Aung San Suu Kyi is one of the world leaders i admired most. Her political career interests me because of her courageous and determination to bring peace to her people.I do enjoyed reading all books about her since i was younger.
Its wonderful that the former US President Barack Obama and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton did visited her in september 2016 just before he stepped down.Obama’s historic visit to Burma is meant to show America’s support for the country’s transition to democracy. Obama being the first US president to visit Myanmar.It’s been truly remarkable to see the changes that have taken hold in Burma in recent years.

Aung San Suu Kyi is such a great inspiration. She lives for others, she care about human right of everyone is her country. The visit of Obama and the secretary definitely add on more positive energy for the right acts.
I like what Obama said in the end of his speech:” Clearly, you will be playing a key role in your country’s future for many years to come as Burma seeks the freedom and the prosperity and the dignity that not only the people of this country deserve but people all around the world deserve.”
May all country’s leaders taking care of their people in this direction.
World Peace
Aung San Suu Kyi won the hearts of people around the world for what she stood for – peaceful mean to gain peace for her country. Do we need weapons to win a war or go into a war just to make a statement? Peace can be achieved through peaceful means, like Aung San Suu Kyi. Bravo!

From a news report, as part of a broader administrative policy to step up US involvements across the Asia-Pacific region, historical visits by US high ranking dignitaries are seen commonly done to deepen engagement and more openness by USA government. Even during the time when Aung San Suu Kyi was under house arrest by her own Military government, a historicsl visit was made by Hilary Clinton, representing the First step by a secretary of state as a way to deepen engagement and more openness in the country. Such a move could have inspired and moved Aung San Suu Kyi very deeply, as until today she is still working very hard to make her country a more better place for the benefit of her people. What a Bodhisattva she really is!
Its just incredible how much this lady has come to inspire the world with the fortitude and selflessness in protecting her countrymen. I watched the movie and I was quite touched by her compassion.
What I really like about her story is not just her sacrifice but also her other human qualities of fear and vulnerability that she is not afraid to reveal and embrace. It is her care for others that won the day and not her fear. That’s what makes her so great. In world where female leaders are rare and far in between, she has truly risen and she must have made her father really proud if he was still alive. I think she makes us all proud for her especially her recent acceptance of the Nobel Peace prize.
What an incredible inspiration for all of us. And another aspect that I am really proud of is the fact that she draw incredible strength from Buddhism. She has said this and she shares this with the world. It is great that such public figure shares their spiritual inspiration because that will bring many to the Dharma. She is such a beautiful person within and without.
Aung San Suu Kyi, I truly admire her strength of which she says she harness from her Buddhist believes. I find her so inspirational that I even read her biography and watch a movie about her! And I must admit I’m not much of a non-fiction reader!
She truly is an empowering woman. Now, one of the most powerful leaders of the world is visiting her in her own homeland! The show of mutual respect between these two great individuals, I must say, through Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma will have a brighter future.
Aung San Suu Kyi is respected round the world for her perseverance, dedication and selflessness – qualities i believe she developed from her being a Buddhist. Her ability to put aside attachment for her husband and family for her cause is also another quality which is Buddhist. It is no wonder that Rinpoche respects this lady because Rinpoche and Aung San Suu Kyi share much of the same qualities, even though their objectives are different; Rinpoche’s is for Dharma, while Aung San Suu Kyi is for her country.
I hope Burma will achieve democracy soon and Aung San Suu Kyi lives to see it.

What made Aung San Suu Kyi take this stance, to give her life for the cause? Most of us do not live in such politically unrest country but nevertheless, chaos exists all around us no matter where we are. What stance would we take to bring about peace and harmony? We each have our opportunity to make a difference in our world.
Aung San Suu Kyi said “the most difficult time in any transition is when we think that success is in sight…”, this reminds me of we are more focus and concentrate when we are walking on bumpy and difficult road, rather than a smooth and flat road.
We tend to relax ourself when life is smooth and easy.
Burma and her people may be is far from having good times; or its politics or economic is on the smooth road, there are always challenges after another. With US President’s visit it does not mean Burma will become a rich or developed country ever after, in fact a lot of challenges are waiting in front for all to face with. However one thing for sure, everything is moving towards to be become a free and democratic country.
I pray that Burma and her people will always be blessed.

Aung San Suu Kyi has not allowed recognition to divert them or delude themselves into success. (“we have to be v careful that we are not lured by a mirage of success”) What an amazing insight. The patience, beliefs and commitment that a peaceful method is the best way to lead Myanmar to democracy has shown the world that non violence can be a powerful tool. May Myanmar quickly achieve its dreams without losing its Buddhist practices.
I admire this two person a lot, both of them believes strongly what they aspire to be and go for it. We can say a lot things about them and it is easy, but in reality it is not easy to achieve what they had achieved.
Aung San Suu Kyi life and work is a legend in itself. Dedication, firm beliefs and commitment not to falter. I esp like her line on fear, that the minds should not be deluded by mirage of success. Despite hardships the Myanmar people continue to strive for their beliefs and livelihood guided by Buddhist principles.
Hope the US president visit to South East Asia helps to bring peace and hope the region. Aung San Suu Kyi deserves all the help she can get in her fight against injustice in Myanmar.
Aung San Suu Kyi has gone through difficulties in order to bring democracy to her own country. She is a very tough lady and she makes a lot of personal sacrifices. She has won great respects from people all around the world including world leaders like President Obama. I hope that with this recognition, her country’s future will be better.
Daw Aung Sun Suu Kyi’s courage and indomitable will to see her country free from the iron grip of totalitarian rule has won her great respect and admiration from leaders and people everywhere, including President Obama.The world watched as she held her own and would not allow tremendous personal suffering to cow her down.
The moment of greatest anguish must surely be that of not being able to see her dying husband’s face one last time before his death. Yet through that ordeal, she never lost sight of her goal of seeing her country free. She remains the source of greatest inspiration to all for her sacrifice of personal happiness for the happiness of her people.
Aung San Suu Kyi is tough, she had been house arrest for almost 20 years, and during these years, she never let herself down, she never let herself relax even though she can’t do anything, she spent time reading and make sure she is well updated with knowledge.

This shows her selfless action and mindset towards her life, she spent her life working for others, benefiting others.
Today this such great lady is meeting with the highest man of US, may they be able to help more and benefiting more people of working together…

Aung San Suu Kyi has gone through many difficult years in order to fulfill her wishes of bringing democracy to her own country. In doing so, she sacrifices many of her personal aspects. This is certainly not something that many of us are willing to do.
Aung San Suu Kyi’s speech here is although short but very smart in my eyes. She has bravery, intelligence, kindness and strong determination within her frail body.
I wish very much that with the recognition from many countries, the reform of Burma can move more smoothly so that people within the country can start to see lights that they have been deprived of for decades.
The meeting of two great leaders and foster of great friendship. Aung San Suu Kyi is inspiring because she fought for her whole nation to gain independence without violence. Her cause is bigger than herself and has sacrificed a lot for her people, even giving up her time with her family. All the hardship that she has gone through herself has benefitted so many people. She is indeed a compassionate and giving person.
President Obama is also inspiring because he became the first “Black” President in USA in history and broke all barriers/perception that people have on coloured people. He stood for equality for all people without discriminating them on their race, colour, religion and sexual preference. He is the president for all.
Aung San Suu Kyi has become a Symbol of dramatic struggle for Human freedom and dignity to her people in her Nation. While in exile, she has led her people and worked untiringly and inspiringly for reform against her Government. She is universally respected and well admired for her wisdom and non-violence nature. Its greatly wonderful that the US President, Barrack Obama and US Secetary of State took their precious valuable time to visit her as well as to sight the World famous reclining Buddha at Wat Pho Royal Monastry in Bangkok, Thailand. Both Aung Sang Suu Kyi and Obama charted history. These are two people that I admired much. Aung Sang Suu Kyi, for her bravery and her lifetime sacrifice for the people of Burma. Obama, for his unforgettable speeches and bravery. It is wonderful to know that US extended friendship to Burma to help them build a better tomorrow. All these made possible by one lady who stood out from the rest and fought for democracy.
Aung San Suu Kyi stood firmly by her beliefs and encountered many hardships in her fight for democracy for her country. Her sacrifice to be separated from her late husband reflects her ability to practice detachment for the benefit of her country men. It is a great honor in recognition of her perseverance and determination that two of US great political figures visited Yangon. She is a great inspiration to everyone throughout the world.
Aung San Suu Kyi is truly an inspiration for everyone. Al that she has done for her people and country through her perseverance, love and care. Its not a surprise that many people want to meet her. May the their country’s relationships be stronger and be able to help more people.
This is a monumental and significant visit for both parties. Its incredible to see that in our lifetime we are able to witness such injustice as well as such strength of the human spirit in the story that is Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s struggle and perseverance!
I have never seen Cadillac One that up close before. Look at the thick bulletproof doors!!! WOW! All to keep one man, the representation of the American freedom safe… Sounds like a gilded cage to me! Goes to show, no matter who you are, we are all stuck in samsara together…
When the most powerful man in the world comes to visit Aung San Suu Kyi in her home, it is not only a great tribute to what she stands for, it is also a tremendous symbol of friendship and personal respect. It is interesting what President Obama said, that from her home, under watch and very much cut off from communicating with the rest of the world, Aung San Suu Kyi managed to achieve so much for her country and also came to inspire so many.
Those who know Aung San Suu Kyi’s story knows how much she sacrificed and her actions show her to be truly selfless. And we see the result of her selflessness today but Aung San Suu Kyi is not seduced by the mirage of success and will go all the way for the people of her country. Very inspiring.
I hope the US President’s visit brings about an age of growth for Myanmar which has lagged behind in development all these years.
I reread the article again. When a president visit your home, and it is a US president, it says something about how much he respect you for what you did for your country.
The country Burma has moved forward in some respect, more positive for the people and their future. We should be grateful and thankful to Aung San Suu Kyi for what she gave to her country and how much potential is in each of us to make difference. We are part of the solution to the problem.

Sounds like the samsara we’re in and how we tend to sit back or fall back in our comfort zones when we think we have succeeded and then suddenly it could all turn in to shreds!
Yes it is a big deal when the US president visit your home and your country… but I think it was also a huge honour for President Obama to visit someone who sincerely and genuinely stood by her people’s freedom single handedly with such fearlessness, even though it meant giving up her own family for the betterment of so many people… and without violence! That kind of quality move mountains!!!
She’s likened to Mother Teresa, Ghandi and Boddhisatvas… she inspired not only her own people, but the world.
