Question asked by Paulo Sérgio
Dear Pastors and Rinpoche, I have been doing Ganden Lha Gyäma practice lately, and asking Guru Budha Je Tsongkhapa to increase my connection with him more and more.
I have some questions about this practice:
1- Is there a monastery where this practice is performed every day?
Is it possible, after absorbing Guru Budha Je Tsongkhapa into my heart, to recite the Manjushri, Avalokiteshvara and Vajrapani mantras, just visualizing them in the crown, throat and heart of Je Tsongkhapa (which is already in my heart right now)?
3- I read that one of the benefits of practicing Ganden Lha Gyäma is to avoid "Trib" disease. Could you explain more clearly to me what this disease is?
4- After reciting Ganden Lha Gyäma, the MIGTSEMA mantra and Je Tsongkhapa's heart mantra, can I recite the Maitreya Buddha mantra? If so, when is the most appropriate time?
Could you send me the nine-line Tibetan Prayer Migtsema (in Tibetano letters) for me to print and take with me to protect me?
Gratitude for everything. Tashi Delek!
Dear Paulo Sérgio,
Here are some answers to your questions:
1. The Ganden Lha Gyama practice is one that is done daily in every single Gelugpa Monastery. In fact, this is a foundational practice for the entire lineage.
2. This would depend on the text you are using and the instructions you have received for the practice from your Guru. It would also depend on whether you have received initiation or not. I would advise you to check with your Guru.
3. Trib also spelt Drib is spiritual disease in the sense that it is when the psychic winds with the body are disturbed. This creates both mental and physical imbalances.
4. For this please also consult with your Guru who taught you the practice. In essence it is not necessary to recite the mantra. Since Lama Tsongkhapa emanates from Maitreya’s heart in the Gaden Lhagyama practice, when you engage in the practice you are automatically creating a connection with the Buddha Maitreya.
5. If you would like to carry the mantra, there is no reason this has to be in Tibetan. In fact, you can print it out in phonetic English and carry it with you. It will have the same blessing effect. A mantra is a mantra no matter what language it is written in. But please remember to treat the mantra respectfully. Alternative, you can invite a Lama Tsongkhapa Chakra, which has been fully consecrated and blessed for this purpose here: https://www.vajrasecrets.com/lama-tsongkhapa-chakra
