The Kechara Forest Retreat was conceptualised by H.E. Tsem Rinpoche as the heart of the Kechara organisation. It will be a place away from the hustle and bustle of the city; where anyone can take a break from our hectic lives and rest, relax and recharge at this beautiful holistic centre.

In the very near future, this will be the place for anyone who wishes to seek spiritual solace and for those who wish to have some time out of their daily city life. The creation of this forest retreat is an instrumental step for getting closer to our ultimate goal, Kechara World Peace Centre (KWPC).

This retreat land is conceptualised in a way to embrace nature, hence the name Kechara Forest Retreat. The moment you step into KFR, you will be greeted by beautiful fauna and flora. Nestled in the middle of the land will be a Prayer Hall where everyone can go to make their wishes and prayers, or simply meditate in tranquil surroundings.

At the Kechara Forest Retreat, we will have a spiritual experience that will leave our mind and body rejuvenated; allowing us to take on whatever comes next in our hectic lives. It is a place where families and individuals will find peace, nourishment and inspiration within a natural forest environment.

Here, we will give back to society through educational programmes for the young and the old, by instilling universal values such as patience, acceptance, kindness and compassion. It is a unique opportunity to experience a sustainable spiritual lifestyle within a conscious community.

The 9ft Manjushri stone statue on Manjushri Hill

IN YOU MANJUSHRI ~ a poem by Tsem Rinpoche

How much I have explored I find no repose,
Pleasant always turns unpleasant revealing
unfailingly the true nature of samsara,
All attractions look infallible, but all…
that is infallible appears fallible,
Where do I seek a place where my senses
can rest, trust and rely?
Nowhere have I searched in the wide spacious
universe can reliability be found.
Only in You, Your dharma and Your results
My Lord Manjushri can I trust.
For You are,
the lord of all illusions, phenomena, and
penetrative insight fulfilling my thirsty
need for substantial reliability.
Grant me the clairvoyance, insight and laser like
sight to penetrate concepts and see them for what they
are not.
Grant me Oh Gentle Lord of unsurpassed light and Manifestations
I may reach Your penetrated state of bliss and illumination.
This life if the goal shall not be won, I implore You
to safeguard me this seeker of Your omniscience
to reach in a life to come, guarded by Your infinite
compassion and watchful eye.
I rest my faith, will, trust, and mind in Your
illumination and awakening My Lord of who appears as
a gentle youth and innumerable manifestations.
Manjushri, for me You are the perfect Buddha,
please appear to me auspiciously day and night
life cycle after cycle. I find in You, the sublime
and final goal.

The 9ft Lama Tsongkhapa stone statue in front of Wisdom Hall

This is the holy Tsongkapa with many light offerings at Kechara Forest Retreat. Everyone should make or arrange for light offerings on a regular basis. It blesses you and your mind’s wisdom. It assists in your spiritual development. It’s an important practice.

Tsem Rinpoche

LAMA TSONGKHAPA

The birth of Tibet’s immortal yogi and saint Lama Tsongkhapa had been prophesised by Buddha Shakyamuni.

The Buddhas of Wisdom, Compassion and Skilful Means (Manjushri, Avalokiteshvara, Vajrapani) incarnated in this divine child.

By his genius, his example of perfect balance of study and practice, his utter humility and boundless energy, he restored the holy Buddhadharma to its original purity and caused it to spread like a wildfire all over Tibet, Mongolia, China and India.

Already practising the most profound tantric methods as a five-year-old, having been given his ordination vows by H.H. the 4th Karmapa, Je Tsongkhapa went on to study at the feet of no less than forty-five Gurus of all existing traditions.

After an eight-year retreat, eating only one seed of a tree per day and offering 3.5 million prostrations and 1.5 million mandalas, many deities appeard to him directly and he remained in constant communion with Lord Manjushri for the rest of his life.

Vajrayogini advised him to use the colour yellow for his teaching hat and the lineage that originated with him, the Gelugpa school, has often been called ‘Yellow-Hat School’ for that reason.

Lord Tsongkhapa founded the three main monasteries of Gaden, Drepung and Sera whose many attained Masters uphold his enlightened tradition and share it with the world. He is the author of many texts unsurpassed to this day in depth and clarity, most famously his work “The Stages on the Path to Enlightenment”.

Hailed as the second Buddha by contemporary Buddhist masters of his time, Lama Tsongkhapa comes from the mystical land of snows, Tibet. He is an incomparable pure monk, scholar and great teacher to thousands then and millions now.

This simple monk has become a limitless treasure trove of love, wisdom and compassion. He is an ideal spiritual inspiration for everyone throughout the ages.

Some look upon him for simple career advancement and some for a guide on a spiritual path. It simply doesn’t matter, as Lama Tsongkhapa grants wealth, business and career to the practical minded. He thus allows us to look deeper into spirituality with minds freer off mundane matters.

Having Lama Tsongkhapa’s image has the immense benefit of harmonizing the energy wherever his image is placed. A direct result of having him in your home would be stabilizing wealth and happiness. Essentials of food, money, shelter and clothing will cease to be a problem.

Lama Tsongkhapa’s image is well known to have a calming effect on aggressive minds and those with destructive emotions. Making offerings to him and doing his meditations and practice allow us to cultivate the inner qualities of wisdom, compassion and inner strength.

This practice’s other benefits are destroying all problems and obstacles. This is displayed with the flaming sword of wisdom on a lotus on his right. The Book of Dharma on the left lotus indicates by taking refuge in him, one can attain the higher wisdom of achieving true inner peace, tranquility and ultimately, Enlightenment.

Je Tsongkhapa’s Guru Yoga meditation (Gaden Lhagyama) is open to all, easy and pleasant to do, yet infinitely profound. Healing of depression, restlessness and sickness, protection from negative energies, enhancement of intelligence and clarity, deep joy and peace are experienced by those who practice it.

His spiritual energy in the form of sound that helps to transform the mind (Mantra), called Migtsema:

MIG-MEY TZE-WEY TER-CHEN CHENREZIG

DRI-MEY KHYEN-PI WANG-PO JAMPAL YANG

DU-PUNG MA-LU JOM-DZEY SANG-WEY DAG

GANG-CHEN KE-PEY TSUG-GYEN TSONGKHAPA

View from Manjushri Hill

Office in the Forest

Manjushri is the Buddha of Wisdom and therefore, he is also the patron of writers, artists, intellectuals and such. So, it was apt that His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche named the hill Manjushri as a special blessing on those who work here as the work is meant to reach out to millions and to have Manjushri bless the work so it would be beneficial to these people. This is where the writers and the IT people spend most of their time in KECHARA FOREST RETREAT.

When the building was being built, Rinpoche made sure that the glass windows are large enough so that the people working in the office can enjoy the spectacular view of rolling mountains and green forest, to relax and rejuvenate while working hard.

I was standing at the exact spot where this picture was taken exactly 1 year ago in October 2012 (inset). That was the very first time I went up to that hilltop where the panoramic view of the 1st phase of KECHARA FOREST RETREAT development can be seen.

With the hard work and dedication of students and friends of KECHARA, exactly 1 year later, we have almost completed the 1st phase of the development, and have transformed the raw jungle into a place with holy statues, temple, residences, admin area, aviary etc. We are getting one step closer to our dream of creating a holy place where families and individuals will find peace, nourishment and inspiration within a natural forest environment called KECHARA FOREST RETREAT.

The 9ft Manjushri stone statue on Manjushri Hill

I love Manjushri. I have always loved Manjushri and the much needed benefits He bestows upon practitioners. His practice can bring so much benefit to the person by increasing their memory, learning, composition, absorbing the Dharma, teaching, poetry, and much more. There are many forms of Manjushri which are depicted in different colors, two arms, four arms, peaceful and wrathful forms. Each form has a special function.

A very good friend of mine has recently offered me a beautiful 9 feet four-arm Manjushri statue carved of stone. This form of Manjushri is very rare and he made special arrangements for it to be carved. This four-arm Manjushri holds in his right hand a fiery sword, representing that he cuts asunder all causes of suffering. His left hand he holds a pure lotus flower by the stem in a teaching mudra. A scripture text sits atop the blooming lotus represents Manjushri’s stainless wisdom and his loving vow to teach us. His other two hands hold a bow and arrow representing wisdom and skilful means in union to bring benefit to people.

Director Paul Yap has arranged for this Manjushri statue to be enthroned on a special made platform on Manjushri Hill overlooking the valley to bless the people and surroundings in Kechara Forest Retreat. The Green Team led by Li Kheng did a very good job making the surrounding area of the platform beautiful with bamboo and white pebbles to give it a Zen look.

As soon as the statue was placed on top of the platform, a group of students who were working out from Manjushri Hill prepared offerings for a special puja to enthrone Manjushri and a beautiful rainbow appeared in the background to the right of Manjushri. I was told that the rainbow was visible throughout the duration of the puja together with a constant drizzle. Both the drizzle and rainbow stopped when they completed the puja. Very auspicious omen.

It is a very auspicious omen as the light rain and rainbow appeared throughout the puja as we believe that the land deities and spirits residing in the area are very pleased also. With the installation of Manjushri, I wish to bless all those who come in touch with Kechara Forest Retreat with the blessings of wisdom and the Dharma so that they will be able to attain peace and happiness.

I would like to share the picture of this holy Manjushri with everyone so that you may all be blessed.

Much care, Tsem Rinpoche

The iconic mango tree next to the Dining Room of Dukkar Apts

This is the iconic mango tree next to The Dining Room in KECHARA FOREST RETREAT (KFR). This tree is very special because last year while we were looking around for lands to build KFR, a miracle related to this tree appeared to show us that this would be the right place to build KFR, so we acquired this piece of land. This is a very auspicious tree. A Buddha Shakyamuni stone statue is placed under this tree to mark its significance.

The 9ft stone statue of Lama Tsongkhapa in front of Wisdom Hall at KECHARA FOREST RETREAT, in the background is the 12ft copper statue of Buddha Shakyamuni in the main prayer hall.

Wisdom Hall, the main prayer hall of Kechara Forest Retreat where the 12ft Buddha Shakyamuni statue sits on the main altar

At Kechara, Dharma’s sacred spaces are evolving in modernity. Our locations are moving from the busy city to the peaceful forest. Our architecture, which has already been considered modern compared to the traditional Tibetan busy, elaborate, colourful interiors have also evolved to cleaner, brighter, more minimalist designs.

Wisdom Hall is an example of a modern building within a forest enclave, which is practical, simple yet exuding serene spirituality. Surrounded by the Enchanted Forest, the Dukkar Apartments and Manjushri Hill, Wisdom Hall serves as a venue for traditional pujas and for Tsem Rinpoche to give teachings. It will cater for the growing number of students while the larger 3000 capacity multifunction hall in the front of KFR is being built. The capacity of Wisdom Hall is twice that of the current city gompa at Kechara House, Sunwaymas.

The main focus of the altar at the end of the Hall will be a 12ft Shakyamuni copper statue. Shakyamuni Buddha’s image is universal and everyone can relate to him. This beautiful handcrafted statue was commissioned under the artistic and watchful eyes of Liaison Paul Yap, who has been in charge of commissioning all the large Buddha statues at Kechara and now Kechara Forest Retreat.

Director Dato’ Ruby Khong was placed in charge of overseeing the construction of Wisdom Hall approximately two months ago. The hall was designed to be simple and uncluttered, with a zen-like concept. It is fully glazed with floor to ceiling glass panels on the sides and the front, bringing light and the surroundings right into the building.

Facilities in the Hall include a large pantry with sufficient space to make tormas for pujas, an audience room for H.E. Tsem Rinpoche, a Dharma shop and a reception area. The building has also been designed with access for people with disabilities in mind. There are two handicapped toilets, as well as ramps for wheelchair access to the main hall.

In the front of the hall, there is a feature wall, which cleverly camouflages a shoe rack behind it. There is a roundabout in front, and within the roundabout, there are a large Lama Tsongkhapa stone statue, a large incense burner and a space for making up to 600 candle offerings.

Dukkar Apts, the staying place for staff and guests

The interior of Dukkar Apts, with containers accomodation for full-time staff, members and friends

The 9ft Dukkar statue in Dukkar Apts

(Thoughts by Martin Chow)

In Tsem Rinpoche’s Kechara you learn not to be proud and yet it would be remiss of me not to point out how tremendously powerful it is when you believe your Guru and your motivation is for the advancement of the Dharma.

In just over a year ago, Kecharians started working on the land and they stayed in simple tents and slept on the ground. No one cared or minded at all. They were there on a mission, not a holiday. After a little while, something “bette” was erected which was merely a bigger tent city under a timber structure. Again no one minded.

And now, look at what has happened on the very site that the old tent city stood a year ago…Dukkar Apartments which is really a resort-like community living. It is beautiful, it is comfortable and complete with all the mod cons…and yet, no one minds. The same people who work on the land would readily return to the simple tents if that is what is required for the Dharma to grow. The mission is far from over but already the undisputed truth is great things happen to ordinary people when they do it for Dharma. BELIEVE!

The POINT is, although Dukkar Apartments have come about beautifully, it is merely a manifestation of minds that have transformed under the tutelage of a holy and compassionate Guru. You should see the “Dukkar” inside the minds of the people who build KECHARA FOREST RETREAT…its unimaginably beautiful.

Click here to watch the video showing the amazingly beautiful yet practical interior of Dukkar Apartments:

This is the Aviary in KECHARA FOREST RETREAT, this is where we keep various species of birds that we rescued from pet shops, previous owners etc. They were not treated well before, they were abused, some were kept in very tiny cages, some plucked their feathers because they were neglected, some were weak due to old age, some were sick, crippled, blind…

We rescued these birds and housed them in this huge aviary (they will not survive if released into the wild), now they have the freedom to spread their wings fully, fly around, make friends, recuperate…and everyday our people give the birds plenty of food and clean water, and they clean the aviary well. The birds are almost in their natural environment with trees, greeneries, sound of water flowing in the nearby stream, sound of breeze, ruffling leaves, and we also play mantra chanting from a CD to plant the seed of Dharma in their mind.

The birds are extremely happy now in this aviary.

May all animals be free from sufferings of any sort or kind.

KFR is definitely a very beautiful place, I am very happy that I am so fortunate to be having the opportunity to stay and work in KFR. It is an awesome place where magic takes place. Although this sounds like some kind of advertisement, but I think this is really the case as everything is just happening so quickly and transforming so beautifully, just lie magic!

I am so happy that Rinpoche has concepted this place for all the people in this region to be lucky enough to have such a nice place to come and do our prayers at.

  9. thierry on Nov 5, 2013 at 10:54 pm

KFR is a wonderful place, yes indeed it is beautiful, it is green, it is a place of peace, for peace, yes it is a high spiritual ground, but also, it is the demonstration that with determination, confidence and faith the impossible can become reality. In the short period of only one year, such large and complex buildings have been completed 100%, a genuine achievement! One that, from my professional experience, was un-achievable! The un-achievable has been achieved, and with great success, beautiful design, great quality, a true achievement!

  10. HelenaC on Nov 5, 2013 at 12:58 pm

The photography is superb and the spectacle of Rinpoche’s vision unfolding before our very eyes in just a year is incredible. In the past, they say that dakinis descended into our realm to help the great attained Lamas to build the monasteries. Today, we only have dedicated students, sponsors and whole bunch of ‘interesting’ contractors to work with. It may be a year but it took a lot of monitoring, corrections and amendments to previous plans to get the buildings and facilities up to par with our needs and expectations. Jp Thong and his team of Moh Mei (A pastor and soon to be sangha), Khoo Hau Haw and Nicholas Yu did a fantastic job creating this spectacle along with Dato Ruby who did wonders with Manjushri Hill. This is not to mention Henry Ooi with his little assistant Pammie Yap. Amazing dedication and devotion.

The pictures turned out beautiful! I love the colours and scenery of every photo that was taken, together with the descriptions typed out by Rinpoche and the admins, it totally helps me visualise the tranquility of Kechara Forest Retreat offers. I have had the blessed opportunity to visit KFR and have also stayed there for a couple of nights, the air is fresh and the feeling you get is calm and peaceful. Rinpoche and kecharians should be very proud of what they have built and shouldn’t stop there and continue to push on to finish KWPC. Thank you Rinpoche and kecharians for building this magnificent place, may it benefit many sentient beings. I hope Rinpoche is feeling well.

  22. May Ong on Oct 18, 2013 at 3:30 pm

KFR is a wonderful place to get away from the city to relax our mind and find solace in fresh air, forest environment, quietness and peace.

Thank you Rinpoche for your kindness and compassion to spearhead the Kechara Forest Retreat development along with many Kecharians who have put tremendous hard work to make things happened. I truly feel we Malaysians are very fortunate to have beautiful and well organized structure within the Kechara Forest Retreat that provides all the good facilities for local people and visitors who want to do more retreats and practice more Dharma in a peace, quiet and fresh environment. It is indeed a Heaven on earth.

  24. Carmen K on Oct 17, 2013 at 7:06 pm

This is the result, the results of determination, struggle, integrity, commitment, devotion and kindness. Looking at the beautiful pictures, it is indeed a true testament to going all the way with your lama.

Around this time last year, from a small little cabin in our then temporary cabin area, Tsem Rinpoche moved into the cabin to oversee the construction works that was going on. That was the very beginning, the spark that set the unending flame into a blaze to light the path for all into seeking peace and happiness from within. It was from this very cabin, (located at where Dukkar Apartments is now), where Rinpoche sat, meditated, aspired, did offerings and prayed endlessly for the manifestation and realisation of Kechara Forest Retreat. And from this one small cabin where the Lama took his seat, KFR has grown and blossomed into what it has become today.

Many didn’t see what Rinpoche had to endure – sinking into the mud, being swamped by insects, flies and mosquitos, having braved the monsoon, constant flooding and leaks, cold showers, laying bricks with bare hands, the packing, unpacking, repacking and unpacking, the tearing down of our tents because of the strong winds, the constant fear of landslides, the many many uprooted trees, and so forth. Through it all, our lama was at the forefront to lead us. He stood strong, determined and most of all, happy, because it is a legacy that our lama is creating for all of us. It is his gift to us. A sanctuary for the minds of today’s people to seek transformation and find their own path to alleviate their own sufferings. If there is anything that Rinpoche would want, it is just for us to be happy and to end our own sufferings. And with that lies the foundation to Kechara Forest Retreat.

“I pray that my life in the Dharma, teaching, the monastery, the poverty that I have suffered sleeping on the streets the energy that I have spent and everything I have given, be dedicated to all of you” ~ Tsem Rinpoche

With much love and gratitude for the best gift in life that Rinpoche has given us,
    Carmen

Whenever I shared with friends about Kechara Forest Retreat, they were always amazed with the design of the architecture and the speed of all these buildings were built. Many of them wanted to come and see and interested to join our weekend program to meditate, to do retreat, for healing, to enjoy and connect back to the mother nature, to get your hands dirty with soil, wake up in the morning hearing birds and monkeys calling, laying on the field watching the cloud floating in the wide blue sky, getting wet in the rain… oh I will go on and on about it.. Thank you to the lovely KFR Team who worked extremely hard to get everything up.

Thank you Rinpoche for creating KFR for all of us..

Visiting Tibet, holy Gaden Monastery is everyone dream and a once life time. Of course if we have the means to visit again will be great. End of December 2008 and early January 2009 our Guru H E Tsem Rinpoche with a small group students visited Tibet. Thousands of pilgrims, visitors and tourists around the world have visited this incredible holy land for the last 600 years. Tsem Rinpoche visited Tibet for the first time with an oxygen tank. I am fortunate to visit this holy place with my Dharma brothers and sisters years back.
With our Guru blessing we went without any without any hitch. Visited most of the monasteries and could feel the powerful energies there. Looking at those pictures in this blog reminds me of trip there.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

Interesting….. a ground breaking documentary by world BBC where everyone should watch. BBC did mentioned and documented that Jesus was a Buddhist monk and that he had spent some years in India. I would not know about this till I came across this blog. Many people most probably too. Interesting watch one should not miss. Jesus was a religious leader revered in Christianity, one of the world’s major religions. He is regarded by most Christians as the Incarnation of God. Historical evidence indicates that Jesus was well acquainted with Buddhism. Historical evidence indicates that Jesus knew about Buddhism. Other evidence, while perhaps apocryphal, indicates that he spent most of his so-called lost years outside Judea, possibly in Kashmir to study Buddhism exclusively.

The Great Buddhas of Bamiyan were two monumental Buddhist statues built around 600 CE. A holy site for Buddhists on the Silk Road, historically a caravan route linking the markets of China with those of the Western world. The two most prominent statues were the giant standing sculptures of the Buddhas .It was the site of several Buddhist monasteries where monks at the monasteries lived as hermits. It was until in 2001, both statues were destroyed by the Taliban . Before being blown up in 2001, they were the largest examples of standing Buddha carvings in the world .Buddhism was eliminated in Afghanistan by the 13th century during the Mongol conquests. Sadly all statues depicting humans in Afghanistan was destroyed. They were perhaps the most famous cultural landmarks of the region, and the site was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Despite the Buddhas’s destruction, the ruins continue to be a popular culture landmark, where many locals, pilgrims and tourist visit the site.

Ven. Kyabje Yongyal Rinpoche was born in Eastern Tibet, recognized as the fourth reincarnation of Kyabje Yongyal Rinpoche. Well he was known for his purity in holding his vinaya vows. Even though he left Tibet in 1959 and settled in India, he had inspired, and supported the Sangha community, working tirelessly giving teachings at Sera Monastery in India . He also continued in protecting, preserving and propagating the Buddhadharma all over the world. H E Tsem Rinpoche first met him about 15 years in Sera Monastery and the last time in Gaden Monastery. Kyabje Yongyal Rinpoche knew that Tsem Rinpoche in New York back in 2013 and decided to meet up with Rinpoche. Looking at those beautiful photos tells all . Its truly rejoiced moment .

The general preliminaries are the four contemplations on precious human body, impermanence and death, cause and effect of karma, and the defects of samsara. The special preliminaries are taking refuge, arousing bodhicitta, the recitation and meditation of Vajrasattva, mandala offerings, and guru yoga. The purpose of life is to benefit other sentient beings and the greatest benefit we can offer them is to liberate them from their suffering and its causes. We have to purify all the negative karma and defilements we have collected over our beginning-less rebirths and accumulate extensive merit. These are the conditions necessary for us to actualize the path. Well we have received just this once the most precious human life ,we have to make our life as meaningful as possible. The purpose of doing preliminary practices is for us to purify obstacles to achieving realizations of the path to enlightenment for the sake of all sentient beings. I am still doing my best .
Great sharing thank you Rinpoche and Pastor David for this important write up .

The Heart Sutra teaches emptiness through the epitome of compassion. It is often said that, the heart of emptiness is compassion. It’s an attribute by which we sees the suffering of another and experiences true empathy for them. This empathy, in turn, leads the person to reach out and share in the person’s suffering. By helping them to endure whatever they are going through regardless of race and religion. Our prime purpose in this life is to help and benefit others. Well if we can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them. Treat others as we would like others to treat us. Always wish upon others and showing kindness to those who are feeling sad or upset to help them feel better. Lend a shoulder to them to lean on. Emptiness can be explored through meditation and contemplation. By observing the impermanence and interdependence of all things, we can gradually come to understand the true nature of reality. We have to understand the actual words of the Heart Sutra and its meaning within the Buddhist tradition as well as the meanings of emptiness. Will revisit this blog to read, learn more .
Thank you Rinpoche for this profound teachings.

The concept of Dharma is considered to be accessible and applicable to everyone, regardless of their religious background. Dharma, in its essence, is about understanding and living in accordance with universal principles of righteousness and ethical conduct. The core of the doctrine of dharma, especially in Buddhism, is about understanding the nature of suffering, the cause of suffering, the possibility of ending suffering, and the path to liberation through ethical conduct, mindfulness, and wisdom. Dharma is the essential teachings to transform our mind towards that of an enlightened being. Learning and putting what we learn into practice helped us to become a better person. Dharma is for everyone, reading those stories as in the blog give us a clear understanding. Nor matter what religion we are , we are taught to be loving, compassion and living peacefully.
Thank you Rinpoche for these great teachings.

Generosity is giving more than we can, and pride is taking less than we need. Giving is an action; generosity is a matter of the heart. Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present. Sharing one’s resources and helping others in need. We have not lived today until we have done something for someone who can never repay you. A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.

n Buddhism, Dharma refers to the teachings of the Buddha and the true nature of reality. It also encompasses principles like the Eightfold Path, which guides individuals towards enlightenment and liberation from suffering. A Dharma attitude involves fulfilling one’s responsibilities and duties towards oneself, others, and the environment. Dharma work helps us to focus on benefiting others instead of ourselves. Each one of us has different ideas, approaches and methods to do dharma work. As long as its benefits others and
taking responsibility for our own actions transforming others with love and generosity. It is important to embrace our imperfections as embracing puts us on a better path of acceptance and self-discovery.

Buddhism is one of the most ancient belief systems and is practiced today by nearly 350 million people around the world.
Bettany Mary Hughes is an English historian, author, and broadcaster, specialising in classical history. Bettany Hughes travelled to the seven wonders of the Buddhist world. Where she documented a unique insight into the seven wonders that explained the long and rich history of Buddhism 2500 years ago . Truly fascinating documentary that’s one should watch. Started off her journey with Bodh Gaya in India, the Bodanath Stupa in Nepal, the Temple of The Tooth in Sri Lanka, Wat Pho Temple in Thailand, Angkor Wat in Cambodia, the Giant Buddha in Hong Kong and the Hsi Lai Temple in the United States. At each location, she meets with Buddhist scholars who explain the different concepts that form the core of Buddhist philosophy, giving insight into the long and rich history of Buddhism. Interesting sharing.
    Thank you Rinpoche.

Famous as a sharp analyst and master of philosophical debate, as well as a powerful Tantric practitioner. Rinpoche traveling tremendously to many monasteries, doing rituals, and giving many initiations, transmissions and commentaries, and instruction in the profound and extensive dharma . As in this blog Kyabje Zong Rinpoche explains on many rare and precious teachings. Thousands of Westerners have received teachings from him, both in the West and in India. Religious discrimination remains a significant issue globally, impacting various aspects of life. The Dorje Shugden controversy in Tibetan Buddhism involves accusations of religious discrimination against devotees of the Poweful Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. Dorje Shugden was a powerful Protector associated with the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. H H the Dalai Lama previously practice Dorje Shugden’s practice but somehow later discouraged the practice, citing concerns about sectarianism ,its perceived role as a spirit. Dorje Shugden’s practitioners have reported feeling ostracized and discriminated against by the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) and those supporting the Dalai Lama. The controversy has divided the Tibetan community and has been a source of contention and tension. CTA had breached the rights of every Dorje Shugden practitioners to what they pray . Many families are torn apart by this. Dorje Shugden people had to break away from their monasteries .Religious freedom and human rights are interconnected. Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion regardless of race and faith. Religious freedom is one of the most fundamental of human rights. The discrimination that Dorje Shugden practitioners are experiencing today has similarities to other historic bigotry and prejudices such example was the African American Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s,and the Women’s Suffrage Movement. Racism affects virtually every country in the world. It denies people their full human rights just because of their colour, race, ethnicity, descent or national origin. The most prevalent discrimination that we see today are national origin and race discrimination. May there be peace, unity, harmony and based on compassion, acceptance and universal freedom of religious choice without discrimination or recriminations of any kind.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

The Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala, India is said to be thousands of years old, built in the Dravidian style, and houses more secrets than most people can ever dream of. That’s interesting. This temple is a legendary secret chamber that has remained unopened for centuries. Legends and local beliefs it is protected by powerful deities and a curse. The door is said to be sealed with a mystical spell, and it is believed that anyone attempting to open it without proper rituals will face grave consequences, having met with mysterious deaths or terrible misfortune. Locals had warns that attempting to open Vault B without proper rituals and respect for the deities could unleash untold calamities and misfortune. Stories abound of previous attempts to open the vault had failed that resulted in terrifying visions and other supernatural occurrences, and tragic fates for those involved. Some believe that the vault contained ancient treasures , wealth and divine relics . Previously temple workers reportedly tried to force open the door, resulting in the terrifying experiences described in legends. It’s not just a place of worship but also a vault of mysteries. Modern attempts using technology have also failed to open the door, as if some force is protecting it. Every attempt to open Vault B has failed. The door remains closed, and no one know of the contents within, whether wealth, divine relics, or something else entirely, are unknown to the world . No one dare to try opening it since at least the 1880s recording to reports. Interesting article .
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

Revisit this interesting truth where not many people knew the actual story behind . With great effort and research finally the story unfolded. In Tibet, Oracles play, an important part in principal roles assisting governmental decision-making and providing intelligence revelation, religion, doctrine, and prophecy. To this day the Tibetan government still believe and rely in Nechung Oracle. When Nechung oracle took trance, it is actually spirit Nyatrul who has causes problems and misprophecies. Nechung is bound by oath to protect the Dharma. Nechung prophecies are unreliable, most probably given by Nyatrul spirit to the Tibetan government. Such as wrong medication given to the 13 th Dalai Lama as prescribed by the Nechung Oracle. Another misprophecies was during the British invasion. If it was really Nechung who took trance of the Oracle, these types of misprophecies would not have happen. As mentioned in the 6th Dalai Lama biography, we cannot trust or rely on Nechung’s prophecies. It was said that Nyatrul not Nechung who created the problems and harm to Dorje Shugden . It must have told HH the Dalai Lama to ban Dorje Shugden .
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor Jean Ai for this interesting article.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
