Give Them A Home
Dear students and friends,
Ever since I started this blog, I have been blogging about animals to raise awareness about the importance of showing kindness and compassion to every single living being. Sometimes the articles are unpleasant to read because the fact is, people do unpleasant things to animals every day… from abusing domestic pets to hunting the most gentle of wild animals and mass killings in slaughterhouses. But there is also good news, just like the one I’m sharing here.
It is really fantastic to see that these animals have found a new home. Not only have they been saved from certain death, but they will be great pets and companions that enrich the lives of their kind adopters. I love receiving good news like this. It gives me hope that through continuously educating people on the importance of being kind to animals, I can perhaps create a change and save some of their lives/give them a chance at a better life. I hope that many will share this article in their blogs and social media platforms so that others will come to realize the joy of adopting a pet instead of buying one.
Take a look at these heartwarming before-and-after pictures of rescued animals, and share them with your friends.

8 Examples Of What A Difference A Day Makes In The Life Of A Pet
I’m not sure how you can resist adopting a pet after this.
Some redditors in the /aww subreddit have started posting before and after pictures of their pet adoptions. The result is heartwarming.
1. Jackson who really stretched out once he got home.
2. Spokey who was just waiting for the person to smile for.
3. This beta fish who was rescued from a pet store that did not take care of him.
The poster said that within 24 hours of giving the fish filtered water at the proper temperature, his color went from a sickly beige to the vibrant color you see on the right.
4. This little guy who cheered up immediately with a little treat and some TLC.
5. This little guy who just wanted a place to rest his smiley head.
6. Penny Lane who just wanted to snuggle.
7. This little pup who just wanted to (lovingly) make a mess for you.
8. And Sandy who was rescued from the desert.
If you want to put this kind of smile on a dog’s face, check out your local shelter, humane society, or even online at Petfinder.

Many people like animals and love them unconditionally. Instead of buying animals, we should adopt one from the shelter. Each year, millions and millions of stray or abandoned dogs and cats are put to sleep because no one wants to adopt them.
One reason not to buy dogs from a pet shop is because very often these puppies are bred from the puppy mill. Most puppy mills keep the mother dogs in the cage all year round, they are filthy and some exhibit strange behaviour due to stress. If people stop buying puppies from the puppy mills, fewer animals will suffer.
Here, we can see how different the dogs are before and after being adopted. Every being deserves to be loved, it is a privilege to be able to give. If we don’t have the condition to save an animal, at least don’t hurt them.
It truly warms the cockles of the heart to see the lovely smiles on the faces of the adopted animals , who know that they are secure, as they now have a forever home. It is better that we do this than to go and adopt a pet from a pet shop. Dogs from pet-shops are usually the product of puppy mills – where the breeder forces the mothers to produce and to breed endlessly. Finally, when the mother is almost at the end of her life and strength, she is considered of no use anymore and then abandoned!
Seeing the happiness on their faces, don’t you think that giving a home to a stray or unwanted dog, is worth millions? Think of what happens to a dog that is unwanted and abandoned and homeless! They are helpless and will endure much suffering before they meet an untimely end, which is often harsh and brutal. Even, a beta fish turns a vibrant colour when it is cared for!
Do bring meaning to the lives of these animals, who are simple and loyal and hence deserve to be loved and cared for.
Looking these pictures one could see how happy and smiling rescued animals around.Home sweet home thats what they are wanted.Give them a home. They are living beings have feelings as we do. we should always remind ourselves the importance of showing kindness and compassion to every single living beings. By adopting a pet instead of buying one……
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article
Dear RInpoche,
Seeing these photos warm my heart instantly. The smiles and happiness on the fortunate adopted dogs are contagious. The difference we can make to the dog’s live are tremendous by just adopting them instead of going for a new puppy in the pet stores.
Humbly,
Chris Chong
Though looking at the pictures, many will be tempted to adopt the dogs. But, they also have to realize that these cuties need care and attention. If we don’t have the time nor ability to care for them, we should let others care for them. Otherwise, the poor dogs will suffer yet again under our hands.
We should then help by sponsoring the animal rescue centres or even sponsor animal liberation to save these animals and collect some merits along the way.

Thank you, Rinpoche for highlighting this issue of the animals in need.
Animals have the power to discriminate and judge what is beneficial and what is not. That makes them sentient and similar to human beings. Don’t for a moment think animals are mindless beings who react based on certain patterns of its DNA.
animals are helpless creatures and as humans we should show them kindness. even with regards to wild animals, we keep a distance from them and not harm them through killing them. refraining from liking products made from animals will help reduce their killing. one should feel the compassion for these beings which are temporarily trapped in that form of existence. animals do not normally attack a human. even snakes – they give out a warning before they strike unlike humans that would ‘stab’ another behind their backs. be kind to all animals.
His holiness The Dalai Lama, once said, “The creatures that inhabit this Earth – be they human beings or animals, are here to contribute, each in its own particular way, to the beauty and prosperity of the World!” So, please, please, give them a home on humanitarian ground! Mankind conduct with regard to animals should be regulated by humanely compassionate reasons, which prohibit infliction of purposeless pains and sufferings on animals. If we want to improve today’s world and turn it into a happy world of living, goodwill and bliss fit for all beings, then all able living human beings should think of providing a home to the poor homeless suffering animal beings! OM MANI PADME HUNG.
Dear Rinpoche,
Yes, we shouldn’t just look at these pets and smile when we see their happiness when they feel secure. We should be the ones to make them feel happy and secure. It isn’t only a smile from them , but the way they stretch themselves out when they are with you, because they feel so comfortable and so safe.
Thank you Rinpoche for never tiring in your efforts to create this awareness of animals needing love and care.
Also in addition to my previous comment… It makes me happy to see that Rinpoche is promoting adopting :).
it seems that my comment hasn’t loaded yet… :p
I am happy to see you promoting pet adoption Rinpoche 🙂 It really warms my heart that a lot of people really care about animals and do such great things for them. Pet stores and animal shelters can be a very awful location to keep an animal. They may be over populated and they could be lacking the supplies to maintain all the animals. There may also be very limited storage space which could lead to the animals being very uncomfortable. So it is always good to take some animals out of these places and bring them into our homes 🙂 where they can be loved to bits and where they have everything they need!
The smiles on their faces are so precious! Animals deserves mankind’s care and love just like how we take care of our parents and kids. They are living beings who can feel pain like we do. There are many ways to help alleviating pain. If we have space constraint and can’t take them home, then support financially to any of the organisation that helps animals; If we are not financially ok to help, the least we can do is to spread the awareness of anti animal-cruelty around, let more people know about their pain as they can’t speak for themselves.
I once heard Rinpoche said, “What makes us good humans is not how to abuse animals, but how much we allow them to live and be happy freely.” Just like humans, animals do feel happy to be treated with kindness and love!!! Its so wonderful and delightful to be able to see animals “really smile” as these dogs do in these beautiful photos. It really takes your heart out too! Thanks a lot to Rinpoche from the bottom of my heart for his deep selfless compassion, joyful humility and fresh insights to help them find homes, kindness and hope! Just as Rinpoche has always shown us in all his pure wisdom of teachings, if whatever we do with great faith, perseverance and effort, signs will be seen and doors will open, overtime, we will be given what we wish, and need, to become what we really want – a light onto ourselves and others. Rinpoche to us, is truly our indispensable teacher, our knowledge book, the power of all our prayers and the benefit of pure truth to propitiate into our Dharmapala practice of enlightenment! He regards all sentient beings as his family, a universal man, devoted to the welfare and happiness of the whole World! Om mani Padme Hung.
Thank you for sharing these wonderful pictures with us very happy to see all these pet being taking care they are very adorable no matters what type of breed they are they are still are living being that need care and love no one like to be hurt, I hope our Kechara Animals Santuary will manifest as soon as possible so that more animals will be able to get help.
Thank you for this lovely and touching post, Rinpoche. Yes, it is most heartwarming to see our pets, whom we have adopted, light up with a smile, when they see us, or wag their tails. My cats whom I had started adopting for the first time some four years ago when the first stray cat walked into my garden, are wonderful to have around and see first thing in the morning. My cats will purr softly with delight, when I stroke their fur. They are so simple beings and easy to please.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing all these photos with all of us here on the blog. It is just heart warming to be seeing the kind of great difference of emotional changes that these animals have when they have a home.
Pets might be a handful for us when we do not know how to properly take care and train them. However, that is no reason to be abandoning them at some unknown places or even to put them at a shelter. In their lives, they only have us. Without being with us, they will feel lost and hopeless. Their whole live revolves around their owners, yet many times because it is inconvenient for their “owners” they will be abandoned.
Many dogs suffer this fate, when we adopt, we save their lives and put that smile back to their faces which is just priceless. By buying dogs at a pet store it would also promote puppy mills that dogs at the breeders would be forced to stay in tiny cages and just be breeding for their entire lives. Please adopt and not buy!
If you can not adopt a pet for personal reasons but would like to help you could also sponsor animal liberation to free trapped animals.

Love to see their happy faces! Yes adoption is the best choice, it saves a life and you get a great friend in return. Totally support adopting over buying pets.
Having a pet is about having a great companion by your side, it’s not to fulfill your desires of having a visually pleasing pet so that you can show off to your friends.
Personally, when I got Tashi, she was the reject of the litter lol! She has an extra toe (which I am always worried that the groomers will accidently cut it off!) and although she is smaller than how a standard sized min schnauzer should be. But, despite all these, I love her very much and how some people may think she is ‘ugly’ because of her imperfections, I still think she is the most beautiful dog in the world.
When you’ve taken care of a dog, it really does not matter how they look or where they came from. Besides, one thing everyone will agree with is… the cutest and most beautiful dog is a dog that is happy.
