All Sentient Beings Can Feel Happiness and Fear….
We can’t be sure of anything. But we can be sure that animals can feel love, pain, sadness, fear, comfort and happiness. If that is the case, why beat them, torture them, hurt them, starve them, murder them, kill them and eat them???? Why do something that hurts another being who can feel.
Would you like those things to happen to you or your child, your mom, your dad, your spouse, your partner, your best friend? If you don’t want that to happen then don’t create the causes. Karma has effects. Karma is real. Karma explains the disparity in the world. Be kind to animals. Feed them. Comfort them. And NEVER EAT THEM.
GO VEGETARIAN TODAY BECAUSE YOU ARE HUMAN AND ACT LIKE ONE.
Please care,

Animals do not feel pain as people do, that’s for sure. From a physiologic standpoint, mammals and humans process pain in the same way. Scientists did research and agree that animals are conscious beings that experience varying degrees of emotional responses. There’s still a lot of research to be done concerning animal emotions by scientists. In conclusion our non-human friends are experiencing feelings much like we do. Hence we should harm any of them, Be kind to animals. Give them love ,protection, comfort them and give them a chance to live like us. And NEVER EAT THEM.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.
I believe that all animals are just like humans. This includes anything from feelings to suffering with pain. As such, it should be the moral obligation of human beings to take this fact into account whenever they consider taking actions that would interfere with the needs of animals.
Animals and humans both in common have great power and they able to achieve great things. We should find ways to control fear towards animals and prevent anxiety from taking hold.
Thanking you for your thoughtfullness sharing and being kind to animals.
All sentient beings have an awareness of themselves they can feel happiness, sadness, pain and fear. They are no different from us in that regard and I think that their presence here on Earth is tremendously enriching. In a way , they shared happiness , comfort, and playfulness with us. They even showed affection, an attachment, or loyalty, they certainly a love bug to us and are as important to them as they are to us.
Do not hurt them, never abuse them and give them love and care.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this powerful teachings.
Animals are another livings beings in different forms. They can feel pain, happy and have feelings just like us. Therefore, don’t abuse or eat them. Let them have freedom and we should support this by being a vegetarian. Thank you Rinpoche for this reminder.
When we know that all animals, including the ones that are being mindlessly slaughtered for their meat or being skinned alive for their fur/skin,can feel fear and pain as much as we do, logic, reason and above all compassion dictate that we stop harming and killing them. There are so many more healthy and delicious alternatives to eating meat.We can wear clothes made from plants and plant products.
We need to remember that eating meat carries serious karmic consequences for us. We have a choice of taking meat or not taking meat. We can choose to love animals and be kind to them. Why not? Give love and kindness and love and kindness will come back to you manifold.
Yes, all animals definitely have feeling of fear, pain, comfort and happiness too. Love, caring for them as if they are one of us. Do not hurt them, never abuse them and so forth. Just got to remember not to create the cause of sufferings instead create more merits. Choose to go on vegetarian or at least meatless.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this powerful teachings.
Yes, why create the cause to suffer when we know dont want to suffer, the Law of Karma is very potent. We should not create the cause if we do not want to suffer ourself.
We should treat all animal as equal, if we love a pet dog, then why we discriminate other by killing?
Yes, all sentient beings can feel happiness, and of course fear. There is no reason why animals should be tortured and killed. Killing is not a good reason. Animals feel pain, they are alive, nobody should have the right to kill them and eat them. AND YES, PEOPLE SHOULD GO VEGETARIAN! That is the truth. Everyone must always be kind to animals.
We created the karma to suffer because of causing others to suffer. Therefore animals will always be around which we will become one day after the final days as a human being. Being compassionate means not harming them, not involve in the chains of killing.
Yes, all animals have feeling too, they also need love and care from others. Don’t eat them and to be kindness to all animals ,Karma will follow us always even this life is ending .
it is true that as a human being, we always think about ourself, to fulfill our desire, we keep hurting animals.if we don’t want the same thing happen, don’t create the causes.we should pass down the message to our family, friends , relatives to go for vegetarian.
it is so incomprehensible that there are people who don’t think about the suffering of animals when they consume meat. i have even heard people ask how do you know they suffer, they can’t talk. It is that crazy. I hope that people will be touched by what Rinpoche says here and become vegetarian. Even if they cannot be vegetarian completely, at least they can start by being vegetarian once a week and then increase it from there.
Animals are living creatures just like us humans. If we can treat another fellow human being so kindly, then why the double standard? Why can’t we treat animals the same way? We always say we love animals, always fighting for equal rights for the animals, but how much do we love the animals? Do we love them enough to spare their lives by not consuming them?
If we can’t adopt the vegetarian lifestyle immediately, we can try and adopt it for a day, then the following week we increase it to 2 days, and slowly changing our whole diet to a meatless one.
Thank you Rinpoche for always inspiring!
This picture is so sublime, And I always feel throughout the ages humans have tried to connect to animals on a deeper level. How can we do that when they can’t talk to us.
So how? I think one of the best ways to connect is through kindness. We show kindness and care for these majestic beings :).
Compassion is what has drawn me to Buddhism. And to veganism. I have been vegan (no animal products at all) for ten years now and could not be happier or healthier. Vegetarianism is good and fine, but animals suffer just as much if not more for dairy and eggs. I believe animals deserve to live a natural independent life free from human intervention. I had the pleasure of seeing Will Tuttle speak recently and felt euphoric from the positive energy in the room when he was done. And not just from the delicious vegan food served and the beautiful compassionate people in attendance. I wanted to shout his message from the rooftops! He wrote “The World Peace Diet: Eating for Spiritual Health and Social Harmony.” worldpeacediet.com
If you are not familiar with him or his book I highly recommend looking at the website.
Peace and love for all beings.:)
Of course animals just like human beings can have feelings too. They can feel much greater pains, fears, love, sadness and happiness just like humans do. So why beat them, torture them, murder them and finally eat them up! Human beings get protection from all these abuses and harms, why not animals. Yes they do get protection from the spiritual repercusions of the karmic effects when Karma rippens. We should start the practice of animal liberation to protect them. All spiritual gurus advocated such practices. Many said that “when the practice of liberating aninals is done perfectly, it involves all six perfections of generosity, morality, patience, enthusiastic perseverance, concentration and wisdom. But the most appropiate of all is like our guru said, “GO VEGETERIAN TODAY BECAUSE YOU ARE HUMAN AND ACT LIKE ONE.”
we are very fortunate to be born as a human being. Although animals can also come into the category of humans except minus speech and they don’t have a wisdom mind. Any how they are also Sentient beings. It is so sad to see animals being tortured especially the more weaker ones. But there are also the ones who are pets to compassionate and kind people like Tsem Rinpoche who adores Mumu and Oser. This also depends on the Karma of the Sentient beings. You can also be someone born into a happy or unhappy home. I think animals sjffer more tan humans. So we must create more merits not to born a n animal by becoming a vegetarian.
We never know what animals feel. They actually feel so much suffering, they just cannot show you. Why do most of the people in this horrible world add on to their tremendous sufferings by beating them, torturing them, hurting them , starving them. Some even hurt animals just for entertainments sake, that is a hundred times worse. I have watched a DVD called “earthlings” that DVD was seriously disturbing as I saw that circus elephants are whipped till they will do a little worthless trick awaiting more whipping. I wish that more people will love and care for these innocent creatures!
Humans have five senses and so does all animals too!
If we want our children to be good, respect the elders and be a kind person, we need to act our part to inspire them!
Parents who don’t get involve with any charitable works during their free time, and just choose to take the kids out to some big shopping mall with nice air-conditions just to enjoy themselves are making a wrong choice.
Why is it a wrong choice? You are merely teaching your kids to be materialistic, self-centered and uncaring. When they grow up, what values do you think they will have when that is what you have been showing to them? How can we expect our kids to respect their parents and others when the parents themselves are hypocrites who don’t care and have double standards?
Whatever the parents preach, their actions are opposite. This creates confusion and wrong thinking.
So the kids start lying when they grow up and they can become irresponsible, abusive, selfish, and these problems does reflect upon their performance at school and later at work when they reach adulthood.
So please instill our children with the right attitude towards animals when they are still young and impressionable!

There was a time when Rinpoche emailed out a lot of the most shocking videos to his students about how animals are tortured for the fashion industry and for food. Mostly, they were videos taken by organisations like PETA who snuck into a lot of these places undercover and took the most horrifying videos. I remember watching this video about how dogs’ skins were ripped off their bodies while they were still alive, for furs that would be used in fashion industry. Then, they’d just throw the skinned dogs, still alive, onto a pile and leave them there to die.
That was it – I never ate meat again. That video had the most to do with my decision to never eat meat again because everytime I even thought about it again, I would see that dog’s face and the horrible, painful, immense pain on his face. How can you eat pain?
People squeal and shriek if you even suggest to them that they try to eat their pet dog. But what’s the difference between Poochie and a chicken, or a cow, or a lamb? Aren’t they just the same? With the same feelings, perceptions, fears? at the end of the day, on that nice bonechina plate, all you’re really eating is a piece of dead flesh that went through some horrific, unnecessary, incredible torture, just to please your tastebuds for a few seconds. So, so not worth it.
We think killing animals to feed ourselves is acceptable and normal. In fact, we seem to think that it is our natural right as human beings. Many people assume that by being at the top of the food chain, we can claim anything below us. However, we fail to think about the consequences of our own actions. Killing is killing. Period. When we take a life, a life IS TAKEN AWAY. There is no ifs or buts. I never used to think twice when I fed with glee on dead meat – that is, chicken, fish, etc. With listening to the constant message and teachings on compassion from Rinpoche, I began to see life very differently. Rinpoche even recommended all of us to watch a documentary entitled, “EARTHLINGS”. This really blew away all the ignorant views I held about animals. I have been a vegetarian since Oct 2009. I am glad I am no longer contributing to the cycle of killing and the accumulation of bad Karma.
Hello Rinpoche;
you told everything !
How could we be good if we are not good with animals ?
How could we practice respect if we don’t respect these beings ?
How could we compassionate if we don’t care about animals ?
How could we take refuge if we eat their flesh ?
So why all buddhists & lamas are not vegetarian ?…
Peace.
I found and add a link about the little dog Gonkar:)
This heartfelt rescue mission was the main reason for me to start reflect more deep on animals conditions:

I KNOW animals can feel pain like humans. Animals have feelings but as humans we often forget and think we are the only one. The older I get the more I´ve come to think about animals rights.
You inspired to reflection and I wentto go 100 % vegetarian.
I remembered my little funny nice wild cat as a child 🙂 I remembered a little dog shaking in his whole body out of fear because he was afraid of going with the tram. The owner couldn´t calm it down. Such a little one as a bee also feel pain as we do. I recently tried to save one who fleed out in the cold at wrong season. The bee became disoriented and very stressed, started flying around until it fell down on the ground totally exhausted. I tried to help, gave it honey but it was sadly to late. It took some hours before it “went away”. I could see the bees struggle. I felt very sorry I wasn´t able to save life, but am happy I TRIED my best.
I´m feel happy about my choise to become 100 % vegetarian!
May ALL living beings care for ALL kind of LIFE while we still LIVE!
Thank You Rinpoche!
