Overview
Kura first opened it’s doors in July 2007. Located in One World Hotel, Bandar Utama, every aspect of Kura definitely meets the standards of a Five star hotel. Kura has a unique design to it’s interior and is reputed for serving one of the best Authentic Japanese cuisine in town.
Kura serves a wide variety of Japanese cuisine and brings only the best dishes from the Land of the Rising sun to the Malaysian crowd. With a restaurant set up that is modern and yet without losing the beauty of the Japanese culture in interior, food quality and service; many find their visit to Kura most memorable and satisfying.
Reviewer’s Ratings
Interior – 4/5
Just like any other diner located in a Five star hotel, Kura certainly have a taste of finer interior. It is unpretentious, comfortable and yet aesthetically pleasing. What makes the restaurant unique is that one feels like they’ve just entered a maze! Areas are partitioned to give privacy to their patrons. The lighting gives the place a very cosy feel, however it can be a little dim in certain places.
Food – 4/5
The master chefs certainly lives up to their name with their presentation and taste! The Avocado Tempura Roll stood out the most, eating it with the ginger pickles brings out the taste! Just remember to inform the waiter to have the fish flakes removed! Another great selection is the Nano Tempura (deep fried green vegetable) which is newly added on the menu. Kura serves very delicious Tempuras, it is not oily and deep fried at the right temperature. For desert, don’t forget to order Itachoco (fish-shaped vanilla ice-cream with a slice of chocolate inside!). This is one desert you should never miss during every visit to Kura.
Avocado Tempura Roll | Agedashi Tofu |
Sukiyaki | Yasai Tempura |
Shimeji Karaage | Nano Tempura |
Edamame | Itachoco |
Pricing – 4/5
With a price range of RM 8 – RM 35 for the vegetarian selections, it is definitely reasonable pricing for dining in a Five star hotel that serves delicious authentic Japanese cuisine.
Vegetarian Selection – 3/5
Some people say that vegetarians will have limited choices for Japanese cuisine. Fortunately, Kura proved that statement wrong and provided a wide variety of vegetarian-friendly choices.
Service – 4/5
When it comes to the Japanese, their service is always the best and unbeatable. They are fast, efficient, and most importantly attentive to their customer’s needs and wants. Despite the maze-like interior of the restaurant, the staff in Kura is very efficient.

i absolutely love japanese food… many of my friends think japanese food is only about sushi with fish and meat and sashimi, tepanyakki chicken, tempura prawns… but for me i love kappa maki (cucumber sushi) and the cold soba noodles and edamame beans the most so i have no problems going to japanese restaurants. Guys, if you have a date who is vegetarian and whom you want to impress (without hurting your pocket too much), bring her to Kura 😉
I love Japanese foods 🙂 This restaurant provide many type of vegetarian foods also. Who say can’t go Japanese restaurant often ?! We can’t say NO to be vegetarian 😀 Is looks classy and comfortable!
Wow, the presentation is so nice. Even a vegetarian can also frequent a Japanese restaurant!
Even Japanese restaurant serve vegetarian food! What is the reason for us not becoming vegetarian…hehehe
The food here is great!
Most of the time I’ll order Yasai Tempura if happen to be in Japanese restaurant because I love fried food.
The Avacado Tempura Roll look delicious!
The environment look classy…..
Nice place to dine in for our vegetarian friend!
I ate there before I was vegetarian and have not dare to go since becoming one… don’t want to tempt myself with their shashimi and shushis… Now I am relieve to find vegetarian dishes that I still can enjoy. Mmm when my (rich, hehe..) cousin is back to Malaysia, I can still join her for a nice din din there 🙂
