This is so funny!!!

Dear friends,

What do you think of this? I find it funny and at the same time ‘logical’ and ‘sensible’. You must read and share with others. If anything you will have a good laugh and end up LOVING this Japanese doctor!!

Tsem Rinpoche

*************

Love this Japanese Doctor!
Q: Doctor, I’ve heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Heart only good for so many beats, and that it…… Don’t waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: Oh no. Wine made from fruit. Fruit very good. Brandy distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Grain good too. Bottom up!

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can’t think of one, sorry. My philosophy: No pain…good!

Q: Aren’t fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU NOT LISTENING! Food fried in vegetable oil. How getting more vegetable be bad?

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: You crazy?!? HEL-LO-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming good for figure, explain whale to me.

Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! ‘Round’ is shape!

Well… I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

And remember:

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways – Chardonnay in one hand – chocolate in the other – body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO-HOO, what a ride!!”

AND……

For those of you who watch what you eat, here’s the final word on nutrition and health. It’s a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Brits.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Brits.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Brits.
4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Brits.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Brits.

CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Lol, this is so funny. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article. I guess it gives everyone a new perspective about living and eating healthily. Well, ultimately I think we just need to find a balance on what we are eat, exercise, work, think and do, to stay healthy. Happy mind, happy body 🙂

Very funny…. A good laugh heals a lot of hurts. Funny jokes made us smiles and laughter can make your days sparkle with happiness.
Funny Japanese Doctor really so funny but do made sense really.
Thank you Rinpoche…i have a good laugh after reading and did learned some knowledge from the facts. To live good ,with good foods and do good in whatever where. They dedicate themselves to what gives their life meaning and purpose.
    Thanks again.

  4. Stella Cheang on Mar 21, 2017 at 12:29 pm

Thank you, Rinpoche, for a good laugh! Indeed. Joke aside, the key of what happens to us is our karma, even what we eat and do have some impact. More importantly, it is what we do with our life and how we make an impact on others that counts at the end of the day. Looking like sleeping beauty with our organs in prime conditions at our dying bed will not gain us an open ticket to a good rebirth. 🙂

  5. Denise Kuek on Apr 6, 2014 at 6:01 pm

I laughed..This is funny and weird..by the way, I still feel that watching what I eat is important for me, erm..that is no right and wrong, just what is your perception of healthy and unhealthy..

  6. Girlie OOI on Nov 7, 2013 at 4:49 pm

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming good for figure, explain whale to me.

What can I say? I am still laughing till I tear.
Now to get myself a bar of chocolate.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this funny post. This Japanese doctor really funny, especially he answer this question: –
” Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming good for figure, explain whale to me.”
Really made me laugh loud out!!

  12. sweekeong on Sep 20, 2013 at 4:38 pm

This doctor is very hilarious. It is very funny, a laugh out loud. Why would a doctor encourage his patients to take food that is unhealthy and causes them more sickness?

We know what is ‘right’ for us. We don’t follow a doctor’s advises although admittedly we can agree his advise are beneficial for us? We ourselves know food that are beneficial and those that are not. Yet we choose to eat the opposite, stuffing snacks, man-made drinks, whatever junk into our own body. And we want a healthy body?

On second thought do we not trust the doctor? Why would we agreed that doctors are right? In a sense we know that a doctor is always concern with his patients and would give beneficial advises to them. Therefore it becomes ‘funny’ when a doctor do the opposite of what we believe him supposed to be doing which is to render good advises. Is it funny when a patient do the opposite, getting sick because of not taking care of his health? No, we would think he or she is foolish because it is common sense.

Keeping that it mind the guru gives good advises for every one of us. He is a doctor of our mind, our spiritual well being. A guru, therefore, is always concern with his students and would give beneficial advises to them. Therefore it becomes a foolish behaviour if one choose to do the opposite just like a patient did the opposite of what a doctor advises.

Hence you cannot find the advises from a guru that is ‘funny’ just like the advises from a doctor that is ‘funny’. This is because when the advises from a doctor become funny we know that this is what we usually do to our body. In the same way when the advises from a guru become funny we know that this is what we usually engage in daily. When the doctor said don’t take this food, it is bad, we are grateful for his advise. Therefore when the guru said don’t do this action, don’t think this way, it is bad, we must be grateful as well.

  13. Albert Ratchaga on Sep 19, 2013 at 8:52 pm

    I specially like this statement:

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways – Chardonnay in one hand – chocolate in the other – body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO-HOO, what a ride!!”

It is so true that many people has been very careful with their body and so much attachment to a good looking body. But if you have good body and not meaningful life, then what’s the point? A good looking / shape body will wear off one day, and if that day comes, we will be suffered for not able to maintain it again. Or even when we have good looking body, that doesn’t mean we will not die, or have sickness, we will still have illness like other people, there is no difference.

So why bother so much and spend so much effort and time to maintain a body when it is not putting into good use. We should focus out and not focus in.

Thanks Rinpoche for the sharing. Sometimes we need to think out of the box too.

  15. Jutika Lam on Sep 17, 2013 at 10:11 pm

    Dear Rinpoche,

Hehe, This post is really funny!!! It is really hilarious and it does make quite a lot of sense to me.

To me it is not what you eat or drink but how much of that food/drink people actually eat/drink.. for example drinking to much beer makes you drunk but drinking a can of beer doesn’t make you drunk.

It is really witty and sensible.

    Thank you Rinpoche for sharing!

    Love
    Jutika

  16. So Kin Hoe (Ipoh) on Sep 16, 2013 at 11:36 pm

This doctor really works out of the box and aiming the questions with his answers simply but be made the true sense. Good for a long laugh! haha..

  17. Jennifer Yuen on Sep 16, 2013 at 1:33 am

Been seeing this blog post shared on Facebook… was expecting it to be funny when I read it, but not to this extreme… it’s hilarious! Love every bit of it.. Thanks for sharing it Rinpoche. I no longer need to think twice when I decide to have my second helping of chocolate of the day 🙂

  18. Low Khjb on Sep 15, 2013 at 9:58 pm

Thank you for the sharing Rinpoche. Well said by this Japanese doctor,as we must take everything in life at moderation.Do not get obsess or attached to a life style that we are uncomfortable with. Which is dictated by other society.
But still,I would think that this doctor need to update his medical knowledge. His preception of the old school of medicine is rather dangerous.

  19. tenzin llhamo on Sep 15, 2013 at 6:37 pm

LOL… This is so funny. So fun to have a doctor like that. Everything is good for health and he jokes!Thank you Rinpoche for the jokes!

All of them are funny but this one caught my attention

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming good for figure, explain whale to me.

    It was HILARIOUS!

“Hey! ‘Round’ is shape!” – my favourite part… LOL

  22. wansan on Sep 15, 2013 at 3:11 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this funny article. The Japanese doctor is indeed hilarious. But isn’t that what we all would like to hear? Love the conclusion : Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

  23. Cliff on Sep 15, 2013 at 4:14 am

Haha this is hilarious, I’ve seen this on the web before. It was certainly a good laugh and some how some of the facts put forward by the doctor seemed rather ‘logical’ as Rinpoche says. Thank you for sharing Rinpoche.

  24. VInnie Tan on Sep 14, 2013 at 2:47 am

This is just so cute and funny at the same time. The sense of humour from this doctor is just unbelievable. Hehe! If every doctor is like that, I believe there would be many “round” shapes walking everywhere.

  25. Karen Chong on Sep 14, 2013 at 1:31 am

This is too funny! yet there’s great wisdom behind it. Like what Rinpoche has said before:” your life is yours to live” i guess this can be implemented in the sense that why care about what others think or say about yourself? Just be honest to yourself and not be stereotyped by what the society wants you to be.

  26. Julien Roth on Sep 13, 2013 at 11:32 pm

This is so funny! I love how it does make sense and at the same time it doesn’t. I love this! And i also like how you can read the text and still be able to detect the accent of this doctor, i found that one of the funny parts of this. Thank you so much for sharing.

  27. jimmy tan on Sep 13, 2013 at 4:00 pm

    感谢您忍波切经常和我们分享这么多好文章。这位日本医生非常的幽默。我想在地球上没有有几个了。这篇文章就像在繁忙的工作来个可kitkat巧克力呵呵。

  28. Choi Sheem on Sep 13, 2013 at 3:46 pm

Thank you for featuring this article. The Japanese doctor is very hilarious yet the facts are true. He has a different way of viewing life as a whole. After reading this, I won’t feel so guilty to help myself to more chocolates.

  29. Patsy on Sep 13, 2013 at 2:21 pm

This is funny!hahaha i love this doctor…now i dont have to exercise and watch what I eat!!! Thank you, Rinpoche for sharing.

  30. May Ong on Sep 13, 2013 at 11:25 am

I really like the advice given by this Japanese doctor. A lot that he said made logical sense to me.

We don’t have to carry our beautifully sculptured body in our death bed either when we can’t take the body with us. Why do we even want to suffer so much then? After all, life is full of “samsaric suffering” as it is. So just eat wisely!

  31. Jessica Yap on Sep 13, 2013 at 1:04 am

HAHA What a funny article!!!! Really made me laugh out loud!! ahhah this is my favourite part:

“Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways – Chardonnay in one hand – chocolate in the other – body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO-HOO, what a ride!!” ”

I love how it is such a light reading but has a good meaning behind it. At the end of the day, as long as our body is healthy, and we are benefiting other lives with our existence, that is most important. We already created the karma to have the present body. Why not stop dwelling on ‘perfecting’ it and do something meaningful and beneficial with it instead?

We shouldn’t be so attached on how we should look when our body is just another ‘host’/’vehicle’ for our conscious? Our body could expiry any single second now, so just live well and make our live a useful one! =)

Thank you very much for sharing, Rinpoche!

  32. Pavara on Sep 12, 2013 at 10:50 pm

Hahaha this is a very funny post but it is also logical.
Wine is not actually good for your health but what the doctor said is sensible(because wine is made from grape but it also has alcohol)
This doctor is really mixed up he thinks that just because vegetable or fruits inside means it is great for health.
Honestly if you asked me what sort of doctor he is i would say he has half gone nuts and half logical doctor.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this post.

  33. Han on Sep 12, 2013 at 10:11 pm

Ha ha, this is funny ,especially from a doctor’s point of view.
    I like this one
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: Oh no. Wine made from fruit. Fruit very good. Brandy distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Grain good too. Bottom up!

Personally think that sometime we still need to watch what we eat, especially when we are sick or having some critical illness..

Thank you Rinpoche for this interesting post.

  34. Wei Theng on Sep 12, 2013 at 9:55 pm

    Thanks Rinpoche for sharing!

  35. Lt Loo on Sep 12, 2013 at 9:25 pm

It made me feel so good now after reading this, regarding my extra vegetable intake, hey! tobacco is vegetable too!!! On the second thought I think the Jap doctor will disagree with this one! : (

  36. Edward Ooi on Sep 12, 2013 at 8:09 pm

Dear Rinpoche, this Japanese doctor is hilarious. His opinion are just about drinking more beer or wine, eating more fried food, don’t have exercise much and sleep more. I agree to the last one, sleep more. Sleeping is good for our body but I don’t think doing the three other stuffs on above is good for your health and when the doctor said that Japaneses , Mexicans, Chinese ,Italians and Germans suffer less heart attack then the Brits is maybe because they eat consume too much of meat and they don’t as much wines as the Italians do.

  37. Datuk May on Sep 12, 2013 at 5:54 pm

So funny, but on the serious side, how much more deceptions have been imprinted on our minds.

What I like best is that ”life should NOT be a journey to the grave………………………………….” Wonderfully illustrated.

  38. adelinewoon on Sep 12, 2013 at 5:26 pm

A good knock on my dull mind! Perception and holding onto a certain views sure won’t bring us far in life. Thank you Rinpoche for the teachings in such a funny way!

  39. Shelly tai on Sep 12, 2013 at 4:51 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this blog post . Is very entertaining when read on it but whatever he said it make sense , so I thing is good to know fat is not something bad exercise too much might not be good I moderation is the best.

  40. Sofi on Sep 12, 2013 at 4:33 pm

What a funny doctor! Those who have him as their doctor are sure to enjoy their food more. Thanks Rinpoche for this cheer up article.

  41. Uncle Eddie on Sep 12, 2013 at 3:07 pm

Yes, I fully agree to what Ming Hy has witten. Sportsmen and women have the most well-looked after bodies in health but doesn’t mean they can live longer. The Japanese doctor is not weird, neither is he nutty. He is truly a realist though humourisly intelligient! So is Rinpoche who shared with us this blog to make our day!

  42. Andrew James Boon on Sep 12, 2013 at 2:59 pm

LOL… This is hilarious! However jokes aside, it truly illustrates how wit and play on words can be used to give something a completely different context.

We should be mindful of the words we use as it has repercussions if not used well.

  43. Doreen Teoh on Sep 12, 2013 at 2:42 pm

I particularly love the part on the swimming, the round shape…so funny…thank you for sharing Rinpoche. It lights up the day.

  44. Choo Weng Loong on Sep 12, 2013 at 2:35 pm

Hahaha really funny doctor , advocating totally opposite actions , thanks for sharing Rinpoche , actions seem familiar though

  45. Pastor Han Nee on Sep 12, 2013 at 1:49 pm

It’s so so funny, but it’s also poking fun at people who think that anything and everything is to be accepted as ‘good’ and the ‘truth’ as long as you can logically prove it. When we see how scientists and mathematicians try to use logic to prove how the world came into being, it’s kind of fuzzy and skewed.

  46. Ming HY on Sep 12, 2013 at 12:40 pm

Ha ha ha! Very amusing, but very true in some aspects. Athletes don’t necessarily live longer. Thanks Rinpoche for lightening my day!

  47. Choongs on Sep 12, 2013 at 12:19 pm

LOL reminds me of another language/logic joke I have heard.

If vegetarians eat vegetables, what do humanitarians eat?

  48. CK Siah on Sep 12, 2013 at 10:54 am

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this Funny Dialog.

  49. Pastor Yek Yee on Sep 12, 2013 at 10:17 am

Ya, it’s true, we always receiving all kinds of health researches/reports without much thinking…

  52. henrylai on Sep 12, 2013 at 7:15 am

  53. AdelineTan on Sep 12, 2013 at 1:49 am

Hahaha! This is really funny, the doctor was very wise. I agree that we should eat what we like and what we want, if i’m gonna die tomorrow I don’t want to be in a nice shape. There’s nothing wrong being fat, it’s not like we are against the law or something. But of course we still have to eat wisely, or sometimes it may cause obesity which is not good for us. My mum is always controlling my diet, but when she’s not at home…Muahahaha! The chocolates in the refrigerator are mine! Hehe..( I love you mama xx)

  58. Sean Wang on Sep 11, 2013 at 9:39 pm

This is extremely funny. Thank you for sharing this. Sometimes, what seems to be real isn’t true. My favourite is this one, “Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake? A: Oh no. Wine made from fruit. Fruit very good. Brandy distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Grain good too. Bottom up!”

Voyage to the Colossus of Rhodes

In school, I remember we had a competition to make anything we wanted with the sole condition that it had to use LED lights. It was around the time that out of all the various figures of ancient Greek mythology, my fascination with Medusa was at its highest. Her story is an interesting one. She was once a beautiful maiden who, cursed by the goddess Athena, was made to look so terrible that the mere sight of her would turn anyone to stone. Over time her anger overtook her and she became a scourge, plaguing mankind. The demi-god Perseus slayed her and used her dreadful head to turn to stone monsters, beasts and other men alike in his self-serving yet glorified journey which ended with the founding of the ancient city-state Mycenae.

Growing up with Rinpoche: Putting down roots

Rinpoche is never interested in secular activities just for the sake of it, but always uses his knowledge, interest and experience to see how he can improve the lives of those around him and how he can bring Kechara Forest Retreat (KFR) to the next level in terms of serving others. So for Rinpoche, a vegetable farm is not just a vegetable farm, but an activity that can bring Dharma to others.

Find out what exciting plans that Rinpoche has: http://bit.ly/32NjBsV

Over the years reading Rinpoche blog’s post , I have come across many true stories of how Rinpoche has helped countless of students and people in their career, sickness, business and so forth. Reading this post story is really amazing how relying on Setrap Protector and having trust and faith in our Guru has help Dato Eric Tan in his business . Dato’ Eric Tan’s achievements today is truly amazing all due his trust and never give up what ever happened.
Thank you Pastor Loh Seng Piow for this sharing. May more people read this post and be inspired.

Heartfelt watching the beginning of the video. Could imagine the fear the furry Edie encountered, so much so hiding at the corner. Edie was so scared and just needed is a hug and pad from some kind soul . Bronwyne Mirkovich is so compassionate , kind for saving Edie’s life. Thank you too Edie Gobbie from the American Maltese Association for helping with this wonderful project to rescue animals. Life is so precious nor matter what it is , it is still a life……human or doggie. Dogs are our best friends, never harm, abuse or hurt them.
Thank you Rinpoche for this wonderful sharing.

Thank you Rinpoche and blog team for sharing this auspicious post with us. It is amazing that Kechara has the chance to make such offerings to the high lamas and monks in the monastery. This is a clear example of the generosity of Rinpoche that wishes each and every one of us to adopt.

Making offerings to the sangha is very meritorious and we can collect a lot of merit with such actions because we are directly supporting the growth of Dharma and those high lamas are Buddhas. Seeing such pictures warms my heart and I rejoice to see those happy faces of those monks who received those very much needed offerings.

Wow ….. there have been so many UFO sightings in so many different countries. There are altogether eight UFO sightings within 10 days witnessed by people across the globe. They saw shiny unidentified flying objects flying past in the sky as reported. Very interesting….. strange object sparked theories of possible extra terrestrial sightings and they do definitely exist after all. Many UFO sightings have been reported in the last decades yet scientist or researchers yet to confirm the details or evidence to proof it. But the strange sightings in different countries at the same month could not be wrong as we know “they’ have been watching at the earth from some where up there.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing …..simple amazing caught on camera by those eye witness.

There may have been a chance for a civilization to start billions of years before life began on Earth as discovered by scientists. Several discoveries and theories from some of the greatest minds in science point to the likelihood that there is something beyond out there in the universe. I do believe that we are not alone in the universe. Well, there many on going research that has taken place to look for signs of extra terrestrial life such as aliens. Scientist have been using telescope and specimen data to radios to detect and send communication signals. Currently, scientist do not have any evidence to support that aliens exist but the research work still going on with the discovery of a varieties of beings in the universal . Stories of the sighting of aliens and other species by eye witnesses yet to proof their existence. Researcher and scientists have not given up hope to research for evidence. Interesting read .
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

Buddha Manjushri is very compassionate. He will manifest in the forms that can benefit us. In this case, he manifested as an enlightened Dharma protector to help us remove our obstacles so we can practise and have realiation on Buddha’s teachings.

I have read many stories about how Dorje Shugden has helped people including Tsem Rinpoche. Kechara is growing and flourishing because of the assistance from Dorje Shugden. As long as our motivation is right, Dorje Shugden will provide a conducive environment to fulfil our wishes.

A Personal Account of Events with My Teacher – Honouring the Potential in All Sentient Beings

Rinpoche’s bond with animals is even more palpable. Abandoned dogs find not only shelter but a loving home wherever Rinpoche is. Injured and unwanted birds find healing and a safe haven created to resemble their natural habitat. Fish are given clean, pure water and plenty of food. Even insects are not forgotten. Most important of all, their surroundings are designed to leave positive Dharma imprints in their mind streams and help them gain good rebirths.

    My mother’s White Tara

The previous Telo Rinpoche had lived in Mongolia and during the Communist upheaval in his country, he was imprisoned along with many other monks and religious figures. Telo Rinpoche prayed to this image of White Tara, which he had with him and in the middle of the night, his cell doors miraculously swung open and he was able to just walk out. Later, with the help of some American scientists, he escaped and travelled to the United States where he connected with the Mongolian-Kalmyk community there, which included my parents.

Stories from a Chela – Real Transformation

“Rinpoche’s drive to create a lasting mental change in a person’s life is nothing but pure compassion. Rinpoche certainly doesn’t get anything out of the person changing to become a better person, in fact, it often takes an emotional and physical toll on Rinpoche himself. Yet, Rinpoche goes out of his way to help his students and others to the best of his ability. Rinpoche does this in a number of ways, I’ll only touch on a few” ~ Pastor Niral Patel

Searching for the Loch Ness Monster

“As a child, I remember sitting next to my dad watching TV and some of the only programmes that my dad actually enjoyed were documentaries. My dad loves learning about things, whether it be building something, handicraft, or even about the natural environment or mythological creatures. One of my earliest memories is of watching a documentary about the famed Loch Ness Monster, affectionately called Nessie.” ~ Pastor Niral Patel

Thank you for sharing this article on Lama Zopa and his view on Dorje Shugden practice. Lama Zopa himself has given up Dorje Shugden practice but he did not say other Lamas who are still practising Dorje Shugden is wrong.

I think Lama Zopa is trying to tell everyone it is important to follow the instruction of one’s guru. When we view our guru as a Buddha, he cannot be wrong. Therefore, whatever practice he gives us cannot be wrong. From our side, we have to follow the instruction diligently.

Wow…..interesting read and watch those videos. It might be scary to some. I always find stories related to ghost , paranormal and mysteries interesting even though at times scary too. In folklore, a ghost is the soul or spirit of a dead person or animal that can appear to the living. All cultures around the world after all do believe in spirits as that those unseen beings survive death to live in another lower realm. Yes I too believed they do exist, do no harm , they will also do harm to us. What we can do to help the unseen being is by doing prayers for them to set them free. Well despite the rise of science, social media and public education many still do believe that the presence of wandering ghosts during ghost month can cause accidents to the living.
Interesting watch , thank you for this sharing.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
