HOME MADE MOSQUITO REPELLENT
(Free from chemicals that poison the body)
Ingredients:…
– 100 gram of whole cloves
– 100 ml of baby oil or similar (almond, sesame, chamomile, lavender, fennel etc)
– 1/2 litre of alcohol (i know, i know)
Preparation:
– Leave cloves to marinate in alcohol four days
– Stir every morning and evening
– After 4 days add the oil
– It’s now ready to use.
How to use:
– Gently rub a few drops into the skin of the arms and legs.
– Observe the mosquitoes fleeing the room.
– Repels fleas on pets too.

Interesting ……first time coming across this home made mosquito repellent recipe. Due to the tropical climate, in many urban and rural places there’s many cases of mosquitos that are harmful. To have this remedies will be wonderful as a protection. No harm trying this mosquito repellent after all. People have been looking for alternatives to synthetic mosquito repellents may find that this home made repellents effective in protecting them from bites. Mosquito bites often result in a small bump that can be itchy ,uncomfortable and can be deadly at times.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this home made mosquito repellent recipe, this sound simple to make and I’m sure it comes in handy when we are going to KFR. I’m surprised this could repels fleas on pets too, this is a better option than feeding pets to take in chemical to repel fleas.

Cool, this is very interesting few basic ingredients proven so effective to repel mosquitos haha, i never really trusted the repellents sold off the rack in pharmacies i still gotten bitten but less frequent haha. Funn though I wonder what sort of alcohol can be used to make this. Thanks for sharing this remedy Rinpoche, it is very informative and may prove useful in the future.

Interesting way to avoid being bitten by these little bloodsuckers. The hand covered with mosquitoes does make my stomach feel a little queasy. It’s good to repel them without harming these little fellas. After all, we don’t want to be making hundreds of causes (by swatting mosquitoes) to be reborn as one of them. I think it is also a lot more environmentally friendly as well. It’s great to go green these days.

What a great and ideal recipe to make a mosquitoes, fleas and ants.
It’s amazing how simply it is to make and i would love to try it one day especially in Kechara Forest Retreat as sometimes I tend to get a lot of bites from mosquitoes and the bites get itchy and if i just scratch the bites it gets worse.

Oh wow. Such a simple way to make our very own repellent! It is important that we repel them instead of killing them as we will not create anymore negative Karmas for ourselves..
Not only is it easy to make, it is safe for us to use as it contains no chemicals that would irritate our skin.
Rinpoche’s blog is so diverse and educational in so many ways that there are hardly any(if not none) dull moment when visiting the blog.. =)

Thankyou for telling us thai useful recipe for mosquito repellant mabe i can make now and use it in future when i go to KFR i heard this from my friends before too they said it is also environmentally friendly. It does not contributes to the water pollution. YAY!
Dear Rinpoche thank you for sharing this formula with us. This is a good way to prevent ourselves to attack by mosquito as a Buddhist we are not suppose to kill I think this is the best way is to prevent.
This home made repellent is safe and easy to prepare. It does not harm us nor kill the insects.

hope it work for fly too! i had big problem with fly when working outside my house, just one or two landed on my leg and i’ll fell itchy the whole day!
Dear Rinpoche, thank you so much for sharing this useful information about natural mosquito repellents. I personally made a homemade remedy for mosquitoes. GARLIC! What I do is I grind the garlic juice into a container and rub it all over my body. It works wonders.
I want to try this one day but it will take awhile. .. Thanks for sharing!

Dear Rinpoche, thank you Rinpoche for sharing this kind of healthy home made mosquito repellent that will not poison our body. Last year before I go to Outward Bound School, my mother also made a home made mosquito repellent but without alcohol.
Non harmful mosquito repellant! I like! I am not so afraid of mosquitos, I am more afraid of sand flies. Haha…But its really wonderful that people do research and help so many people with this wonderful concoction. Thank you Rinpoche for a wonderful share that can help many!

Everyone should use repellent rather than insect spray which kills insects since they are all sentient beings. This natural insect repellent sounds easy to make and will hopefully be effective so we save money, save ourselves from being bitten and save the insects from being killed! It’s very easy to do it at home, I have a lot of mosquitoes flying around the house which is very irritating, with this homemade repellent, I can finally get rid of the mosquitoes. Some repellents sold in shops are very bad for our skin, but we do not have to worry about this one!
