Sunflowers planted by Chen and Nicholas and team….so beautiful

I love the sunflowers planted….

Dear friends around the world,

Chen has returned back to Malaysia yesterday as his US visa has completed. We had a nice farewell dinner with him. After dinner we had a dedication puja together with him. To dedicate all the merits from months of dharma work here with me.

While Chen was here, he was a pleasure to be around. We all enjoyed his company and he transformed so much if I may say so. He has always been a good person, but his transformation was he became so immensely patient with all situations and circumstances foreseen and unforeseen. That is dharma. Many situations with contractors, deliveries, public service sectors, work etc. that would normally upset Chen a little did not anymore. It was amazing to see this wonderful man become so much more patient of all situations around him. I respect him for that.

I cannot even begin to describe what an incredible help he has been to me, us and what I wanted to do here. Chen never complains, works super hard and he does not find any work beneath him. He does anything mostly. He and his wife would make offerings here in the USA ladrang. She would call him or he calls her to communicate often. Very nice. He had the wonderful support of his wife to be here. Thank you to the wife too. Chen besides his daily work and assignments would do very touching things like plant sunflowers that has blossomed in my view so when I walk outside I will see them as he found out I like sunflowers. It was his offering to me. He also planted a lemon tree on the USA Ladrang grounds here as fruit trees on a Lama’s property is auspicious for long life. He planted a lemon tree which he arranged himself and offered me his wishes for my long life. He with some of our team like Clifford and Nicholas also planted various vegetables which are doing well. Cucumbers are growing. Spinach is blossoming Tomatoes getting big. Lemons sprouting also. I didn’t realize he liked gardening and is good at it and did it in his spare time here. Now when I go out and see the sunflowers, I see Chen’s love, friendship, devotion and care.

Chen will go shopping, clean the house, set offerings on the altar, clean the yard, help with officialdom (telephone, hand phone billings, posting gift items which I had many to send to Malaysia, etc). He will drive all of us where we need to go as he is a very careful and caring driver. He is always available to do whatever was necessary. Chen was here for over five months.

He even updates with text messages! He has helped in so many ways, worked tremendously hard and really did a great job here with me. I wanted everyone to know that my initial arrival and stay in New York and settling into Los Angeles was made much easier with Chen’s devoted assistance and help. It was made much easier with our whole team and their devotions. I must thank Pastor Seng Piow, Pastor Jean Ai, Patsy, Clifford, Nicholas, Jp, Dato Ruby, Valentina for being here during my time and really helped so much. Joy contributed also.

I will miss Chen. We will miss him. The ladrang although I have other wonderful people here helping and running the place feels somewhat empty with Chen returning. He told me he will look after Kechara Forest Retreat upon returning to Malaysia and spend time there along with his personal business. I gave him a big hug and thank you when he left this morning.

Some people when you work closely, you understand them better and become closer with them. Well that happened with all of us and Chen.

Chen is a student, friend, confidant and when I needed him, he was available. Like others, he has done a wonderful job helping me here which is a great service to Kechara back in Malaysia and all the students and friends concerned about my welfare. If I am in good hands, then their worry is less. I thank those who care. In life, it’s the people that care that are the biggest treasures.  Chen made everyone’s worry less. Like Dato Ruby, Patsy, Jp he returns after a very successful tenure here helping me, our ladrang and my works and continue their good works in Kechara back in Malaysia. It’s nice when we do our work well and finish with a happy face eliciting other happy faces around us. It shows steadiness, commitment, integrity and commands respect. Chen has our respects for sure and gratitude.

I send him and his wife my love, gratitude, care and humble prayers.

Chen’s short 5 days visit-stay at USA Ladrang is indeed not only a well-earned and memorable one but hard to forget one with Rinpoche, who has nothing short-of but sing praises of Chen’s super hardworkingness and excellent transformation on his “patient qualities”. Chen has indeed made Rinpoche very happy and appreciative of his visit! This is actually the best offering that one could ever offer to his guru! Thank you so much Chen, for showing us the limitless benefit of what the practice of good Dharma can do both for yourself and others. We should certainly reflect on its preciousness and develop the wish that it should flourish and last forever to benefit all beings!

I sincerely wish to thank you and the rest of the team in US for all the work that have been done and also more work in future. 12. Yee Mun on Jun 30, 2014 at 11:44 pm

Rejoice to Chen, cos he has make the best offering to Guru, that is self transformation. Other than that he also has done a good job in planting beautiful sunflowers and vegetables in the garden. He has make it a beatiful and comfortable place for Rinpoche to stay in.

Chen is very lucky that he has the support from his wife to be able to serve rinpoche in USA for more than 5 months.

May Chen’s and wife continue to do more dharma work and help to spread Rinpoche’s teaching to others. Eventhough we may not be with our Guru at the same location, we are still connected to our Guru thru Dharma.

    Thank you rinpoche for sharing.

  13. Jutika Lam on Jun 30, 2014 at 10:14 pm

Just seeing the pictures is more than enough to know that during Chen’s time in the U.S Ladrang working with Rinpoche he has worked very very hard in order to make sure that everything in the Ladrang was running well, making sure the bills were paid and even taking the initiative and effort to plant plant vegetables for Rinpoche to eat as well as a lemon tree!

It is wonderful to know about such people like Chen who go all the way to make sure that all the other secular work is done so that Rinpoche can concentrate on spreading the Dharma to more people.

Keep up the hard work Chen!

Thanks for Rinpoche’s sharing. Gardening job required a lot of patient and hard work. Chen and team really put in sincere hard work to plant the vegetables and flowers, which behind with sincere meaning. It was a truly Dharma actions we need to apply.

  16. Jennifer Yuen on Jun 30, 2014 at 8:04 pm

Nothing is more precious than offering our transformation to our Guru! Rejoice for Mr. Chen! May his Dharma journey continue to flourish and benefit more beings. Thank you for sharing with us Rinpoche. Mr. Chen sets a good example for us all to learn.

  17. May Ong on Jun 30, 2014 at 10:04 am

For someone who doesn’t do gardening at all like myself, I find the sunflowers, others plants and vegetables growing so well in Tsem Ladrang USA. Its not an easy feat for Chen and the team to ensure plants and vegetation grow healthily. It takes alot of care, attention and love to take care of a garden plus other chores in ladrang.

It is easy to see Chen’s devotion to his Guru who went out of his way to do what he did. In that process, it would be difficult not to emulate his Guru’s ways, methods and teachings that became his own and change himself.

  18. Antoinette on Jun 30, 2014 at 6:51 am

I rejoice for Mr. Chen’s transformation. His wife is also hardworking for the Dharma. They are a true inspiration.
The garden and plants look nice and healthy. I am very happy for the team in US.

Thank you for sharing with us, Rinpoche

  19. Frederick Law on Jun 30, 2014 at 12:19 am

That is the best offering one student can offer to a Guru, rejoice to Chen.Through the five months working and travelling with Rinpoche has reaps so many benefits in terms on mind transformation.

May Chen and his wife continues to inspire more people through the actions and transformation. Thank You Rinpoche for sharing this great news.

  20. Edward Ooi on Jun 29, 2014 at 6:24 pm

Dear Rinpoche, I didn’t know that Chen is so good with gardening until now. Chen is a great person, he always joke with me and I have never seen him frowned even once. All the plants are well planted and taken care of. Growing our own vegetables is actually a good thing to do too. We can save more money by planting our own vegetables and we can also fertilize it with our leftover food.

  21. Sean Wang on Jun 29, 2014 at 12:08 am

It is wonderful to see another student of Rinpoche going on the path to serving the guru and transforming for the Dharma. I rejoice for the developments in Chen’s spiritual journey

Thank You for sharing Rinpoche, I love the sunflowers and the vegetable farm very much, Chen and team are very caring and hardworking people, they have managed the farm so well.

  23. Albert on Jun 28, 2014 at 11:20 pm

Chen is one of the treasure to have for sure, a person who is not calculative in what they do, he is being so humble and even helping in doing cleaning and gardening, he did not sees this as small things but instead, he put all his heart into doing it and make sure it is done well.

His transformation shows what Dharma represent, he does not just talk Dharma but actually put it into action. The best offering he made to Rinpoche is not what he does, but it is who he has became after learning Dharma.

Thank you Chen for showing us how Dharma can benefit us, how Rinpoche has helped the many of us by bringing Dharma into our lives. Stop complaining, stop gossiping, stop lying, stop taking things for granted and stop hurting people around us, just do what it should be done, we will definitely become happier.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this with us.

  24. Edwin Tan on Jun 28, 2014 at 10:21 pm

Rinpoche is surrounded by genuine students who really care and love Rinpoche.

The transformation during the 5 months with Rinpoche simply shows how much being near our guru and the Dharma helps us.

    Thank you, Rinpoche

Thank you Chen for all the gorgeous sunflowers that you have planted to make Rinpoche’s day bright and happy just to look at them first thing in the morning.Thank you for serving and helping to look after Rinpoche, and creating a beautiful garden of flowers, greens and vegetables.

Your devotion and care are reflected in all the pictures shown here.Your patient handling of what each day brought you, as Rinpoche has described, knowing the myriad duties and tasks you had to perform, speak very well for your mind transformation; and that is inspiring indeed.

Thank you and hope to meet you soon in KFR; you’ll probably be tending to the trees and flowers and the herb garden in KFR too!

Thank you for sharing this wonderful post about Chen with us. He shows us a good example of the results of Guru devotion.

Rinpoche has mentioned that the best offerings to lama is the offerings of transformation, and I rejoice for Chen for his dedication and patience.

I wish I will have chance to work with Chen in very near future!

  30. Michael C. on Jun 28, 2014 at 10:35 am

Another ‘hidden,’ jeweled Dharma Teaching contained within this seemingly simple & innocuous blog-post! 1 – “fruit trees on a Lama’s property is auspicious for long life” 2 – 7 Limb Puja – Rejoice in other’s positivities. Express gratitude and notice the kindnesses of others. Also, like Chen, practice free from the 8 worldly concerns (doing things and not expecting a thank you in return). As this article details, Chen did not start off patient, he started where he was and didn’t give up. With hard work, a pure heart/intention, determination, and a Guru’s guidance, the change was made. Maybe we should clone Chen and clone Tsem Rinpoche and that way the world will be a better place! Place an order for 1,000 Tsem Rinpoche’s please! Cloning has its hazards though so better to just emulate their positive qualities.

Rejoice for Mr Chen! Sincerely thank you Chen for his effort and great assistance to USA Ladrang.

Very much relate when Rinpoche mentioned about Chen’s transformation, he is now “patient with all situations and circumstances foreseen and unforeseen.” I am very sure that Chen will continue his dharma journey and his good works in Kechara back in Malaysia.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this inspiring post.

Du Fu (712-770 AD), also known as Tu Fu, was a prominent Chinese poet of the Tang Dynasty, often considered one of the greatest alongside Li Bai. He was a poet-historian and a poet-sage, known for his realistic depictions of human suffering and reflections on the troubled times of his era. His poems, reflecting his personal experiences and the political instability of the time, have had a lasting impact on both Chinese and Japanese literary traditions.
    Interesting read.

H H Kyabje Pabongka Dechen Nyingpo is by far one of the most popular and influential Gelug religious figures of the 20th Century. One of Phabongkha’s most important aristocratic students, Lhalu Lhacham Yangdzom Tsering relationship to her teacher and his lineage teachings goes along way .She is famously remembered for is her unwavering devotion towards her guru, HH Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche. Yangdzom Tsering’s Shatra family were ancient sponsors and students of the Gelug tradition and had apparently been patrons of Tsongkhapa the founder of the Gelug school. The life stories of Lady Lhalu Lhacham Yangdzom as mentioned by Joona Repo is indeed inspiring. How her life struggles with tragedies, and her devotion to dorje Shugden and the Gelug tradition throughout her life.
Thank you Rinpoche for this great sharing of an inspiring lady.

Looking at these pictures remained me of my first pilgrimage to Wu Tai San. With the blessings of our guru, we able to visit Wu Tai San a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site . In fact it never did come to my mind that I am fortunate given a chance to go as I am still very new then. Upon hearing about the pilgrimage I got myself register without much thought. The history and stories of Wu Tai San has inspired me to go there. Interesting the Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong of China are closely connected to WuTai San. Wu Tai San located in Shanxi Province, China renowned as the home of Lord Manjushri the bodhisattva of wisdom, with different emanations of the bodhisattva residing on each of the five peaks. The area is dotted with over 50 temples and monasteries, many of which are historical and architecturally significant. Those temples built over 7 dynasties housing numerous Buddhist relics. Wutai Shan also offers stunning scenery, including snow-capped peaks, forests, and streams. Wu Tai San is one of the four Sacred Buddhist mountains of China, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wutai Shan was known to be a mystical and sacred site inhabited by divine spirits, accompanied by unusual events, such as miraculous light appearances at night.
We visited all the Holy sites, making offerings and doing prayers at each sites. We even have the opportunity to collect holy stones for future statue insertion or to keep on our altars. Times flies as our pilgrimage ended with so many stories to share with the rest.
Thank you Rinpoche and writes team sharing those pictures.

Padmasambhava, the Lotus-born Guru, also known as Guru Rinpoche is a legendary tantric Buddhist master who is widely revered in Tibetan Buddhism. He is seen as the second Buddha particularly within the Nyingma .He was a legendary Indian Buddhist mystic credited with introducing Vajrayana Buddhism to Tibet in the 8th century. As found in Buddhist scriptures Padmasambhava birth is often associated with legends and prophecies. Interesting…… Padmasambhava is depicted with eight manifestations, each reflecting a different aspect of his miraculous activities. Interesting article .

Milarepa Cave, situated high in the Himalayan mountain of Tibet, a sacred cave beckons pilgrims and spiritual seekers from across the globe. Milarepa Cave, a site of profound significance in Tibetan Buddhism, is merely a geological wonder. This sacred cave is also a living testament to the power of meditation and devotion. Its where an 11th-century yogi and poet who spent transformative years in solitary practice. Milarepa Cave graces Tibet’s rugged yet stunning landscapes, a region renowned for its deep spiritual heritage and breath-taking natural beauty. The cave’s importance is inseparable from a revered figure and the enduring legacy of Jetsun Milarepa a revered yogi and poet in Tibetan Buddhism. Milarepa Cave stands not just as a geological formation but as a powerful symbol of spiritual transformation and the enduring strength of Tibetan Buddhism. Reading this interesting cave had me Google for more information about this sacred cave. Numerous stories and legends surround Milarepa’s time in the cave, enhancing its mystical aura.
Thank you Rinpoche for this interesting post.

I wanted to take a moment to share a recent experience with you regarding my Instagram account. Unfortunately, my account was hacked, which was both frustrating and disappointing. Losing access to something that plays a significant role in my business and personal connections was incredibly stressful. What made the situation even more challenging was discovering that Meta does not have a dedicated support team to assist users facing account compromises. With so many people experiencing this issue daily, it’s alarming that their recovery process is not more accessible or efficient. After numerous failed attempts to recover my account through Meta’s standard procedures, I was fortunate enough to get in touch with a member of the Meta recovery department, @Rothsteincode on X (formerly Twitter), and via email at rothsteincode@gmail.com Their expertise and guidance were invaluable, and thanks to their assistance, I was able to regain full access to my account.
While I am incredibly grateful for their help, this experience has highlighted a major issue—Meta needs to implement better security measures and provide more reliable support for users dealing with these kinds of problems. The lack of direct customer support is unacceptable, considering how vital social media platforms have become for businesses and individuals alike.I wanted to share this with you in case you or anyone you know ever faces a similar issue. If you ever find yourself in this unfortunate situation, I highly recommend reaching out to @Rothsteincode for assistance. Hopefully, Meta will take action to improve their security policies and customer service in the near future.Thank you for taking the time to read this. Stay safe online, and let’s continue to support each other in this digital space.

A great history of a great yogi which I do enjoy reading , reading over it again and again. Jetsun Milarepa was a famous Tibetan siddha, known as a murderer when he was a young man. Who later turning to Buddhism and becoming a highly accomplished Buddhist disciple. Generally considered as one of Tibet’s most famous yogis and spiritual poets, whose teachings are known among several schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Milarepa’s story is one of struggle, anguish, resolve, and triumph all of which make him recognizably. Practicing these teachings for many years in isolated mountain retreats in caves such as caves hidden deep in the mountains of Tsum Valley. That’s where Milarepa attained enlightenment and gained fame for his incredible perseverance in practice and for his spontaneous songs of realisation. Milarepa is said to be the first to achieve the state of Vajradhara in one lifetime. That’s incredible.

H.H Kyabje Zong Rinpoche was a Gelug Lama, a sharp analyst, master of philosophical debate and a Tantric practitioner. Kyabje Zong Rinpoche was a disciple of the third Trijang Rinpoche, junior tutor of the 14th Dalai Lama. Rinpoche was known as a strong, detached and wrathful lama having impeccable knowledge of all rituals, art and science. Thousands of Westerners have received and benefited from his teachings both in the West and in India and gave many empowerments and teachings as well. Kyabje Zong Rinpoche was renowned for his many actions of powerful magic . We are fortunate and blessed listening to the powerful voice of Kyabje Zong Rinpoche’s precious teachings as in this blog.

Visiting Tibet, holy Gaden Monastery is everyone dream and a once life time. Of course if we have the means to visit again will be great. End of December 2008 and early January 2009 our Guru H E Tsem Rinpoche with a small group students visited Tibet. Thousands of pilgrims, visitors and tourists around the world have visited this incredible holy land for the last 600 years. Tsem Rinpoche visited Tibet for the first time with an oxygen tank. I am fortunate to visit this holy place with my Dharma brothers and sisters years back.
With our Guru blessing we went without any without any hitch. Visited most of the monasteries and could feel the powerful energies there. Looking at those pictures in this blog reminds me of trip there.

Interesting….. a ground breaking documentary by world BBC where everyone should watch. BBC did mentioned and documented that Jesus was a Buddhist monk and that he had spent some years in India. I would not know about this till I came across this blog. Many people most probably too. Interesting watch one should not miss. Jesus was a religious leader revered in Christianity, one of the world’s major religions. He is regarded by most Christians as the Incarnation of God. Historical evidence indicates that Jesus was well acquainted with Buddhism. Historical evidence indicates that Jesus knew about Buddhism. Other evidence, while perhaps apocryphal, indicates that he spent most of his so-called lost years outside Judea, possibly in Kashmir to study Buddhism exclusively.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

The Great Buddhas of Bamiyan were two monumental Buddhist statues built around 600 CE. A holy site for Buddhists on the Silk Road, historically a caravan route linking the markets of China with those of the Western world. The two most prominent statues were the giant standing sculptures of the Buddhas .It was the site of several Buddhist monasteries where monks at the monasteries lived as hermits. It was until in 2001, both statues were destroyed by the Taliban . Before being blown up in 2001, they were the largest examples of standing Buddha carvings in the world .Buddhism was eliminated in Afghanistan by the 13th century during the Mongol conquests. Sadly all statues depicting humans in Afghanistan was destroyed. They were perhaps the most famous cultural landmarks of the region, and the site was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Despite the Buddhas’s destruction, the ruins continue to be a popular culture landmark, where many locals, pilgrims and tourist visit the site.
Thank you Rinpoche for this interesting blog.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
