2. Lama Tsongkhapa

by His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche

Lama Tsongkhapa is revered as the single greatest Tibetan commentator, scholar and yogi in the history of Buddhism. Hailed as the “Second Buddha”, he was a great enlightened being and a manifestation of Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom.

He was a teacher without parallel. He showed how learning and yogic practice were to be united. His ocean of good qualities was as limitless as the sky. His holy mind was complete in all realisations i.e. perfect understanding, compassion and skillful means. The ninth Karmapa praised him as “one who swept away wrong views with correct and perfect ones.”

He founded the three Great monasteries of Tibet. These monasteries are Ganden, Drepung and Sera. He also founded the Gelugpa system of Tibetan Buddhist heritage where it was said that over 25,000 monks practiced during his time.

Lama Tsongkhapa took his vows at a very tender age. He took his layman’s vows at the age of three and was fully ordained as a monk at the age of 21. His pure morality gained him the greatest respect from all his devotees and aides. He attached greater importance to guarding his vows than his eyes or own life.

As a teenager he had already mastered much of Buddha’s teachings. He received many tantric teachings and initiations including Heruka empowerment, the Six Yogas of Naropa, the Guhyasamaja and Chakrasamvara tantras. He memorised over 20,000 verses of the Perfection of Wisdom sutra and other sutras including Asanga’s Compendium of Knowledge. He wrote some 10,000 pages of eloquent explanation of the entire range of ancient Buddhist classics and compressed them into several treatises and poems including the famous Lamrin Chenmo or Stages of the Path to Enlightenment and The Three Principal Paths.

It’s said Lama Tsongkhapa enjoyed mystic visions in which he met and learned from different forms of Buddha himself, including Manjushri.

Lama Tsongkhapa practiced so intensely that he received many realisations. He personally performed 3.5 million full length prostrations and 1.8 million mandala offerings. It is said that his prostration form wore an impression in the floor of the temple and at the conclusion of his mandala offerings, his forearm was raw and bleeding.

Lama Tsongkhapa was born in the Tsongkha region of the Amdo Province in east Tibet. During the time of Buddha Shakyamuni, Tsongkhapa in a previous incarnation, was a young boy who offered a clear crystal rosary to Buddha and received a conch shell in return. The Buddha prophesied that the boy will be born in Tibet, would found a great monastery and be instrumental in spreading Buddha’s doctrine in Tibet. Buddha gave the boy the future name of Sumati Kirti or in Tibetan Losang Drapa.

Before Tsongkhapa’s birth, his father dreamt of Vajrapani threw down a vajra from his pure realm which landed on his wife. His mother dreamt of monks coming with various ritual objects to invoke the statue of Avalokiteshvara which diminished in size and entered her body through her crown aperture. Just before he was born, his mother dreamt of a boy in white entered her womb and with a key opened a box, from which came the golden statue of Avalokiteshvara. The dream symbolised that Lama Tsongkhapa would be an emanation of Avalokiteshvara as well as Manjushri.

At the time of his birth, an auspicious star appeared in the sky. In this respect Lama Tsongkhapa’s birth resembled that of the BUDDHA.

When he was born a drop of his mother’s blood fell to the ground, and later a white sandal tree with a hundred thousand leaves grew at that spot. On each of the leaves there appeared an image of Buddha Sengei Ngaro, who is the same mental continuum as Buddha Manjushri. This indicates that the child was a manifestation of Manjushri. Later the third Dalai Lama, Sonam Gyatso, said that this precious tree was an object of offerings and respect, and he moved it to a nearby monastery where he placed it inside a silver stupa with many precious jewels and made extensive offerings to it. This monastery became known as ‘Kumbum Monastery’, or ‘The Monastery of a Hundred Thousand Images’. Eventually other similar trees grew around the stupa and their leaves also bore special images. On some there appeared the letters of Manjushri’s mantra, AH RA PA TSA NA DHI, and on others the seed-letter of Manjushri, the letter DHI. These leaves were regarded as very precious, and when they fell in the autumn people would gather them and grind them into powder. Through tasting this powder many people have been able to cure diseases and increase their wisdom.

Did not know Kechara produced a musical before ! Legend of the Conch Shell, it covers the entire life story of the great saint Lama Tsongkhapa.

I found a short video for the musical in youtube, I realise without Rinpoche, today I might not be able to know so much about Lama Tsongkhapa in Malaysia. Tibet is too far away from Malaysia, the local are more access to Hinayana buddhism and Mahayana Buddhism through media back in the old days. I feel bless to know Lama Tsongkhapa, thank you Rinpoche.

As a student of the Gelugpa lineage, it is extremely important to know the founder of this lineage, Lama Tsongkhapa. Revered as the emanation of Avalokiteshvara, Manjushri and Vajraprani, Lama Tsongkhapa is the embodiment of profound Bodhisattva qualities that encompasses compassion, wisdom and spiritual power of all three enlightened Beings. Guru Yoga and Migtsema should be the central piece of our spiritual study and daily prayer. Thank you very much for making available the links to Lama Tsongkhapa teaching here for everyone.

From Buddha Shakyamuni times, Manjushri have had been predicted by the Buddha to take birth in Tibet. To continue the Dharma. From the story before Lama Tsongkhapa was born to when Lama Tsongkhapa founded the three monastery have clearly showed that His purpose to be born in this world is to restore the Dharma.

Even though He is a Buddha, what impressed me the most are Lama Tsongkhapa became a monk and He did the preliminary actions, e.g: Prostration, mandala offering for so many times! He have showed to us, to be enlightened we must practice dharma through moral discipline.

Thanks Rinpoche for giving us the knowledge on Lama Tsongkhapa. I am so fortunate to be under Gelug lineage and learning the real Dharma. Thanks Rinpoche

A profound teachings , well explained the importance of going pilgrimage . Going on a pilgrimage is a life time opportunity with profound spiritual significance to achieve self-discovery of one self. Some research has shown that people who engage in pilgrimage walks , benefited them which has religious or spiritual significance. It offers one the opportunity to disconnect from our daily routines and distractions, finding a sense of community and belonging. We also gain clarity and direction in our lives , inspired and renewed, and deepen our spiritual practices and beliefs. It holds deep importance across global faiths and secular traditions. All I can say its a journey to a holy place, which can lead to a personal transformation.
    Thank you Rinpoche great sharing.

Great job Pastor Seng Piow helping up making it possible for readers. Religious freedom is the fundamental of human rights, protecting each rather individual’s right to believe and worship. In Tibetan Buddhism Nageshvaraja and Loma Gyoma are two revered deities known for their roles in spiritual purification and deep healing. We are so fortunate having invited these Holy Statues to Kechara Forest Retreat. Awesome just by reciting the Mantra of Naga’s King Buddha who is one of the 35 Buddhas of Confession, one could purifies thousands of eons of one’s negative karma. When I visited Kechara Forest Retreat I will always take the opportunity to pay homage and circumambulate the holy statue of Buddha Nageshvaraja. Lhamo Loma Gyonma is one of the most efficacious healing deities. Lhamo Loma Gyonma’s tremendous ability known to be able to cure the most severe wide-spread contagious diseases . Awesome having these two powerful statues at Kechara Forest Retreat for everyone to pay homage. Going through those beautiful pictures again simply paints a thousand words.

Praise be to the incredible Lord Meduza, I’ve never seen or heard of his lottery spell failing, not even once, and that includes my own experience. Every day, I feel renewed blessings after connecting with the Great Lord Meduza, who gifted me my winning six-digit lottery numbers that won me $740,000,000 million dollars by using his magical skills to foresee the outcome. I’m a dad of four, and it’s been a few years since I lost my wife to cancer I miss her terribly. To wrap things up, I really want to thank Great Meduza for being so good at what he does. His guidance and lessons were applied swiftly and precisely leading us to the best possible result, which we definitely achieved. You can reach him by email: lordmeduzatemple@hotmail.com or check out his website: lordmeduzatemple.com for more information or Whats_App: +1 807 798 3042… Stay blessed and know you’re in good hands with Lord Meduza.

Revisit this interesting story of the headless nun. One of Canadian New Brunswick’s oldest ghost stories is the headless Catholic nun. Set in the wooded trails of French Fort Cove, about a French nun name Sister Marie who was decapitated by sailors trying to find buried treasure. According to folklore she had buried settler valuables and money in a secret location for safekeeping as entrusted. Sailors pressured her for the treasure’s location and she refused and she was beheaded. As the story goes that her spirit is said to forever roam the woods searching for her head. Scary lool.
The ghost of Sister Marie has been haunting French Fort Cove since than for more than 200 years.

We must have faith and confidence in our Guru. A guru is not someone who holds a torch for us, but someone who guides us to the light. A guru takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches our heart. Never deceive our Guru. Our Guru’s inspiration and strength have been the foundation of our learning. On this sacred day we express our eternal gratitude to our Guru. We should constantly keep our Guru in our heart, remembering his teachings, learning, practicing and transforming our mind.

Have not heard of this Cowichan Tribes till I read this post. Revisit again to understand better. They are a group of Coast Salish peoples who live in the Cowichan Valley region on Vancouver Island. They were is the largest First Nations band in British Columbia, with about over 5,500 members. Interesting the discovery of the mysterious ape-like creature in the remote arecalled by the Cowichan tribes as Thumquas. Its also known as Bigfoot to many. Many sightings of this mysterious creature has been part of the Cowichan tribes traditions and history of the tribes. Sightings of these creatures are mainly found in Canada and in USA region and footprints as well. The biologically rich Cowichan Valley and Cowichan Lake areas are frequent hubs for modern sightings and legends. Interesting read and some new information for me.

Learning is a continuous, lifelong journey of discovery. It is not about simply memorizing facts, but actively engaging with the world, making mistakes, and adapting. Its good to stay active, learning new things and maintaining social connections. Hence its wonderful that Anila and Uncle Eddie got the opportunity to learn using lab-top gifted to them by Rinpoche. We are never too old to learn a new skill, do whatever we could to preserve mental and physical well-being.

My name is Bocheng Mei. I am 26 years old, from Toronto working in the software industry. For years I used to think luck was a word meant for other people Not for someone like me. My life was a cycle of unpaid bills, late night shifts and the constant, heavy feeling that I was sinking every week, i;d spent my last coin on lottery tickets, praying for a door to open. but the doors stayed shut, My friends told me to give up. Winning the lottery seemed like a distant dream. But then everything changed, I heard about Dr marcus i didn’t just want numbers, i wanted a shift in my life. I reached out, and from our very first conversation he told me that my spiritual channels were blocked by years of doubt. He performed a special ritual for me, a spell designed to align my energy with the frequency of abundance. before casting the spell for the lottery. he gave me the numbers and told me ( the universe wants to give to you, but you must be ready to receive) i walked into the store to buy my ticket, i didn’t feel desperate i felt certain. I picked the numbers he gave me. I was shocked when I got a call from an unknown number, a representative from the Ontario lottery and gaming corporation that I have won $60,000,000. Because of this man Mr Marcus and the power of his work, my closed doors didn’t just open they were blown off their hinges. today my family is safe. my debts are gone. If you feel like your luck has run out, remember my story. There is a way to change your destiny, and for me, that way was Dr Marcus. After staying persistent and finally seeing the right numbers come up that dream became a reality. The experience has completely transformed daily life and opened up new opportunities for the future. It serves as a reminder of how quickly circumstances can change. Now look… I will be honest with you all. I really didn’t want to do this. I wanted to keep this secret to myself, but my conscience is nagging at me. I see some of you out there, I see that same look of struggle I used to have in my own eyes. It would be selfish of me to keep this miracle behind a locked door while you are still searching for a key. so for the sake of those who are truly desperate, those who are tired of losing, and those who need a real breakthrough… I’m dropping it. for those who are ready to change there storyline and looking forward to become a winner you can reach out to Dr Marcus on whatsapp +2348110492028 or find him at ( drmacusspellcaster@gmail.com )

Wat Phra Dhammakaya is a Buddhist temple in Khlong Luang district, a province north of Bangkok, Thailand. Founded in 1970 by the maechi Chandra Khonnokyoong and Luang Por Dhammajayo. Wat Phra Dhammakaya is the best-known and the fastest growing temple of the Dhammakaya tradition with a iconic dome-shaped Cetiya. Amazing it can housed millions and hundreds of Buddha statues interior and outside. Wat Phra Dhammakaya is best known for its immense size and modern design. Because of the sheer size temple, it will be impossible for visitors to explore the whole place in a day. Once a lifetime for anyone to meditate with hundreds of thousands of other people and the world has ever seen.

Inspiring read of Lama Tsongkhapa who did four-year tantric retreat, he even performed 3,500,000 prostrations and 1,800,000 mandala offerings. The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
