Look what the postman brought!

Dear friends,

I was so surprised when delivery came and dropped this off at my house fully framed, undamaged and in perfect condition. Can you imagine, painted, wrapped and sent from Malaysia to USA! Fantastic! It is an oil painting of Manjushri!! Also a very kind message came with this painting. I was told Wylfred planned 😛 the conceptualization, overseeing, coordination and also the completion of this holy gift.

I am so appreciative and so touched that a precious gift with so much thought, love and care has arrived. I guess my tiny bit of benefit to some people does inspire them to show me their love, gratitude and care that I humbly accept in form of this Manjushri painting. I love Manjushri in all His forms. He is the supreme epitome of all the attainments of the Buddha mind that I wish to achieve. I pray by this merit of creating Manjushri, Wylfred and group will be blessed by Manjushri and always be near Him, be close to Him in all their lives and to finally achieve His same realizations.  I am amazed at the whole thing. 😀

I thank Wylfred and everyone who has contributed to this painting. I appreciate deeply from my heart. I am touched and I will continue to benefit others in my limited methods, not to get gifts but realizing there is some small impact. I like to let Wylfred know I like your initiative, creativity and efforts in this. I will remember you and everyone’s requests of living longer and transmitting dharma. I thank Wylfred from the depths of my heart. You are a kind and spiritual person. I thank all those who have contributed. So generous of you all. I thank the artist Ray Hoo Low Wei for the lovely painting and frame.

Again, everyone who contributed-THANK YOU SO MUCH. I am blessed.

Tsem Rinpoche

Wylfred is a very thoughtful, inquisitive & loyal person. The moment he saw Rinpoche’s post on this 2 pictures he immediately contacted his friend to get this painting done, everything was perfectly arranged within 1 week and it arrived in Rinpoche’s resident undamaged. I sensed his love and loyalty to Rinpoche from his efficiency. On top of that, he has been making regular offerings to Rinpoche which shows his consistency.

    • Jacinta Goh on Jul 14, 2014 at 1:21 pm

Rejoicing for others’ good actions that they have done is easy and simple (and of course meritorious too!) but even more so, I would rejoice more upon hearing this Karen (thanks for this extended stories behind the scene) ! The thoughtfulness, efforts and time taken by Wylfred is beyond measurable. May he and and others who have contributed may have extra blessings from Rinpoche.

    Hi Tsem Tulku,

I don’t mean this in disrespect – just curious.

Just curious, why is the food in Kenchara so expensive?
I mean we are supposed to make vegetarianism easily assessable to everyone right?

Also – how do you get enough protein as soy protein isn’t healthy for the human body. Would be interested to hear your views. How do you get a strong and healthy body with just carbohydrates and soy protein.

    Thanks!

  16. Uncle Eddie on Jul 8, 2014 at 11:19 am

It is truly a beautiful and thoughtful gift for a Guru, as Lord Manjushri represents the supreme epitome of the guiding light, particularly associated with Wisdom and knowledge. With such brightness, it will provide one with the supreme light to guide himself or herself of of darkness and samsara. What a wonderful and meaningful gift for the Guru! It’s so thoughtful of Wylfred and his group. May Rinpoche live long in guiding us to turn the wheel of Dharma for the benefit of all beings. Om mani padme hung.

Nice oil painted Manjushri from the 59 people from Malaysia. Offering this great Buddha painting is the same as offering the Buddha statues as it resembles the Buddha quality that we would like to attain. This is really a unique form of Manjushri and thanks to Wylfred care overseeing the entire process. It’s not easy to oversee from A to Z but through the dedication and the great motivation from the team it reach US in a wonderful condition.
Truly a blessed gift from the group.
    Rejoice!

  22. Cliff on Jul 6, 2014 at 12:55 pm

Such a beautiful painting as a gift to Rinpoche. Since Rinpoche received this picture of Manjushri he fell in love with it. I have witness and helped Rinpoche prepare many gifts to be sent to people overseas and domestic, it’s a very tiring job and its a very long process which not many people are aware of. The time and effort taken to go to a shop, choose a gift, pay for it, bring it back, organize it, label it, write letters/notes with it, package it, go to the post office, fill out the forms and send it, its not only time consuming but costly as well, but Rinpoche doesn’t care about all that because its in Rinpoche’s nature to give and keep giving. Keep in mind the hundreds/thousands of people Rinpoche knows and gives to constantly.

That’s why this beautiful gift from Wylfred and the many contributors Rinpoche understands the thought and effort put into it and that’s why he loves it even more. It’s not easy nor cheap to ship such a huge package over to the united states from malaysia. Great job guys, the thought and effort makes the gift even more beautiful.

  23. Loh Ann Leong on Jul 6, 2014 at 2:05 am

Rejoice to Rinpoche to have a thoughtful student such as Wylfred and not forgetting the rest of 58 contributors. Rejoice to Wylfred that you shown care, initiative and devotions to our Guru.

  24. KH Ng on Jul 5, 2014 at 11:15 pm

I rejoice. These 59 people really have the Guru in their hearts. Like many they love the Guru and shows it through actions in their Dharma practice and also in their gift of love in this oil painting. We would continue to offer precious gifts to the Guru through transformation, Dharma work and material gift from the heart.

    With folded hands!

I am happy that Rinpoche loves this painting of Manjushri. Yes, it was through Wylfred’s initiative that this painting was commissioned. He had the care and tenacity to follow it through by getting the busy artist to paint it.

May Rinpoche live long and continue to turn the Wheel of Dharma to benefit countless beings.

May we be blessed by Manjushri and be close to our Guru and Manjushri in all our lives.

    Thank you Rinpoche.

Its SO beautiful,Rinpoche.I can feel the deep appreciation and love with which it was given and received.

  27. Jutika Lam on Jul 5, 2014 at 6:26 pm

What a colorful and beautiful painting of Manjushri!!! I rejoice for Wylfred for coordinating this beautiful work of art as well as to all the 49 sponsors who each contributed money towards this exquisite work of art!

Knowing how fragile a oil painting is and not forgetting how easily it can be smeared plus how rough the ground crew are when loading and unloading the cargo from planes I am really thankful and glad that this oil painting offered by Wylfred as well as a group of 49 others has survived thousands of miles of flying and has reached Rinpoche’s doorstep in one piece!

Also thumbs up to Ray Hoo Low Wei for painting such a beautiful painting. keep up the good work!

    Enjoy the painting Rinpoche!

  28. Wendy Loh on Jul 5, 2014 at 5:09 pm

What a beautiful and thoughtful gift for Rinpoche. I rejoice at the kindness and care shown by Wylfred and the team. I am happy that Rinpoche is happy. 🙂

    Oh, Manjushri with gentle eyes
You broadcast wisdom with your smiles
To melt the concretes of illusion
    Regenerates my Big Foot connection
In Shambala where the view is magnificent
With my Guru enlightened in unison
Where it is real and the flickers of a television.

PS: A simple and short verse for Rinpoche. Hope Rinpoche will like it. Hee hee 🙂

    Love,

Nice Manjushri painting, the one Rinpoche said was painted in an Indian form. Great gesture from all 59 sponsors.

May Rinpoche live long to turn the wheel of Dharma.

I am grateful that Kechara organise this event every year so we can make offering to our ancestor, departed families and also to all sentient beings whether alive or not. We may not know what action we have engaged which afflicted others in the past and the prayer is important to purify our negative karma. Thank you Kechara for organising this event and allow us the opportunity to collect merits through the prayer and offerings.

A very beautiful Buddha statue. With this huge size many beings can view from a far and benefit them by planting a dharma seed to them. I’m sure the statue will attract a lot of people to visit Thimpu in Bhutan. May all be blessed and rejoice for the people for are involved in the planning, sponsorship and construction.

A very priceless sacred Dorje Shugden thangka of the 19th Century. It was commissioned by the Mongolian State Oracle, Lama Luvsankhaidav .As the Mongolian State Oracle Choijin Lama Luvsankhaidav did took trance of Dorje Shugden, Nechung and Kache Marpo, significance the importance of Dorje Shugden ‘s practice at that time to the State Oracle. And they knew that it’s a very beneficial’s practice as over 350 years, high Lamas from the major schools of Tibetan Buddhis have relied on the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. This Dorje Shugden’s thangka can still be found in the Choijin Lama Temple Museum in Ulanbaatar, Mongolia as to this days.

An interesting short biography of the 8th Jebtsundamba Khutughtu who was the last Lama-Ruler of Mongolia. He was the spiritual leader of Outer Mongolia’s Tibetan Buddhism and the third most important person in the Tibetan Buddhist hierarchy after the Dalai Lama and Panchen Lama. Interesting read of a great Lama who has played an important part in the Mongolian Buddhism history.

China is the most populated country of the world and is the fourth largest country in the world in terms of dimension. China is one of the most powerful and influential countries of the world at the moment. China has the world’s fastest-growing major economy. China is a multi-religious country, where Taoism, Buddhism, Islam, to name a few. Buddhism has had a great influence on the local culture in China in terms of art, literature, and ideology. A great news ……Chinese government officially supports Dorje Shugden and allow Dorje Shugden practitioners their religious freedom. Well ,high time for the Tibetan Leadership (CTA) to change their political strategies on the ban of Dorje Shugden. Due to Dorje Shugden’s controversy, many had suffered , families divided, many had suffered , Dorje Shugden people had to break away from their monasteries and so forth.
China has benefited many in terms of economy and brought changes to Tibet and other parts of China. To date the Tibetans in Tibet wants to be part of China too. Even the Dalai Lama request to be able to travel back to Tibet.
May the ban on Dorje Shugden soon be lifted.
Thank you Rinpoche and blog team for sharing the update.

Wow …amazing a gigantic Shakyamuni Buddha statue been built up overlooking the southern approach to Thimphu , Bhutan. This golden Buddha Statue sits at one of the mountains in Thimphu known as Kunzangphodrang. Its presence reflects the dominant religion in Bhutan. Buddhism been an important part in the daily life of the Bhutanese. It was constructed in 2015 to honor the 60th birthday of Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the fourth king of Bhutan. By now this huge Buddha statue has attracted many locals as well as foreigners visiting the beautiful country of Bhutan. Great masterpiece of the 19th and 20th century of Choijin Lama Temple in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. A Buddhist monastery built in 1904 by the 8th Bogd Khaan Jebzundamba and dedicated to his brother the Choijin Lama Luvsanhaidav. Wow…It was built by a well- known architect and hundreds of Mongolian Master craftsman. Well it’s a museum now with rich collections of Mongolian Buddhist sculptures, wood carvings, and paintings. It also housed a collection of masks and robes associated with religious Cham dance. Mongolia has a long history of Buddhism, Cham dances and other religious ceremonies. This Choijin Lama Temple constitute a rich ,unique resource and one of few surviving links with the past history related to the state oracle of Mongolia. Interesting read with videos and rare pictures in the museum. We are fortunate to see it .
Thank you Rinpoche and Seow Choong Liang for this interesting sharing.

nteresting sharing by Professor Reginald Ray for westerners or non believer or non Buddhist. Its all about the importance and impact rituals in Tibetan Buddhism. Each and every cultures have a different view of what they believes in and with unseen beings through rituals. Well to the Westerners, they view such people as ignorant and ruled by superstition. They are likely to believe in the existence of unseen beings. They seek explanations for all things based on human logic and reason. In Buddhism ritual communication with unseen beings is of tantric Buddhist practice. A very profound explanation by Professor Reginald Ray of what Tibetan Buddhism all is about. After reading it for the second time , I still got plenty to learn from the post. Will read it again for a better understanding in future .
Thank you Rinpoche for this very profound teachings.

Dorje Shugden is fully enlightened Buddha, manifesting as a Dharma Protector. Gyenze, is considered to be Dorje Shugden’s increasing form. We invoke the powerful energies of Gyenze, in a wealth form to help us gain resources through correct means. Such as to resolve financial difficulties, increase lifespan, material resources, merit, and so forth. We are fortunate to learn such a powerful practice from Rinpoche. Rinpoche ‘s kindness would always be remembered.
May more people learn this beneficial practice and have faith, trust with Dorje Shugden Gyenze.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this Gyenze practice and all the explanation.

A well details information and explanation all about Dorje Shugden, for beginners. It would be wonderful for beginners to learn and practice with this brief introductions to setting an altar and to which the different types of offerings to offer. This post will definitely help those who are new .All I can say is very informative indeed.
Dorje Shugden’s lineage and origins came from an incarnation lineage consisting of many great spiritual masters. From Manjushri until Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen before arosing as Dharma Protector more than 350 years ago. It’s a very beneficial practice which will help us effectively.
Thank you Rinpoche and Wei tan for this wonderful sharing.

Tsiu Marpo is a ancient Tibetan worldly deity who is none other than Kache Marpo. Tsiu Marpo became known as the special protector of Samye Monastery in the 17th century. The practices of Tsiu Marpo as a Dharma Protector have now been adopted by all Tibetan Buddhist traditions. Been practised within the Nyingma tradition as Tsiu Marpo and within the Gelug tradition as Kache Marpo and also propitiated within the Sakya tradition in the form of Tsiu Marpo. Well researched post on Tsiu Marpo . Interesting read.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

It just 4 points Buddha has give the summary of why we are unhappy and how we can overcome the situation. The teaching reveals truth of our human nature, why we need to endure the process and the method for the suffering and challenges we face. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this teaching.

140 billlion is a shocking number ! So many animals were killed to satisfy our taste bud, for our clothing and wearable items. Human is cruel. We do not kill animals to survive, so why bring pain and suffering to animals. Engage in vegetarian diet and respect all beings. Imagine if we can be vegetarian even for a week , many animals will be spared from being killed.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer

Back during the H1N1 outbreak in 2009, Rinpoche advised everyone to quickly accumulate 25,000 recitations of Loma Gyonma’s essence mantra ASAP, combined with daily recitation of both Loma Gyonma and Shize’s mantra. In view of the current situation with the global spread of the novel coronavirus, you are invited to a special prayer session in Kechara Forest Retreat where we will be collectively accumulating a minimum of 25,000 Loma Gyonma mantras, combined with circumambulations and 108 candle offerings each to Loma Gyonma and Dorje Shugden. DATE: Saturday, 15 February 2020 TIME: 3.00pm - 6.30pm VENUE: Wisdom Hall, Kechara Forest Retreat
