Question asked by Conscious Union
I do not have a history of Tibetan Buddhism practice but I have had profound life altering experiences over the course of my existence in this lifetime, part of which included going through a process that is only described in Tibetan religious documents called the 'Bardo' during a life-endangering health experience. which I won't go through in detail here. Back in 2003, I went through a process which I eventually coined as 'conscious union'. As part of the ramifications of that process, I would experience an affinity with specific Tibetan images and practices including the gravity of being 'sucked into' specific Thangkas. Ever so often, I go through periods of spontaneous sudden black outs which are preceded by dizzy spells, cold sweats and nausea that can only be alleviated by listening to Tibetan prayer chants. Do you happen to know or have heard of such phenomena?
Dear Conscious Union,
From what you have written, somehow one of the experiences you went through has opened you up energetically. Therefore, this may be the cause for such occurrences. Within Tibetan Buddhist practice these sorts of experiences are said to be a obstacle because they can upset the equilibrium of the mind. As such, there are many different methods to stop this from happening and “closing” yourself off again. Some of these are quite extensive and would require a qualified teacher to do this for you.
However, what you can do yourself is to engage in the practice of a Dharma Protector, such as Dorje Shugden. These practices help to surround you with a layer of protection so these occurrences reduce and can subside completely. You can read more about these daily prayers and read them here: https://www.dorjeshugden.org/practice/diamond-path-a-daily-sadhana-of-dorje-shugden
I hope this helps
