love for all sentient beings. This is an easy to understand and straightforward comic of true life account. How wonderful that in this simple comic form, many will come to know the benefit and blessings of praying to protector Setrap who will come swiftly to help those who propitiates sincerely to the 3 Jewels.

Angel is very lucky to have met Rinpoche who knew from the moment he saw her, that she needs Lord Setrap’s protection. I love these short comics of different individual’s experiences on how their faith in the Guru and Buddha helped them.

Thanks Seng Piow for the illustration article. It’s very nice.

This sharing shows me that it’s important to have faith and follow the instruction of our Guru. We accumulated countless negative karma and through the Guru kindness and compassion guide and advise us to overcome our obstacles. Having good Guru devotion and consistently do our practice will make us gain so much in spirituality and is the right way for our practice to gain attainment.

Never waste our opportunity since we have met the Guru. Angel’s experience is a very good reminder for all us to appreciate our kind Guru that never stop shower his love and kindness to us.

  50. Lim Han Nee on Jul 4, 2012 at 12:57 pm

After the first story in this Miracles of Tsem Rinpoche(True Story)series, which is about my sister’s grandson’s life being so miraculously saved by the compassionate intervention orf Rinpoche, comes this lovely story.

As Angel says, if we put our faith and trust in our Guru (and if we follow our Guru’s instructions all the way), he is there for us all the time. Only by our true and sincere Guru devotion do we create the cause for our Guru to be there all the way for us.

Angel’s story resonates with all the love and compassion of a Holy Being, whose sole purpose of being here is to serve and benefit all.

In the critical hours of her life, when to sleep was to leave this life forever, Rinpoche was at Angel’s side, in a vision, talking to her all the time to keep her awake throughout the whole operation.

Again, when Angel underwent premature delivery of her son, Edward, Rinpoche and the Protector Setrap were there (as in the earlier instance)to see her safely through.

Angel and those of us who are currently here with Rinpoche, and who have witnessed so many miraculous interventions by Rinpoche, must not take all this for granted. Instead, we must strenuously endeavor to create the cause for Rinpoche to remain with us as our Spiritual Guide.

  51. Pastor Ngeow on Jul 4, 2012 at 11:06 am

Thank you SP for presenting these accounts from students and members of Rinpoche with illustrations which capture the crucial and poignant moments of Angel and her family’s plight and miraculous rescue very vividly. It will serve to inspire faith in many. It is an inspiring story of the power of faith and devotion of one family in one’s Guru and Lama and the extraordinary bodhisattva deeds of a Guru to always be there for his students and disciples.

We could die anytime, any day, at any place, we though we could live forever, have a perfect plan making lots of money, have babies and live to the age of 80…thats just a dream! Like Angel Lee, she could have just passed away in her coma, if without the guidance of Rinpoche and her protector Setrap! Looking at the pictures tells us more….sad and heart-felt seeing those innocent kittens is shot dead by someone who is so cruel. How can whoever who did it so senseless . What goes around will comes around. The mother cat kept licking the kittens, from the picture ,heart broken seeing all her love ones dead. Could not imagine that situation, sad that one of the kitten had the chest cut open and heart exposed with the neck tied with a rope. The other three kittens were already been shot yet their heads were stepped on. Horrible death those poor kittens, may these kitten have a good rebirth.

Reading this blog and feeling sad . Soolam a Golden Retriever, who was a service dog specifically trained to perform work and assist the writer since as a small furry. Soolam was one loyal companion and dear friend indeed to the writer. To euthanize a furry friend is hard felt for the writer as the Golden Retriever could not stand or walk, and even eat. Whatever he eats will throw out. Looking at the pictures the heartfelt writer hold on spending a precious moments with his doggie before he was euthanized. Soolam was a celebrity featuring in scores of times in newspapers, TV and radio. He even appeared as the main star of a special video about service dogs. The writer brought him everywhere he goes for meetings , travelling long distance and so forth over the decades. Well…. he finally laid to rest with his friend. The writer later found Zhar a new friend during a very strange coincidence.
A beautiful story indeed , with a happy ending.

From lush rainforest to deserts, frogs are found in every environment on earth. There are many different species as well and colourful too. Unfortunately, an equally-horrific new fad has recently popped up in China, where millions of frogs are being coloured with industrial dyes. Those dyes contains a very high doses of chemical which is harmful to the frogs. They seem to be a popular trend in China and are in high demand at aquariums and ponds , some been keeping it as pets. Everywhere at wet market in China, the dyed frogs are being sold. The effect of injections of chemicals into the frog would be horribly injured or killed the frog. Recording to research the dyes being used on the frogs are dangerous and harmful to human as well.
May all sales of these coloured frogs must be banned. Its more or less abusing animals in such a way frogs were treated as objects and not living creatures in need of care. In no time all these frogs will go extinction .
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing these meaningful and heartfelt pictures of those horses. Yes looking at those pictures indeed paint a thousand words. It is truly sad seeing that poor horse Jerry had to suffer. Making horses pull oversized loads like carriages is indeed cruel. They are forced to toil in all weather extremes, heavy traffic all day long. Well they might suffer in silence debilitating leg problems in long term as they have to walk on hard surfaces. Horses would definitely love to be free living on green fields where it’s a better environment for them. They could run freely as they wish. In many cities, horse-drawn carriages are seen as tourist attractions. Even though horse-drawn carriages have been in use for thousands of years , I do hope more countries will ban horse drawn carriages. Recent years many cities around the world are banning horse-drawn carriages. Great news as horse are not mend for hard surfaces, in heavy traffic and so forth.

There’s nothing in this world like the unconditional happiness our 4-legged buddies give us humans. And, just like our 5 fingers, each of them are gifted with their own personality and unique qualities.

We should have a first hand knowledge before adopting one. Dog behaviour can be puzzling to both new and experienced dog owners.Thank you very much for the informative article.

Thank you for the beautiful and historical sharing of Baba Nyonya community in Malaysia. As we know this group is small and their journey begins first at Malacca, then continued to Penang, Singapore, and Indonesia.

The intermarriage between Chinese and Malay except formed a unique lifestyle and also created out a new culture, customs, festivals, tradition foods clothing, design and entertainment.

May this rich culture and colourful tradition be preserved and practiced by the younger generation, and do hope this special heritage will live everlasting with us.

Every where there is spirits or unseen beings . Even old tress do have spirits too. Heard of it those days but for one to see it daily is scary. I am sure Rinpoche’s mother had goose bumps seeing the old man spirit. Luckily not a harmful spirit. Tree spirit is a nature deity related to a tree and are present in many cultures. As many of us do believed that if we cut down a tree with a spirit dwelling in it, is not so good. We are disturbing them. To avoid any misfortune we have prayers to appease the tree spirits, asking their permission to do so…..clearing obstacles or any ugly incident happenings.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this .

nspiring video of a Portuguese boy with strong imprints. His dinner plate was served with rice, potatoes and octopus tentacles. After some questioning he told his mother that animals are not supposed to be eaten, but to be taken care of. This surprised his mother as her young son understands about the killings of animals. He don’t want to hurt animals , he knew the pain and sufferings of animals been killed . That’s wonderful , it’s a good beginning for a young boy to have compassion for animals at such a young age.

Reincarnation is the religious or philosophical belief that the soul after biological death, begins a new life in a new body that may be human, animal or spiritual depending on the moral quality of the previous life’s karma. Psychiatrist Ian Stevenson has investigated many reports of young children who claimed to remember a past life. Interesting findings. The belief in reincarnation is held by adherents of almost all major religions. Hence life after death and the possibility of reincarnation do happen. What happens to us when we die? Well this is an old question for which religions have provided answers with faith. One of the mysteries puzzling human mind since the origin of mankind is the concept of “reincarnation”. I do believe in reincarnation and have come across friends who remembered their past lives. Recently I met an Indian Sikh lady who’s past life was a Buddhist. Beautiful stories from her too.
Interesting read of this blog tells us more.

Thank you for the article and video sharing. It’s sad to see the reality of live of some people in the world has to go through so much suffering at younger age to survive.

The early involvement of child labour is caused by their parents due the families economic hardship, parents need their help to perform their work or replacements when they are sick or old. Unfortunately the brick kiln management taking opportunity to misuse the labour by performing multiple task and treating them as slave.

I do greatly appreciate the rightful action will be taken to prevent and to provide the new guidelines against the brick kiln owners who have tried to exploit workers.

Interesting read about Goddess Gemu, being worshipped by the ancient tribal community Mosuo people in both Shamanistic Animism Tibetan Buddhism. The Mosuo are considered the last-remaining matriarchal society in China, where they are a culturally-rich people. The traditional Mosuo religion worships nature, with Lugu Lake regarded as the Mother Goddess. Their practice is incorporated to the Tibetan Buddhism practice in the region for decades. The Mosuo has their own syncretic faith called Daba and the influence of Tibetan Buddhism. The Goddess Gemu is the most widely worshipped by the Mosuo people. Glad to note that the traditional shamanism based Daba faith is concertedly with the Tibetan Buddhism faith. The Zha Mei monastery which is a gelupa monastery had a strong affiliation with Dorje Shugden and at the same accepted the worshiping of this Goddess. The 5 th Panglung Kuten did took Dorje Shugden trance at this monastery . Strangely the CTA cannot accept the practice of Dorje Shugden on the hand could accept an unenlightened protector deity Godess Gemu. The practice of Dorje Shugden is indeed very beneficial so as the practice of Daba faith to the Mosus people.
Well, may the Dorje Shugden ban soon going down into history for the benefits of all sentient beings.
Thank you Valentina for a detail write up on the Gemu Goddess and those rare pictures of oracles by Dr.Joseph Rock who had explored the Tibetan borderlands .

Walpola Rahula Thero was a Sri Lankan Buddhist monk, world renowned scholar and writer. Dr. Rahula is the first Buddhist monk to become a professor in a Western world. He has written extensively about Buddhism in English, French and Sinhalese. He was noted not only for his erudition but also for his strong socialist views. During his lifetime he was awarded several awards for his incredible work towards harmony.
(Whatever we are Theravada or Mahayana, as Buddhists we all accept the Buddha as our Master who gave us the Teaching.)…..well said.
Ven. Rahula was later instrumental in encouraging the formation of the first Theravada temple in the United States. He spent most of his life in teaching and lecturing before going back to Sri Lanka where he passed away. Interesting read.
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor David for this sharing.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

Find one of the most beautiful temples in the world in Nara, Japan. It is the 1,267 year old Todai-ji temple that houses a 15 meter Buddha Vairocana statue who is a cosmic and timeless Buddha. Emperor Shomu who sponsored this beautiful temple eventually abdicated and ordained as a Buddhist monk. Very interesting history and story. One of the places everyone should visit- https://bit.ly/2VgsHhK

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
