Question asked by KL Ng
I am just a layperson but I have read a lot about Buddhism and have attended a few prayer sessions whenever a high lama comes to my State at a Buddhist centre.
Recently I came across Kechara's website whilst searching for information on Buddhism and learnt about Lord Setrap. As such since I am experiencing personal obstacles in my life at the present moment I have been chanting Lord Setrap's mantra OM MAHA YAK CHAKSA SOHA daily. Will I be able to get a connection to Lord Setrap through my daily chanting so that my obstacles will be pacified ? Must I chant a certain number of mantras daily to seek Lord Setrap's help ?
Dear KL Ng,
I suggest you do the prayer to Lord Setrap and recite at least one mala of the mantra daily. You can find the prayer in this blog in the section “Sadhana and Prayers”. It is called “Prayer & Serkym to the Dharmapala Setrap”: https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/prayers-and-sadhanas/sadhana-prayers.html#28.
In order to learn the prayer well and understand the practice, it is recommended that you attend the Setrap puja in our centre in SunwayMas Commercial Centre, Petaling Jaya. For more information, please contact the Front Desk: +60378033908. You can also get a copy of the prayer book and an explanation of the practice in a special “Setrap Box Set” which you can order from http://www.vajrasecrets.com.
Lord Setrap is an enlightened protector and is an emanation of Amitabha Buddha. Therefore his practice can actually lead to enlightenment. According to H.E. Tsem Rinpoche, in propitiating an enlightened being like Setrap, our mind must be very altruistic. When we practise with good motivation to benefit others, we will also receive the benefits of the practice.
