The very first 5-storey bungalow in Penang
This week, we are in the Northern region of Malaysia, on the beautiful island called Penang (Pulau Pinang).
As the paranormal episode progresses, it gets even more exciting. This week, I share with all of you 2 paranormal stories…
The first relates to the filming location: Shih Chung Branch School. Around 1885, the very first 5-storey bungalow in Penang once stood as a glorious mansion that was the main talk of the town for years.

Built by a millionaire, it was sold to become someone else’s home. The building was then continuously re-sold to serve as a hotel, a girl’s high school and finally used as the administrative headquarters during the Japanese Occupation in World War II. It has since been abandoned.
The second story relates to my root guru, Zong Rinpoche. As Zong Rinpoche was leaving Tibet during the Cultural Revolution, he experienced 3 separate paranormal incidents.

Addendum
Spirits have no definitive form and just like humans, some may be benevolent and some malicious. They are trapped by their negative karma, hence they exist as spirits for thousands of years. Only when their karma is exhausted can they then take a new rebirth into another existence. Penang has always been known to retain many of its heritage buildings laced with eventful pasts. Sitting on an empty lot in the heart of George Town, Penang is an abandoned school. There is a long, colourful history behind it this abandoned school. Over the years it seem to have attracted interesting rumours, as many believe it to be haunted by the souls of Japanese soldiers. Built in the 18th century it was one of the grandest five-storey mansions. It had changed owners from one to another till lastly taken over as a school. Shih Chung Branch School, was the last and has been left in a dilapidated state for years. Well it remains frozen in time and now shadowed by the busy, sky-high metropolis of Penang. There have been disturbing stories of dark within the site during the time when the Japanese occupied the building. Even till today as said by locals that many people were tortured and executed within the building. Their souls remain there to this day, as a result, many consider this place haunted.
Interesting watch and story by Rinpoche about the Red Face spirit. Recitation of words or mantras is indeed very powerful.

I have not heard of this famous haunted school till I read this old post. Interesting though . The Shih Chung Branch School is an old, abandoned building, has now engulfed the small ruined shell of a school. Its overgrown with trees, plants and crumbling walls. Well the Shih Chung Branch School remains frozen in time now with many stories behind it . The building itself has a long history from a school to a glorious mansion, hotel, administrative headquarters and now abandoned.

Dear Rinpoche, I’ve heard about this school before. Looks like these beings are very attached to the place as this was where their mind and body separated. I wonder if Rinpoche blessed them during the shooting? And how was the feeling of those who went for shooting with Rinpoche ?. I will definitely freak out! Nonetheless, it must be a great experience with Rinpoche. Thanks for the spooky stories and I learnt that even as Rinpoche, they will be disturbed by those beings as well.
Spirits does exist, it is not a make up story to create attention or not any fantasy, it existed and many people has experienced it, expecially the place Rinpoche mentioned in Penang, it is famous haunting place and many people from different countries has been there to take footage of the paranormal activity.

Spirits travel at the speed of thought and also can live hundreds of years almost like some sort of mini titan. So it is possible for people of many generations to see the same being after many generations. Even seven or eight generations and so on.
The amount of beings existing in the realm of spirits/ghost far far far exceeds that of humans. Their population is huge.
Spirits have various personalities just like animals and humans. You can generalize them. Like people from the North will be generally taller than of the South. That is very general with many exceptions of course.

Many people has spirits disturbances and they do not know how to overcome it, some has created huge damage to a person’s daily life and some serious ones will caused their life.

Before listening to Rinpoche telling us paranormal experiences has made, I thought that ghost stories belong to books and movies and the imagination of writers. But it is interesting how we are scared of the dark. Now, listening to the videos of Rinpoche and witnesses on YouTube, I believe that they are real. They have just another form than us.
The story from this video teaches us about the power of the Guru. and the importance of Guru Devotion. Rinpoche has shared in one of his teachings about an other experience when a student fell and after his Guru came, he had only minor effects of the fall.
We are very blessed to be able to listen to the Guru and learn the Dharma from him. He shares it with us with pure motivation, to benefit us long term.
Knowing about the other realms such as the hungry ghost realm is important so that we can for example dedicate our merits to them after prayers. We also know that when people share about experiences with the spirit realm we can share what we have learned in Dharma and how practices and mantras like Dorje Shugden and Trakze can help them.

Is interesting story Of Lodro Rinpoche spoke by Tsem rinpoche. I do believe the red face story told by Rinpoche. Interesting part of this story is how Lodro Rinpoche when he with the house about fell from the bridge, Lodro Rinpoche reciated his guru mantra had saved his life. This show Lodro Rinpoche has strong guru devotion.
In Malaysia, some students of Tsem Rinpoche has reported they are save by protector and rinpoche blessing from the car accident. My personal experienced how i able to pass through the criticle period come is to think of rinpoche kindness and truth what rinpoche has advised me. Also have faith and truth your guru.
The story told by Lodru Rinpoche is scary and at the same time it tells us, firstly, spirits do exist, secondly, the power of mantra and thirdly, the power of rely on your guru and guru devotion. Whenever I am at the place which I feel uncomfortable I always recite mantra and the effect is I will feel better and calm.
30 years ago, I first time asked question of spirit to a monk. Till now I still remember he said we should have compassion towards spirits because they suffer a lot due to their bad karma and we can help them by dedicates the merit to them in order for them to have a good rebirth.
I have heard many spooky stories on old schools,houses,land and park.For my personal experience,it was during my secondary. It’s an outdoor school activity because my school compound is limited,so they rented a field from an association. To reach the place, we need to pass by a park(for shortcut) or walk along the road which is quite distance.I choose the shortcut and the 1st, 2nd times nothing seems happened but on the following, I started feeling strange…like I been followed,then I got slap on my shoulder and butt!!And it’s happened on the day light under hot sun.

Rinpoche’s Paranormal series are always very interesting as it is of spooky background and at the same time lots of spirit and paranormal knowledge to be heard of. I take interest especially the part where both Pastor Henry and Pamela pointed out, 4th to 5th min where Rinpoche actually turned his head and looked back twice. I believe there are definitely something that Rinpoche heard and felt. Definitely paranormal of its own.
i don’t have any abilities to connect with spirits, but i do believe “they” are exist. If in one day i have the abilities to connect with spirits, i would like to help “them” to connect with Buddhas.
From the video, i agreed with Pastor Henry, no matter what happens on us ( good or bad ), the most important thing is all of our Samaya with our Spiritual Gurus.

I was born, grew up and schooled in Penang but I have not heard of this school with its hauntings. Pretty spooky building from the looks of it. Penang has many places where people were held prisoners, tortured and killed. Thus it is quite common to hear of those places being haunted. The story told by Lodru Rinpoche is scary and intriguing and I believe it is a true account for there is no reason for Lodru Rinpoche to fabricate this story except the truth. It tells of the power of guru devotion that one can rely on during times of emergency and peril.
I always love to listen to paranormal stories. And the ones Rinpoche always talk about are scary! That building behind Rinpoche is really really scary. I kept looking at the building while Rinpoche was telling the story! Was actually trying to see if anything will pop up or flash by. Especially the part where Pastor Henry pointed out around the time of 4:54 and 5:22. Interesting though… Why did Rinpoche turned around twice especially after saying Zong Rinpoche and Lodrub Rinpoche’s names?
The stories that Lodrub RInpoche went through are quite eerie. Can one imagine going through that? Especially the one on the bridge! BUT because of His strong Guru devotion and quick thinking, he was able to be ‘saved’. This shows how powerful our connection is with our Guru when we keep our samaya clean.
Spirit is just everywhere. We can’t see them doesn’t mean they don’t exist. What inspired me is the devotion of the monk. Without this I believe whatever mantra or prayer it will not able to help them and also blessing to the spirit. With great devotion by just visualizing their root guru it will also help them to overcome their obstacle.
This is not the first time I have heard but by hearing so many people saying the same thing it does proven that devotion play a very important factor in our spiritual practice.
Indeed, they are everywhere and no need to hide or play hide and seek because they exist long ago before we “occupied” the place.
It’s important for us to be good, do good and respect each others. This is the only way to keep us safe.
Furthermore, how did Lodru Rinpoche reacted to the situations are pure results from consistent spiritual practice and great guru & student relationship, that lead to his calm of mind and effective solution.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing the story. I already feel goose bump by only listening to the story, I don’t know how it feels if I personal experience it. But I think as long as we keep our mind calm and recite mantra, the spirit wouldn’t dare to disturb us. I believe some of them just want attention, or like Rinpoche said, their spirits stay at a particular place and can’t get out from it. Or, maybe some just want to seek for help. I like to listen to spooky stories, in fact, while watching the video, I didn’t pay attention on Rinpoche’s face, but pay attention on the building behind Rinpoche to see if there’s anything accidentally appear 🙂 Thank you Rinpoche _/\_
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing the paranormal story. It can be scary for normal people like us to encounter paranormal activity. As for high Lama like Zong Rinpoche, he will experience it in a calm manner like doing prayers or chanting some mantras. By doing so, the unseen being will also be blessed.

Dear Rinpoche, Lodrub Rinpoche’s paranormal experience is very scary. Especially the spirit with red face that was pulling Lodrub Rinpoche’s robe and the spirit riding on a spirit horse. And the part that creep me out is when the spirit with the red face was pulling Lodrub Rinpoche’s ropes.
I don’t normally like to listen to spooky stories but having to do an assignment, I was “forced” to listen to this particular video. I started listening to it late at night and five minutes into it, I had to switch it off!.I was getting goose bumps and chills down my spine. It was not so much the content that frightened me but the sound effect was giving me the creeps. Well done to the editing team.

Yeah many schools in fact have such stories, many schools in Ipoh were used as concentration camps and execution grounds for the Japanese.
