Celebrating Dorje Shugden Day 2021
Dorje Shugden is the Dharma Protector of Kechara. His practice is the lasting spiritual legacy of His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche, who originally received the lineage from H.H. Kyabje Zong Rinpoche. During his lifetime, Tsem Rinpoche sought to actively dispel misconceptions regarding Dorje Shugden, especially through tsemrinpoche.com and other online platforms. In fact, Rinpoche actively promoted and propagated Dorje Shugden’s practice, recommending it as a beneficial one due to its incredible power and efficacy to aid practitioners. This work made Tsem Rinpoche one of the most influential Dorje Shugden lamas of our time.
Many people who practise Dorje Shugden have received incredible healing or have been granted bounteous spiritual and material wealth. They have been delivered from negative spirits and interferences, or have overcome personal problems, and have even been provided suitable conditions for spiritual learning and practice. At Kechara, we continue to hear incredible stories of miracles from those who open their hearts and minds to Dorje Shugden.
With this in mind, Kechara continues to uphold Rinpoche’s spiritual legacy by propagating Dorje Shugden to the masses through knowledge, teachings, thangkas, images, statues, pujas and rituals. It’s for this reason that Kechara was recently invited by the Dorje Shugden Society to celebrate International Dorje Shugden Day on August 24, alongside other associations from around the world.
Dorje Shugden Day Great Prayer Festival
The original Delhi-based Dorje Shugden Society celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. As such, the organising committee requested three of the highest lamas of our lineage, also known as Vajradharas, for their advice and recommended pujas in conjunction with Dorje Shugden Day.
These pujas will be conducted in a traditional manner similar to the Great Prayer Festival or Monlam Chenmo, that was instituted by Lama Tsongkhapa in the past. This celebration is especially auspicious considering that Dorje Shugden arose specifically to protect Lama Tsongkhapa’s uncommon lineage and teachings.
This series of pujas will be dedicated towards:
- The swift rebirth and return of high lamas and great practitioners who have passed into parinirvana. May we continue to uphold the teachings that they have propagated.
- The long lives of our great lamas who are still with us. May we create the causes for their beneficial works to flourish in the ten directions.
- The collective effort of all devotees who tirelessly worked to preserve our lineage, but who are no longer with us. May they never be separated from the Dharma in all their future lives.
- The removal of obstacles and fulfilment of temporary and ultimate goals of practitioners everywhere. May they find lasting happiness and uphold the Dharma as taught by our lineage lamas.
