Annie Lennox’s beautiful card
Yesterday, I received a pleasant surprise in my Ladrang mailbox, it was a letter from Annie Lennox! I am glad that she has received my gifts which was sent a few weeks ago. Annie Lennox OBE is a multi-award winning British singer-songwriter. She’s also a philanthropist and champions many worthwhile causes, those which are primarily related to HIV and poverty. I truly admire her great passion in both her career and charitable causes.
She has experienced huge successes in her long career in the music industry. Ms Lennox has won a total of 8 Brit Awards, 4 Grammy Awards, an MTV Video Music Award, a Billboard Century Award (the highest accolade from Billboard Magazine, a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award. She has also been named “The Greatest White Soul Singer Alive” by VH1, been number 22 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Women in Music and has sold over 80 million records worldwide. She must have worked very hard to receive such prestigious awards, and to be recognized as the most successful female British artist in UK music history! I truly rejoice for Ms Lennox.
With being famous, privacy usually becomes something beyond your control, so will the scrutiny of the public. People often have certain preconceptions or expectations of a celebrity… and many forget that they too are people.
What I like most about Ms Lennox is that she uses her fame to bring attention to the many causes that she believes in. She’s not afraid to speak her mind, and to speak up on behalf of those who do not have the platform to speak to the mass crowd. She has spent thousands of hours working hard for others… and in all that time spent, she has helped to remove or at least ease the sufferings of hundreds of people. I respect Ms Lennox for being open-minded, out-spoken and for going all the way with what she believes in.
She is also very kind in the heart to take the time to respond, write a thank you and words from her heart. She doesn’t forget general human courtesy. I appreciate that very much. I hope with respect she goes further to explore her deep spirituality and if I can be of assistance, I would. I wanted to blog her kind card and message to share with everyone how courteous Ms Lennox is. Very encouraging. Very kind human gesture.
I have been meaning to send a few gifts to Ms Lennox for a while. For blessings, encouragement, as well as to appreciate her great philanthropic efforts. A few weeks ago, a handful of my students and I picked out a few items for her. I am glad that she got the items safely, and enjoys them! I thank her very much for the card, and wish her much happiness.

The beautiful Tara now sits at home with me in London. I’m not a practicing Buddhist but I have always been very much driven to Buddhist philosophy, which I have found to be incredibly helpful and inspiring. And I have to say that your kind and generous present arrived on a day when I needed to be reminded why I often “make myself unhappy”!
I have looked at your blog and had a sense of your extraordinary life story and the photographs of the transformation of this adorable little boy with his journey through life has touched me very much indeed.

Her card has proved it all, she’s a wonderful human being fulled with kindness. Just her sitting down, writing the letter has proved that she is grateful. I’m very inspired by her, although she’s already a big star but she doesn’t act like one, very humble indeed. Great human being!
Through this story of Ms Lennox, Rinpoche has taught us yet again to show kindness not just to people we know, it should be extended to strangers and in this case someone in distance so far away. And Ms Lennox being a star herself, in return has set a good example to teach us to be humble whoever we are should always be appreciative when kindness is extended.

It’s no doubt Annie Lennox is someone who earns respect from her kind gestures and she is a very good inspiration for all of us. She treasures human values hence she put her belief into actions. She is an activist for women, humanity, fundraiser for several charity organisation, and so on. For such a super multi talented and well-known lady like Annie Lennox would personally send a thank you note to Tsem Rinpoche for the gifts she received, it shows her level of mind. It is great seeing basic human values instilled in the very people that we look up to and admire. Celebrity or not, we all live in a world and co-exist together, and many people seem to forget that we are all just a tiny fragment in a huge universe. We forget to say thank you, we forget to pick up after ourselves, we forget to open the door for the person behind, we forget to push in our chairs..we forget many things. So when someone who is as successful as Ms. Annie Lennox shows gratitude and appreciation, it shows what a lovely person and an inspiration she is. These are the celebrities we should look up to, because they use their “status” for a better reason. And it shows that they’re just human..just like us. 🙂

It is wonderful to hear that Ms Annie Lennox has received Rinpoche’s gifts and actually replied! It is nice to see that some people have courtesy even though they have made it big in this world.

Being a multiple award winning mega singer-songwriter, Ms Lennox is still a very humble and courteous person from the inside who took time to reply personally to Rinpoche’s gifts she received at the right timing. I am sure those gifts she received from Rinpoche can be of benefit and bless her, may she be able to meet Rinpoche one day and also continue to benefit the sick and the poor through her fame and success. This is so awesome. A personally handwritten card from Annie Lennox herself! Yes, very kind and very human gesture. One of the few celebrities who still has human courtesy. Very inspiring to know that. My wish: that she may have the opportunity (time permitting) to explore spirituality further AND that I may be lucky enough to meet this fabulous being in person one day!

The seeds of action are positive and negative intentions. Any intention consciously rooted in selfless motivation, desiring only sheer goodness for all conscious life, will establish the stable ground of goodness and will universally generate rich results of goodness. Any intention even slightly weakened by selfish motivation undermines both the ground of our life and its fruits. Intention is the sole creative force of existence.
Wow! I know Rinpoche was really into Annie Lennox at one point and he kept playing this song by Eurythmix – “Here Comes the Rain”. Rinpoche said that she loved to see Annie Lennox perform live because of her electrifying charisma and presence. I learn the love the song along with some of the newer songs by Annie like her rendition of Whiter Shade of Pale and No More I Love Yous. Its just incredible and heartwarming card from Annie Lennox. This is the first from any celebrity – a celebrity with a heart!

Really glad to see this! I’m happy for Ms Lennox to have the merits to receive the gifts from Rinpoche and that it came at the perfect time for her.
This is why Rinpoche spends so much money and so much time and energy in buying gifts and selecting gifts to people all the time… because you will never know how a gift an touch someone’s heart, and evern change their lives! I dare say that almost all of us, that is in Kechara, one way or another have received some kind of gift of care from Rinpoche! Every gift has a prayer done for it to benefit the receiver.
It is also very inspiring to see how humbling Ms Lennox is… she actually took the time out to write Rinpoche a sincere heart warming card. She even made the effort to check Rinpoche’s blog on. What an appreciative person… this goes to show that even though she is a mega star… she is still has a warm human with a heart which is to me makes her all the more an inspiring star! Wow, that was very nice of Annie Lennox to reply personally to Rinpoche’s gifts. She projects herself as a powerful singer with her strong mind and attitude, yet a very private person very much in control. In her letter of thanks, she revealed her soft side – “why I make myself unhappy”. It was very kind of Rinpoche to reach out to her and provide a bit of “peace of mind”. How timely the gifts reached her!!!
It is wonderful to know huge celebrities like Ms. Lennox is an inspiration to other to do good and practice humanity.
Whilst some do not have the fortune to meet a spiritual teacher, philanthropists like Ms. Lennox would have touched their hearts.
